i have a HTC8125 and i want Wm6 on it i was wondering if some can guide me in the direction of getting it......
Read the stickies, read the wiki, and use the search function.
Here is a good place to start
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298613
and then read about each different ROM and Kitchen, and before you even think about flashing read, read, read, and then read some more. Or you can just pick a rom, and turn that beautiful new phone into a shiny little brick that you can use to stop your bedroom door from closing....
If you were expecting it to be easy... Sorry!
No one will spoon feed you here.... no one wants to be responsible for you bricking your phone...
ok....does anyone is there going to be a officail released for this phone, cuz i'll wait
no there will not be an official release for the 8125 i dont think...at least thats what they told me when i talked with them a couple months back, thats why i went hermes...

There will not be an official rom from any providers for the Wizard device.
If you take the time to read the sticky that badbert pointed you to, it has all the steps on how to do this. Its not rocket science, and as long as you follow all the directions you will be on your way to upgrading to WM6. But the point that was being made is, you need to read and understand what you are doing, or you have the potential to brick your phone.
Frazzz, u posting from ur phone again? lol
so should i flash my device now?
not until u follow all the directions every single step and not until u fully understan what u r doing... u will ruin ur phone if u dont read read read and understand
Yep, right now. Don't wait. Go grab a ROM and flash away. Make sure you don't read how to do it, either. I mean, why take advantage of all of the knowledge on this forum?
i have a feeling in about 20 minutes he will b asking how to fix his phone
no im really not i just got the phone it so im gonna take a chance since im new to this, about a day so i'll read on...
its really very easy to do when u follow the guide's and instructions in those threads.
what thread i was shown to one and its to flash i have no idea what rom to use that what i really wanted because that i wont go crazy looking for the right type, it a G3 HTC8125
Look, you need to read the entire how to flash sticky, then spend a few days reading the posts on this board. We're not going to tell you "Hey, use this one!"
alright i see i have one last questiob as i was reading the how to flash thred i found the last step confusing i'll quote
G3.8 You're reade to flash the AKU2, AKU3, WM6 rom of you're choise! It wasn't that hard, was it? If you still got an older OS version after flashing then you're not CID-unlocked! Go back to start!

AKU's are like Service Packs for Windows XP. If you want WM6, then you will flash one of the many WM6 roms. Just read the first post of each rom thread to see what the roms have in them to try to decide what you think will be what works for you. Then when you choose one, start reading the rest of the thread to see what issues / problems that rom might have. Some rom cooks may even try to update the first few posts with fixes / patches / cabs for you to use to fix the rom (or make the rom work better).
But take your time. There is no rush on upgrading. Don't ruin your new phone...
so as you flash you putting Wm6 on your phone? sorry im really consufed
or how do you know if its a Wm6 Rom?
because i dont think anyone here is cooking windows mobile 5 roms for a Wizard... flash a term used when you are installing a ROM image to your phone. trust me, if you read enough you will know which roms are WM6... if you dont know then chances are you didnt read enough. i swear we have answered this question for you already
since u say your phone is a G3 read THIS thread!

i have my HTC 8125 mobile with WM5 OS.
i didnt unlock my CID yet but I will unlock it later right after if someone answers my important question that always twinkling in my mind.
Upgrading roms for WM5 to WM6 is just like installing a application? ( sorry coz this is my first time to do this.)
currently downloading Xplore1.1 and farias rom. is it alrady overclocked when i installed one of those? do i need to overclock my mobile?
thanks alot!
I would stick with Xlpore's Rom, since you didn't mention that you had a 4g or 3g, since it will work great on both. Just extract those files and run it, simple as that. If i were you i would read up a little on the whole process. nothing like having a $200 brick cause you didn't know what you were doin

Dude, you have a LOT of reading to do before I'd suggest you even start to do this (based on that question alone). No, its not like installing an application. You are installing an entire new OS (Installing, not Upgrading). So when you do this, its going to wipe out everything on your phone (not your SD card, but on your phone's internal memory).
I'd highly advise you to read and understand whats in the Wiki for the wizard. Then read and understand the stickies at the top of this forum and the ones at the top of the Wizard Upgrading forum.
For the sake of your phone, make sure you understand this stuff. Don't just run an executable because it sounds cool. I'm not trying to scare you off or anything, I just want you to understand what you are looking at doing and understand that flashing custom roms isn't the fix to everything.
Understand also that these custom roms are (for the most part) test things. There are bugs, there are quirks, and there are things that flat don't work. Sure, for the most part they give you more power, and a better functioning phone, but for some of the roms that requires tweaking to get it to that point, so you need to understand what is involved (people here will assist, but we won't spoon feed).
Here's an excellent post with TONS of pointers to information (yeah its buried in the XPLore thread. We need to pull this out into the Wiki or make a sticky with this):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1206964&postcount=894
Read and learn before you start flashing. You will save yourself a lot of grief, and may even save the life of your phone.

You definately need to read the Wiki before you do anything. It gives you step by step instruction and will most definately make flashing your device easier. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to PM me. Good luck.

You've already been given instructions and links on how to downgrade ipl/spl. One person even provided a cab especially for you that should have downgraded your ipl/spl (and you say it only did the ipl..as I recall) Yes it can be done...many of us manage it every day. If you can't get it to work perhaps you need to take it to someone and pay them to do it..and perhaps next time don't be in such a rush to jump to the latest/greatest version.
WELL i need to no do u no or no anything that can lower my spl
Either 1) You've managed to damage your phone to such a extent that the NORMAL downgrade procedures will not work or 2) You can't follow instructions.
In either case, you need to take your phone to someone who repairs them and pay them to fix the issue.

Yes, and the instructions you SHOULD have followed are in the 6th and 8th post.
You are a perfect example of why the more experienced posters (I'm not claiming to be one of them) no longer want to answer questions on this board. You have been given the answer multiple times...you ignore it.and then you post multiple times asking the same thing.
Whatever rom you currently have installed...keep using it or buy a simpler phone that you can handle.

I just read this entire thread and agree with you entirely. I am by no means an expert and have no knowledge of G3 since I have a G4 but at least I can read and only ask questions when I really can't figure it out and then actually listen to whoever is helping me. I like helping people with what I do know, but this thread is just rediculous.
you can downgrade from 3.08 IPL/SPL by flashing the stock 2.26 tmobile ROM. i do it before every flash. i flash back to the 2.26 ROM to lower my IPL/SPL, then i flash my new ROM, then i flash 3.08 IPL/SPL. works every time...totally repeatable. STOP BEING A EFFIN NOOB

I see a lot of people get flamed for asking simple questions, and in some respect some of them need to be flamed because they don't read or ask the same question that was asked in a post just up the page. But this guy is reached out to ask and you took the time to teach , you are a credit to this forum. and I thank you.

One other piece of information that may or may not be in the wiki is if you have a choice of flashing between a laptop and a desktop as your pc...I would highly recommend a charged laptop since you will protect yourself from power outages (especially in the critical step of flashing HardSPL). Other than that, its pretty simple and relatively enjoyable to customize your device to your own liking.
]first of i wanna thank all thoes who post here to assist niggas like me who far behind when it come to tecnology.i reviewed many forms and still dont understand how to do this. i had a behold and broke it puttin software on there so i dont wanna do it to my wing.i always considered myself an intelligent individual but when i started learning about this i felt dumb as homer(the simpsons).i need help. i will donate to whoever can put this in slow terms and help me step by step.i would like to install touch and 6.1 in not 6.5..i still dont know what im talkin about but ive seen the youtube videos an been fasinated with gettin them ever since.please assist me i will greatly appreaicate it u will .i just got my wing monday so i dont know if its even capiable of this upgrade but let me know..
A few notes:
1. This particular sub forum is for developing ROMs. There are two other subforums dedicated to "how-to's."
2. The videos in youtube are old, so you're probably looking at an older ROM, one of Ttra's OpenTouch ROMs, probably.
3. You need to research, learn and understand what SPL and IPL are. Then learn what HardSPL is. Then learn how to flash the Herald HardSPL into your phone assuming that your phone meets the requirements.
4. Follow my walkthrough that I made a long time ago to flash.
thanks

I've wrote a few guides. Do a search for "how to" and ivanmmj or "how to flash herald"
As far as the newest ROM, there are currently very few updated ROMs. JustStable (by me) is build 5.2.21042 and there is also a ROM based on 5.2.21040 right below this thread.
Been trying to get used to flashing from SD card but can't seem to find a Stock ROM that is suitable. They all seem to come as exe files. I found a good list of reconstructed 6.0 ROMs but can't find any 6.1 ones.
Does this mean everyone flashes to Stock via USB first? Or am I missing something ?
I would like to know this too!
I pulled the nbh from the exe on at&ts website but when I tried flashing from my sd card it only changed my spl and radio back to stock but not the rom.
try to unrar .exe file with winrar

Thanks for those . Any particular difference between the two versions? Is the Cingular one onlt for AT&T maybe? I have a UK Orange Tytnii.
Just thought maybe I shouldn't be keeping recommended radio when I reflash ROM? Is it best to reflash original radio first too or doesn't it make any difference?

No I'm not. Maybe I am going blind but all I see is your link to the AT&T stripped rom but I'm looking for HTC - as I said I've got a UK Orange TytnII which from what I've read says it should be flashed with HTC stock. How dare you jump in here with that attack. I really object to this. Where have I been impolite? Have you read my OP?
For the record I not only read the instructions. I devour them! Then I learnt them parrot fashion before I began. I have been a lurker round here for years but only started flashing last week. And for the last several weeks I have been trawling through literally thousands of posts to be sure of getting it right.
Now please show me on those instruction pages where it tells you how you can find a stock HTC ROM without radio that can be flashed from an SD card!
ai6908 kindly referred me to his page where there is only a link to a stripped AT&T stock rom and to TCP's page where there is no mention either. I was also asking if it was necessary to reflash the same radio every time as none of the instructions mention if you have the radio you need already. Still not had an answer on this so maybe it's just a stupid question - just wish I knew the answer lol.
Thankfully more helpful souls than you have provided me with the file I need. Thanks again F1ip and Pisca.
Some of you people on here can be arrogant so and so's. I belong to many forums and have never come across anything like it. Look at all the space you wasted flaming me and now me having to defend myself! No wonder the kids on here post the way they do if this is the example they get set by senior members. I would wager well over half the posts on this forum are pointless flaming. And just ask yourself how many questions are really new and have not already been answered by someone somewhere here. And look how much space would have been saved if you hadn't butted in here on your high horse without reading my question properly .
Rant over.

Stock ROM is the same, it doesnt matter much for it being HTC or AT&T. Base ROM is the same on both of them.
Actually in my opinion, you dont even need to flash to stock ROM. I never flash stock ROM when I flash, and I flash about 10 times a day sometimes.
Sometimes occational hard reset might help. So in my opinion, just flash to any ROM, and do a hard reset after flash and when it prompts for screen alignment. That should solve all your flash issues.

Interesting, thanks. Certainly would save time not having to go through the whole rigmarole every time. That's one of the main reasons I was asking about the cut-down roms. As least I wouldn't have to keep doing the radio as well. Now whether with my lack of experience I should be going against what the 6.5 chefs seem to all be advising ....... .
On the other hand I may never flash again since TCP's latest seems to tick all my boxes. But having summoned up the courage to get going in the first place and it opens up a whole new lease of life for your phone, you kinda get a bit hooked. So maybe when I find one where MotoHome runs fast and smooth on my old Kaiser ........

Apologies accepted . As you might be abe able to tell, the flaming that goes on verywhere around here really gets to me and you certainly hit a nerve. I sometimes wonder if I've wandered onto some Fight Club site by mistake lol .
Yes I do know the exe files can be uncompressed but the radio is still in the nbh file - and one guy who tried using the nbz file on its own said it flashed the radio part ok but not the rom itself .
What I will do is delve a little more into what makes up the unzipped nbh file. Might be a good way to start getting into this kitchen stuff .
