Hi, i'm trying this rom making thing and the config has
cusTSK.exe
but the config from my rom doesn't have that.
what does cusTSK.exe do? do i need it? thanks
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=310698&highlight=cusTSK.exe
or search the forum or google for cusTsk.exe
i searched and thats the same topic i found.
but it doesn't tell me wat it does and if i need it.
cuz the rom i used to use didn't have it in it's config.
so do i still need it?
thanks
tsk is the typical extention of today skin files maybe it's some fix required for some rom version for some tsk files
if your device dont have that maybe it's because it's not required with the rom anymore
if it does maybe it's still required

Hi all
i'm a new rom cooker and i've built my first rom n successfuly flashed it and its all good! One thing i can't find is the Network Setup thing
for example on Duttys Roms when you first boot it asks you to auto setup your Network Provider (Eg Orange UK)
where can i find a cab for this?
also the PACKAGE to use to cook into my rom?
yes i have tried searching but not exactly sure what its called, searching Network Setup doesnt bring anything good up ..
Thanks
Did you try this? Not sure if that is it or not.
ah Dutty made it duuuhhh!! Thats the one many thanks i'll build it myself into a package thanks
Looks like the password for provision.zip is no longer '1234'. Searching and googling didn't locate the new password, does anyone have it?
Connection setup (a.k.a. Network Wizard) is included within my OEM Packages, which can be found in my cooking kit threads.

Found it:
030D681B-1DFC-4bd0-A72A-A9B3CCCDA653
I am able to unzip the new provision.zip with 030D681B-1DFC-4bd0-A72A-A9B3CCCDA653.
I am able to unzip the provision.zip, then the prov.zip and then the individual setting zip files using this PW. But strange thing that is happenning is that when I zip the files again the size of the final provision.zip reduces by about 150KB. And when packed in the Kitchen the utility does not work. where am I going wrong?
Can you kindly guide me?
Actually I was compelled to edit the provision.zip because the settings in it were wrong corresponding to my service provider. So I needed to modify those settings..

Hi all,
I need some advice on doing something that was fairly easy to do in WM6.0 ROMs, which is changing the default keyboard skin by replacing the msim.96.dll.0409.mui file.
I've tried a number of WM6.1 ROMs and this does not work. The only way I have been able to get the .mui file working was to re-cook the ROM and using an OEM package. Even after I re-cook with a new keyboard skin and try to replace the .mui file it does not work. Very strange.
Any of the cooks out there have any ideas why this is? I did a reg. dump of a ROM with and without the keyboard OEM package but did not find anything specific that would show why this does not work.
Appreciate any feedback. I know this works without any issues in WM6.0 ROMs.
Thank you.
Don't know what your doing wrong buddy but most of the time you need to cook the new .mui file in like I always do and i have no issue with the WM6.1 roms ever using the grey keyboard that I always use in my roms. To get this straight your dumping the rom and then copying the new .mui file right over the old file if there is one at all then rebuilding the rom? that is the only way it will work you can't copy over it once you have rebuilt the rom it needs to be cooked in.
austinsnyc,
Thanks for the response.
If I cook the .mui file in a ROM it works fine. The problem is not being able to replace the file (even though the file is overwritten). I was able to do this in WM6.0 ROMs but it doesn't seem this is possible in WM6.1 ROMs and I just wanted to confirm it.
So if I dump, change file, re-cook, works fine. I guess I'll have to do that with any of the new WM6.1 ROMs I end up running.
Thanks again.

Actually you can change it easily via cab install but you need to sign it first. You can try the attached cab, and here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1610615&postcount=3 for other skin.
Try this. First import the attached Keyboard Cert registry file (use dotfred's task manager which does registry editing, or resco registry editor). Once you do that, you should be able to use the various keyboard cabs. I've attached one that has like 20 keyboard styles you can choose from (uses mortscript to do this). Choose the one you want, soft reset, and presto...

sakajati,
Works fine now. Thanks for the links.
mfrazz,
Thanks for the info also! Appreciate it.
I have got the ROM Image Editor. I edit the nbh file of the ROM. I need to know how to add my cab files to the ROM so it gets installed automatically as I flash the ROM. This will help get things up running promptly with each new ROM I install.
Anyone can help ?
SASHIMI check my ROM thread for download if can't find....
already use Sashimi
I already have Sashimi 8.0 & I use it. But I see building the cabs within a new ROM in way that gets them all installed as I flash the ROM, would be great & fast.
I have the ROM Image Editor but I just don't know where to add the cabs within the ROM folders to reach the target.
Is there anyone who can help on this ?
Cooking
You're going to have to cook them into your ROM, which won't be in the form of .cab's any more. They'll be in EXT. And everytime you change roms, you'll have to extract whichever rom you dl, and recook it with the programs you want in there. SASHIMI is probably your best bet unless you feel like spending a lot of time on each and every ROM just so that when you flash it the programs are already in there.
Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm off base here, but it's probably not worth it for speed and ease issues.
Happy Flashing!

What ROM editor are you using? Perhaps htcRIE_0.5.0.12 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=377514 ?
If that´s the one you are using I don´t think is capable to do what you want, as drumboy said: Cooking is the way

Yes it is htcRIE_0.5.0.12. Do you know how to install the cabs in a ROM ?
Usually after a ROM is installed & during customization, some cabs appear in folder Volatile & are then installed. Can I place my cabs along those ?

Ok if you want to install it after flash, then you can do it a few different ways, like UC, XDA_UC or tom's autoinstall. But for all those you need to cook them in the ROM.
If you dont have it cooked in, then shashmi or programs similar to those will help.
You cant edit a ROM using htcRIE, in the sense add cabs and stuff, and recompile it to make it bootable in my opinion.
You can play with it and see! If the ROM is using runCC, then you need to add cabs, and mofify config_operator.txt file to add those cabs to execute in first boot.
Hope this helps.
I flashed my HD2 to the newest official ROM and i discovered that it's not possible to rename and/or delete system files like manila files anymore!
Why is this??
With my old ROM i could rename manila files to *.bak and then delete them using Total commander but with the new ROM this isn't possible! I'm really desperate, I don't know what to do!
Could it be that HTC made the new firmware more secure?
Any solutions???
I found out that I can't copy my welcomehead to the windows folder anymore...it just wouldn't let me...
there has to be a registry entry somewhere, just can't find it at the moment.

I dont have the phone yet or WM6.5 so I cant comment too much but you could try reflashing the rom and see how that affects things. Did you flash the rom using a gold card or just update an official rom?
Hi may i ask where you got this official rom update from? as i have not been able to find it on any htc website

Sorry for hijacking your thread dude! Do what this guy says, try to re-flash your Rom and see if that helps.

Rename your new welcomehead from welcomehead.192 to welcomehead.193 and copy it into the windows folder. Then use the Advanced Configuration Tool 3.3 (it needs MS Framework 3.5 to be installed to work) and go to Splash Screen. There you have to click the first green entry and change the path from windows/welcomehead.192.png to windows/welcomehead.193.png. Then Softreset. Now you have a new welcomehead, even with new ROM. Have fun!

Make it the way i told you, you don't have to change something in the windows folder to have a new startup screen.
^I did it and it worked great. thanks
But there are some other issues...for example if you want to enable navi panel or hidden games you need to copy some files into the start menu folder but that is not possible because the ROM won't let you.
any solution for the others?
Hey all,
I have been around here for some days now and got almost every Info I was looking for but now there is something...
I downloaded a Rom (Shipped and rebuild I think) and opened it with the HTC Image Editor. There I took the "os" and there the "imgfs"
There I found all the files, some where already known (the weather xml i.e.) and some I just messed around with after I extracted the files.
My Question now is : If I modify any file in this "imgfs" will it still be possible to flash this Rom ? And, is there a file that tells the Rom what to install ? Like a Autostart File or something ?
The Point is that I downloaded many very nice Roms from here and so on but every Time I find things I don´t need or I don´t want. So it would be nice to build my very own, small Rom just for me
I am 100% sure those Questions were asked already but I searched and searched... I really hope that someone here will grab his time and help me poor dummy out
Nice, very nice Forum !!
Thanks for any constructive Answer
