Anyone downloaded this and port to Universal?
I'm sorry to break it to you - but how does this help?
Unfortunately the Atom is quite a different device, so it is unlikely to help.
Although I am not a developers, I suspect the ROM bases that are designed for the Universal (ie the ones that are currently being used) will be of more benefit than a ROM base converted from this ROM
Then again, I would like to be proved wrong on the above point...

Hi,
I just wondered if anybody could confirm whether the impending WM6 release for the T-Mobile Dash will be of any use to the ROM Cookers here? I'm still using Helmi's v1.1, and think it's great, but could do with a bit more stability, and was hoping a "release" ROM might provide that.
The reason I ask is that it appears that the Dash's ROM has leaked already, but I haven't seen a Universal ROM that seems to be based around the new released core, as I would have expected, or have I missed something?
Cheers,
Steve.
Dash is A SP phone;
Uni is A PPC phone;
can't build uni rom based on dash core.
allway: as U said, and second thing(even if dash will be ppc) is more than possible that has different HW - thats the reason why U cannot use ie hermes roms for uni.
but u can use some parts of roms from different device usually bundled sw, mms, voice dials....

Fair enough. I thought the two platforms were being brought together, and realised that the difference in hardware may already be handled by the drivers etc that we already have.
Presumably there will be apps etc that may be of use, as phsnake said.
Cheers,
Steve.
some old but powerful device like HP IPAQ h4100 is based on HTC hardware and its rom can be decoded by dumprom.exe, however, people just keep telling that these old machines will not have custom rom. May I know why these devices can't have custom roms like others?
Sorry that I have absolute no idea on rom cooking but I really love my ipaq in terms of its hardware. (Even I have bought myself a HTC Elf earlier)
Thanks for your answers.
various reasons
1.
drivers the whole driver model was changed with wm5 and old devices which never had drivers written for them with this model dont work
2.
flash with wm5 storage was moved from memory to flash out of the box using memory for storage is not possible there are programs to make ramdisks but they have to be started up
and the device itself vil not start if there is no flash at all
3.
rom creating and porting require alot of time and access to the device the port is ment for
rom cookers in general dont seem to have huge piles of old devices around
and being that batteries for these devices have a lifespan too and batteries may even
but absolute result in devices too old in general are put to sleep
resulting in a pretty small owner base
Hi there,
I know and understand the reasons why M$ did not release a WM5 ROM for this old device although the hardware supports it. My question would be: Is it possible for someone to cook a WM5 or later ROM for it starting from a ROM designed for a similar iPaq? I really don't know much about cooking ROMs but I am willing to learn. I just want to know if it's worth it..
Thanks.
Microsoft does not release any device ROMs, hp does in this case.
WM5 required at least 64MB ROM and 64MB RAM, so h3900 series iPAQs are not compatible.
And it's not possible to a cook new ROM for it.
Hi there, I recently acquired a Moonse e7002 (not 7001) and so far, I'm pretty happy with it (it's not perfect but good value for money). However, I have some questions and couldn't find the answer for this device in particular. The problem is, I have a reasonable amount of experience with flashing WinMo but have completely no experience with android.
I read that android 2.2 (this device runs 2.1 update 1) is radically better than previous versions. Is it possible to flash 2.2 onto this device like it is similarly with a WinMo device? If so, where would I find these roms?
I read that there are a lot of clones out there and that all models with the same number (this one is a M701) are completely identical. As such, can I flash the firmware from those devices onto this one?
I found a FW370 package (I think that it is the latest) and my device runs (I think) FW331. What do these firmwares do exactly? Details seem to be non existent at best.
Hello,
I have HTC Touch pro that i got from my sister in Australia (3). The phone has:
os 5.2.21916
I am using this in Canada on Fido.
Now the question I have is:
- Is there any official upgrade i can do to this phone? WM 6, 6.1, 6.5??
- As you see I am using a Australian phone in Canada.. I dont really need data. I do use WiFi.. What would be a good ROM for the following criteria:
- FAST
- Bug Free
- Do not care as much for a lot of apps except MS office
- Will be installing Garmin XT
I am a total noob to this whole ROM thingi.. Please help...
no 6.5 official roms exist, official 6.1 and below exist. you can install garmin on any version. NATF (not a treo fan) used to make v. good roms, some versions include stripped down roms for max performance.
some people complain that the sense interface slows down that phone, so check and if you don't like it, you can disable it.
double post, plz delete.
Thanks for the reply..
So I guess the next question is how do I get the official 6.1 ROM (not a cooked one) for this phone.
I checked the HTC site but they don't have anything that I can find....I tried the HTC australia site and the last release is:2008-12-04
From the HTC www site I see there is: 2009-08-30
htc.com/www/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=140&act=sd&cat=2
Can someone confirm that i can put this on my phone which has OS5.1 currently?
Sorry for spammin.. but I guess my confusion is from the fact that..
After I installed the ENERGY 6.5 ROM, the Settings>about tells me that OS is 6.5
but when i do settings>Phone info>SW info: It says Os version is: 5.2.21916
So I guess the question is how do I updated my phone's base OS to 6.1
You should do a little more research before posting
I'm not trying to be rude, but you're going to run people down really quick with this line of questioning. Most of the answers to your questions could be answered by just reading more threads, maybe even a little wikipedia. I'll give you one hint: your phone does not have (nor did it ever have) Windows Mobile 5, and there is no such thing as WinMo 5.1 or 5.2. Unless your sister installed a new ROM, you've got Windows Mobile 6.1.
Now, go back and do some more research and decide for yourself: what ROM do you want to install? Is there a reason you don't want a cooked ROM? (is it because you believe that the "official" ROMs somehow are better?)
Good luck!
You can test what rom you like by flashing different ones rather than ask "what rom is the best?" I have no idea what your tastes are. It doesn't hurt to flash different roms as long as you back up your data
In my opinion, the custom roms blow away official roms in terms of performance and cosmetics. (All my opinion, you choose for yourself)
