Keyboard Layout - HTC Vox

I installed the dopod rom on my french E650 but I can't find a way to have a french layout for my slide out keyboard. The only thing I found in the registry which refer to keyboard layout was theses keys :
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload]
"*"="e0010409"
@="e0010409"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload\1]
@="e0010409"
"*"="e0010409"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\toggle]
"Hotkey"="1"
and
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e0010409]
"Keyboard Layout"="00000409"
"Ime File"="\windows\et9ime.dll"
"Layout Text"="eT9 IME"
In HKCU, I replaced "e0010409" by "e001040c". And I created a new key :
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e001040c]
"Layout Text"="eT9 IME"
"Ime File"="\windows\et9ime.dll"
"Keyboard Layout"="0000040c"
I also created this one :
Code:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\Locale = 040c (String)
But it didn't work

try to edit symbol.txt in Winddows directory.

There's no symbol.txt in my windows directory, however I found a eT9.Vox.0409.kmap.txt that I edited, but after a reboot I'm still in QWERTY mode.
I'm beginning to wonder if the AZERTY layout is loaded somewhere since it's a English(AU)/Chinese ROM.

[SPV C600] Try to read japanese character

Hi !
I tried to make some registry hack in order to read some documents with japanese characters in it.. But I failed. I don't understand ...
I have a french Rom and the default font is Segoe Condensed. So I copy new font into my Storage card in windows\Fonts\ directory, especially msgothic.ac3
Then I add these key in the registry :
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\FontLink]
Segoes Condensed="\\Storage Card\\windows\\Fonts\\msgothic.ac3,MS UI Gothic"
Tahoma="\\Storage Card\\windows\\Fonts\\msgothic.ac3,MS UI Gothic"
SimSun="\\Storage Card\\windows\\Fonts\\msgothic.ac3,MS UI Gothic"
... and many other links (font used in my documents)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\FontPath]
FontPath="\Storage Card\windows\Fonts"
I checked that the fontlink is activated and finally i reboot my phone...
Everything goes right but when i open my files with ClearVue ... I always have squire instead of japanese characters...
Any ideas?

OK, you need another font set for CV,
pls try to those attached CV JP font into Storage Card\windows\.
i thinks it will work,
Thank you very mutch Asukal for your help !
Unfortunately .. it doesn't work. I tried to copy them into my Storage Card in windows and windows\Fonts and even on the system ..
But I'm wondering about these files.. they don't have any extension.. is it normal or should I rename them with .ttf ?
they doesnt need any extention.
this was taken from Japanese CV applications,
and worked on a WM5.
so it may different style of font?
Any way, CV doesnt read font of TTF or ac3<on WM5 and PPC3>
The way,, if the CV for SmartPhone JP, or such like application,
you can extract them and take those files,
Or,,, location of those file??
i thinks same folder as CV.exe or windows folder.
But can not place them on \main\windows....
i will check the Chinese SmartPhone how they do?
Now it no battery charging to check!
Wow this is a quick answer
I've just try to copy these files on the CV directory... But without success ..
I'm gonna write an email to Wettek to get more information about it ..
my chinese smarphone doesnt have CV,,
and i couldn find any japanese CV for Smartphone now,,
Anyone have the solution ? T_T

Are there any other application for your desire?
No Japanese MS SmartPhone Exisiting now,
No chance to get from there,,,,,
So, i will chack it again possiblility!
In fact they said that it would work with japanese font installed. But I've added this font (msgothic) and it don't work either.
I did not find any japanese rom for smartphone except from microsoft *for development purpose*. It's in such rom that i've extracted ac3 font.
I can't even try these new dictionary :
http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=1&productId=191833
http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=1&productId=191878
They need to be runned under a japanese rom to work.
:x
I don't understand why microsoft don't make patches to enable other languages in WM5 SP/Pocket
hi, i agree that!
anyway, i checked SDK emulator Image for japanese SmartPhone,
then i have found registries as follows.
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\FontLink]

"MS UI Gothic"="\\windows\\nina.ttf,Nina"

can you try this? if wettek corect, your smartphone has jp font you can read.
But you can modify strat as: Storage\
I've copied my files into the real windows folder (not on my sd card) And I've added your key. Unfortunately I can't add the two first key in
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\FontLink\SystemLink]
because I can't write japanese characters. I've restarted my SP and still nothing!
I'm gonna be mad
Can anyone makes me a cab file with these registry hacks, I'll try it again with all keys added.
Thank's Asukal for your help and your patience !
hi,
i tried to make CAB,
But this is my 1st cab for Smart Phone,
not sure it work or not.
1 is the font in \Storage\windows
other is font in \windows
i will take my japanese friend who is famililar to Smart Phone here

You're right it's the default font.

Still the same problem.
Hi,
I've tried to copy the contents (4 font files) of CV_JP_FONT.rar into \Windows folder (not under Storage Card or \Windows\Fonts folder) and loaded Japanese PDF document with ClearVue PDF in my Dopod S300 (HTC Star Trek).
Certainly it works...
Of course, Japanese system font has been copied, and related registry also set in my S300.
Pls check again.
Can you download one of these lesson and try reading them ?

I'm wondering if it's not because of the sunsin font used in these documents i can't read them...
EDIT :
These files are already in my windows directory...
I downloaded a japanese pdf files and it till doesn't work
I should miss something.. it's not possible !
I've also tried to enable chinese character. Nothing !
Is it possible to use a real rom under Smartphone emulator? If so you can try with official Orange ROM. See under this section "SPV C600 French ROM" or tell me how should i do to make a full backup? (maybe with awizard 1.3 ? )

I've downloaded a DOC file from the site you mentioned and open with ClearVue Document, it can work quite correctly...
I think the CV font is not depend on the original font in DOC or PDF files. In this case, the character is certainly displayed with MS UI Gothic font that installed in my phone, even though the font is specified as SimSun (S/Chinese) in the original DOC file.
For now I can't do anything for about a week. I'll not have an acces to the web. I hope that i will find a solution to my problem during this time...
Thank's to both of you. See you next week

[HELP/HOW TO] WM6 in other language than English

I see many threads on this forum regarding WM6 version in other language than english (ea. Italian, German, Spanish, etc.). Any one can help us (italian/german/spanish guys) to make a WM6 rom in ours language?
I see that on Tytn forum a french guy make a translation in french of WM6 using mui from emulator image.
I (We) need to know:
- how to exctract .mui file from emulator image? --> DONE! (see below)
- what .mui file we need from emulator image?
- what file need to be translated (ea. initflash/*.rgu) and how translate that?
- how add (where?) .mui file to a rom or rom kitchen?
HOW TO EXTRACT .mui file from emulator image
Original thread by Bram87 can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=307968
Code:
How to dump the wm6 files
1- Dowload the images that you want here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=38c46aa8-1dd7-426f-a913-4f370a65a582&DisplayLang=en#filelist
Available languages are:
0404 CHT Chinese Traditional
0804 CHS Chinese Simplified
0405 CSY Czech
0406 DAN Danish
0413 NLD Dutch
0409 USA English
0407 GER German
0408 ELL Greek
040b FIN Finnish
040c FRA French
040e HUN Hungarian
0410 ITA Italian
0411 JPN Japanese
0412 KOR Korean
0414 NOR Norwegian
0415 PLK Polish
0416 PTB Portuguese Brazil
0816 PTG Portuguese Portugal
0418 ROM Romanian
0419 RUS Russian
041b SKY Slovak
0c0a ESN Spanish
041d SVE Swedish
041f TRK Turkish
2- Install them in your computer.
3- Take the image that you want from the installation folder.
For example, if you have downloaded the images for NLD language look in the folder "C:\Program Files\Windows Mobile 6 SDK\PocketPC\Deviceemulation\0413":
The image for Hermes is: PPC_NLD_GSM_VR.BIN (I'm not 100% sure)
- Download Tadzio's imgfs excelent tools in:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298327
- Unzip the tools along with the image in any folder.
- Rename the image to A.BIN (to make the next commands easier to type).
- Open a D.O.S. command window and perform these commands:
> NBSPLIT -emu A.BIN
(it generates two files: A.BIN.EXTRA and A.BIN.PAYLOAD)
> IMGFSFROMNB A.BIN.PAYLOAD IMGFS.BIN
(it generates the file IMGFS.BIN)
> IMGFSTODUMP IMGFS.BIN
And that's all. Files are dumped in /Dump directory
Any help is apprecieted.
Any one can make a simple "how to" to start the translation project?
I hope that with some help I (We) can make WM6 rom in other languange...
Slump
same here, there is no prob. 2 extract lang dependant files. U will need all Lang packages from emulator ( ...Lang_0409 or your language code) so at the en U have folders like OEM_Lang_0409, Phone_Lang_0409 .... (0409=WWE) Next step is initflashes.dat (in OEM_Lang_XXXX) and *.rgu files. Here i'm stuck. DOnt know how.
After that u simply replace packages in rom dump and compile rom.
I don't have any experience with the technical stuff that you're telling. But I want to help you by doing the dutch translation.
If you gave me the files I need to translate I will do it.
On another thread Anichillus wrote:

For start : I didn't do this yet, or at least not this way.
Now, in the following days i will try and do it too and if i succede I will provide you guys the full step by step tutorial, because so many have already requested it and it's driving me nuts already
I wouldn't want the OS in my native language ...but hey, it's a test and i love tests.
I am thinking that this is the easy way to do it :
1. get ahold of the .mui files for your language
2. get a rom of your choice
3. rename your .mui files so that you can replace the ones in the rom (not necessarily)
4. edit carefully the iniflashfiles.dat (just save, last line blank an delete first 2 bytes FF FE with winhex)
5. edit the .hv files - > this is a pain in the ass because all directions to
windows\program files\...for example...should be changed acording to your language or they won't work
I guess you should edit the :
6. boot.rgu and boot.hv also because they also contain directions to original language system paths - theese files are in XIP
and that should be it ... if i didn't missed any parts
This is the original thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1289893&postcount=23
Ciao Slump
I tried to make a german one.
I copied all mui files from terra dump - sys and oem folder - and renamed it to 0409 - so i don´t have to change all registry settings.
But without editing the rgu (.hv) files it doesn´t boot.
SO like anichillus say - you will have to edit the boor.rgu also.
Big projekt.
I work in the moment on the same!
WWE means World Wide Edition :-> but the most time it is in English, only some Smartphones have all Language!!!
My way to see the different betwen any Language are:
Extract any examples of simulare Roms! The easyest way are the Microsoft Rom Images from Emulator with tadzio's tools.
Compare the Dump Folder -> you see all different rgu dsm mui and dll files! Yes you read right! MUI and RGU are not enough!
Compare all Registry Hives -> you found a lot of different entrys and you can see, some Programs need Regkeys to switch to a other Language. The Basic switching are over MUILang= key.
Some RGU Files have different settings.
Here the different in the Registry Hives!
Here the different in the Dump Folder!
My Problem is in the moment ... i cant create my own working Emulator Image! Some troubles if i want build the working Rom. But to develope is the Emulator the best way! Its the only way to have a debug screen and you can see missing files etc ... :-/
Next Problem ... if i insert the different files in a Prophet Rom ... some settins are missing -> Stuck at Splace Screen 2 and ... no ... initfiles.dat is not wrong :-( i have try some different way to test my files ... use a working rom and copy over activsync the new files (this work) after that i change the MUI settings in the registry -> reboot -> stuck an Splace screen 2 after set the MUI settings :-/
Next Rom i use a Example are Roms from Startrek. They can switch betwen 8 languages. This is my goal! To create a Rom Based an the switching future from Startrek and store all language in the ext_rom. But in the moment ... i think its imposible. Some cooking tools can extract a emulator rom image but cant build a new on and the next point is the debuging port to see errors. without them its impossible to create a working rom ........... ARGL HAR GRRR ZZZOOOOTTTTTT
hi there.
im from germany and i would like to help.
Anything what I can do to make it work?
keep on going, great work

English WM6 rom + Italian keyboard

Hello,
I've a Qtek 9000 with Italian keyboard. I've installed the Business with VC rom and right now i have a completely english keyboard. I've an italian rom too, so anyone can explain how to change that keyboard layout? Or btw tell me how to open the 2 roms and fix the DLL from the first rom to second. At this time, i've tryed some method but right now, no rom extracted.
Thanks in advice.

It's no matter of DLLs, it's a matter of registry settings.
Can you handle a registry editor? If you can, try looking for keys relating to keyboard layout. For example, on my imate jasjar with Jwrightcmps's 2.02.02 WWE rom the relevant key is HKLM/SOFTWARE/OEM/Qwerty/Layout. Another way to find the registry key is by searching for key values though. Try for hex 409 if your current layout is US english, or hex 809 if it is UK english, but as you'll probably find several keys with either of those values, be very careful to pick the right key.
Once you have found the relevant key, set its value at hex 410 (decimal 1040), then reboot (possibly twice), and enjoy your italian keyboard.
I exported the key i use to modify the keyboard.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\Qwerty]
"Layout"=dword:00010410
You can download here and import using any regeditor:

How to extract xT9 from a ROM, Need danish xT9 on my S710

Hi I have installed a new ROM on my S710, but it is without danish xT9, and cannot find it anywhere. I though have the nordic ROM file on my computer, so how can I extract the xT9 from that?
Just follow the WIki on dumping/extracting the ROM until you have the OEM and SYS folder. Then go to OEM\OEMAPPS\ and get eT9.Danish.Ldb.dll and eT9.Dis.9Keys.Danish.Kbd.dll and maybe eT9.Vox.0401.kmap.txt (only if Danish has it's own layout) where 0401 has to be the Dutch layout (don't know the number, but 0809 and 0401 is English and 0407 is German and so on). And then you will need a registry key, I'll provide...
You will find a lot of info here on how to add the dictionnary once you have exctrated it.
To extract the rom you can get my kitchen.
First you must get the nbh from your Ruu_vox_htx ..... exe You can extract the nbh with winrar for example.
Then in the extract folder of my kitchen start 1.Dutty.NBH.tool and decompile the nbh. Then place Os.nb in the ROM folder of the kitchen. Rename it 04_OS.nb if it is not already named like that.
Now you need to run 2.ExtractROM.bat from the Extract folder.
That's a good start.
Good luck
Wooops, you beat me to it
These are the registry keys you have to change/add:
change (add 0106 (the Danish one) to the existing values with a ,):
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Tegic\eT9]
"AvailableLanguages"="0109,010C,0107E"
add:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Tegic\eT9\LdbDlls]
"0406"="eT9.Danish.Ldb.dll"
add:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Tegic\eT9\IME\KdbDlls]
"00010606"="eT9.Dis.9Keys.Danish.Kbd.dll"
Danish is 0406 I hope it' 0106 and 00010606 but I can't be sure, you can look it up in the ROM you have!
Wow nice, thanks you both for your help, will try it right away ...
Have tried now several times, but cannot extract the 04_OS.nb, it simply just moves the file to C:\temp dir, but does not extract the file, what am I doing wrong?
BTW Have put the Vox Kitchen on C:\Vox Kitchen, but still I have to put the ROM in C:\ROM, will not work with the ROM folder in Vox Kitchen?
