Hi Guys
i'm trying to get my work Lotus Notes appointments in to my WM6 device. Sadly this is not as easy as it should be as its Citrix environment and locked down tighter than a nuns chastity belt.
So, I thought I had an idea! I added my personal email address as an Invite to a meeting and hey presto... the phone received it. The email had the attachment:
C085635.ics
The file even had the little calendar icon ... "result!" i thought... until i clicked it and got the following message:
"Failed to save". Received data may be incomplete"
I've tried this with a couple of appointments but i get the same message. I think the error is misleading as all other attachments come through fine.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
same problems as you
Hello,
I have the same problems as you. Have you found a solution?
Thank you for your reply.
I've found a solution. Just enable "Include file attachments". You can found the setting in the Active Sync options, by the Email Settings. Hope it worked for you too.
I didn't find a solution to that specific problem but when I changed ROMS to a diferent one, it started working fine.
For me, it wasn't as Sussex said as
I think the error is misleading as all other attachments come through fine.

Need major help from the experts here, plz. I am unable to add new contacts on my WM6 Alltel PPC6800. I receive an error message when I hit the "ok" button to add the contact of "an error has occurred in the program". Any advice, folks? I do have various programs downloaded for contacts...Pocket Informant, iContact, PCM Contacts v.18, etc. I am also unable to save contacts from call history, Windows Live Search, etc. Thanks in advance and let me know if further information is needed from myself to help diagnose the problem.
Anyone?
Can someone please assist me w/my original post? Thank you!

Can anyone help me out here? What is the file I need on my PPC to add contacts? Thank you!
the reason nobody answer your post would most likely be because nobody else ever had the same issue or know how to solve it
best bet i have is to reflash the rom of your device if something like that can be don with the device you own
Thanks...
Thank you...I was also told to active sync my contacts again. Any recommendations for a ROM for my Alltel HTC PPC-6800 running WM6? I get a little nervous when it comes to flashing. Just don't want to brick my phone. Thanks...
exchange fails to sync contacts after clearing storage
I'm having the same problem after routinely clearing storage through the shortcut in settings. worked fine before... I've already eliminated the possibility that this is a server-side error. what gives?
i have used opentouch 5.2 for quite some time and have absolutely loved it. the interface is fantastic. tried out 7.1 today to see if it would fix the "unable to send message" error that I receive when trying to send email via smtp that many people are experiencing with wm6.1.
i am so fed up that I have put back on a tmobile wm6 rom, without threaded sms, without all of the cool features the cooked roms offer, just so I don't have to delete and re-add my 2 email accounts 4-5 times a day because they quit letting me send email after only a little while of being set up anew.
arghh... has anyone found a fix for this?

i see it is being discussed here:

Hi,
mms/sms is working on my v7.1 rom, I have no issues using it and most of my users are not having issues.
Please direct your questions in the original thread so we can help you.
SMTP issues - not SMS
I don't use any of these roms yet, so I have no input on a fix.... but it looks like he is talking about SMTP not working correctly - not SMS - so... basically... his emails stop sending after a short while and he has to re-configure his email settings constantly to be able to send his emails.... sounds very annoying - is this a common problem? (makes me think twice about flashing my phone to a 6.1 rom as I use email almost constantly for business)
Yes this is a very annoying problem especially when you store a lot of mails on your device and finally one day it stops sending.
Alternatives like Flex Mail are too slow..
Regards,
Carty..

Thats strange,
I guess I must have misread it, I've always sync my mail with my companies exchange server and never had any issues.

Same here, except I use the free Mail2Web. I rarely if ever have used anything but exchange on these phones.
Ill test using smtp. Exchange works fine.
Edit: working fine so far will test more.
Working fine here
I've been using email a lot on my phone, worked fine for a good six months now with the 6.1 roms. OTP6.5 still being used here... I love the simplicity and stability of HTC home.
yeah it's not an SMS/MMS issue, it's an SMTP issue.
are there any WM6 cooked roms (not wm6.1) that include the WM6.1 threaded SMS system?

No. It's integrated into WM6.1 that I know off.
SMTP Works fine in WM6.1
I have been using WM6.1 Cooked ROMS for a while now and all 6 of my SMTP email accounts work just fine. Never have had to reset anything to use it, only time I have had sending issues are in areas with weak signals and large emails.
i can set up a pop/smtp account in my device with a wm6.1 cooked rom and it will work great for a few hours or a few days sometimes, but inevitably i will get an error message about "unable to send" and after that 1 time of receiving the error message it will *NEVER* send email again on that account until I delete it and re-add the account (and re-write all the emails stuck in my outbox).
It may not be the ROM, I have this problem with 6.0 & 6.1 Official ATT ROMs.
Hi trevorcobb,
I have the same problem you described with email.
I have it on my Tilt, running Official ATT WM6.0 and WM6.1 ROMs. It's VERY ANNOYING!
I've tried POP3 and IMAP4 configurations of my gmail accounts, without luck.
I've tried using different networks, no luck.
I've deleted and recreated my email accounts in my Tilt, and it temporarily fixes the problem, until a few weeks or days later my emails stop going out.
I've looked for help in the Gmail Forums, and other places and found very little.
It seems odd that it should work for a while and then stop, without any warning.
I'll keep working on it, and let me know if anyone knows what causes this or how to fix it permanently.

The OP noted the exact problem - smtp-, not exchange server-based accounts. If the links above describe the problem accurately, it appears that you will not see this problem unless you have timed out an email send request via smtp.
Allegedly there is a fix on way - not holding my breath...
It is possible to add much of the 6.1 functionality to 6.0 - like threaded sms. Some folks report that they have gotten manilla/touchflo2d working as well.
Some kaiser chefs are threatening to go back to cooking 6.0 ROMs - see here which were all faster than the bloated 6.1s anyway.
Nevertheless, hoping to see a fix or update from WM - how would you like to be rocking a Diamond or Touch HD and have this problem?
Cheers,

Try this, it worked for me.
Hi all,
Have been searching wildly for a fix to this and im reaching out for help.
Scenario: Standard email client in honeycomb 3.01 with an exchange account setup.
Issue: embedded images/ html images do not show in body of email. Please note that the issue does not rectify when pressing the show pictures button as nothing changes. All you will see is the box where the image would be and the blue question mark. The images seem to be in the attachments tab and i have the choice of view or save.
Has someone come up with a reason this happens and how to fix it?
Note also that the same exchange account is set up on my froyo htc desire and have no problems at all.
Thanks in advance
Im taking it that with no replies that no one is having this issue as described. Any help in relation to this original post would be greatly appreciated.

Ive noticed the same thing. We use html email sigs and out logo will do that. What i did was saved a copy of the logo ( same filename and everything) to my downloads folder. That fixes it for about 70%. Im guessing its an html render issue.
Ive got the same issue with my exchange email. All I see are boxes with blue question marks in the center. It's pretty aggravating that my EVO running 2.2 can display the same emails and images fine but 3.1 can't.
Has anyone tried another email client that you could recommend?

Touch Down works nice but I like the layout of the stock email client more. It bugs me that all apple products are fine in this area but android cant seem to get html email down..
I can't understand how i can have a froyo device and it works perfectly show all images etc as it should and have a honeycomb device that can't.
Just if someone ask's yes i do press show pictures and no it does not do anything. the actual emails grab all images and show them as attachements. I live on my email for work and this is to be honest CRAP effort of an email client for something so simple to not work.
Im asking anyone out there for any suggestions of a fix relating to this issue to help.
Hey guys I'm running into a problem on my Infuse. For my emails that are like a day or more old the body just says "null" however I can still view them on my computer. This is a really bad problem because I do a lot of emailing on the fly. Has anyone else had this problem and been able to fix it? I'm using the stock app, not the gmail one.
On another note, I'm looking at my gmail account on the computer and ever outgoing message seems to show up twice in the threads and the sent folder.
Thanks
Tommy
Hi
I've searched for a solution to this problem and cannot find it. It either seems to work for people or it doesn't. As I understand it since a Gmail update at the end of last year this should work. So why isn't it for me?
The problem is when I receive a calendar invite in my email, on my old Galaxy S3 it would need to open the ICS in Calendar for me to be able to accept it. This was not ideal but it worked and I was never able to improve it. In my new Oneplus, it's even worse - if the invite is from Outlook I just get a blank email, with no ICS let alone yes/no options. From Google Calendar, I get weblinks and it takes me to a browser version of the calendar.
I cannot get my head round this, how can it be that the iPhone app by default has simple yes/no/maybe buttons that work in the email without jumping to any other app, but on Google's own phone it seems to have a problem with such a basic feature?
Please help, driving me mad! :crying:
Cheers
No-one?
OK, so can someone help me out with how this SHOULD work?
Here's what I see in the iOS app with an invite from Outlook:-
View attachment 2957495
And here is what I see in Android:-
View attachment 2957496
If the invite is from gmail, iOS works exactly the same but Android shows up like this, with weblinks:-
View attachment 2957497
Is this the same for everyone? If you see something different can you please post it and help me work out why I see something different? Surely Google's own OS should be able to handle calendar invites at least as well as it's app on iOS?!
Thanks!
Slightly shocked that not one person has replied with simply whether they see the same as me or not. Guess I'll have to go elsewhere

In the past, I had "Invitation Plugin" installed to be able to add the invitations to my calendar. But now, since there is no attachment or .ics or anything, even that doesn't work. I get the same "blank" emails as you. This is very frustrating as my wife and I use invitations for everything. She sends them, and I have to get to a PC to open my Gmail to see (and accept) the invitations. Very frustrating when this used to work.
I hope somebody has some answer/workaround for this.
I found a workaround. There's an app called Cal by any.do. It's just a calendar app, but, it does have an indicator/filter that shows pending invitations and allows you to accept/deny and notifies the meeting chair. This is mildly better than searching the entire calendar trying to find the pending invite.
So, when the email comes in, pop over to Cal and do the needful. Not perfect, but better than where I was before.
Thanks for replying, nice to know I'm not alone in this issue Yeah me and the wife do exactly the same
Yep, Cal seems to provide a workaround of sorts, thanks for sharing it. Seems utterly nuts that Google should make their own solutions work better on a competitive platform to their own. Very very poor
If anyone else has any solutions or comments would love to hear them
Cheers
same problem here
I'm running the latest gmail update (v 5.0) on KitKat and I get the same problem - google calendar invites present a links only that take me to a webpage. on gmail for my iPad get big easy buttons to use. How is it possible that the experience is better on iOS than Android?
Same problem here. Confirmed that it is because the invitation is from Outlook. Why is there no solution? Seems like the bug is on the Android Gmail client.
Still no solution available in June - as far as I can tell - is this some kind of spat with Microsoft?
It's a real PITA whatever it is...not what I expected running the latest software versions available.

I am facing the similar issue. My problem is bigger - I get at least 30-35 outlook exchange invites on my gmail account and my Gmail App shows just the emails (it doesn't show the date and time) which is sad. All the time, I have to check the calendar app, open each invite / meeting requests and select - Yes / No / Maybe from the Calendar. I so wish that the Android Gmail App comes up with a simple feature (just like you have shown for iOS Gmail App.) so that at least we will know that the email which we have received is an actual Outlook Meeting invite and not a standard email. Can somebody please contact Google Android department and raise this issue? I have tried to report this on the official Google App. Gmail forum but no luck on their response so far.
Again, thanks for bringing this up here on XDA.
