List of Applications that works on S710 - HTC Vox

Let us all list down the list of application that works well with the HTC S710. Since my S710 crashed after installing some particular (I think it was BPP_SP_153) software. But after that it never booted completely only went upto the HTC booting screen. Had to change my set. I have just downloaded a ROM from this forum ..RUU_VOX will it work OK !! so incase you have a problem where your set hangs Will this ROM will solve the problem.

Add it to the Wiki if you really want it.

It would be faster and quicker to ask what apps DON'T work ....since WM6.0 is still in 5.0 shell ... (5.2 I believe) The WM5.0 are very compliant I think.

Here is what I've got so far:
Core player
ProfiMail
Neverland AlReader
Skype
Smart Monitor
Thunder WM5torage (turns SP in to a Card Reader)

Oh yeah,
No landscape mode in profi mail. It works, but you only see usuall mode on land scape.

I got the following:
Sprite BackUp
PocketX Photo Contacts pro 4
CeleTask
Orchid ShortCut
Facade 1.3
TomTom 5.2

Also follow my reviews. I don't necessarily cross-post my roundups / reviews also elaborating on the Smartphone version of a given title to the SP forums; therefore, you'll need to follow the General forum.

[Updated:7/7/07]XDA Mobile 6 Release 2a (Lite and Full Versions)

XDA Mobile 6 Release 2a
Taking You to the Limit
Release 3 is now available! See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=324632 for downloads and discussions on this latest version of XM6!
On 7/7/07 Release 2a replaced Release 2. See known issues for the slow program folder fix, or upgrade to Release 2a
XDA Mobile 6 Release 2a (XM6r2a for short) is the second version of the popular XM6 rom for the Wizard. This is mainly a release to fix some bugs, and update apps that were in the first version of XM6.
I'm also releasing a "Lite" (not Vanilla, or Clean, but "Less Filling") version of XM6. The Lite is the exact same build with Apps removed (but some "essential tools" are left in, thus its not Vanilla or Clean, but Lite).
XM6 is built on the OS 5.2.318 Build 15342.4.0.01 rom that was provided to us by InGeNeTiCs from Howard Forums. One major difference between the original Release and Release 2 is that in this version the ROM, SYS, and OEM folders originated from the Ingenetics Kitchen work by mattk_r (where the original release of XM6 was a mismash of Faria ROM kitchen OEM packages, and ones I built). Organization of this rom is much better (if you want to dump it)
Please remember that this ROM is a product of what _I_ wanted with many inputs from users of the Original XM6 and the Crossbow Reloaded series, so no complaints about why does this rom have this in it, or why didn't you put this in there. If you don't like how this rom is spiced, then go grab a ROM, put it in one of the many Kitchens now out, and make your own version. I am open to ideas on how to improve the rom so constructive criticism is appreciated (to a point ).
Please Note: this ROM was NOT intended to push the limits on speed optimization or memory optimization. It was made to be functional, stable, and something that I myself wanted and will use. I've found it to perform at a better than acceptable level for myself, and so far Battery life seems very good for me and those beta testing this. If you have Battery Drain issues, make sure you flashed back to an official rom before you upgraded to this one, as that should correct extended rom corruption that has been shown to cause battery draining. BatteryStatus is NOT included in this ROM due to how fast changes come out with this application, and not everyone likes it or uses it. If you want to overclock or use other features of BatteryStatus, you are welcome to download and install the latest version of BatteryStatus yourself.
Base ROM Information
The base rom was an "Official" Wizard WM6 ROM that was part of the development cycle of WM6 inside of Microsoft (Dogfood as they call it). The base rom was not a port of another device rom with drivers and stuff pieced and parted onto this one, but this was an actual Wizard WM6.
Windows Mobile 6, OS 5.2.318 Build 15342.4.0.01
ROM Version: 10.1.0.811 WWE
ROM Date: 08/11/06
Protocol: 4.1.13.09
There is no Radio, IPL, SPL or Extended ROM.
What's In XDA Mobile 6 Release 2a?
Both versions have the following
Office 2007
New 8 Button "Touch" Style CommManager (yeah only 8 buttons. If you want more then install one of the many 10 or more button ones )
VoIP (See next post for instructions to set this up)
SQLCE
HTC X-Button v1.0
Notepad editor
Pocket RAR (ROM already has associations with .rar and .zip setup)
SIP Config 2.0.1
SynchroTime
Total Commander Beta 2.5
PIM Backup to 2.4 (updated in 2a)
Windows Live Search searches via Google
WM5torage 1.75
SIM Manager 6.13
psShutXP was Removed in 2a due to it not working properly and causing problems with Programs folder
dotFred TaskManager (with registry editor link setup and associations built in for .reg files)
Regional Settings default to English (United States) and use a slash for the date seperator (M/dd/yyyy)
Menu sounds work by default
Pressing the "End Call" button does not disconnect GPRS but minimized the active application. Pressing and holding the "End Call" button for about 5 seconds will do a GPRS Disconnect
Internet access over ActiveSync (USB) connection works (You must apply a registry fix on your PC first. See the next post for the fix)
The Full Release also contains the following
mUn designed onscreen Keyboard skin (grey/green one)
Mobile Justice (a security app that will send an SMS if an unauthorized SIM is placed in your phone)
TodayAgenda
StartClean
Pocket Screen Capture
HTC Audio Manager
CicleBT (Toggle BlueTooth on and off)
1-Calc Lite
WiFiFoFum 2.2.12
MoDaCo NoData (so you can turn off data sources)
Smartskey 0.56 (DPAD is set to 0 in the .ini so the up and down scrolling works in the Phone dialer as expected in WM6)
SMSDRFix
DotFred's SoftKeyAppletEx
Requirements
You MUST have an IPL and SPL at 2.xx or higher (BOTH not just one or the other).
You MUST be running ActiveSync 4.5 on Windows XP (Vista comes with the correct sync utility, although there have been issues reported about Vista and sync'ing with PPC's so be aware of that).
Before you attempt to upgrade to this ROM, Please follow this thread to learn how to flash roms, CID unlock your phone, and how to fix issues you may run into! It is also recommended that you flash your phone with a Windows XP computer and not Vista. It will work with Vista, but if you run into problems Vista can't talk to a phone in Bootloader mode!
Recomendations
I HIGHLY Recommend that you flash back to an official rom before upgrading to this (or any) custom rom so you have a clean base (and correct any Extended ROM corruption you might have). G4 users would flash back to their provider's latest official release. G3 users can use T-Mobile 2.26 for a good base.
If you use BatteryStatus (its NOT included in the rom!) to overclock, I don't recommend overclocking above 260Mhz, and the CPUscaler settings in BatteryStatus should not be set to a min lower than 143MHz (or your device may not wake back up after going to sleep).
Radio Issues UPDATE: There appears to be a possible fix for the Radio issue on Cingular. Attached is a cab you can run to implement the change. I've successfully run Cingular 2.25 radio on my phone for many days now with no missed calls or SMS messages. Others have had success with 2.61 and 2.69 radios after doing this fix. You can follow this thread (starting around post 9) on this. A newer cab is now posted and info on it can be found around post 214.
Credits
I've moved the credits to the 6th post of this thread as this post has become too big.
Known Issues
The base rom has a bug / feature where if GPRS is active, unanswered calls may not show up as a missed call and may not give notification of the unanswered call. If this happens, the unanswered call shows up in the history as an answered call with a duration of 1 or 2 seconds.
In XM6r2 some people were having problems when they go to Start > Programs and the folder was taking a long time to paint or the phone would hang. To resolve this, remove the Shutdown.lnk and Display Switch.lnk located in \Windows\Start Menu\Programs or upgrade to XM6r2a
Every WM6 rom I've tried has an issue where if you use the "Press and Hold" of the CommManager button to switch to and from Vibrate mode, that the ringtone may not play when not in vibrate mode. To work around this go to Settings > Phone and play your ringtone and your ringing will work again.

How to not have a 24hour Clock (or how to show AM/PM)
This works on all WM6 roms
Go to Start > Settings > System > Regional Settings
Make sure you have the correct Region selected
Click on the Time tab
Click on the drop down box for Time Style
Notice the little up and down arrows? This is a scrolling region in this dropdown. Click the up arrow a couple of times and you'll find h:mm:ss tt
Thats it. Microsoft is amazing at having a 2 line scrolling region on this dropdown. You'd think they would have had at least 3 or 4 lines show up for chosing (and it would be more obvious that its a scrolling region then too).
GPRS / MMS Setups
This rom uses the new Arcsoft 4.0 software which has SMS and MMS merged together. Overall I personally like this better in my using it, so I put it into this rom. To setup your MMS settings though is a little different / odd. Here's what you do:
Go to Messaging
Menu > New > MMS
Select whichever MMS template
Menu > Options > MMS Options
Now you are in the familiar MMS settings page. You can choose the Servers tab to setup your MMS server.
Here is a list of automated and manual ways of setting up GPRS and MMS for various cell providers and regions:
Attached to this post is the cab file for Cingular users to setup GPRS and MMS.
For T-Mobile US users, here's a link to a post by FZZF that has info for your setup of GPRS and MMS
Here's another link with cab files for T-Mobile US users:

Connecting XM6r2a to the Internet via ActiveSync 4.5 on Windows XP
For those having issues connecting to the internet via Active Sync, cut and paste this code onto your PC in a file called net_over_activesync.reg and run it (on your PC not your phone)
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services]
"AllowLSP"=dword:00000000
Splash Screens and Splash Only RUU for G4
For G4 users, I've attached a zip file with the Splash Screens of this rom (since you don't get them when you use the shell tool). As I understand it, this is completely safe for a G4 as its nothing but splash screens (no OS, IPL, SPL, Extended ROM, etc, just splash and htc logo screens). I've also placed the .bmp files that make up the splash screen in the zip file so you can see them directly before flashing this. Before anyone asks, yes, the htc logo one is grainy. I had to do that due to size limitations of the file. I tried for a couple of hours to get a nicer version to work but it wouldn't display correctly (seems to have to be pretty low res / non-complex)
If you have problems flashing the above RUU on a G4, then extract this http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=29158&d=1152698784 and pull the nk.nbf file out of the above Splash Screen file and put it into the directory of this one and run this RUU. You can use the same method for flashing the Radio Only ROM (pull the nk.nbf file out of the radio only rom and put it into the directory of this RUU and run it). Thanks anichillus for that link! You can also check this thread for another RUU that is in English and seems to work for most G4 users. Thanks Vippie!
Weather Panel Setup
See my post in the Wizard forum on how I setup WeatherPanel. It will give you a fixed dll with correct moon phases through 2008, new/better Moon phase icons, and a cool theme called Chameleon-240 QVGA. I dumped SBSH Pocket Weather after seeing this setup
Hermes Black Cabs that may be of Interest
Transcriber can be added back into XM6r2a by using the Black 3 Add-on CABs file. There may be others in it that may be of interest also for some. Included in this file is Cyberon VoiceCommander, Cyberon Voice Dial, VIjay555 utils, and a Slingbox patch (none of these I've tested) and Adobe Reader LE.
10 Button Black CommManager
Some seem to think 10 buttons are better than 8, and some just like the look of the 10 button CommManager over the 8 button one in this rom. So attached to this post is a zip file with the 10 Button Black CommManager. You shouldn't have to use the cert cab file, just run the CommManager one.
Turning off Word Auto Completion
Some people do not like how Windows Mobile tries to suggest words that you may be typing. If you are one of those people, jacob-mda wrote up a post on how to turn it off. Check out This Thread.
Auto Completion for Spanish
User peu found the file to change the auto completion of words to Spanish. You can check his post here for details and a link.
New DialPad to match the CommManager
The EquinoXe was successful at pulling out the dial pad from the HTC Touch and it matches up with the CommManager in XM6 very nicely (see pic attached below). I've attached the CAB to this thread, so if you'd like to use this dialpad, just download and install. Cool! WARNING: If you install this, you can't just uninstall it. It requires a HARD RESET or you have to reflash this rom to go back to the original dialpad that was included in WM6r2! Some love this DialPad and the features of it, and others don't like it.
BatteryStatus (for Overclocking, CPUScalar, and much much more)
BatteryStatus is a very popular utility around here and for good reasons. Currently its in a beta phase and the author is releasing new versions of the beta constantly so I decided not to put it in the rom and let people install whatever build of it they want. Also, some versions of BatteryStatus have been known to cause excessive battery drain, so be aware of that too. You can find it in the Official BatteryStatus thread and if you do use it, feel free to give feedback on it in that thread as they are always looking for ways to improve it.
NOTE: If you do use overclocking, I recommend you use the OMAP Apps tab to setup Camera to be at 195Mhz as it can mess up the display if you are overclocked and doing the camera.

Info on Included Apps
MobileJustice v0.8
MobileJustice is an Anti-theft app that you can configure on your phone. Just go to Start > Programs > Accessories and click on the MJConfig icon (first time in you will get a message that there isn't a config file, just click ok and it will be created). To us this, check the Enabled box, then click Add on the Allowed line. You can then setup your SIM card as an authorized one, and add other SIM cards IMSI numbers if you use more than one. Next click on Add next to Report to: and setup an SMS number (wife, friend, colleague) where you want the text message to go to if an unauthorized SIM is put into your phone. You can add multiple SMS numbers if you want. At this point, your phone will now be setup so that if an unauthorized sim is put in it, then it will send an SMS (with no record of it being sent) to your Report To list on the next boot (you can test this by not setting up (or removing) the Allowed and then doing a soft reset).
For more advanced, you can turn on the Disp MsgBox at the top and then put in some text in the MsgBox text line. This will pop up a Message box on the screen of the phone after a boot, if an unknown sim is in the phone.
You can also enable RMon (bottom half of the screen), put in a pass phrase, and then turn on MsgBox (GPS and LocCall do not work on Wizards, and the other options haven't been implemented in this version). By doing this, you can now send an SMS to your phone in the following format:
+m passphrase message
Rmon will intercept the sms message (so it will not show up as a received message), and if the passphrase matches the one you put in the configuration, then it will pop up a message box on the phone with your message in it (so you can secretly send messages to the thief to possibly intimediate them (or whatever).
The project page for MobileJustice is located at: https://sourceforge.net/projects/mjustice/

Since most seem interested in memory, the Lite version gives you about 29meg of free Program memory. The Full Version just over 28meg of free Program memory (so not a lot of difference, but thats right after flash).

mfrazzz,
you should try and get hold of a link for the 1.6 UK version of Voice command, as I had tried the 1.5 on the XDA Mobile 6 and it didn't work. 1.6 works fine.
Darren
Congrats!
Congrats on the final release. Unfortunately I never got round to installing the beta as I just didn't have time. Really looking forward to trying the final cooked version though - this looks like a superb combination of features and apps.
I trust you managed to resolve the comm manager issue?

No problem on not being able to help with the Beta, seemed a number of people I invited couldn't participate, but we all have lives outside of XDA (hard to believe, but we do ).
Yes, the CommManager issue in XM6 is fixed in XM6r2. And then the CommManager issue I had with the Lite beta is also fixed in this released version.

If someone will upload the UK 1.6 someplace, I'll link to it in the second thread, but I've never seen a copy of the UK 1.6 version of VC.
And I'm MDT, so GMT -6... So its 1:35am here (and I'm heading to bed). But I made my goal of releasing this rom for the 4th of July. So my Fireworks for the Wizard community
Also screenshots have been uploaded to the first post, and the 2nd and 3rd posts have been updated with info...
Waiting for comments about the first splash screen... Finally did one that doesn't stink (IMO). I'm sure some won't care for it, but its fun for me (I'm a SciFi nut).

Do I need to Flash back to official Rom from XDA 6 to get XDA 6 R2 working well? Not a problem if I have the time.
Will see the test soon
I could not get ROMUpdateUtility.exe to work with my phone. I used Shelltool and had no problems!
Looks good.
i used T-Mobile 2.19.11 UK Radio with 8125 (G4)...
do I need setup mfrazzz Cingular WM6 Radio Fix.cab ???
It transpires that this ROM was released just in time for for dotfred to release PimBackup v2.3.

KKK that not fair!
ahh btw, mike i forgot to say, using shelltools to flash my device now take only 8-10 minutes to flash.
no more problem =]
Excellent job, mfrazzz. I have been running XM6 for a while now. I'll try XM62 and report back.
This is just great, for the first time in ages the flash completes in about 9 mins using shelltool. I personally had to change the 8 button touch comm manager for the same one again (sounds confusing) as the default one in this rom has cleartype enabled, and on some roms the same comm manager it's disabled, so i installed one again that has it disabled. Maybe there is an easier way to do it ?
I also had a few lockups while scrolling up and down in the programs section. So i removed the battery and it seems ok now.
Otherwise brill so far...
hmm, i had it lock up again in the programs section after trying shutdown, or display switch, one of those anyway. Also with the shutdown menu if you select shutdown it only turns off the display, so i don't think that works properly anyway. Finally if i turn off the phone it does'nt always start up correctly, it hangs half way through, so i have to reset it, then its ok again.
Maybe a few bugs, not sure ?

[22-Nov-2007] XDA Mobile 6 Release 4 - Happy Thanksgiving!

XDA Mobile 6 Release 4
Let's give thanks on Thanksgiving; Its a new XM6!
You can now cook your own version of this rom! Click Here!
XDA Mobile 6 Release 4 (XM6r4 for short) is the fourth version of the popular XM6 rom series for the Wizard. The base rom is the same, but with new features and fixes to a few bugs found in XM6r3.
XM6r4 is built on the OS 5.2.318 Build 15342.4.0.01 rom that was provided to us by InGeNeTiCs from Howard Forums. While this is not the "newest" release of WM6, it is the last known release that was built for the Wizard (ie: its not a port from another HTC Device). Various pieces of the base rom have been upgraded, so some of it is stuff ported from other phones so that it can have newer functionality. Overall, I feel this base is very stable and fast and makes a great base to cook on.
Please Note: this ROM was NOT intended to push the limits on speed optimization or memory optimization. It was made to be functional, stable, and something that I myself wanted and will use. I've found it to very quick and responsive (especially with Overclocking with BatteryStatus), and so far Battery life has been very good for me and those beta testing this. If you have a Battery Drain issue, make sure you flashed back to an official rom before you upgraded to this one, as that should correct extended rom corruption that has been shown to cause battery draining. BatteryStatus is NOT included in this ROM. If you want to overclock or use other features of BatteryStatus, you are welcome to download and install the latest version of BatteryStatus yourself. I personally use it, and have OMAP set to 247MHz with CPUscalar set from 143 to 247 and Boost set to 260Mhz.

ROM Version: 10.1.0.811 WWE

There is no Radio, IPL, SPL or Extended ROM included in this (so its G4 "safe").

In addition to the apps listed above, the following fixes and mods were made to improve the user experience on XM6r4

Pressing the "End Call" button does not disconnect GPRS but minimized the active application. Pressing and holding the "End Call" button for about 5 seconds will do a GPRS Disconnect

QuickMenu enabled for nice drop down and cascading start menu
Touch Scroll only is active so use your finger to scroll in most places
G4 users would flash back to their provider's latest official release or the Wizard Love ROM.
Newer Radio ROMs on WM6 have had issues in the past (especially for Cingular / AT&T users). T-Mobile 2.19 (UK or NL versions) seems to be the most stable, but you can now run newer radios with the attached cab. This cab also works for some other providers but not for all, so its up to you to test what works for your phone.

I've moved the credits to the 5th post of this thread as this post has become too big.
Known Issues
When entering a contact in the "To:" field it does not link to the outlook contacts, it instead shows suggested words. You can tap the word "to" and it will go to the contact list no problem. Also, when trying to select a file to send no file names or pictures are displayed just empty square boxes, you can tap the box and it will go to the next sub folder, if it is a folder. There are no thumbnails or files listed so it is impossible to navigate to select a picture or video. Click Here to download patch
After the initial flash, some have reported that QuickMenu pops open the start menu when you are supposed to tap the screen to start the phone setup. Just wait a second or two and it will close by itself.
The base rom has a bug / feature where if GPRS is active, unanswered calls may not show up as a missed call and may not give notification of the unanswered call. If this happens, the unanswered call shows up in the history as an answered call with a duration of 1 or 2 seconds.

Radio ROMs
Here are links to a few of the Radio ROMs that I've used with XM6r4. Remember that Radio's newer than the 2.19 radio may require the WM6 Fix CAB that is attached to the first post of this thread.

Cingular 2.25.11
2.61.11
2.69.11

First, here is The Ultimate Thread with people posting operator settings for about all providers! In the first post is a link to the thread where walshieau is creating an automated way of setting up all of these!
What follows is a list of automated and manual ways of setting up GPRS and MMS for various cell providers and regions that I've collected:
The cab file for Cingular users to setup GPRS and MMS - Click Here.
For T-Mobile US users, here's a link to a thread by Lurch with 3 cabs for the various plans. Famewolf tested the 3rd one and it worked for him.
For T-Mobile US users, here's a link to a post by FZZF that has info for your setup of GPRS and MMS by hand
Here's another link with cab files for T-Mobile US users:
MMS auto config t-mobile.cab (Thanks to marscandybars for posting this)
Here's the settings for the original (Pre-Cingular) AT&T Wireless (blue sim)

Connecting XM6r4 to the Internet via ActiveSync 4.5 on Windows XP
For those having issues connecting to the internet via Active Sync, cut and paste this code onto your PC in a file called net_over_activesync.reg and run it (on your PC not your phone)
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services]

Splash Screens and Splash Only RUU for G4
For G4 users, Click Here for the RUU with the Splash Screens of this rom (since you don't get them when you use the shell tool). As I understand it, this is completely safe for a G4 as its nothing but splash screens (no OS, IPL, SPL, Extended ROM, etc, just splash and htc logo screens). I've also placed the .bmp files that make up the splash screen in the zip file so you can see them directly before flashing this.
Transcriber can be added back into XM6r4 by using the Black 3 Add-on CABs file. There may be others in it that may be of interest also for some. Included in this file is Cyberon VoiceCommander, Cyberon Voice Dial, VIjay555 utils, and a Slingbox patch (none of these I've tested).
Turning off Word Auto Completion
Some people do not like how Windows Mobile tries to suggest words that you may be typing. If you are one of those people, jacob-mda wrote up a post on how to turn it off. Check out This Thread.

Skinning the Dialpad
You can find skins for this dialpad HERE. See image attached below for an example.
Skinning MortPlayer
MortPlayer is very skinnable. Check out the qVista example attached below. You can find qVista here: http://www.aximsite.com/boards/them...rting-qvga-vga-landscape-portrait-square.html
More skins can be found here: http://www.sto-helit.de/index.php?module=download&action=list&category=23
Or create your own skins by reading this: http://www.sto-helit.de/freeware/pocketpc/mortplayer/en/skinhelp.html

Included Apps Info
Info on Included Apps
FingerFriendlyFriends v1.0 Beta 2
For those wondering, PocketCM was replaced in XM6r4 for two reasons. First the author of PocketCM did not want it included in roms. Two, I like the FingerFriendlyFriends app (even though I hate the name )
Check out these images of it:
I would advise you to check out and participate in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=340227&highlight=fingerfriendlyfriends if you like FingerFriendlyFriends. The official website is http://www.jotto.no/fff/ and has info on using and making the most of FFF
For those that don't want to run FFF and want the standard Conctact manager back you can do the following:
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:MSCONTACTS
Change "String 1" value from "\Windows\PocketCM.exe" to :MSPOUTLOOK contacts.
Then if you want it back, you can change it back to \Windows\FingerFriendlyFriends.exe
Since FFF is in beta, if you need / want to upgrade, just drop the FingerFriendlyFriends.exe file in \Windows
SK tsync
Included in this rom is SK tsync, which will synchronize your phone to time servers. I've included in \Windows a special link called tsync silent.lnk . You can copy this link (with TotalCommander or use WinXplore) to your \Windows\Startup folder and it will allow your phone to sync its time after a reboot. Famewolf also wrote a Mortscript for easy install (since Mortscript is part of this rom). Click Here to download this script, then just place it on your phone and run it, and it will copy this shortcut to your Startup folder for you.

I would like to thank the following in help (directly and indirectly) with XDA Mobile 6:
Faria for providing the initial ROM Kitchen that got me cooking
anichillus for the fantastic Hyper Core ROM Kitchen which was exclusively used in the production of this ROM
Dr Puttingham for the guides, information he has provided to all of us
Molski for having a nice tutorial on various cooking tools and providing easy access to info at http://www.molski.biz
mattk_r and theloon for inspiration and pushing the envelope and for the fantastic set of OEM packages
Famewolf for constantly pointing me to new apps, new versions, and posts about features like BlueTooth DUN to add into the rom.
Those that took the time to help alpha and beta test XM6 Release 4 (Rudi, Peter, and Ben). We worked out a number of issues with a nice quick beta test (XM6r3 beta worked out most of the real bugs so this one was "easy" )!
Everyone that installed and gave feedback and support on the other XDA Mobile 6 threads
Everyone that I thanked in my other ROM releases!
I thought there were going to be door prizes...didn't we agree on door prizes? No mouse pad?
Great job once again mfrazzz on the rom!
^..^
congratulations..
This really is an excellent release Thank you, Mike, and happy Thanksgiving..
One remark though, for everyone who may see the QuickMenu popping up at the first boot after the flashing: You don't need to click anywhere to make QM disappear, it will hide itself after a few seconds and you can continue to the initial configuration of the Wizard.
Release 3 is one of the best roms, i was waiting for next version.
Thanks for this one, will flash it today.

Good job
Release 3 was one the most stable ROM for WIZARD, I have noticed so far.
Wish the same for release 4 too.
Thank you
Happy thanksgiving.
I'm curious, what happens to my apps installed on my storage memory? Will I have to reinstall everything? I'm uprading from Release 3.

If your apps require registry entries more than likely you will have to reinstall them..they may or may not keep your settings depending on whether the settings were kept in the file or in the registry. (usually the registry)...any documents or files stored on the card should be fine however.
Here is a mortscript which may be of use to people reinstalling...it's called Reload..I am not the original author..I just made a few changes.....these instructions are taken from the Readme.txt inside:
How to setup:
1)Extract Reload.zip to the root of your storage card.
2)Place cab files in the CabsAuto folder if you want to the cab to be automatically installed to the phone storage.
3)Place cab files in the CabsManual folder if you want to be able to choose where to install the cab.
4)Place file in the Backup.zip file that you want to be restored to root of phone.
ie. If you wanted example.jpg to be placed in the \Windows folder, place example.jpg in the Windows folder of the zip file.
5)Place file in the SDBackup.zip file that you want to be restored to Storage Card.
*Please note that the cabs files placed in the CabsAuto folder need to conform to only asking the user for the installation destination, then showing installation successful/unsuccessful. Otherwise you might encounter some problems. You should place cabs that don't conform in the CabsManual folder, or adjust these cabs with programs such as WinCE CAB Manager.
###############################################
How to use:
2)Execute Reload.mscr. This will initiate the script that will first install the CabsAuto, then CabsManual, restore the files in the Backup.zip file if it exists, and finally restore the files in the SDBackup.zip file if it exists..
###############################################
Please note that files in CabsAuto are cleared out as they are installed so you may want to have a "CabsAuto.save" you copy over before a Reload.

WOW! - One Question
This looks like an amazing release. I haven't flashed my phone since TNT 4.0, but I am going to try this tomorrow night for sure. Just one question, does this have the fixes so that there are no problems with the missed call notifications when using GPRS or during another call?
Thanks a lot for your hard work again mfrazzz!

6meg PagePool. You can see free ram after a clean install in the image posted in the first thread. Roughly 25meg of Program Memory, and 42meg of Storage.

As stated this is mentioned as a known issue in the first post still. Never got from its right what the fix was (and may just be an issue with 318).
Awesome Job!
Once again, an awesome job mfrazzz. Keep it up. I have been using the XM6R3 until today.
An awesome collection of apps in this release.

The radio fix?
The Radio fix (XDA Cingular WM6 Radio Fix2.cab) ... has that already been applied and, if not, what does it fix exactly?
Which could be causing my problem? My girlfriend isn't getting my texts and she has verizon. Is it the 2.19 radio rom, this rom, or the T-mobile settings I chose?

[2007-12-17] Q-Mobile 1.1 ROM Final

Attention, this ROM version is now deprecated, see this thread for Q-Mobile 1.2!
5.2.1948 Build 18548.0.7.0
And...without further ado. This should be the final revision of this ROM for a while. All bugs from 1.0 fixed with a couple more tweaks, etc. If you think you're missing something read these posts in full and you'll probably find it.
For AT&T Tilt users...I have had a few guinea pig volunteers I will be tapping later this week in an attempt to make a port for your network. Keep in mind this will be specifically for those users wanting to use radio 14.09 with an AT&T data service plan. If you have a tilt but are not an AT&T customer you should probably just use this ROM. See this thread for information on radios.
Tweaks/etc.
Don't forget to check out the Q-Mobile 1.1 Downloads section in the next post...I'm always updating it with pertinent information as people request features and/or find tweaks, bug fixes for certain configurations, etc.
Upgrade Directions
Install HardSPLv1 if you haven't already!
Flash this ROM.
After first boot, perform a HARD RESET. This is accomplished by holding both soft keys while pushing the reset. You will see a white screen asking you to press the send key to wipe your device; do this.
Why? Because it really *can* help make the ROM run like it should. I confirmed this with Spb Benchmark.
Does it make other ROMs run better too? Yes.
ChangeLog for 1.11
Sounds & Notifications are fixed!
- Sorry about this...there were some permissions issues which prevented them from being selectable. Already upgraded to 1.1 and installed files? No problem! Read this post to see alternative options or why it won't hurt to do a full backup and then restore after upgrading to 1.11 (from 1.1 only).
ChangeLog for 1.1
Email attachments fixed!
- Q-Mobile 1.0 had a bug where attachments in email wouldn't open until you saved them. This is now fixed!
.Net CF 3.5 Fixed!
- Added Net CF Config under Programs\System in case you have to run multiple versions. Almost all apps should work with 3.5 now, but if they don't you can install 2.0 SP2 from below and use this app to decide which runtime your app should use. Remember that 3.5 is a LOT faster so use it where possible!
SQL Server Compact 3.5 is fixed.
- Since only the server core has changed to 3.5 there should be no application incompatibility--but if you need an earlier version they should be able to work in tandem. No configurator is necessary as with .Net 3.5 above.
MS Office 2007 Uprage for File Formats
- Now you can open even more (unconverted) file types! (Think email attachments).
More GDI/Font Cache options in Kaiser Tweak! If you have a lot of graphics on your today screen you can now set the cache even larger than before!
- If you are having an issue with icons loading slowly you can also turn off the File System and/or File System Filter caches--this may help or it may not, experiment to see what works for your setup!
Equalizer 1.02 was removed.
- As pointed out it appears to work but doesn't really. If you think it was working for you check Dutty's cabs below and install it again!
More cleanup with regard to deprecated files.
- This includes the customer feedback application, more registry settings dealing with SQM, etc.
HTC Recorder tweak. (Directory default is now My Audio instead of My Voices).
Camera shutter sound is now off by default.
- This is an option available within the camera settings menu so feel free to turn it back on. I find the camera takes faster pictures with it off, not to mention it was annoying
Kaiser Tweak now has options for more storage card power management settings.
- The internal SD card is now linked to the next option (Pocket IE cache).
Kaiser Tweak has a new option for the Pocket IE cache location which can be changed to be on your storage card.
- Be aware that if you enable this, the power management for the internal SD card *must* be disabled (and it should do this automatically) because Pocket IE will hang the entire machine if it isn't.
Compact List of Features
TouchFLO (finger scrolling) *is* included. FTouchFLO/Cube is not.
.Net CF 3.5
Sql Server Compact 3.5
FULL Video Access (Full YouTube as well as the normal m.youtube.com)
Custom KaiserTweak for this ROM.
Arcsoft MMS 4.2.8.1

I love your rom, but please leave the clear storage function in your next if it will be any next version It can´t take that much of resources to leave it because my Tytn II is really hard to make a hard reset, sometimes I have to press the f*cking button combination 30 times untill it makes as it should and it is so frustrating - I sometimes feel the urge to throw the bugger into the wall
Othervise I loved 1.0 so this could only be better
Is there a way to uninstall office and the coreplayer ???
I'm french and I prefere install a french office pearhaps without last update ...
I'm working for few days with the first version and I really think it's the best one... i'am glade to see this new version !!!
Go on man !!!!
Haven't tried your v1.0 but I think this is a good chance to test this your latest version! Looks very impressive based on compact feature set and the screenshots! Thanks.

I've some .reg file to install but on this rom itsays me that : "there is no application associated with "my file.reg". Run the application first, then open this file from within the application"...
Why can't it write on my BDR ???
I haven't installed the ROM yet but you'd need a regeditor to be installed before you can run/associate .reg files... PHM reg editor and Schap's reg editor are some good free ones...Schap's Advanced Config utility is then a good tool to use to associate your reg editor to the file.
Dear Quentin,
Could you specify if the bug "when one turns on vibrate only, and the vibration never stops with incoming calls?" is solved also with this ROM? Thanks a lot!

Very good ROM
I have to admit that after flashing all ROMs in this forum this is the most responsive one. It has exactly what I need.
The only thing I noticed that is not working properly is the shortcut on HTC Home for the backlight.
Is it possible to fix it?

Best ROM; I have tryed some

Hi
I don't understand as everybody consider a ROM as good if it is disable to run properly Adobe Reader 2.0.
I use a lot the Adole Reader 2.0 which has reflow mode, essential feature to read pdf documents e.g. pdf electronic books and I use the Tytn II to read books. As all you know, Adobe Reader LE has not this feature and so it is useless.
For instance, in Schap 4.31 and 4.30 there is a conflit between Adobe Reader 2.0 and Task manager (X button). If we open the Adobe Reader 2.0 and open a pdf document, it works. However when we click in the cross X to close the Adobe Reader, Tytn II crash with these ROMs. We can avoid this closing the Adobe using the command Exit; however this is not practical.
For me, by default, Schap's ROMs have the best looking.
I use the Task Manager (X button) configured to close the program, not minimize it.
- Original HTC and Sleuth 1.0 ROMs have not this problem and so I use Sleuth 1.0.
- Q-mobile 1.2 ROM has only one background, it is disable to configure automatically the phone provider, it has no game neither voice dial. It has a interesting GPS tool to observe satellites before start Tomtom and TCPMP by default.
- Schap’s 4.30 has the problem mentioned above, but has Advanced configuration tool. It has not Java and Voice dial neither GPS tool.
- Schap’s 4.31 has a better Advanced configuration tool and it has a interesting GPS tool. It has not Java and Voice dial.
- Jack’s 1.1a has a lot of interesting programs, but it’s a little different of normal way to work with the Tytn II and we need to learn a little more about this ROM. It has a program called Multipad that is fantastic to write notes by hand with a thin line and quick to write. However the physical keyboard has some symbols changed of position. It has by default Battery status and Resco Explorer v6.17 what is good. It has lot of games but only two backgrounds. It has no X button and we need to install other like magic button. This ROM, however, it seems a little unstable.
- Laurentius26 v_1 has Schap’s Advanced configuration tool v1.1. It has the same problem with Adobe Reader 2.0; after close this program, Start icon crash. Resco Explorer doesn’t run properly in this ROM; this is also a problem with others ROMs; to observe this problem, try to see Windows files using the up and down arrows; it is very slow to do this.
Thanks very much.

Not to be rude and nothing against you, but, your post just cracked me up man!
Am not sure what your point is here but I sure hope it's not being hung up on whether Adobe Reader works perfectly on a ROM or not. All of the other apps that you're talking about are available as cab files so you can install them as you wish on your "perfect" ROM...
Mmm... I don't have any problem with running Resco Explorer on my build
Adobe Reader I took out and replaced with PocketXPDF which runs much better then Adobe in my opinion.
Do you use latest builds of your software?

As I stated in my notes, my rom is targeted for ATT Tilt (since this is what I have), and keyboard mapping to HTC variant (e.g. Tytn II) is just a removal of one registry key.
Background? Different people just have different taste on it so I just take it out from the rom and let people add whatever they like later.
For X Button, HTC's one is probably the worest I ever use. User unfriendly, too less function for too many memory use compare to Wisbar, SPB close button, WKTASK, ... etc. BTW, QuickMenu in my rom has this feature too.
Unstable? Can you give more detail?
For PDF file, you may want to check out Piscel Browser. Much better than Pocket Adobe IMHO.
There is no best or perfect rom (unless you build one for yrself). Only ROMs that will serve some people the most.
To get the perfect ROM
Hi Sherpa, Moi5508 and ROMs makers
Excuse me to insist.
I wish to thank very much to all ROMs makers. My goal is indeed to give my contribute to get a perfect ROM. Unfortunately I don’t know to make a ROM.
I know we can customize any ROM of Tytn II with cabs. However, for me, makes no sense to have by default in a ROM a Task Manager (X button) to close the programs and we can not use it; we need instead to install other like e.g. Magic Button because the default X button crash Tytn II.
In my job, in a Project department in a shipyard, we need to read lot of reports, rules, catalogues, books, etc, which usually are in a pdf format and Word format. That´s the reason why Adobe Reader 2.0 with reflow feature is so important.
I think that Tytn II is to use mainly for professional purpose like a PC as it is a Pocket PC, not only like a phone or a GPS, and so on.
Lot of members are preoccupied with amount of memory and request Big Storage taking off important software and lot of customize possibility, resulting in a big work and time, loading cabs, installing and testing them.
I think that, even if we don’t use them usually, a good ROM must have by default, software we normally have in a PC.
Original HTC ROM, unfortunately has bugs, but it has practically most of the important software we need to use in a professional environment, less the Adobe Reader 2.0, I don’t know why as it’s free.
For me makes no sense to reduce the capability of Tytn II. On the contrary we must to increase its possibility e.g. with a decent Internet Explorer and others like a PC. For instance we need Java to install mini Opera.
Thanks

Hi Laurentius26 - PocketXPDF & Resco
Hi Laurentius26
Thanks very much for your answer.
Resco Explorer runs well in your ROM when folder has few files. At Windows folder which has thousands of files is noticeable what I mentioned, it’s slow using the up and down arrows; at list in my Tytn II WWE Europe one.
I don’t know PocketXPDF. Can you please tell me if this one has reflow mode (to read a pdf it only move up and down because reflow split a long text line in several small ones that match display size.
Please tell us the site to find it.

Hi jackleung - Multipad is fantastic
Hi jackleung
Thanks very much for your answer.
As I said, your ROM is very interesting as it has lot of useful software by default; as it is a little unusual I feel that I need more time to learn to use it; may be I was using wrongly the software and I found a little instability, my fault; as I use Tytn II in a professional environment, like a PC, I have few time to learn using it and test all features.
Multipad is fantastic; please tell us the site where is the cab.
You said "Piscel Browser. Much better than Pocket Adobe IMHO". Where is the cab please. Has it reflow mode, I mentioned in the previous (above) post, as Adobe Reader 2.0?
Thanks very much

For multipad, you can just copy the exe file from my rom, no cab or installation is needed. For Piscel, I am not sure what is reflow mode, but you drag, scroll, zoom in/out with just yr finger motion. (This feature is long before Iphone or HTC FLoflow exist). U can check out this site for detai: http://www.picsel.com/index.php/solutions/view/C11/ For cab, you probably can search this site or google for it.
In the Windows directory it's always slow reading, that's not a problem of Resco. If you use the default explorer you have the same issue.
PocketXPDF you can find here:
http://pocketxpdf.sourceforge.net
All info can be found there as well.

Leo

But you will see a BIG different if you need to sort the file, resco return almost instantly and Windows could takes couple mins to finished.
For Resco, it make a big different if you check "hide file in rom" (why we need to see files that we can't change anyway?)
There are a few PDF viewers out there for the PDA. To be honest I include Adobe LE in mine because I was comparing it with the older Clearvue--and Adobe LE is INCREDIBLY faster on large document loads and viewing than Clearview was.
There is now two others (the XPDF mentioned here and another that escapes me at the moment) which people claim to be superior to even Adobe LE. One day I'll get around to testing them and see if that is true for speed in a large document as well (the most useful to me).
But right now I'm happy with the default feature set of my ROM, everything works together without crashing and people can easily add specific things they like to their device to make it run the way they want. The next planned update of Q-Mobile won't be until HTC releases an update that fixes some major issues (better drivers for the MSM7200 to improve battery life, video performance, etc). Or windows mobile 6.1 professional becomes available

after testing almost all the cooked roms I actually settled down on yours! Thank you again!
Adobe Reader 2.0 reflow feature is indispensable
Hi
I know ClearView and Adobe Reader LE (Light Edition). These pdf readers are useless as they have not reflow mode.
Adobe Reader 2.0 is free and has reflow mode.
This feature takes e.g. a A4 text size, e.g. letter size 10 or 12, and in each A4 line, it split the long original line is several small lines in order each small line match the Pocket PC display size. In this way, to read the text, we only need to move the text up or down; it is not necessary to move the text to left or right.
Furthermore by each click in the D-pad it moves a complete pocket display page up or down permiting to read a document or a book in a very confortable way.
Adobe Reader full version compared to LE version is HUMONGOUS! Blah!
PocketXpdf is worst than Adobe Reader 2.0
I gave it a try to PocketXpdf and this is worst than Adobe Reader 2.0 (don't make confusion with Adobe Reader LE which is very bad).
PocketXpdf is slow, it has a little feature like reflow from Adobe Reader 2.0, but it's slow, and the pages scrolling is very bad, when compared with Adobe Reader 2.0.
I please ask to ROM makers that (when they put by default the X button from HTC (Task Manager), and the user configure it to close the programs) please test in their ROMs, if Adobe Reader 2.0 when it is closed using the X upper right display corner icon, doesn't crash Tytn II.
I remenber that HTC original and Sleuth 1.0 ROMs works perfectly in this point, and so there must be something in others ROMs to appear the problem.
I would like very much to use others of your ROMs, whose are fantastics, and I'm disable due to this problem.
Thanks
cribeiro
From my point of view the PDF readers in cooked ROMs are there just to be able to read some PDF if needed, not to do supa-dupa magic with it. It's your option to install different PDF reader that suits you well.
You are saying that after closing the Adobe Reader (full) it crashes your phone.
Have you tried different Task Manager?
I'm using Q-Mobile 1.2 as in my opinion it is closest to the stock ROM but with MUCH better improvements, speed and stability.
Try this one and try installing different task managers, maybe you will find one that fits you best without crashes.
My 2 cents...
where can i find different task managers... i also want to use my tilt to read ebooks and i understand where he is coming from. i would love to get my rom'd tilt to run 2.0 or even find half way decent TTS software to read it to me while i drive... i have already converted the last 4 books i have read to word using my adobe 7.0 pro but that is a pain to have to do before every book.

Magicall Today Icon

I use Magicall since my old HTC TyTN days for call filtering, and it is an excellent piece of software.
The problem is that on Diamond (and a couple of other TF3D devices that I checked, for that matter), the Today plug-in where you can see whether Magicall is running (and its status), does not show up. Is there any way to make the MagiCall icon appear in Today screen?
No because TF3D mask everything since it runs on top. Unless you disable TF3D and use only the default style Today plugin, then can you see those icons.
Infact on WM6.5, the Titanium plugin also functions the same. Because it runs on top, you will not see those 'tray' icons.
Disabling TF3D is not such a bad idea though
Well, I am used to TF3D, and I don't want to miss its functionality... I guess the Magicall icon will have to sacrificed...
Magical used to have a very good forum with good technical help. Ask in the Magical forum what solution they have for TF3D integration.
I have used Magical and found it very useful for international calling card selection. Once the rules were set and Magical was set to run when phone was on I never had a need to check the status.
Maybe your problem is that you can't be sure when Magical is on. In which case solve that issue (to make it always on) rather than an indicator button.
This is from the Magicall web site (Mobiion)
From Sysadmin:
Re: does it works on newer ROM images ? ex: wm6.1 or wm6.5 ?

WM6.1 -- Yes
WM6.5 -- Should be working, not tested
Manila -- Not compatible
So it is not compatible. Before giving up use the XDA Manila Today Page mod to add the today page into TF3D. Run Magicall on our Today page. The above comment will refer to Magicall only not being compatible with standard TF3D (Manila). I am using the Today page mod but not with Magicall. Check it this mod before giving up. It is very useful anyway (I am running SPB Diary in TF3D as a Today Plug-in)
I hadn't heard about this XDA Manila Today Page mod before... Does it work smoothly with our TD2? Doesn't it require an extra memory load? I wouldn't want to sacrifice memory or stability of my device, for the sake of the Magicall Today icon...
I have not had a problem with it from the day I have used it.
Read about it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=508102\
Additional memory is minimal. TF3D itself is the memory hog (but the D2 has lots)
OK, then!
One last question: Speaking of memory footprints, does MagiCall itself put a heavy load in the device RAM? I am running it only on some occasions, but if it does not affect the TD2 performance, then I could have it auto-load with the device (and in that case, the Today icon showing the app's state would indeed become rather unimportant).
Magicall puts very little load on the device. I used to use it on my D810 with only 64MB RAM base (about 6MB spare). The D2 has something like 288MB base.
Unused RAM does not make your device any better. It is there to be used. If you have 200MB free then you should have purchased a Nokia
