Are you i=using a kitchen? If so you need to dig out the default on that should be in sys/os i think!!! Replace the 2 files in there and when you flash you should have it as the default!

i am using ingenetics kitchen, yep i know but there is no Windows Default.tsk in SYS/ROM

look for default_stwater*.bmp . Thats your background for the default theme. You then have to update all the registry entries for this, and that will be in a .rgu someplace. Go pull apart a .tsk file (any program that can pull apart a .cab can do a .tsk (since its really a cab)) and look at the settings there.

ok will try this, thx

i have same problem
well, i also ever got the same problem
Sometimes, HTCHomeSetting.xml is not made to be put on windows folder but on Manilla gfx folder. And that used to be my problem
try to reinstal manilla2D, and use M2DC to backup and restore your default skin, i hope it's work
Your HTCHomeSetting.xml file is messed up.
Here is the stock XML file. Turn off M2D (untick TouchFLO in your today settings), drop this xml file in your windows folder and try reloading M2d.
I always keep the stock XML for instances like this. Even sometimes the restore doesn't fix itm2d issues.
Need Help setting up theme
I have tryed and tryed to figure out how to apply the theme ive downloaded and no luck. after downloading the theme it try to place the file into the windows folder on my phone and it will not go. I keep getting a error message that says the stuff is running, or can not copy it cuz its protected. or there isn;t enuff memory, witch i know thats not the case. I made sure that the touch flow is off in my today screen before i did it. i am kinda a noob at least when it come to the themes. so anything from someone would be nice. Manilla 2D is the theme and icons the whole bit that i want to get working. Please someone help b 4 i go insain. or point me in the right direction so i can find sum answers. Thanks
What kinda device are you installing this on?
How are you using to transfer the files? Activesync? WMDC? Total Commander?
Are you manually applying the theme or using M2D Customizer?

its a tmobile wing/ htc herald I put the files on my sd card throu activesync and then tryed to copy them to the windows folder on my phone memory. Not sure on how to do this at all I have figured out alot of other stuff just not the theme stuff
You shouldn't have to drop the XML on your SD card. Just browse for the windows folder on your device and drop it in there right away. If it doesn't let you drop it in the Win folder, then I would drop it on my SD card and use software called ''Total Commander''. TM is pretty much a file explorer but will let you change system files that would normally error.
Being I dont know all your circumstances, this is what I would do and how I have it setup on my phone. Works flawless as well. I can change themes in seconds.
If that XML file didn't cure your problems then I'm assuming you have issues elsewhere as well.
First I would remove M2D and reinstall it. Once you have that working again, download and install Manilla 2D Customizer...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427392
Create a new folder on your storage card and name it ''M2d Themes''. M2D customizer works with a file extension of ''.mtdct'' Some skinners will create there theme's file with this extension for you. It is nothing more then a zip file with the extension renamed.
If the theme's files your trying to install is compressed into zip format, just rename the file from ''.zip'' to ''.m2dct''. Drop the file into your new ''M2D Themes'' folder on your storage card, open up M2D Customizer and browse for the themes ''m2dct'' file you wish to install. Click ''Apply Theme'' and it does all the work for you.
I must have 30 themes in my M2D Themes folder and as I feel the need for a change, I'll load M2D Customizer and switch themes. It's a piece of cake!
Hope this helps.
My icons don't update correctly when I apply a new theme using M2DC...Someone mentioned that there are v1 and v2 themes but I can't for goodness sake distinguish between them. Apparently some hacked versions of M2D will only correctly use v2 themes...Any ideas/suggestions? I have searched all over but can't seem to find a solution other than overwriting the HTCHome...xml file...

New to rom coocking .. Have some issues!

Hey there!
Iam relatively new to this world so i have some questions.. Iam coocking a rom for my blackstone based on the stock rom .. But i have some errors..
1. I need to replace the default netcf with the newest one (3.5) .. Iam not sure if it has something to do with the package i got hold of but if i just replace the package from sys with my one, netcf won't work on the phone.. Software that needs it gives me an error if i try to open it.. What have i done wrong?
2. I have made a OEM package containing some few regtweaks.. Some of those reg tweaks simply doesn't work! If i check the registry afterwards i have flashed the rom, they just haven't been created, while some of the reg tweaks from the same oem package has.. Iam talking specifically about these:
Code:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\EnlargeMenu]
"ManilaCustomHLUp"=dword:66
"ManilaCustomHLDown"=dword:CC
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\TaskManager]
"ManilaCustomHLUp"=dword:66
"ManilaCustomHLDown"=dword:CC
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies]
"0000101a"=dword:00000001
The file here is saved as Unicode .. The last reg tweak works but the others doesn't .. I have no idea why.. They simply doesn't exist if i check afterwards i flashed the rom .. Any ideas?
3. I wanted to replace the default start menu icon.. So i went for "SYS\Base_DPI_192\shellres.192.dll" opened the DLL with reshack and went for "Bitmap -> 292" And replaced the icon with a new one.. I then saved the file and used msigner to sign the file.. But this won't work either.. What am i doing wrong?
Hmm seems like i have to post this in some other forum ?
In theory, you should be able to swap the two netCF packages, and everything should work as intended. Where are you getting you 3.5 OEM pack from? Or are you making it yourself?
What may work better for regtweaks is to make a provxml file (a plain text file with *.provxml file extension) and create a new OEM pack with that in, and use BuildDSM to add the *.provxml to make sure it gets inserted when the ROM is flashed.
RGU->ProvXML converter
BuildDSM
Hope that helps!

Actually i have allready fixed the two first problems.. for the first problem i took some netcf 3.5 oem and swapped some files from a pocket pc netcf 3.5 package i found @ microsoft which seems to be working.. don't know why the oem package i was trying to use didn't work though.. For the second problem i did as you told me which is working.. Thanks!
However i still have problems getting my custom start menu icon to work .. Have you tried cooking custom icons in a rom before ?
What didn't work about the custom icon? Did it not show up, or did the ROM not boot?
If it's the first, then there may be other icons in other files that affect it.
If it's the latter, it may be the image size, or something to do with the signing.

Editing M2D when its built into a ROM?

I have a Elfin which is running the "Touch of HD" ROM
This has M2D built into it, and as a result, all files it uses are "system files" and cannot be edited.
This means the M2D editor cannot change the xml or anything else it does.
Is there any way of making these files accessable?
When using the editor, it ends up freezing and I have to softreset my device.
It would be nice to change the tabs around a bit, and update it to the latest version, but I just cant.
please dont suggest installing M2D as a seperate install and using it that way, as its too big to do that, and I cant install a newer version over the top, as it will try to overwrite system files, which just doesnt happen.
Thanks to anyone who can help

I am assuming that you have already tried this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=4273
I am using Ultimate X V2 with M2D built in and I have no problem editing Tab placement, screen fonts, themes and today screen with this.
erm.. sadly that link doesnt appear to be going anywhere
you need to probably disable m2d (if the files are in use by another program you wont be able to access them) ....if you have further problems try using total commander instead of the default windows file explorer.
Bump
I had given up on trying to edit m2d for a while
but im wanting to use it again.
Problem is, when i use M2DC, even when:
m2d was installed by me, instead of being in the ROM.
m2d was not enabled
Whenever i changed anything, and then tell it to save,
it would just show me the spinning wait icon and refuse
to do anything else until i reset it.
any ideas?

Theme

I am creating the theme for windows mobile 6.5 using the set of images i have. I am able to create the .cab file which contains all the registry settings ans images. When i install this file to device theme is getting changed but the background image is not getting updated. I am using images with xxxx_stwater_480_800.jpg and xxx_stwater_800_480.jpg with usestartimage key set to 1. But it is not changing the background wallpaper. Also if i renamed this .cab file to .tsk then theme doesnot get change at all. I dont know where i am missing. Plz provide some help..
Thanks in advance,
Sourabh
I think the name has to be stwater_480_800.jpg, not xxxx_stwater_480_800.jpg
At least that's what I use in my theme (and I see it's done in every other themes)

Manila Today Page (MTP) v0.4.0.0 for HD2

EDIT: Okay, I found the solution myself
Once again, for every HD2 User...MTP is working fine on the HD2, here´s how to set it up:
1. Install MTP
2. Turn off Sense (otherwise you won't be able to perform step 3).
2. install MTP Apple Icon.zip (if you want to have the apple icon instead of the silver windows one...i made a *.cab here)
3. Under \windows delete the file ManilaFull.xml.
4. With a registry editor, delete the key \HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\Configuration.
5. Activate Sense and reorder your tabs (by deleting xml and reg key you'll revert to default order).
Have fun, I´m using it with calendar+...good alternative

1. This folder seems to represent the arrangement of the slidericons in manila (default: 12 icons --> 12 subfolders in this folder)...i hope this answered your question.
2. Right! RegKey = Point 4, xml = Point 3

Would the deleted ManilaFull.xml be restored automatically should we uninstall MTP?
Basically, I don't want to screw up the original Manila after installing/uninstalling MTP. MTP is uninstallable, ya?
I havn´t screwed up anything after deinstalling MTP...just delete the manilafull and the configurationkey again and...finish!
Thanks for the clarification.

You might want to give credit to the person who ACTUALLY found the solution and you just read and copied what they explained.

i do understand your comment Nagrom Nniuq That´s why I´ve written "once again, for every HD2 user". I didn´t want to bask in s.o. glory here, as you can see, I have edited my first post, because once there was the question how to bring the MTP Icon into the manila settings to reconfigure the position of it. I deleted the question as soon as I found the solution paryav gave in the post you´ve linked above.
Sorry if this has lead to some bad thoughts. Just wanted to share the solution
PS: I only added the Cabfile for the apple-icon and corrected the manual within this point
