Pardon me if I post the question on the wrong section.
I wonder if anyone here own X500+, and having the same problem as I do.
All video files, 3gp, flv, wmv, etc are basically playable using TCPMP. It's just that the frames keep on jumping, so as to create impression of layers.
It's really annoying, whereas the same video plays smoothly on my friend's other PDA.
I began to question if it's QVGA and VGA issue.
If anyone here can give me some ideas, I appreciate it.
Try the Eten EU forum.
You are kinda in the wrong forum altogether, eh?
Try here: http://eten-users.eu/index.php?showtopic=10577
They give you some TCPMP settings to get X500+ running 25fps. That's probably the forum you want to ask re: Eten stuff.

What the X500+ is out?!?!?
When did it come out?
It's out in the US. I'm sure it's out in Asia already as well...as eten forum has LOT of reviews and such. I already ordered mine from MobilePlanet and it's shipping soon (fingers crossed). Honestly though, $600 shipped for a VGA phone with GPS and FM Radio...you can't beat that. I was thinking about switching to HTC Trinity...but it was the same price as eTen x500+ (without VGA and FM Radio)...I'm sure VGA screen makes X500+ bit slower but I can live with that.

I have used both HTC and Eten product(M600+) and the built and feel of the devices is so different. HTC devices are much better built than Eten devices but it seems like you get more bang with your bucks going with and Eten device though. After using and HTC(Trinity) I don't think I would be going back to ETEN any time soon. Just my 2 cents.
I've used the Eten M700...and comparing my 8525 to M700, I must say that HTC product in that generation is definitely better than Eten's. Supposedly, Eten's laters ones come pretty close to HTC quality (X500, X500+, etc..). I guess I'll find out in a week or so. Eten's is definitely...uh...uglier. But for business use, I don't mind too much. Having a usable web browser (at 640x480) would be great...especially as Deep Fish (MS's beta browser) gets more mature. I'm kinda sick of waiting for HTC's phones to become available anyway.

Shame its not a 3G phone, or I would order as soon as it arrives in the UK!

UGH. You DEFINITELY shouldn't. Your sig shows Tmo @ UK. For some reason Eten X500 series DO NOT work on UK Tmo GPRS. It's okay in the US.... and Eten hasn't figured out why. Strange, eh?

So.. umm yeah i expect there are a thousand of these posts around here and you're all fed up with talking about them. But i need to ask you people this...
XDA Mini S (i think this one is the "wizard" right?) or XDA Atom???
Simple issue here... i like the idea of the keyboard on the XDA Mini S, but im not sure if the processor is going to be up to scratch.
And i like the fact the atom has more processing power and a 2MPixel camera (but thats really not that important to me).
So... What would you suggest?
caff.
I suggest waiting for the HTC HErmes. It's got what you want in terms of processor and also keyboard
ahh, i wish but no sorry.. im stuck with xda's as its an upgrade from o2 im getting.
if the processor in the xda mini s is good enough for pretty much everything then ill get that
caff.
No, but presumably O2 would launch something like Xda Mini S2
... and you can always port your number. At the moment T-Mobile look well ahead with their tarrifs.

I have seen no problem with the O2 mini S processor speed. You have to remember that the processor speed looks slow, but in reality you are not comparing like with like, this is a Texas Instruments chip, with a different command set to other chips you are comparing it with.
I can run all the applications that I want, TomTom for example funs faster on here than on my Dell X5 (400 Mhz).
The one thing you have to remember is that you are not running a Pentium4 3Ghz 2Gig RAM 250Gb Hard drive machine, but a PDA with phone capabilities.
For me, its all I want in a phone/PDA I would not be without mine now.

I have a Universal, and a colleague just got one of the new JAM's this week (not the Hermes itself obviously), and I have to say, it makes me kinda want the same form factor again.
Sure I love the laptop type clamshell of the Universal, but usually end up holding the thing flat anyhow when the keyboard is out.
I like the protection a clamshell provides, but I can buy a case.
I like the SD card, but I don't swap my SD with my camera any more, and you can get 1GB Micro SD cards today.
I like the VGA screen, but I wonder if 640x480 is one reason why some map progs seem a bit more sluggish compared to my old slower-processored JAM?
Now that I can get a JAM-sized phone/PDA with 3G, I'm definitely buying the Hermes from T-Mobile when they release it in June as the MDA Vario II.
yeah bilbo i thinik your right, its all to do with comparisons.
but im pretty sure the omap 850 chip has a better cache then the intel chips in the xda IIi. So i think it will probably be ok
if no-one has any major objections i think im going to go for the xda mini s... that is unless the o2 shop guy turns around and tells me something new is coming out in a month hehe.

One thing to remember when you go to the O2 Shop is that they will charge you £79.99 for the phone on a contract that is less than £45 per month...... unless you ask then not to.
I got my XDA-mini-S soon after they came out. I went to the O2 Shop, looked interested until the guy said there was a charge. After very little he said that to get me on board an O2 tariff he would drop the charge.
Remeber they can and will drop the charge, if not go to walk out and see what they say.
Good luck

Looking at the info on the Hermes, I think it has the same 416Mhz IntelXscale processor that my Dell X5 had 5 years go?

Good advice, thanks
ill be going in on wednesday to purchase it, so ill let you all know how it goes
caff.
One thing that no one seems to mention is the screen. The atom has an 18 bit screen and that can give a hit on performance for graphic intensive programs. The transfer of those 18 bits as oppsed to the 16 in most other ppc is ineficient and for games = bad.
"TOUCH PRO" "TOUCH PRO""TOUCH PRO""TOUCH PRO""TOUCH PRO""TOUCH PRO"
my brain is now doing overtime........
When is HTC gonna give us break?
for the last few months i have been waiting with patients for my Diamond upgrade,
Now reading the Diamond posts and checking out
http://www.htc.com/www/default.aspx
i found out that the so called "TOUCH PRO" IS ON ITS WAY GRRRR!!!!!
What does 1 do????
wait again for it to come out,
which by dat time HTC will most probably bring out the "HTC TOUCH PRO DIAMOND ULTIMATE THINGY" or something....
here we go again.......
My advice dont get the 1st batch wait a little longer and you still wont be happy or have wot you wanted in the fist place...
"that didnt make sense see wot its doing to me"
I will do wot HTC wants:
Diamond 1st then wait for the Touch Pro....
So they can sell the same product again & again & again with suttle changes and a shiny new look....like every other company...
Lets have your comments or advice.....
Forget the Diamond - wait for the Pro.

Bite your tongue man!!
In IT, there is always something bigger and better just around the corner, you just have to decide when your going to bite the bullet and buy a phone.
HTC will soon make something better than the Pro, do you wait for that?
Diamond Pro for me
pro for me
i hope tmobile usa will get the pro by years end .... i like the diamond but the pro is the icing on the cake.... found out that tombile uk is getting one of them soon think its the diamond
I must admit that I'm getting tempted by the Diamond. Rumours are that it will be out on Orange in a few days. Still no word on the Pro.
Play.com say they're going to have them on 29 of August for £549.99

The Universal isn't the most pocketable of devices... And there have been offerings from other companies (Toshiba G9XX anyone?), but the Raphael is probably the best yet!
lol i guess i must have big pockets, the uni was an excellent device in its time, and whilst there have been offerings from other manufacturers, I was talking about HTC
the only issue with either of these phones with me is that they are both only triband... i need quad..if it wasnt for that I would jump all over either one really.

G900, i have one and its higher res than the universal and roughly the same size as the TyTN
800x480. However, res aint everything. I am now downgrading on screen real-estate to an Omni because, whats the point in having a tv that will do 1080p but is only 32inch? There ain't none. I now question 640x480. It's all very well having sharpness but, on 2./3.2inch screens, that are essentialy phones, does it make any practical diference? I'm sure there are people who watch movies on there phones but no one can honestly say they are any good at this - yea, yeah, it will play and you can watch it but, come on, its rubbish quality compared to pmp's.
I spoke to orange cs today regarding the Diamond they said if HTC dont change their mind
it shoud be out by the middle of this month @ the latest.....
I've made my mind up im getting it... "THE HTC DIAMOND"
and i cant wait.
The last time i upgraded it became a 12 month contract in stead of 18 so it aint so bad....
""" if i hear that THE PRO wont be delayed much longer i just mite consider waiting"""
i got my ELF as soon as it was released & within a month they released the Vogue & the Nike...
I was gutted but then when i found out that the Nike aint got WiFi,smaller screen and a slide out keyboard that aint much help etc etc etc...i was smiling again (-)
but as 1 of you said ""DO YOU JUST KEEP WAITING AND NEVER HAVE WHAT YOU WANT""
I want 1 & i want it now.....
I cant believe how many ppl have viewed my post looks like its gonna go a long way.............keep em cumming......

I have a few questions that I'm sure one of you all have the answer to. I am in dire need of a new phone, currently using a pos Treo 750. I am stuck between the Xperia and the Touch Pro as most are. Will the Touch Pro work on the T-mobile USA network? Do I have to wait for a US release of the phone or can I purchase one overseas to use thats unlocked? Sorry for all the question but I'm kinda new to all this.
I am looking to trade my TyTN II for a touch pro. My mobile is used with installed Dutty ROM and WM 6.1 . It is in a great condition with no scratches etc (on mobile or screen). Ill also through in my old Tytn for free wich is in a "usable condition", which means the software is 100% working with WM6 but the exterior is used. Do you think this is a fair deal ? Also, is anyone intrested?
Waiting for your responce thank you

I'd trade a touch pro for a tytn III. yeah. thats right, III.
Here in Cyprus the touch pro has the exact same price as the tytn II. I don't find it so strange that you would make fun of. I am sure many people would prefare the tytn II against the touch pro, then again anyone is allowed too have an opinion.
Honestly, if you check prices at your local store you will see that many of the older HTC models are more expensive than the newer ones, and date of release plays little role in these hardware driven devices...

Considering the touch pro is either equal or better than tytn II in every way (unless you prefer QVGA) there really isn't much reason to downgrade. Any touch pro owner not happy with the phone would be better off outright selling it than trading for a far inferior phone that does not match the value. I'm not trying to be mean, it really is a bad trade.

That´s a good question
On my opinion is not the "official" succesor but it´s the closer we can have till now on the new devices
Of course that fantastic swivel to move from micro lap top to PDA will hardly repeated again...
Me as Universal user as my main phone/PDA I think it´s a not replacement but it´s something to consider as has nice screen and nice keyboard
I don´t think HTC will launch another device more similar at least in 2 years (Hope I´m wrong)
Just my opinion
I might be wrong but I don’t think HTC made enough money with Universal. Furthermore a Building Successor for Universal would be much more expensive than current existing devices.
With the current economy situation I don’t think HTC will risk putting a device on to market which will or cannot amortise the R&D cost.
I believe TP2 is good/best choice for replacing Universal.

I read from Brighthand, ASUS is going to produce a similar model. We need to wait for more specs to come out though. Hopefully it will have a faster processor.

If you think you can make a difference, go ahead...POWER to you my friend. But in all honesty, I don't think they will listen. I remember there was a petition here regarding those missing drivers sometime ago...what happened? NOTHING. HTC have a good working relationship with Qualcomm. It is not purely Qualcomm's fault, HTC has a bigger role played, I am dismayed at Qualcomm for letting HTC degrade their processors.
Well currently I am struggling again with making my decision.
Currently the Touch HD in Hong Kong cost ca. USD 650-700. 3months later when Touch pro2 will come out the price will be further down to I guess 500-600USD. But in other side the Pro2 sure will cost ca. 800-950USD in the beginning.
Looking to the Technical Spec on those 2 devices it comes down really to the keyboard. Now the question: is it worth TO PAY 300-400$ more for having device that has a keyboard.. What you guys think???

Its a matter of lifestyle. When I used the Pocket PC I thought I would never need a physical keyboard. But since using the Universal, I wonder how I will do without one! It speeds things up considerablly especially when traveling. I would approach the subject differently - read the reviews and take note of the shortcomings of the HD as a phone. The features of the TP2 outway the cost factor - and you have a keyboard when required. TP2 seems to be more business orientated.

Well, the amount of $ is a lot!, but as a happy Universal user and having tested a lot of "non physical keyboard" devices, I can say that it will never be compared!
Physical keyboard and specially Uni one is the fastest way to type.
It will depend on the use of the device, if only for watching videos and music then kb is not important, but if you use it for typing mesaages, e-mail and surfing (Like I do) then kb is VERY important...
So if we don´t rush to buy devices as soon as they are launched (Wich compnies want us to do) then we wait a few months and a new one appear and that is the perfect time to buy!
COnsumism will never stop, but we inteligent consumers have to think when is the best time to buy.
Ok, so I have a decision to make, and only till Wednesday to make it ...
Currently, I have the Palm Treo Pro. It's a GOOD phone, I LOVE the keyboard and I love how small/light it is. I DO NOT like the proprietary USB of the "end" key as its uber sensitive. Also, most of my programs don't work on the screen (OliveTree Bible, Mud Inc. Pocket Cribbage, and Handmark Monopoly V1) ... so my other options are
HTC Diamond - I get $ back, but, I lose microSD Card or HTC Pro, I pay around $100 more, but I get the microSD Card slot and sliding keyboard.
WiFi is important, and I should point out, I am on the TELUS Network.

THIS IS NOT THE TOUCH PRO 2! This is the Touch Pro. Version 1. Telus Mobility DOES NOT HAVE TP2 yet and won't till probably December or January ...
I think they're all recommending that you wait for the TP2, they understand that you're talking about the TP1. I well third and fourth that notion. If you can wait for the TP2, it'll be well worth it. You'll probably have to pay quite a bit of money without a contract.
However, to answer your question, i'd definitely go with the TP over the Diamond.

I can't wait 14-18 months for the TP2 (which is about how long Telus will take to get it *L* as they have ONLY had the Treo Pro for about a month!) ... I think I'll go on Wednesday and get the Touch Pro.
Then why don't U buy it unlocked from another country next month
Because Telus is CDMA but soon (2010) to be UMTS/HSPA

Where on Earth do you live???? Sahara??? Middle of the Atlantic ocean?
Ok some usefull info for you:
Diamond - has serious heat issues and its very well know to fry its own screen. HTC are constantly fighting people and refusing to repair faulty units. I owned one and then returned it as it could also not play music without jumping/skipping. Both these issues can be easily found by going to the Diamond section of these forums.
TouchPro - (not the TP2 as everyone else seems to have got confused over) Never owned one so comments are limited to what can be read on this forum but, I miss having a keyboard and am now ordering an Asus on Monday that has a keyboard. Typing an email on the Diamond was a pain in the a*&e and its only marginaly easier on the bigger screen of my Omnia.
Palm thingy - never owned one, never used one. Can't comment.
If I HAD to chose between these then in all honesty, i'd probably keep the Palm! Why? HTC build quality sucks donkey balls. Its a well known and easily googled reputation. Its a shame really as they spec out the phones very well and seem to have every intention of making excellent devices, just somewhere the penny pinchers seem to take control and quality drops.
Best of luck with whatever you chose today
edit:
Diamond overheat issue - dont think anymore needs to be said on this
Music link - with $125 reward for fix
Music link - check out how many pages!
And just for good measure, another music link
Very quick google brings up over 32000 hits on hardware quality

Maybe the guy doesn't have/want to spend hundreds of £/€/$ on a phone?
OK so ... I was downtown yesterday, getting my Security Guard License and walked through Toronto Eaton Centre ... and I picked up the Touch Pro.
So far, I'm happy. I'm still testing things out and seeing what is good etc but ALL my games work, all my programs work AS THEY ARE SUPPOSED to, and I'm happy ...

Especially a phone that only does 3G at 2100MHz to use in a country that uses 850/1900.
