I JUST WANTED TO SAY THANKS!!! For the WM6 ROM. - HTC Tornado

The latest ROM "wm6-for-tornado-perfect-english-edition-20070810" which can be found at CoolCode(click me) is Flawless!!!
All I had to do is add-on the "WM6GSMUPDATE" and the "t9 English". After that it was basically all about setting Reg to put Pocket IE and Email in Storage Card and Install all the apps I wanted.
You guys did a AMAZING JOB and I wanted to create a new thread so it gets attention. Thanks alot.
My SDA which I had running on the lastest ImateSP5m ROM actually runs MUCH smoother and less buggy.
And also Thanks alot to whoever is responsible for creating the "Extras" Zip file. The "SP5 keys" cab came in handy since I have SDA. Many other Cab came in handy too.
And thanks to the guy who created posted the T9 text cab (same as Imate ROM).
I will be donating to this site & to you guys.

Hi
thanx for the thanx.lol

Hum very good news Thx for all job and all cookers.

I also want to thank all the contributers. With Phil's Alpha we could see the light. I was planning to replace my SP5 and I started liking it again. With Andot's release most bugs were solved and many improvements were made. And now you are talking (duke_stix) about never build which seems fantastic already. Thanks again to all for the good job.

Go and spam andot's site Google ads link, you can contribute abit, have been spamming his ads on each visit, whenever there is a new build

I want to thanks to Andot, very very much !!! :x :x :x

@duke_stix - I had a go at porting the Vox XIP the other day, can't say it was wholly successful, phone froze on the splashscreen but at least it didnt go straight to the bootloader, means theres some hope of porting it

Thanks Dr Gonzo.
Keep up the gr8 work.. I will test it tonight..
If my phone is unable to boot then how can i restore back to your guava rom?
You have to re-flash it to New Guava, there is no "restore".
I'd say don't test it if you've never experienced an unusable phone
I'd like to know if people feel like me that it is faster ? It seems so.
But switching from portrait to landscape is very slow.. If someone has some knowledge of the files involved in this maybe it could be fixed.
Maybe it is because I have not ported all the files from wm 6.1 xip.
I still need to do a lot of tests here.
Hi Dr Gonzo
Being in touch with an expereinced person like you gives me the confidence to test it. I hope you will help me if GOD forbid i get an unusable phone...

I'm going to flash your WM 6.1 ROM onto my Vox because I am courious what WM 6.1 is like. Is this just a plain WM 6.1 ROM or a New Guava ROM?
Roland
flashing done but my phone is stucked on mobile operator splash screen for a long time
this rom seems slower than wm6..
Damn I cant belive this. U r awesome dude!
Thanx god u had the great idea to buy the vox!
What does Unusable mean? Something like a beta version? Or an alpha? I mean can I call send sms etc? Thanx.
ok i got a screen like the one dr gonzo posted.. its gr8
speed is very very gooooooooooooooooood
here is version information
windows mobile 6.1 Standard
OS 5.2.19195
Radio 4.1.13.54_03.10.90
I've just flashed my phone with this ROM, it's very fast compared with WM 6, the screen quicker when the keyboard has been opend compared with WM 6, needs clear type switching on and HTC Audio Manager adding and it will be looking good, keep the revisions coming as you port more of the ROM to the Vox. Can not wait to see what yuou do with the New Guava ROM when you have fineshd porting all of WM 6.1.
Roland
dude post some screenshot!
activesync also working fine with it..
need some clean fonts & cleartype enabled...
GPRS, bluetooth & wlan not working...
drivers needed for them..
wake up dr gonzo.. we need you
lol i'm pretty sure he said its still in the testing phase....cant expect hourly updates lol

GPRS works for me but wifi and bluetooth don't. Have you run the network setup wizard that pops up when your phone booted after it booted to the OS for the first time after Flashing the ROM?
Roland
Yep! Gprs works like a charm, wifi bluetooth not. Is there the t9? I cant find it, I trie to install the all language cab from the new guava 3d. The phone is fast very fast and quite stable too. Great work doc!

Chef Mentor Wanted...

hi, peeps.
Im having a play with some bits and pieces and think I get it. Wondered if a kind Chef would mind taking me under thier wing and giving me a few bits to play with eg partially created roms, ones that didnt work, ones that did, a couple of different roms and then get me to try and merge them etc.
Want to extract some existiing roms so I can learn how the bits all work. Yes I have read the tuts and guides. But I fancy having a foster chef help me get up to speed.
Soz if this is against the rules, I just fancy trying to be an apprentice first and learn from different roms what worked and what didnt, and more importantly, why. Also want to learn about these tweaks people make to the dlls etc.
that mentor would be the wiki.

Thanks raiisak, Its very refreshing to see someone who goes that bit further. I had seen some of those, but there are a few new links I hadnt come accross before.
Just bit the bullet and flashed my first rom It aint grear, but at least it works! Not getting the performance of Leo though, even though I used his core v4. Must try and see why.
To the "read the wiki" bregade, I confirm I had before I wrote this thread. Reason I asked for a mentor, is that is how I approach my work. For my employer, I have mentors, and I mentor others. Collaboration was what I thought forums and communities were all about - perhaps I was mistaken.
Once again, thank you to raiisak. No doubt Ill be in contact to see how you get on, as well as trying to learn with you if I can keep up

After playing around with all these tools, download the kaiser 3.28 rom and strip out the bloatware. This is where the skills come in knowing all the reg keys belonging to what program and what files link to the program. These are all good tips for a good start. I wish you luck.

Well I am glad it helped you a bit on the way, and I fully understand why you search a mentor. All the info on cooking are great untill you reach more advanced areas best explained by chefs who knows the deal or others who are contributing and developing.
I have a couple more for you:
Universal WM6 ROM Kitchen
XDA PagePool Patcher v1.4 for ALL Kaiser Rom Files (and Touch dual)
Others string of intrest is:
how to edit a .rgu
how to create a oem
how the build a package
Remeber L26 and other great chef`s rgu`s are heavy modified. Theyre roms are stripped and customized over and over. We deadly need to start fresh, learning the kitchen, again and again its stucked in mind and fingers. Then move on and add oure own packages editing those oem and flash, reflash and flash some more. Reading up on forum while you are cooking is a great thing as its wery time consuming. Doing it basic adding one by one is a great learning curve and great for bugtesting.
Lucky me I am under a great chefs wing and will be happy to provide/pass on some basic knowledge about cooking if you gets stuck youre first week
Just shout out or pm me and ill do my best.

WOW! Thanks dude...
That stock tool removal will be my next step.
My first cooked rom still hasnt died yet - I just bunged anyold crap in to see how it would look, and if it would work. The fact it even booted amazed me - and there are even some bits I like in there. - for example there are 2 start menus, one normal WM version, the other like a Desktop. Id never seen that before - Id always wanted to clean out a rom, then put some of my most used apps - Opera, RSS, PIE a couple of games or something. Now I might "play" more and think more outside the box... Dunno yet !
Edit: - when I say 2 Start menus, I mean at the same time, depending on where you click on, icon for detailed version, word for simple version.

Also if you going to do youre own stuff I recomend WinCE CAB Manager, unfort. its not free. But its a wery wery nice cab tool. I use it all the time to make my own tweaks as I flash faster than flash gordon himself and cant be arsed hack the reg manualy everythims. You can build a house in there, im sure of it. Anyways, you should check it out.

Hi
It is good to see a determined fellas that try to cook. I'm no cook and merely a average user... but if i'm not mistaken, the two start menu you talking about might be coming from qmenu (the one that look like desktop.. by desktop i assume you mean windows desktop and it is a cascading start menu). maybe the base you use already have it installed.

[Alpha Release] - JustHome

I've renamed the project JustHome, from JustcHome. (Currently on Build 11)
This is a Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM. It’s based off the most recent official Microsoft leak, 21725.
You can grab the newest build from my site. Look into the JustROMs link.
You can see pictures in my site within the gallery or go to http://thewingster.com/ivanmmj.aspx
PLEASE READ:
Guys, in general, I don't have all the answers. YOU are the the alpha/beta testers. If you don't give me ALL the information, then I won't have a starting point to figure out the issue. I'm using logic to figure the issues out, not some sort of inside knowledge, so without that extra info, I'm as confused as you are. Also, realize that not everything is a bug on the ROM. Somethings are because of the program choices you make.
From here on:
If reporting a bug, label it "Bug:" then write down the programs causing the bugs, all other programs you've installed. Write down any error messages that appear. Write down EXACTLY how it behaves. That will give me enough information to help. Telling me that it bugs out doesn't really give me much info.
Example:
Bug: Today Screen Crashes
Background: I installed SuperPluginExtreme and since then, my Today Screen crashes. It didn't crash before. Here's a link to SuperPluginExtreme. www.superpluginextreme.com
Error: .NETCf not found
ill be waiting!!

[04/06/09]Modified Phoenix II WM6.1 Rom

Hi there,
My first ROM release.
I hope some of you like it.
As it is my first release I'd like to have feedback on it.
The ROM is cooked with the Phoenix Kitchen from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=476015
Wm6.1 21109 rom.
I wanted to make a fast and stable rom without things I didn't need like MS voice command. I also took out manilla2d and chose to use HTC home instead.
the rom had a 3g Dialer with full video calling support.
Included Programs are:
HTC audio manager, iContact, G-Alarm, Pocket Notepad, NoData, Opera, ms voip plugin, Pocket RAR, S2U2 1.62, MS office, Camera 5.xx, Quick Position,
Total Commander, Advanced Config, Connection Setup, 9 button action screen on long press send button, 8 button comm manager (same skin as Dialer), Hardware keyboard speed increase tweak.
I also included a few freeware games, Rhodium Ringtone package ( and took out most standard windows mobile ringtones). and I took some drivers/packages out for things I never used or thought not necessary, packages are (from SYS folder): IPSECVPN packages, IRDA, Onenote, Remote Desktop, Transcriber and MS voicecommand. (These should be installable with standard cab files.)
I get 82.68 MB total Program Memory after hard reset, and 47,82 free after installing everything I use (like Igo8) and softreset.
Pagepool is set to Dynamic (if anyone has any suggestions about pagepool I'd like to hear it.)
Some Registry tweaks from the standard Phoenix rom are also still included, like setting camera shutter delay and end call delay to 0 ms, glyphcache, powermanagement tweaks, added Igo8.exe to S2U2 exception list, Disabling sliding sound.
Credits go to the Phoenix Development team of course for releasing their rom and their kitchen and for answering my cooking questions!
To Anryl for the Original Port used by the phoenix Development team and to Bepe for releasing the great kitchen tools I used!
I also have to thank A_C for his work on making S2U2 even better with his new password protection and Notification add-on.
and of course everyone who released freeware programs/packages/cabs/anything else I didn't make myself...

should be fine then since they release a kitchen for everyone to use
what about the name?
congrats man...ill try it..sounds tight..
although i cant speak for parley p (the phoenix chef) that he will be alright with it or not...he is one hell of a nice guy, not just an amazing chef...and i dont think that he would mind this being a modification of the kitchen he released to everyone...but....i think maybe u could change the name?
u see calling it a "modified phoenix" is kinda confusing as ppl might think it has something to do with the original PHOENIX rom series...sorta like copyright infringement lol...
so i think maybe changing the name of ur rom....and then keep the explanation that it is based on the PHOENIX rom kitchen..
just my humble 2 cents
congratz again
haha, I don't think Parley would care, might want to give it your own name, so people don't get confused. Parley wouldn't have released a kitchen if he didn't want people to modify the ROM, if you make something good, release it. You credited us for the kitchen, which is credited to bepe and Anryl as well, so it's all good unless parley thinks otherwise.
i already flash this... but somehow my ActiveSync won't connect... already hard reset twice... now i'm try to download another rom and try to flash... but i doubt i can because i didn't connected through activesync.

I flashed this rom 4 times (each time with a lil change) and active sync works normally here,
I did have some problems with it a few days ago, but after going into task manager and shutting down "wcescomm.exe" "rapimagr.exe", shutting down active sync on my kaiser and then reconnecting problem was gone!
If problem stays, you can always flash from sdcard, just copy a rom to it,
rename it to KAISIMG.nbh and restart your kaiser
About a name... well if anyone has an idea, I didn't have much time to think of one cause I should be learning for a test tomorrow

I have tried your rom it was nice and stable but very bare,
camera worked, office didn't work(told me to reset but it still didn't work)
It had very few programs and it lacked essentials like
RealVGA. An x7510 with it's enormous screen is ridiculous without RealVGA
Ill try to add more stuff
Hey, Vico, could you post some screenshots of of ROM?
Like Programs and Settings, to know what apps you take out.
Oh, yes, and memory storage and free ram programs.
I think if you want to add more apps, you could do this with separated .cabs, not with your ROM.
So we just install that would be useful to each one.
Just my two cents.
I said its a beta, you can't expect me to cook everything in one go. Plus this is my first time cooking rom. I posted this up because people were wanting this build.
Ill add screenshots to the first post.

You are very welcome as a new chef for x7510, and I am very grateful that you do this. There is so much activity for 7500 and 7501 and so little activity in this forum so any chef who'll cook a new rom is a hero in my eyes. When I and others are telling you about things that don't work it is not meant as criticism but as testing reports so the rom can get better.
keep up the good work!
cheers

Ps Thanx to peppi.nl for making me aware of the situation for Real VGA, I didn't know
In fact, RealVGA works. But not properly. Specialty inferior bar at Today screen. But the other menus works fine.
Office 2010 doesn't work well. But I think this a Office problem, not a ROM problem. I have the same problem with Diamond.
Anyway, if someone want to change it to Office 6.1: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1556679&postcount=24
Indeed a very nice ROM (it really not seems a beta, but a real RC).
Too light, stable and fast. A real jewel for anyone who wants a 6.5.3 ROM.
(unfortunately I have to come back to 6.1, cos some app doesn't workin' well with 6.5.x)
Very nice work Vico. Keep it up, mate!

Not yet, i will be updating this build. Making it better
I have been using xtep's 6.5 rom for some time and I have quite satisfied with it.
The day before yesterday I flashed three times.
I first tried your rom and then when Word didn't work I tried avengerpenguins rom. With his rom I had a problem with the touchscreen which made it comletely unusable for me.
I then tried saied's rom where everything apparently worked but it became slower and slower and neither ramcleanining nor resets helped it was in the end comletely useless.
Yesterday after having read more in your thread I flashed back to your rom. It is great!
Now my two cents worth: I hope you keep it small, clean and fast, It is the first rom I have tried that didn't even have an extra onscreen keyboard. but this is great since many of the roms have keyboards that are not centered well, it is much better to put it in afterwards. )( I use Finger Keyboard)
thx for your good work
Ive updated it to a newer version. (check the first post)
Office word 2010 now works.

I also found that the x7510wrapper.exe was missing so I used the one from his first rom. It worked for me. See below
hello sir. thanks for this update utility tool. I have been able to update my phone. the menu are realy perfect. is there any french rom for this x7510? I tried the french rom of x7500 but it did not work. it seems they have different hardware. i will be happy if someone can give me link to french rom version of x7510. thanks
The difficulty is that the applications would then have to be in french (i think so)...sure i can make the rom in french but i don't know how all it would turn out.
i am ready to test in case u can make it.
