HTC MOGUL - General Topics

I check out the htc mogul today (Not to purchase it though ) and I saw there were 2 new app. on there. One I think is a different audio player, and the second one was the slide-keyboard sounds with three sound choices to choose from when you slide open the keyboard. I also like the camera that was on there. I have a MDA right now ( waiting for the kaiser ) and I want to try these app.

Need S2U2 and HTC Home Plugin

I am purchasing an AT&T Tilt, but would like to utlilize the Touch Flo such as is used in the Touch Dual. With that in mind I am considering:
1) Purchasing the "Touch Commander" third party software
2) I need a good download of the S2U2 (customizable slide locking feature)
3) I need a good download of the HTC Home Plugin
4) I need a good download of the HTC Audio Center
5) I need a good download of the HTC Album
Two HTC techs told me this would give me what I need to make my AT&T Tilt function with the Touch Flo/Touch Cube pretty much like the Touch Dual.
Therefore, could anyone provide me with a GOOD link to be able to download:
1) S2U2 (customizable slide locking feature)
2) HTC Home Plugin
3) HTC Audio Center
4) HTC Album
Thanks so much. I am a novice at this so please be kind...
P.S. The HTC techs told me NOT to download and change the ROM on the AT&T Tilt because of warranty issues.

1.) S2U2 v0.86
2.) HTC Home Plugin
3.) HTC Audio Manager & HTC Audio Today Plugin This will allow you a quick link on your today screen to the HTC Audio Manager.
Installing these programs will not void your warranty.

All nice apps, but this will NOT enable TouchFlo, or Cube!
Of course at AT&T they tell you, you should not flash another ROM.
They have to say that. However, flashing a Cooked ROM is by far the easiest way to make the Cube available. There are some ROMs that have this build-in.
BTW, SEARCH this forum, and you will know a lot more about HardSPL, flashing ROMs etc.
Touch Flo and Cube are definitely things I want to achieve with my Tilt, but now FOUR different techs at HTC (not AT&T) stressed that I do not update the ROM, but rather install 3rd party software like Touch Commander, then install S2U2, HTC Home Plugin, HTC Home Customizer, and HTC Audio Centerl. Now I am a bit confused because I know you all know what you are doing, but there are now two different scenarios: one that says install 3rd party programs without changing ROM, and the other that says install a new ROM (which I am afraid I might really mess up).
I have to be honest, I would rather go the way of the Touch Commander and the above listed apps, rather than replacing the ROM, especially because of my lack of knowledge and probably voiding the warranty (which they of course stressed), but I do want it to work also. Which way to go?
BTW, if replacing the ROM is better, is there just ONE easy install available with a good downloadable link (i.e., not just check the forum for it) and instructions specifically for the AT&T Tilt?
Or, is the 3rd party apps and Touch Commander going to work?
Thanks.
PS. I don't have the time to educate myself too much through the forum only because I have a 2 year old and a 9 month old who are just a little bit of a handful right now...
Thanks again.

There are cabs that will install the touchflo cube but they don't work that great. I would avoid it all together for this phone, which does have touchflo scrolling. Also, flashing a rom is easy but risky. You install hardspl and verify that it was done b/c it's important. Then flash your rom (both procedures need activesync BTW). If the flash fails you have maybe a 50/50 chance of having a non-returnable paperweight.
Touch commander is ok, but unnecessary if you're going to use htc home. I mean it looks cool, but it's just eye candy.
A lot of people just hard reset their phone (soft reset with both left & right softkeys pressed) and cancel the at&t bloatware by soft resetting (press stylus in the hole in the bottom) before it installs. I have the xda live 1.2 rom.
hope this helps
Is it just me?
Now, I'm no noobie. I've done this dance with the Wizard and Hermes. But, I'm no expert either. I just got my Tilt tonight and promptly slapped some HardSPL on it and am trying the various cooked ROMs.
I have a question, though. How can I get HTC Home on my device? I have d/l'ed and attempted to put the files in this thread on my device, but there's no clock and weather and such after a reboot - just the same little set of icons which come with the device (known in the Today settings tab as "HTCHomeplug".
Am I missing something?
Thanks in advance,
J

The 'HTCHomePlug' entry is *not* the HTC Home today plug in, - if Home has installed correctly it will be listed in the items list as 'HTC Home'.

Camera App from S730 -> S710

Hi there.
Is it possible to extract the whole camera application from the HTC S730 to the HTC S710?
The handling seems to be much more nicer on the HTC S730.
Please have a look (you have to scroll down some pages):

UP!
Yes, this would be pretty cool, the camera from the S730 looks really good
I was trying to find something to the Vox but had no luck...i found here an update to the htc camera but it's for the Shadow, and it doesn't work on the Vox. I also tried this tweak for us to be able to use bigger video resolutions, but I end up with the problem found by every user who tried it: we can really enable the bigger resolutions (CIF and L) but the app locks in the loading icon when using it.

HTC Home Vs O2 Today

Hi
I'm brand new here, and I'm hoping this question may have already been asked and answered but...
I have the new Orbit 2 and really much prefer the HTC Home to the o2 Today.
So I installed HTC Home and it works fine but...
I'm not able to control it in the same as this guy can with the TouchFlo...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5olemDlIRI
I'd like to be able to control it in the EXACT same way; I have UltimateLaunch but it doesn't seem to change the whole screen in the way the video does, just the bit at the bottom.
Am I missing some software?
Many, many thanks
Oliver,.
just bumping my question...
I would be very interested in this too as a new owner of an orbit2
Alfie, can you give me any pointers to the HTC Home app please?
The answer to this thread is actually extremely simple. Remove ALL today plugins except for ultimate launcher then add your HTC plugin onto a tab in UL, then create more tabs with icons and such, set the tab gestures to open/perform the desired tasks and lastly set the height of the ultimate launch plugin to be equal to your entire screen size. After you play around for a bit you will understand. Ultimate launch does not use touchflo, it has its own "touchflo" monitor. I have been using a setup like this for a few days now and am quite happy with it. if you search here in the developer section you will see some threads there for "the better cube", "questions about tabbed today" and others. read those and you will be quite happy.
My O2 Orbit2 did not come with HTC Home, any clues as to where I can get this please?

HTC Home missing music tab on WM6.1

Hey ppl,
I just upgraded my Touch Cruise to WM6.1 with the official ROM from the HTC site. It installed without any problems. I've noticed that the music tab is missing from my HTC Home menu. I checked in the settings, and the music option was checked. I unchecked it, and then checked it, and still no luck. I disabled HTC Home, and then reenabled it, but to no avail.
I checked some websites that show how to adjust the tabs using a registry editor. I did this (added a new string called TabSetting and made the value 1,2,3,4,5) and HTC Home responds to it by showing all tabs except the music tab (which is tab 5). I don't know what's wrong. If I adjust the registry value (e.g. make it 1,2,3) then it shows those 3 tabs only, which means it works for all the tabs except the music tab.
When I select Today in the Settings page, I have the Appearance tab and the Items tab. On my previous ROM, I Installed the HTC Home 6 Tab plugin, and that gave me the extra tab in the Today Settings page to choose which tabs I wanna show in HTC Home. So I installed the 6-tab plugin, and tried to adjust it there. It makes changes to the registry value TabSetting, but still HTC Home does not show my music tab!
I've flashed the ROM again, I've hardreset .... but it won't work. Can anyone figure this out please?
Also, is it just me or has the SMS become slower? I like the threaded SMS idea, but for some reason when I'm typing, I have to type a lot slower than my previous ROM.
On the upside, WM6.1 seems to be quicker in doing some other things. Let's hope my HTC Home problem is not permanent ...
Edit: yes, I've been to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=396016&highlight=music+tab+htc+home and it didn't solve my problem no matter how many times I've tried. I've even followed the YouTube video about this.
Just fixed it. I found a link for the HTC Home plugin for the original ROM of the Touch Cruise, and it now shows my music tab.

[SOLVED] Best Kinetic Scrolling app?

Hello all,
I'm recently returning to touch screen WM devices after having a 6.1 smartphone for a few months.
I can't live without finger scrolling so i must ask, which is the best add on for finger scrolling? I used to use ftouchflo, it was ok, but it wasn't kinetic. Then i upgraded to ftouchsl, but it was quite buggy.
Now I see the touch diamond and touch pro/fuze as well as the lg incite with nice, built in kinetic scrolling. Is there any way to port such an add on to the Tilt? (The phone i'm using) or are there any good alternatives?
Thanks!
does anyone have any input on this or is this sub forum just dead?
I've tried all different types of add ons and i'm really just looking for some users' opinions.
it's christmas lol wait and see what people say later on today
I don't think there's anything better to use than the FtouchSL...
use HTC Touchflo instead of ftouchflo, or ftouchsl,. it have so many option anyway,.
I beleive that if you install TF2D found on the development and hacking forum it will include HTC Touchflo, which works great as far as I am concerned.
htc touchflo is far more superior than ftouchflo or ftouchfloSL. I have tried both on my Polaris. The kinetic scrilling in HTC is very good.
You have a HTC Tilt yes? If so, is touch scrolling enabled? (Settings->System->TouchFlo, if that doesn't exist, I suggest you flash a cooked ROM, most of which contain TouchFlo built in).

The only and big advantage ftouchflo/ftouchsl has over HTC touchflo is that it is cofigurable. while using the handwritten notes (I use PhatPad) the touch scrolling can be switched off while using ftouchSL/ftouchflo whereas it remains a pain in thw [email protected]# using it with HTC touchflo.
Thanks everyone. I had a hermes a couple months ago and when i put m2d on it, it didn't include touchflo for the whole system. Apparently it does now? I'll try an m2d rom on my tilt when it comes in a day or two and see what happens.
