so I just recieved my g3 in the mail, unlocked it step by step, got crossbow 1.7 no problem, works like a charm, very easy install and setup (much easier than doing it on a locked g4) but now when I make calls, the operator tells me that the international call cannot be completed as dialed... help!!! i have the IPL/SPL 3.08 and radio version 2.69 i believe...
check with your service provider...
the problem could be due to your wireless service. i'm on t-mobile, and I know that when i go into my account information in my.t-mobile.com i have to choose to accept or call out to international numbers. otherwise, I think it's blocked by default. It's free...but it's just done that way in case you dial out accidentily, I guess.

I've just Ported from Orange UK to TMobile using my Tmobile Vario II phone.
The PORT has gone through successfully and people are successfully ringing and texting my Orange phone number which is now on T-Mobile.
However, when ever I look in Outlook, the To or From Address is still listed as my original T-mobile number. Also if I check the Telephone number in PhoneAlarm it states my phone number is the original T-mobile one.
I have soft reset the device with no affect. I have also uninstalled and re-installed PhoneAlarm with no affect.
I know it's a small thing but I want the correct phone number to show.
Any ideas on what to try next? Will a hard-reset work?
Thanks
Mike

Hi people,
Sorry to bother you with this, but I bet most people don't post until they have a problem!!!
I've just taken the plunge and updated the ROM on my O2 XDA IQ, and now it won't send or receive SMS! It gives me a "SIM is not valid" error message.
Does anyone know how I can fix this? Or explain why it is giving me this error message? Is it because of the CID being different? Or the region of the ROM I put on?
Thanks for reading!
G
are you using a different sim network? i guess your phone is still sim/cid locked.
I switched to Orange, and was able to send SMS fine for a week before I changed the ROM, so it's not a problem with the SIM. Is there a way to change the phones CID back to it's original value (I made sure I noted it down before changing it to the Super-CID)?
im not sure about that. your device should be working properly. try to go over the procedures again.
Did anyone manage to sort this out? I have the same problem, with an orange sim. Cant send or receive text messages, calls are fine. The sim works fine in other phones, and other network sims work fine in the IQ. Tried both the SP5 rom and the 8310 with no luck. In call options it doesnt have the service centre numbers, but if I try and change it, it doesnt save just goes blank every time.
I would revert to the O2 rom but cant find that anywhere! I have all original CDs with the IQ I find it disgusting they dont provide the ROM. That would be like buying a PC from the shop with a windows CD!
Try to call/ask Orange Customer Service then ask for their Text Messages Center Number..write it down. Then on your phone, navigate to Start - Settings - Phone - Call Options - Text Messages Service Center, then enter the number that the Orange Rep gave to you.
That's the problem of sim being not compatible with the rom.
U need the latest rom from orange 2.0.14.0 for spv c600, on this rom this problem is solved by orange, but I don't think you would be happy with it.
Anyone using, or planning to use, the HTC Touch Cruise on the UK T-Mobile network will very probably need to do a special setup on their device to get voicemail access working properly.
The symptom is that your callers will be able to leave you voicemail messages but you will not be able to pick them up from your phone. When you get a voicemail message you will get the notification but when you press the soft key to access voicemail it will dial the number but you will then get an error message saying "access to this number is barred" and the system will hang up on you.
If you try accessing voicemail by holding down the "1" key or by explicitly dialing the voicemail access number retrieved from the network (probably of the form "+44050<your mobile number minus the leading zero>" or ""+44068<your mobile number minus the leading zero>") you will get the same message. Dialing 222 will work but will also initiate a voicemail setup message each time and however many times you switch your phone on and off to reload the voicemail settings from the network it still won't work.
I just spent 2 days with the very helpful T-Mobile support to sort this out, ultimately getting escalated up two levels in the technical support group, until I got someone who recognised the problem.
The issue is simple to resolve. The problem is that the format of the voicemail access number that the T-Mobile UK network pushes down to the handset is incompatible with the HTC software on the Touch Cruise (and maybe other devices too). The thing the software doesn't like is the "+" at the beginning.
To fix it go to the Settings/Personal/Phone application and click the second tab ("Services"). Now select "Voice Mail and Text Messages" and click "Get Settings...". You should now see a screen with two access numbers populated, one for voicemail and the other for text messages. Both will probably start with "+44". The text message access number is OK so don't mess with that but the voicemail access number won't work with the UK network. Simply replace the "+" with "00" and click OK and then your voicemail should work as you expect.
I haven't tried accessing voicemail outside the UK so it is possible that the above might break your access when roaming and you might need to edit back the "+" when travelling. I'd be interested in knowing if anyone has any experience with non-UK access and a "0044..." setting rather than the default "+44...", does it dial the UK access number OK?
(Actually, I never looked at the mechanics of accessing voicemail outside the UK, does it still dial the UK number or does the host network automatically push an alternate local access number to your phone when you register with the network?)

Nice on Julian. I bought an Orbit 2 on O2, but my number doesn't transfer to O2 for few days yet, so have been using my T-Mobile SIM, and also experiencing this problem.
Thanks for sharing the tip!
I'm on UK T-Mob Web&Walk. Switched the +44 entry to 0044...but my TC then coundn't send texts. Switched it back and fortunately can still access voicemail as well as send texts. Strange.
I'm with T-mobile running an old T-mobile sim card on my new TC, when first called voice mail it gave me a long introduction then said "turn of your mobile off and on again to not get this messages again", I turned TC to "air plain mode" back to on mode and everything was cool from there on.
It seems that not everyone have that problem OR T-mobile has sort out that problem after Julian told them about the problem. In any case, thanks Julian to share this with us.
PS (today after reading this post is the first time that I use voice mail with my new TC)
Similar problem on WM 6.5 Asus Crystal
I had exactly this problem with T-Mobile and WM 6.5.
T-Mobile technical support was excellent, ringing back on several occasions to ensure that the problem was fixed, even though my handset is not a supported model. Once I was put through to 2nd layer support they fixed it in seconds.
In a nutshell, if you text and voice service centre numbers begin with a +44......, change them to 0044......
This did not happen on my XDA Exec WM5.0, so appears to be a new thing in WM6.5?
I just started using the phone (with original ROM) in Rogers/Fido network in Toronto, and I have been getting on and off calls going straight to voice mail without the phone ever ringing (no missed call notification by the phone).
Anyone else having the problem? Is it related to the phone going to deep sleep state or polling frequency? Any tweaks or registry editing which would reduce the chance of that?
This is a serious problem for me, as I need reliability. I don't mind giving up some battery performance to correct it.
I may trying updating the GSM Radio. Will it make any difference? As I understand, updating GSM Radio only should not erase all the programs like updating OS ROM does, am I correct? I would back up before doing so.
Sorry to state the obvious, but did you accidentally set your phone to forward all calls to voicemail in setting?

Click to collapse
No. And this does not happen all the time. If I make a call from the phone, then it can start to receive calls without any problem. It just happens at random. And when it happens, repeated calls will all go straight to voice mail.
And I have disabled the no answer forwarding, so it should keep ringing until the caller hangs up.
hey -
first, I'd like to say these forums are awesome! thanks for the great info.
But i am having the 'straight-to-voice mail' problem with my TC too. It doesn't happen every time, but every once and a while i get a voice mail indicator, but the phone never rang. My girlfriend actually called me 3 times in a row, 2 of which went right to mail, the third one rang. odd. So if anyone has any ideas, i would appreciate it!
Edit: I am also on Fido in Toronto. I have been looking around, and there is the suggestion that perhaps this is a problem with the 'Who Called' or 'Name display' features of voicemail, which doesnt work well with some phones. Now i am not sure if this is it - but i upgraded my VM at the same time I got the TC. Another suggestion has been that the Radio Rom doesnt work well with some netorks. Can anyone confirm/deny this? Any other ideas?
hmm - anything new on this?
For me, my workaround solution is to disable 3G - network settings changed to "GSM" instead of "Auto". Now, the calls have been very reliable with no straight to voice mail problem.
So it looks like there are some incompatibility issues with my 1.58.21.23 Radio ROM and Rogers/Fido network/3G. But I don't know where to look for a better radio ROM (other than loading everything for trial and errors).
And which radio ROM is compatible with Polaris? Only those made for Polaris or the same class of phones? It is rumored that Rogers would release Kaiser very soon, so I presume that Kaiser's Radio ROM (not OS obviously) should be compatible?
aww...i really hope it's not 3G - i guess i might as well cancel that data plan Anyway, I've disabled it, so we shall see if it remedies the problem.
Edit: for those of you who are having the same problem and want to disable 3G but still want to be able to use 3G data every once and a while, I have installed Schap's Advanced Configuration too (which is awesome, btw, and can be found by searching the forums). It has a handy feature that permits you to add 3G on/off to the comm. manager, which makes switching between GSM and 3G really easy. Just thought I'd share.
Just grabbed this thread out and update it here:
Seems the problem does not depend mandatory on using 3G or GPRS
and also not depending on the Radio version. I have noticed missed
calls with enabled 3G and with GPRS only. And I have noticed them
with Radio 1.58.23.21 and with 1.64.08.21 on bepe WM6.1 0.64 GER.
I also have a friend who confirmed he noticed missed calls on stock
WM6.0 GER from O2 germany with stock Radio 1.58.23.21. Its annoying!!
I had the same problems with my old Hermes (TyTN 1) with all ROMs
and all Radio versions also. It's a pity to seem the problem persist on
the Polaris I mean, hey, the TC is some kind of phone, isn't it?
And the main task for a phone is being able to receive a call if radio
reception is OK. Never had a standalone phone, which suffered such
problems...

Hi everyone, I have been having the exact same problem on my Cruise (and no, my phone is not set to forward to voice mail). It's very odd since it seems to happen randomly. I found it resolves temporarily if i make a call then hang up.
Can anyone follow-up if switching to "GSM" instead of "Auto" resolves the issue. This has become a serious problem for me and would appreciate any help. Thanks!
UPDATE: after several days of testing, i am happy to say that i have not had any problems since swithching to GSM
Mine is not doing the same in Vancouver.bc Fido.
I've tried multiple radio roms and am gradually working my way down the list from newest to oldest. so far no difference.
Any other ideas?
sorry to resurrect an old threat.
Hey guys/gals
Appologies if this is in the wrong forum.
I have just bought a spv m600 off ebay and have a few questions for you guys.
(i have spent several hours searching here and google for answers to no avail)
The phone is unlocked and has a cooked rom on it.
WM 6.1
Rom Version 7.0.0.7 WWE
Rom Date 7/05/08
Radio Version 02.47.21
Protocol Version 4.1.13.24
ExtROM Version VincentROM(ENG)
1) The ringtone volume is ok but the message alert volume is woefully low, The phone volume is at max and i have tried various reg tweaks/fixes but they made no difference so any ideas there would be greatfully recieved.
2) If i use my voda/orange sims i have no issues but if i use my t-mobile payg sim the phone seems to think i am roaming, Is there a reg tweak to fix this?
3) On the sms screen for both writing and reading texts there is a massive envelope image watermarked onto the background, (don't know who thought that would be a good idea but its right in the way and a pain in the ass), Any way to remove it? (no option in any of the settings so i'm guessing it requires a file replace but which one?)4) I used the HTC network config wizard to setup my t-mobile payg gprs/mms settings and it works fine however when i recieve a mms it adds the international code +44 to the senders number so i don't know who it came from unless i compare the rest of the number to my contacts list.(i know i could fix this by replacing the leading 0 with +44 on all my contacts but i would rather not do this). Could this be related to question 2?
Many thanks for any help you can give, and sorry for all the questions.
I realise its and old phone and many of you may consider it not worth fixing but it is to me as i really like it. (have had a LOT of HTC phones and aside from the s700 this is my fave)
Just flashed WM6.5.3 COM3 Build 23129 WWE bikertibi edition and all issues except #2 are fixed.
