Entering password with one hand - General Topics

Hi, my company uses GoodLink for corporate e-mail, and they require I enter a password whenever my device is unused for 30 minutes. The password has to be 6 digits with alpha and numeric. Since my Hermes doesn't have keys, it's very dangerous to try to do this while driving. Can you give me some suggestions for making this easier (without hacking the password out completely)?
I'm looking into: SIP that allows me to create a custom keypad with just a few keys (letters and numbers) or SIP that will play macros.
Please give me your suggestions! Thanks.

You could use MortScript. Write a script that opens the required program & then inputs the required password ect & map this script to a shortcut or a button.
Plenty of info on MortScript if you do a search, we have a script collection in the Development forum.
I think PQz (PQz key code sender, PQzII keyboard helper) might be another option. Have not used them myself so not sure what they are capable of.

Want to populate WM5 power-on password directly in registry

Hi.
I want to populate the power-on password by setting it with a vendor tool that modifies registry settings. We modify approx. 20 settings on the device before deploying to end users and while I can force the setting that requires a password, I cannot populate the password itself. We currently set it by hand to 1111 and I assume I would have to create a hash, but I cannot determine where the password is stored. The tools I have are quite limited so I'm assuming this will be beyond what they can do.
FWIW: The device is the Cingular 8125.
Thank you for any assistance! Lots of good info in these forums.
Worst case you could make use a macro writer like Mortscript to automate the manual process. Or program a specialist app yourself to account for errors and unexpected problems. Spoofing keypresses etc isn't too difficult.

Question for WiMo Standard developers -- Intercepting keystrokes

This question is for WiMo Standard developers. I am a Windows .NET developer willing to learn more of this platform if you guys think this is doable and relatively simple.
Do you think it's possible and would you say it's relatively easy to implement a "dormant" application (in the Windows desktop world, this would be a service or any other type of TSR application) that intercepts keystrokes (interrupts?) and sends to the OS another keystroke defined in some sort of mapping configuration?
What I'd like to have (or be able to build) is an application that will intercept a keystroke like Fn+A while typing text and type á (or Á, depending on whether I'm writing in lower or uppercases). If I don't release Fn, but press A again within a second or so, then replace that previous letter by à (or À) and then by â (or Â), etc. Just toggle through all the foreign characters that resemble the letter A (configurable through a GUI or even a configuration file) until the Fn key (or Ctrl, etc., depending on the device) is released. Most QWERTY WiMo phones do this, but not all and the Samsung BlackJack II (i617) is an example. That is really my biggest complain with this phone and I'd love to overcome it.
Keep in mind that, although this may seem like an easy task at first, there are many things to take into consideration. For example:
- The application should only work when the device is accepting text input, not when it's in the home screen, a menu, etc.
- The application should be able to handle more than one mapping per key combination.
- The application should be able to delete the previously written character if Fn was not released and the second key was pressed again and a new mapping was found (á, backspace, à, backspace, â, release Fn, done!).
- The application should be able to determine whether the next letter was supposed to be lower or uppercase and return the correct character.
- The application should become friendly with T9 if enabled (or disable itself if T9 is enabled; I personally wouldn't care, since I always disable T9).
TIA for your feedback!

[RESOLVED] Custom Shell Keys Application

Wondering if there is a Windows Mobile developer out there that can spare some time to help me out to create a SHELLKEYAPP application. The application would read a few values from a sub-key beneath:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys\<KEYNAME>]
@="\Windows\\Start Menu\\Help.lnk" ... aka (Default)
Flags=dword:00000000
<KEYNAME> is typically a sub-key that corresponds to a button on the device. Each sub-key entries appears as an entry in the Buttons applet found in Settings. A custom range (ex: 40C7 - 40DF) could be predefined and a <KEYNAME> outside the range could be ignored.
The application would be initiated (launched) using the a .LNK file (ex: short_PTT.lnk, long_Send.lnk, etc.). In case I'm not being clear in my thoughts, I'm envisioning something like this:
short_PTT.lnk => \windows\shellkeyap.exe,40C7
long_Send.lnk => \windows\shellkeyap.exe,40C9
In the above examples, the application specified in the 40C7 key would be launched when the PTT button is pressed and the application specified in the 40C9 key when the Send button is held.
There are commercial applications available to do this but licensing issues arise when cooking these applications into ROM's. The goal is provide the XDA community with a small application that can be used in conjunction with the built-in .LNK files (ex: short_PTT, long_Send, etc.) and the Buttons applet in Settings.
I've added a few links below for anyone who is interesting in exercising their development skills. Please feel free to PM me if you are interested; I just don't have the level of coding skills required to put this together myself.
Advance thanks,

Q: re OperaMini input screens: any way to "delete all"?

I understand the issues with OperaMini being java based, and so cut & paste doesn't work (except for secret Menneisyys relay methods )
And one workaround is the SIP softkeyboards that have built in cut-copy-paste functions... for example, I use PCM Keyboard, and, only within input fields, which open up a text page, I can copy, paste, etc.
But I have not seen: "Clear" or "Select all & delete". For example, I am composing a reply-Gmail on OperaMini, and I want to get rid of most of the prior reply that is carried onto my compose screen. I see no way to "select all" and delete.
The best I can do is go to the end of the whole text block, and hit delete key and keep hitting it repeatedly until the space is cleared. Even that would be okay if the repeat-key delete function was super fast, but it's super slow.
Any ideas?
QuickMenu, which I use (and is built into Ivan's ROM i am using for my T-Mobile wing) has some special copy-paste-select all-select all & copy functions, but I cannot seem to use them in conjunction with an OperaMini input page.
On Esmertec Jbed you just press cancel, and it exits the text input page without making any changes.

BROWSER app keyboard incomplete...

Goodmorning everyone
..by being the owner of this device, and for which I am satisfied
I noticed (a bug?) upon opening the application
"Browser"
if you want to enter your own web account by typing
user and password, the keyboard provided by the app,
does not display the entire group of keys by concealing precisely
the most extreme ones (see key 1 or key zero)
and there is no way to
remedy this lack.
note well:
this condition is created only and exclusively during the input of user and password
in fact in other conditions, the keyboard is complete
I ask you:
"Is there a valid solution to remedy this gap?"
... maybe a different app or a more suitable setting ???
THANKS to all, however
