Here I made a new skin for HappyTappingKeyboard.
It is only for QVGA Portrait mode.
I dont create the Landscape mode because soon I will buy a new pda with sliding keyboard (Hi HTC Kaiser, where are you?).
However, I included the .psd (PhotoShop) just in case there is volunteer to port it to Landscape mode.
This new skin has bigger button (visually) and more tidy.
Feedbacks are welcome
Note: You are not allowed to use this skin if you are howardforums.com moderators. Please delete this skin from your PPC. More question? Ask Trevor1189 or Big Calhoun.
looks great......thanks
Cool, would be great if it could be bigger. (Fill up more of the screen)
Delude, the skin must be precisely matched with the original skin dimension. So, no, it is not possible to enlarge the keyboard size without changing the source code.
If you meant to enlarge the button size, well, I tried to maximize it as big as possible. As you can see in my skin, it has 2 pixels distance between buttons.
I can make it to 1 pixel, but it will not look nice ... too densed and cant see the drop shadow

I took the "dark" portion from the OP's skin and resized it for landscape view. Letters are a bit stretched, but it was quick and easy. Works on my HTC Touch. You should be able to to the same with Gimp.
Cool, thanks. Keep em coming...
Thanks for the photoshop template, I am going to mess around and see what I can come up with.
Here is a link to the quick one I made, I couldn't get it to attach.

for QVGA
do a 320x240 bmp for landscape
and a 240x320 for portrait
put them in the RES folder of your Slide2Unlock dir
name them wallpaperL.bmp (landscape)
and wallpaper.bmp (portrait)
I have 3 new ones now. . .
i have 3, but this is the only one i use... the other 2 are the earth one that Apple has been showing off lately, and another earthy-space like thing, i dont know why i like those so much...but this one i like the best
How about posting some of thesee for download.. portrait and landscape modes.
here are mine. I just made the landscape one, so I'm not sure how good it looks, I never use landscape myself. I am working on a dialer skin that matches the theme now as well.

landscape:

i'm not sure why they were converted to png, i use bmp myself. Not sure it matters to the program though, I just decided to use what it was using from the beginning.

Hello...just downloaded this version of CHome Weather and it looks amazing...great job. There's only one problem, probably related to the 240x320 cpr file because, like I already read in the excalibur forum, there's an issue in 240x320 where the background looks a little odd and doesn't fit the area like it supposed to. But again amazing job...keep it up
EDIT: I've just used a version of the 240 x 320 cpr file already used in another version of your plugin and it works great now
I was just now testing the other layouts and there are some issues:
- I realized that everytime i change the layout, it doesn't matter the cpr 240x320 file i did put there because when the layout is changed the cpr file is kind of replaced by the one corresponding to the sellected layout.
- In the HTC and Iphone layout, it shows always an icon with a cross below the icon of the current weather, instead of showing the icon corresponding to the weather.
- In regular layout, the gold and silver backgrounds don't work well in 320 x 240.
- In the regular layout, in the 1 and 3 layouts, I can't see the hi and low temperature.
Yeah, you'll have problems with the portrait layouts.
Is it possible to fix the problem with portrait?? That is the last thing, that keeps me from donating.
I am so happy with this program. I worked as Organic M's test subject to get this working. I can't say I notice the problem you guys are talking about in regards to portrait mode.
This is what I see:
have the author, removed the files from the location... I am unable to get those...

There are 2 links in the main post at the top of this thread.
The first one is the weather program
The second one is all the files that need to be installed to /windows on your device
Davis,
From your post, it looks like that screen is in ladscape mode. Portrait is taller than wider, yours looks wider than it is taller.
Thanks a lot.. I found the same at the post. I was just eager to get Weather update on my VOX...So got carried away...
Thanks

Well if you put it that way, you'll definitely NOT get me to fix the portrait layouts. How about.. "here's a small donation and small request... I would really appreciate it if you could work on the portrait layouts(which is a major PITA) so this works properly on my phone".
Well then I Only wanted to know if it is possible to do it. But I can live without it. I can look outside to see the weather. You know I made a lot of stuff for the Vox...but I never received ANY donation!!!
works beatifull. got no issues with any layout (i'm using plain black background). excellent job!
the only question i have is if it is possible to manually edit order of appearance on home screen somehow as i could do it in standard homescreens in _home.xml file?

This is definitely NOT what I wanted to happen here. I worked with Organic M to get this app to work with our phone models and he was nice enough to help us out.
This is far from the thanks that he deserves, since the app is designed for an entirely different model.
Why so serious? can't we all just... get along?

???
As I said I only wanted to know if it is posible nothing more. And I just wanted to clarify that people here are not thankful! I really do apreciate his work. And the work of all the other coders and cookers! I hope you understand my point!
Does this plugin use necessarily the whole width of the screen, or is it possible to customize its size or layout (present conditions, 2-days forecasts, 5-days forecasts...)?
At present I'm using Fizz Weather with Orange plugin on my Wings, in order to show an analoug clock and weather forecasts next to it (see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=89987&d=1212446950); will it be possible to make the same thing with Chome Weather?
So... is anyone still interested in making this work better with the Vox ? Maybe ask some of your ROM cookers to look at the policies in the registry and ask them remove the restricts that don't allow cab files to copy files to the \windows directory ? Then I wouldn't have to make two separate .cab files when I released a new version That, and if anybody wants to help test the portrait layouts, we can make this happen.
Yes it would be great to see the weather plugin fully working on the Vox...that thing about the restrictions I never understood that because after checking myself the registry many times, I saw that the restrictions were disabled and the thing about installing files in the windows folder still remains a problem...
Hi, I tried searching but didn't find an answer.
All 6.5.x roms have those stupid big buttons on bottom bar, it just doesn't look nice on HD2 and makes no sense since the screen is high res enough for the smaller text only bar.
I didn't see a way to remove then and return to 6.5 style, is it impossible?
The answer is "return to 6.5"
lol, yea was expecting that answer, oh well.

What made you switch to 6.5.x? The entire point of 6.5.x is the bottom bar and those buttons. Those of us who wanted our device to be more finger friendly and logical rejoiced for the change. Reaching my thumb from the bottom of the screen, where it sits, to the top to push some tiny buttons I made no sense (probably why no other phone OS does that...).
Anyhow, yeah, you should just go back to 6.5 as you wont lose anything but the bottom bar.

They do look ugly, but are very finger friendly.
You can change the buttons with a theme.
Here's a theme that shows only text instead of buttons :

I actually disagree, I think they improve the look of the home screen a lot, especially in a decent cooked rom like Xannytech's Evolution where they have been nicely skinned.
Anyway, regarding the OP and the original question, return to 6.5 if you don't like them as said. 6.5.x was designed to be more finger friendly, and not just on the home screen.
Ugly buttons
From a design point of view they make no sense - they fight visually with the row of sense icons just above them (where the plain text buttons were clear and well proportioned). Unfortunately that's the difference between what Apple does and the mess that comes out of Microsoft much of the time. HTC had managed to produce a very attractive and usable front end for the HD2 (appropriate to its screen size)... the balance is now all wrong though.

Still an opinion. I think the previous design (6.1 mainly and 6.5 also) was the stupidest thing to ever come out for a touchscreen mobile OS. I think it flows way better and looks way better than before. Makes no sense to have to reach to the top for some buttons and to the bottom for others. And that's my opinion. Obviously mine won, because that's what we have now ;-)

Again, it's something that easily can be changed with a theme. And of course HTC will provide an elegant remake in the HTC black theme for this.

nah, looks no different to what we have now. i'd like a colour scheme something like this.......
is it even possable..?
i take it thats a no then.....
it has to be possible, try finding where the keyboards files are located or maybe there is a registry key for it ...
after you find where the files are at you can start playing around with them...
please let us know if you find out anything...
if what your looking for is to have the letters in white and the rest of the keyboard in red then yes it is possible.
I could do that for you if your willing to to pull about stock 30 files off your phone.
I just finished a keyboard skin for my touch pro 2 and it has a slightly different layout then the hd2.
That being said I need the stock files from an hd2 to be able to make a skin for one as it is.
I can make your skins in return for the files I need

He knows what he is doing graphically, I will say that
He might be able to make the skins for sure, but he cant pack it into a cab or change the color of the text. He has all his files in a zip
Hes had requests already for a cab and for different letter colors and he said he doesnt know how.
He also has alot of comments on there regaurding the SIPBitmaps.dll file not working properly. So I dont think he knows how to resolve that.
I dont blame him hough, It took me hell to fgure it out the first time around.
im using a windows 7 style swype keyboard.
elegancia comes with a skinned "typestyle" keyboard.
sorry guys.
as far as swype goes theres a swype folder in the windows folder that you can play with the keyboard graphics and replace.

Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
Dear all,
Thanks for all the useful tips over the past few years, I've finally done something worth giving back to the community.
I noticed the HD2 and diamond skins but there wasn't a skin available the correct resolution for my QVGA Touch2... So I decided to make one using the existing skins as examples. The process was pretty straightforward and took me about an hour playing around to get it right.
I know that there will be some issues so let me tell you what I already know before you come back to me to tell me.
Anti-aliasing is a bit rough around the edges, it looks best on white backgrounds. At any zoom level other than 100% it does not go transparent and you have a white edge (which looks a bit ugly). According to other similar threads this is due to a bug with MM not the skin itself.
Also if you switch the skin into landscape it goes wrong. I am hoping that somebody may have some ideas as to how to get MM to rotate the skin, or be able to set a landscape skin up. I could not find any examples of this.
Also I don't think the start button works, although the button is mapped out.
Enjoy, let me know if you have any ideas about rotating it. I don't have much time to adjust but thought other people may well want the same as I did, so here you are. Feel free to improve on it.
Mr Gringo

That is the point! But there was not a skin for My Mobile which makes it look like the Touch2 until now. Those screen shots are actually displaying my phones screen, not an emulator or static screenshot.
Have a look at this site: fuzemobility.com/mymobiler-skins-for-htc-hd2-tp2-and-more/ and you should catch on.
Ok, thought that the screen was "automatically" displayed by mymobiler.....
And since I use direct mobile device connection, never had the need for mymobiler .....
Will give it a try.....thanks for clarification!
