Is it possible to change the Ringer tone for the Sms Messages?
Thanks!
Yeah, get any .wav file you want and chuck in in your Windows directory. Now go to Start, Settings, Sounds and Notifications, Notifications (tab) and select "Messaging: New Text Message" in the top drop-down box. Make sure "Play Sound" is ticked and then select the sound in the drop-down box. Your .wav file should be there.
Thanks !!!
I tried this but it doesn't work
Hi there,
I do not get SMS sound notifications even though I have set the notification as mentioned in the o2 instructions manual. A soft and hard reset do not resolve the issue.
Any thoughts on this? Is there a windows registry hack that I can carry out in order to resolve this?
Cheers!
Henry.
Hello,
I've got a problem with my VPA Compact II under WM6.
The ringtone from the normal phone-calls works fine, but for the incoming sms there is neither a ringtone nor a vibration signal.
Thanks for your help!
Start --> Settings --> Sounds and Notifications. Hit the Notifications tab, and select "New SMS" from the dropdown, then set whatever notification options you want.
I've already tried this, but it doesn't work. I could set the standard ringtone or another one, it doesn't work...
hey guys,
little thing that's bugging me:
can i seperate notification and delivery report tone so they are different, i've been messing round with it for ages but cant seem to do it, im trying to keep my txt tone and when i get the delivery report it will just make a little sound rather the sounding off like i have a txt message.
This has been bugging me on my DHD as well and now on One X, and one thing I am certain: up until 2 days ago, I had different sounds for SMS notification and SMS delivery, but while figuring out how to change SMS delivery sound, I ended up with the same sound for both SMS notification and SMS delivery
any help is much appreciated, especially if installation of other apps is not required (like Go SMS, Handcent SMS, Sms PopUp etc)...

Open message app, while on main app screen go to menu, settings, notification change what you need there.

TNX, but there is no option to change just the SMS delivery notification sound, only the notification sound for received messages and failure notification. Correct me if I'm wrong (and I was fiddling with those exact settings whole day long today).

This is what I have in my options. And I'm able to change the sounds. Not sure if it's what your looking for but hope it helps. The sent and failure sound may be the same. But I just tested the send sound and it worked for me.

hmmm... I believe I have figured it out, but it's not that logical... On the screen you've posted, I've changed received/notification sound to "facebook pop". Then I went to settings/personalize/sound/notification sounds/message and changed to the Incoming SMS sound I prefer. Now I have different sounds for SMS notification and SMS delivery.
The stupid thing is that when I go back to the screen you posted, it does not say "facebook pop", but the name of the notification sound I selected in settings/personalize/sound/notification sounds/message And if I mess with it, once again I have the same problem with the same sounds for SMS notification and SMS delivery... Let's hope this works after a reboot and such...
Thanks
Thanks mate. This was the only thing bugging me on my Wildfire S and you just solved my problem. Many many thanks.
no problem... It took me over a year and in the meantime I was being persuaded I just imagined my DHD had different incoming SMS and delivery notification sounds and that only third party apps might solve it, but I've cracked it finally :cyclops: I'm not saying I'm a genius or something, but it was not easy or logical :silly:
another explanation:
I found a fix for the HTC rezound, more of a glitch than a fix. If you go into your messages and hit settings, then notifications. Set the notification sound to what you want the delivery report sound to be. Then to change the SMS incoming, while at the home screen, go to personalize, then sound tab, notification sound, message sound and change that. Make sure that you DO NOT go back to the first step and check the notification sound in messages. If you do it will update and both will be the same. If you do not check it, they will be two different sounds.

This is so strange... cause it's been around since HTC Desire. And this is one of the reasons I changed the stock ROM on the Desire... and not it's back in this high end phone called HTC One X, unbelievable. Who would really want this "feature" in the first place?

Definitely a glitch on Android 2.3 & 4, but this is what you want. Working fine for me.
Took me forever to find this 'option'.
no audio delivery report
My handcent app recently updated to 4.5.1 and ever since then I have no audio delivery report. All settings are correct, and when i test the chosen audio report it works fine...but when I send an sms i get the faint vibrate but no audio...worked fine previously
Incoming Messages and Delivery Reports on Android 2.3.4
Yes, so for those who come for an answer to this thread for the related problem here is how it goes:
How to have different notification sounds for Incoming Messages and Delivery Reports on Android 2.3.4
DELIVERY REPORT SOUND:
On the "All Messages" screen, tap "Menu" button on your device and select "Settings". On that screen, under "Notifications", "Received Messages", select Notification sound for your DELIVERY REPORTS.
INCOMING MESSAGE SOUND:
Go to the general settings of your device! Select "Personalize", then tap sound. Under Notification Sounds - Messages, select your preferred sound for incoming messages.
Thanks to @joriq for this!
Thanks a lot guys, i had the same annoying problem and you gus helped me fix it immediately. Indeed its not logical to have such problem in htc but you are genious that you find the way. Thank you
Is there a workaround for this on Android 7? Running it on the HTC 10

It is Google who should fix it.
why is that? It works just fine on other phones, like my LG G4 and even custom HTC ROMs
