Hi guys!
I use the XDA II myself but gave an XDA I as a gift to a friend.
However, while he has it in his pocket it seems to turn itself off completely, as in not remaining on standby for calls and sms.
He turns off the screen using the usual button, puts it in his pocket and an hour or so later, wonders why he hasn't had calls or messages. He touches the button again and gets the blue o2 screen and logo just as in a soft reset, as the device turns itself on and receives messages and missed calls notifications.
It doesn't happen all the time but once or twice a day. Obviously the device is useless if he cannot rely on it to be on standby for calls, and if he has to keep rechecking it to see if it's live.
It happens even when battery is fully charged so it's not a powersaving cutoff.
Here's the details
XDA I
ROM 317.03ENG
Romdate 05/15/03
Radio Version 4.21.00
Protocol Version 32S54
I'd be grateful for help if anyone knows what's wrong and how to solve it.
Best regards to all
Conor
Does this happen even when the xda is clean with nothing installed? It may be an idea to do a hard reset and use it for a while to see if it happens without any software installed.

I do have this problem too. I think WM2003 is not really fully suitable for XDA1.
Beside this, I also encounter problems like the phone will gard reset itself if you enter the phone BAND selection page. Also, the phone will turn on by itself which it didnt when I was still with the PPC2002.
Have to bear with it as I CANNOT flash the rom anymore as the WM2003 refused to let me do it.
Bye.

Yes - a hard reset didn't help things...

Any other ideas out there?
Thanks
The SIM rubber cover is reseting the device.
To test it, turn the device on and lightly press on the rubber cover to see if the device resets or turns off.
It is a known problem! Try to open the rubber cover on top of the SIM card and close it again.
If that does not help do a search for a fix...
if left alone, the phone app will open itself, and it seems the hangup button is pressed over and over again 10s intervals,
if you open something else, it will close because hangup is the same as minimize or close. and it will go back to the phone application. i have disabled phone and removed the sim and it still tries and opens the phone app.
if you hold the hangup button, the phone works like it normally does. and i can make calls normally as well.
i upgraded the radio rom but did not help, im starting to think its a button board problem.
really weird but does someone have a solution to this?
i am reposting this to general forum, maybe someone will have any idea here...
My problem really is that from time to time screen turns off/freezes because of faulty connector tape between it and main unit (as far as I know). for the time being I can't fix it so I have to live with it. When this happens all I have to do is to press standby twice, so it is not very hard, except for the fact that when I put Wizard into standby, wifi disconnects, and I have to wait for it to connect again. Now this is very annoying! My question is whether it is possible to disable this, so that wifi stays on even when I press standby, maybe a simple registry hack or dedicated application... any ideas?

yes, i would like to know this too, anyone?
Hi everyone,
I just bought a Sensation yesterday. It seems that keyboard is not functioning normally. As an example when I press "L" the "delete" functions and when I press "delete" the "enter" functions. Strangely this abnormal behavior is only seen with these keys: L,M,delete, enter on the right and S,Z,ALT,Language keys on the left. Does anyone have this problem? Can this be a simple calibration problem or a hardware problem?
P.S. The screen functions normally at other times.
Thanks,
You can always try the calibration you mentioned. I did it just for ****s and giggles. Are you using the stock keyboard or are you using a different one? I actually had the same problem you are having with the GB keyboard from the market, but no problems at all with the stock keyboard.
Unfortunately I'm using the stock keyboard. But surprisingly I didn't have this problem for the last 1 hour.
So did you try the calibration on the stock keyboard?
I have some questions on this, I have the sensation and have notices some issues, when the phone is placed on the charger. I have the t-mobile glove (rubber) I noticed that when the glove is on and it is plugged into charger the screen goes all weird I swipe the screen and it calls some random person from the contacts, if I try to unlock it the ring just bounces around and will not let me unlock the phone when I slect a point on screen something else opens.
if I unplug it or remove the glove issue goes away, but work fine connected to charger(no glove) and works fine in glove (no charger connected)
I am at a loss as what could be causing this
I honestly have no clue what could be causing it.
How about when you're typing a message, and for some reason the keyboard goes away and the sms thread goes all the way to the top of the conversation? I hate having to scroll down, anyone?
And to the OP, you're with vodafone, are you getting 3G or just edge with the sensation? I'm going to be visiting Aksaray later this year and I'm bringing my phone and I want to use 3G data with vodafone since last year, I brought my iPhone and it worked and they didn't block it because it was from the U.S
That has happened to me before, as well, when the keyboard disappears then it takes you to the top of the thread. Just hit back and click back on the thread and it takes you back to the bottom. Much quicker than scrolling possibly hundreds of messages down.
I got the surface pro last week and i love it, but I have two issues, one minor, one major.
The major one is that the button on my digitizer came off. It just stayed stuck in the magnetic holder when I took the pen out. It still works but the button is kind of hanging off. And when I reattach it to the port, it breaks off again. Is this a common problem? And does anyone have experience getting a replacement from microsoft?
The other problem I am having is that the keyboard is unresponsive sometimes when I flip it backwards and then bring it back. It requires a few disconnects and reconnects when this happens. Does anyone know of a program or setting to stop the keyboard from disabling or adjust the sensitivity to prevent this from happening? (It's the touch cover if that makes a difference.)
Thanks in advance.
1. I would tell MS to change that pen right away. Sounds defective, unless you pulled it out at a really bad angle and then it's your fault lol
2. I had that problem too, all you have to do it flip it a bit more slowly. It works the same way that a smartphone accelerometer works. I had this problem too, just gently flip it instead of zooming it to the back or the front.
Keyboard Issue
You ever have the keyboard not plugged in, and turn on the PC and not be able to login because it doesn't automatically pop up the onscreen keyboard?

Nope, but I do have the issue if I flip it back too fast it won't recognize as the keyboard not being absent and doesn't pop up the onscreen keyboard at times. But never when it's not connected at all.
