IMPORTANT for WeatherPanel Users - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario ROM Development

Hi all,
If you use WeatherPanel, please note that the auth server that WeatherPanel uses isn't working. Due to this your WeatherPanel may not get updates, and more importantly, your phone performance and battery life can be impacted (as WP tries to continually access teh server that isn't there. THis probabably also means and increase in data traffic if you are on a measured plan!)
Please see this thread for a fix:
http://www.ppcgeeks.com/weatherpanel-freaks-weatherpanel-authorization-update-t8164.html
Also, I've updated my post in the Wizard forum about this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=307781
[MODS - Please lock this thread, as I really don't want discussions on this here. Discussions should be over on PPCgeeks or in my thread on the Wizard forum. Thanks!]

Thanks for the update. Got the WP_Auth_Moon_TRIAL08_CAB installed. But I'm really missing the Yahoo Icons.

I still have them on my storage card. I'll zip them up and post them tomorrow. I got them off the WeatherPanel Wiki. I'll have to find the link but do a google search and you will probably find it.

Why lock the thread for discussion, mfrazzz? A discussion in a new thread allows for collaboration and ease of retrieval. A fix has been made available that allows for updates via proxies as well a corrects moon phase issues. See weatherpanel.net. This is the original site where the fix was developed and Storyr, the guru who created the fix and keeps Weatherpanel running, posts there frequently. Some earlier workaround methods will no longer be supported

How about a files database?

Hi.
I have been using my Orange SPV M1000 for a while, and have installed a few programs, found with google.
I know there exists several other homepages with files to download.
I think (its just a suggestion), that it would be nice, if the board supported a page where all useful programs were categorized (and you would be able to download from there), if that is not possible because of bandwidth limitations, provide some links instead, or if that too is too much work currently, could you just make a page providing links to homepages that have programs.
I'm not sure if there already exists such a page on this forum. If so I have not been able to discover it.
Thank you xda-developers for your ongoing work.

[PROJ] XDA-Marketplace! (New Devs, same basic idea)[Looking for Support]

Cyclonezephyrxz7 is starting up a new XDA Marketplace for Android and Windows Mobile devices. Please check out the original thread for more information.
The address for the new marketplace will be http://www.xda-mp.com

UPDATE
Hello Everyone over on the ANDROID Forums,
Although I am not the OP of this thread, I am the main developer behind the new XDA-MarketPlace. I am here with a major update.
I haven't been posting much on this thread because I have been mainly working in the Windows Mobile one. Let me fill you in.
The website is quickly nearly completion. I was unable to hit my original goal of the New Year, but I have been doing my best to complete as fast as possible, while maintaining good code.
Many pages of the site are in fact done already. The pages that have yet to be finished are the User and Profile pages. The submission page is being RE-DONE.
Now, I haven't mentioned much of this over here ... but what I do need for YOU is to contact the developers of your programs and tell them to shoot me a PM with their E-Mails, or just telling me that they are interested in being alerted when the site is about to go up. This way, we can start the site with some applications!
Now, I have been feeling really crumby about not having the website out yet. I want you to know I HAVE NOT GIVEN UP ON THIS AT ALL. It has been taking me a lot of time. BUT I feel like I don't have any push because I have had at most 2 or 3 developers contact me. This website cannot exist with only 3 developers. I do need the member base to start this, so it can start off with a boom.
I ask for all of your support to make a cross-platform marketplace work for the community! I need it now more than ever
If you have comments, PLEASE POST THEM IN THE WINDOWS MOBILE THREAD [see the first post on this thread for a link] SO EVERYTHING CAN BE CENTRALIZED.
Thank You

Other devs with apps on market: have your download stats been working lately?

Has anyone seen their "Total Installs" (not "active installs") stats update in the past two weeks in the developer console?
I track as many Android market statistics as I can for my applications. For the past two weeks, the market has updated the "Active Installs" for each application but has failed to update the "Total Installs" portion. For one of my newer apps, this has led to it showing 180% as many active installs as total installs, a figure which should have a valid range of 0-100%.
I just noticed that they actually updated the HTML page showing these stats (possibly today). But the bug appears to remain.
I've seen reports of this on the Android market help forum. It seems Google has been locking these threads as they now want devs to deal with them on a one-on-one basis (and are reserving that forum for end-users only). I wanted to post this thread here simply to see if it *is* working for anybody before I open an issue with Google on the matter. (Regrettably have seen them sometimes do more damage trying to fix it in past cases).
Thanks for any suggestions/info!
I'm seeing the same thing and it looks like they've removed the percentage calculated for them.
Not updated since 13th September, quite annoying. On top of that Admob has not received Adsense amendments for over a week.

Looks like total installs is updating but active installs seem to not be working now.

[Q] Is there an easy way to add a dummy service to an existing application? (for oom)

Hello world,
yes, I used the search function.
Background: (you may wish to skip to the question)
I'm a multitasker and I don't like Android killing my browser if I use one or two other applications for a minute or so, because I lose all my tabs content that way. While that isn't bad having a good network connection, it is real bad in subway train where I usally read news by phone and the internet connection is very bad.
So I tried many different things in order to prevent android from killing my browser, and finally I found a solution in the opera forum:
(I really would like to link you there, but: "To prevent spam on the XDA forums, ALL new users prevented from posting outside links in their messages. After approximately 10 posts, you will be able to post outside links. Thank you for understanding!")
knumsole wrote in Opera forum:
Here, take this: (sorry, can't post link, see above)
This is Opera Mobile 11.5.3, (...). I repackaged it with a dummy service which increases the OOM priority of the application. This will very effectively prevent Android from killing it.
Click to collapse
(google for the complete sentences in that quote will lead you there.)
Adding this dummy service changed the applications oom priority from about 7 to 10 (--> gets killed soon to first) to an oom priority of 2 (which is totally stable for me).
[ooms read by auto memory manager.]
Question:
Is there a relative easy way to add a dummy service to an existing application? Such as "knumsole" did described before? (I tried contacting him, but wasn't successful)
I'd like to be able to do that myself, e.g. if I need a newer version of the browser. With "easy", I mean: I'm not an application developer, and I don't intend to become one. But I am able to extract an .apk file and modify text files in there and so. And if it is necessary, I would also compile that, too.
I use Android 4.1.2 on a rooted Samsung Galaxy S2.
Thank you!

Me profile pic not updating

Guys,
Incase some of you are having issues with facebook pics not updating, i created this thread on msdn after consulting with winphonesupport (thread here http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Fo...ck-to-a-previous-photo?forum=winphoneosissues ) - you will need to sign in with your MS account to read/post (its free obviously)
There is no official solution or work around, but keep your peepers open, its a known issue.
Cheers.
