I guess this normally isnt such an issue but Ive been using the slide2unlock program which is pretty neat. Anyways it can do full screen caller id pictures which is great. However, it ends up just zooming in on my picture and looks like crap. The pic I used is a 2mp picture so its gotta be fairly large (well larger than the screen thats for sure)... Anyways anyway in general to get higher quality images out of WM6? And if anyone know in relation to Slide2Unlock as well that would be great
Thanks
anyone know?
do u have the link to this program?
I guess to save space the phone saves the contact picture with certain compression and size. Slide2Unlock just use the contact picture that you have assigned to that contact and stretches it because it's too small.
I belive you have no option to use a bigger image, it's a OS "feature" to save space/memory and improve speed.
But I may be extremely wrong.
It's not what is asked, but I suggest you to use Photo Contact Pro
with the caller id actived... in the S2U the image in fullscreen mode.... its to bad like a gaussing blur image... i re-size for 150x159 pixels... and the problem is the same...
how to have a highehr quality images in the caller id..... thanx

I am using the XDA Mobile 6 r2a ROM and all is well except the dialer.
The contact's picture shows up very tiny. So my question is which
dialer for WM6 shows the largest picture?
Ummm..... Now I'm using NBD 8.0, very nice. May decide to keep vs cooking my own. All it needs IMO is MuN keyboard, Calc lite & Novii remote toy!
Still question is, which dialer shows the largest / biggest / contact / picture / photo? So far I'm seeing teeny tiny contact pics and that's not too great.
I HAVE searched these posts but I keep missing! ANY help would be appreciated.

Show us a nice screen capture
Depends on which picture you want bigger. When someone is calling you and there number pops up, and you have a photo associated with them, if that is what you want big, then I would leave it at the default wm6 dialer. Not the one you have, which I believe is from the HTC touch rom. Now if you mean the photo on the dialer itself when you are making a call or on a call, Then the biggest picture I've seen is using Pauly Eten Dialer Classics. They show a very big picture on the dialer itself. Hope that helps
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give it a shot this week and report my results.
Hey everyone, the Touch functions on my Prophet are working great for the most part, but I want to know how big the pictures for the contacts have to be. I find that when I let the PDA resize pictures automatically they become blurry or just too sharpened to look good. I really would like to have good looking pictures in the cube.
Does anyone know the best resolution or mode to place pictures in your contact list?
I've been messing with Wizard TNT5.0 TouchFlo and I realized that my contact pictures in the Cube were looking a bit... blocky. Except for the ones that I took pictures of using the "Contact Picture" mode in camera. Obviously that's the resolution I should be using, right?
Wrong.
I tried converting these pictures (the ones that seem blocky) to the same resolution as pictures taken under "contact picture", which is 320x240 96dpi. When I did just that, I got the same results.
This pixilish look also looks the same in Slide2Unlock's fullscreen Caller ID. It doesn't look like that with pictures taken with "contact picture".
Now my question is...
Is there some other resolution I should be looking at? Is there something I'm missing?
Or maybe there's a program that can help me convert these pixilish pictures to the right resolution for the cube and Slide2Unlock.
Thanks guys. As a digital imager myself this is irritating me.
I think i found the answer in the touch form: it is from a guy called mangakun

100% PocketCM>Person>Set Pictures...>w240_h320.PNG/BMP

10% BuiltinWM6ContactList>Person>Edit>Change picture...>w72_h75.PNG/BMP
Note: w320_h240.PNG, w320_h240.BMP, w72_h75.PNG, w72_h75.BMP are copies made from a photo, and transfered into external memory.
Thanks to PocketCM for solving this annoying quality problem.

And it works ok but i found that when you resize them 260h_240w they are even better and more on scale
for slide2unlock i don't have the answer because i am not using it anymore.
there is a mode mode of Camera application that is capturing pictures in proper aspect ratio and size.

260x240 seems a bit odd. I'll check it out. So far 320x240 really isn't working out for me though, I don't know why...
Does anyone know of a decent freeware WM6.1-compatible picture editor? One that could be used to alter the contrast, brightness and colour of a photo?
I've found that very very few photos can be effectively used as a Home screen background unless they are very dark. The white & grey text become unreadable otherwise.
So ideally I want to darken some pics I have and see if they work better. It'd be nice to be able to do this actually on the phone.
Cheers!
personally i use photoshop..not a freeware..anyway what i wanted to say is that it doesnt need to be "made" for WM6.1...you just need it to be able to resize or crop the image..
TP resolution: width:480 x height:640

Photoshop isn't freeware. Nor does it run on WM6.1. It's not cropping the image that's the problem - the picture viewer on the TP allows resizing and cropping already.
The problem is altering the brightness, contrast and colours of a photo.
I'm looking to be able to do this on the phone itself, preferably using freeware. I already have Photoshop on my PC.
Hope that makes it a little clearer...

That looks like the baby, thanks, I'll give it a go!
Hmmm, just tried it out. It looks like it has the features I want, but for some reason, whenever I edit a picture, it doesn't save the changes, which is a bit frustrating!
For instance, if I highlight a picture, select Tools > Adjust, I get the screen where I can, for instance, reduce the brightness. Then when I hit the "Adjust" button, it just goes back to the file viewer, and the picture is unaltered.
Most odd!

i know its not freeware that what i said too
i thought you wanted a program that will allow you to make wallpapers, not that it would run on the mobile itself
Have you checked the Diamond section by the way?
Hi Jim,
I've just tried increasing the brightness of an image on my TP with XnView Pocket 1.40 and it seems to work fine. I can adjust the brightness etc and then when I hit the 'Adjust' button a message pops up saying:
The Image xxxxx has been adjusted and and has been saved into xxxxx_m.jpg.
It doesn't alter the original image, it saves the image to an altered file and adds the '_m' to the file name.
I've attached a screen shot of what happens on my TP, are you saying you don't see this screen after you hit the 'Adjust' button?
Cheers,
D.
Hmmm. It wasn't working with a particular picture which was about 8 Megapixels. I cropped it down to about 6 Megapixels in "Pictures & Videos" and then tried again in Xnview and all of a sudden it started working.
Perhaps there is a bug which causes it to fail if the picture is too big?
Actually I think I've sussed the problem - the original file was set to read-only!!! D'oh!
(Would've been nice if the app had reported that though...)
Ah, could be connected to the size of the image. I was using a file that was about 600Kb I must admit. I don't use this often to manipulate images but it is useful to have.
If you're manipulating large images then it may be a task only for your PC.
Cheers & good luck.

I can also use commercial Resco Photo Viewer, but very good freeware editor is UltraG. It is an old-school software with many functions, but a bit complicated,so be patient to use it.
Hi there
I have added photo for contact but the resolution is v bad! please advise what actual size should I add?
Yes i also would like to know this. What resolution should the pictures be for better appearence??
you have to add the pictures from the people tab for better res
The picture quality in the TF3D "Persons"-Tab ist very low. The pictures i put on the phone for this contacs are in a very good resulution. How is it posible to change this quality?
Hope the other people had the same question an the last post is not realy an answer?!?!?
thx
wm3k
This has been answered before, I know because it helped me out no end.
1. Add the contact to the favourites tab in TF3D
2. Click the Menu softkey (right softkey) and choose the Change Picture option
3. Simply select the same picture again.
It will now be crystal clear (provided you are using clear pictures to start with)

Thanks mate! It works now.
I just re-imported the favorites pictures through the TF3D interface, and all of the pictures were rescaled to 256 pixels high.
The pictures still have 24 bit color depth.
the best if you prepare pictures 256x256 pixels, 28 pixels/inch resolution, and save them as 24bit RGB .png files. Otherwise it uses internal mechanism to re-scale them, which affects picture quality.
The images that end up on a contact in Outlook using this method thru TF3D are much better quality/resolution than you can attach by using Outlook directly.
Is there a way to attach high quality images like this by using Outlook or some other tool on a PC rather than the phone? i.e. how could I get high quality images like this on my contacts if I didn't have this phone?
Thanks for the answer. Works great!
