Can't copy Vox ad2p drivers in WM6 tornado ROM - HTC Tornado

Hi, I requested VOx ad2p from a vox user, but I can't copy them in windows folder, the error message says that the original files are in ROM, how do I unlock the ROM please?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319326

Do you really need them? Internal drivers work IMHO pretty enough! Of course, after correcting of some registry keys

DO NOT USE THESE DLLS!!!
I have no ability to use A2DP now XR again...

If you need to remove this files, just rename it and reboot. After reboot delete renamed files.

I can not rename these files, they are locked.

This procedure need only if you install files from VOX rom to your WM6 tornado device and they do not work.
You must rename these files directly on your smartphone. Do not use BB (big brother) for this procedure, and all will be fine.

What ROM are you using? "Tornado Windows Mobile 6 ALPHA"?
Can you provide the registry settings? (export them with Resco Registry ,please)

CAB not deleted after install. How to delete them ?

As we know, by default when you install CAB it will get deleted after installation.
Some of cooked ROMs will disable this feature, so CAB will stay after installation. Which is OK for many people.
Here is my question. When I install new program using PC (through ActiveSync) it seems that ActiveSync will transfer CAB file (which is inside .exe) and then - install it as usual. So ... where will be those CAB files located and will they be deleted after installation if delete-cab-after-install feature is disabled ?
During TRANSFER ActiveSync does not ask .... "Do you want your CAB to be transferred to SD card or main memory", right ? It only asks during INSTALLATION of the CAB.
I make lots of installations using ActiveSync and would like to know if I'm not filling my valuable disk space (on phone itself) with junk CAB files.

Thats why I prefer to extract the cab out of the C:\Programs\Activesync and copy them to SDcard. Pro: you have all needed programs on SDcard and do not have to install throu activesync.

Also if you make the files readonly you don't need to worry about making the registry change to stop them being deleted after installation.

New WM6 ROM kitchen (from Ranju)

Hello Friends,
I have managed the new WM6 kitchen based on Ivan's new (17913.0.3.0) build. This is a clean vanilla kitchen, you can add your own flavor and the way you want it.
I've uploaded the kitchen to the following url and hope that you will like it.
http://www.siemens-bd.net/files/000000
Files have been splited into 10 parts (5MB each) because of my unstable internet connection here. Uploading a 50MB file for me is simply a nightmare! Please download all of them and unrar.
You will find two cmd files (1. BuildKitchen.cmd and 2. CreateROM.cmd) inside the ROM_DEV folder after the unrar.
Step-1: Run the BuildKitchen.cmd (first time only), it will dump the rom and prepare the kitchen for you.
[Additionally, you may use it to dump other WM6 rom and prepare the kitchen. In that case, decode the rom, copy (or overwrite) the nk.nba file to the ROM folder and run this cmd to build the kitchen.]
Step-2: Run the CreateROM.cmd to build the rom...as usual.
You will find a Ranju_OEM folder under the ROM_DEV folder. Some of the oem packages have been added if anyone is interested to use. Just copy your desired packages to the OEM folder and build the rom.
And finally, all credit goes to Ivan. Special thanx to Helmi, Midget, Bepe and Tuatara for their tools and support.
By the way, I've a limited bandwidth to this server, it will be great if someone mirror it somewhere.
Best regards,
Ranju

Clean Vanilla: What did you remove from the ROM?

BuildOS stops on error: the file 'temp\dump\Thumbs.db' already exists
I've just checked the OEM folder.
Very good Job: just like i was thinking. Probably I don't need any other apps for OEM.

Did you modify any cmd file?
If not, then delete the temp folder. Do a search on SYS & OEM for "Thumbs.db" and delete them if found any. Run the CreateROM.cmd.
I suppose "Thumbs.db" have been created by your picture browser apps.
"Thumbs.db" is a file that Windows XP (and Vista) create if you preview a picture or movie. Its not important at all (although Windows will complain that it is a "System File")
(Nifty fact: Windows XP can create the "thumbs.db" file in a read-only network share!)
Thanks for the info, i'll try deleting and recompile.
Deleted, compiled and flashed: every essential function i tested is working. The kitchen is very clean! Many thanks ranju!
Little update of the kitchen
This is a little update of the kitchen:
* Due to the slow response of the phone, dialing/ending tone have been removed
* Update for HTC Task Manager 1.5 (Exclusive apps can be added now)
Please download the zip and copy/replace to the associated folder.
Update: HTC Task Manager cab attached.

Can you please make a cab of it so that we can install. Dont want to go through re in stalling rom. Appreciate
Or if you can advice the registry entries for both above issues please.
Phone.cab
A cab file for the file in phone.zip is not that difficult since it's just a couple of registry entries.
The other one is more difficult since it also includes files.
So just to help a little, a cab file for the registry stuff in the phone.zip
Actually not that difficult
When comparing the old and new files, I noticed that just the RGU file is different.
Since this is the file with registry settings, I made a quick cab for it.
So not to replace the previous HTC Manager install or anything like that, just to corrent the registry entries.
ps. This and the previous file are not made/reviewed/anything by Ranju, but I've just given them him (her?) name to avoid confusion.

How I can do to backup the ROM of my phone before I flashing a new ROM?

Hi
But flashing the ROM loose all personnal data.
How can we do to dump all the phone, ROM + data (SMS, contact, file, etc....) ?
Thx
I found this on the forum:
This is the way i backup my phone
Your phone should be Registry and App unlocked..
Sync your phone, copy folders /Application Data - /Program Files - /Windows/Start Menu - /Windows/Start Up - to your Desktop (PC)
Install Registry Explorer with Resco Registry
Export HKCR,HKCU, HKLM then copy the .reg files on PC
Backup Contact, SMS, Call History with Jeyo Mobile Companion
--NOW DO YOUR HARD RESET OR REFLASHING THE SAME ROM--
Now, restoration...
App Unlock your device
Copy folders /Application Data - /Program Files - /Windows/Start Menu - /Windows/Start Up - to your Phone thru Active Sync. (Overwrite all)
Copy the .reg files from your PC to phone..
Install Resco Explorer with Resco Registry and Import the .reg files
Restore your Contacts thru Jeyo Mobile Companion
Restart device
there you go, you got now a clean setup of your device with all your apps and customizations. One thing, some apps wont work/launch with this procedure, you may need to reinstall them and if you try to, it will prompt that it couldn't be removed and if you wanna still continue installing, just hit Yes and install it on the same directory where it was on your previous setup.

download the latest qtek rom from xda:[email protected] and keep copy wid ya if ya need.
I believe that is enough simpler to make a backup with Sprite Backup before flash the ROM. If one becomes to the previous ROM (with which backup was made) it recovers the ready backup.
Although I have not proven it, I believe that also it would serve a copy done with ActiveSync.
Greetings
Sprite backup is the right choice! Just make a backup from your file system to the storage card, and if you want to downgrade your OS, just do that, and then run the backup file (it's an executable file). That's all!

maybe this is good for you:
http://www.smartmobil.no/index.php?name=UpDownload&req=getit&lid=84
thx for your support, but I think this is the version for QTEK-8300
Or you can use XDA-Tools
Sprite backup shouldnt be used when going from WM5 to WM6, it will corrupt your PIM and mail databases...
As for the original ROM for the Qtek 8310:

You have to extract the Opera9 file and copy directly to Windows.
It is all.
Best Regards,
Hi, what you have said is a bit vague. the extrated file from the download is an exe file so dnt i need to run it once i copy it over? and what windows directory? do you mean the windows folder on the device memory? not the opera9 folder in the windows directory?
so your asking i copy the exe file into the windows folder on the device memory and just run the exe? is that what i do?
please explain properly (full file path and instructions)
Thank you very much

Yes you have to copy Opera9 file to the Windows device memory, then you will be asked to overwrite, so you should tam yes.
Afterthat you can normally run Opera web browser but in new version.

I deleted the existing Opera.exe file from the Windows folder and copied this one, but the app won't start. I think it has something to do with the attributes of the new exe file. The ROM attribute is ghosted. Any ideas?
Thanks
Procedure is clear to me. Just overwrite .exe file with new .exe file
But to spare me hazzle and spending one day to revert: does this change my opera-settings which I tweaked in operaconfig or goof them by incompatibility ?
Does this new build support flash better than the old one ?
What EXACTLY can the new build better than the old one ?

I have similar questions,my opera is skinned and as troed mentioned
several operaconfig tweaks including having moved the Cache.
Anyone know whether these will all need re-doing if we upgrade
to newer version ?
In short is it worth the effort just to have a different version number ?
