I had Fariah's old WM6 and it was causing me some problems.
I upgraded to the new one, but before I did, I backed up my SMS with SMSBackup, and the new firmware doesn't have it.
I tried looking on the ZedSoft website, but it's been taken down.
I just want my text messages back.... any ideas?
Thanks,
Rafster
search for jeyo smsbackup
Hmmm... googled for like 15-20min, can't find a copy...
Help....?
Rafster
Did you look here??
Yes, it tells me I need to get a new version... I'm running the newest Fariah WM6...
It says "Warning! Check Next Version at http://www.zedsoft.net"
Rafster
Have you tried PPC PIMBackup? I'm using it on WM6 and it works like a charm.
That was actually one of the first ones that I tried...
The problem is that for some reason, it can't find the file that I backed up using SMS Backup with the older Faria WM6...
Any ideas?
Rafster
Attached is the version i have. Dont use it anymore, so i don't know if its up to date or not
That worked!!!
THANKS!!!
Thanks everyone for trying to help!!

Hmmm. . . Not sure on that one.
I use both the Spb Backup strictly for a "system only" backup and use PPC PIMBackup for everything else. Takes all of 7 minutes to restore everything (right down to the assigned Contacts' ringtones) after reflashing.
Have you seen this app? smsBackup by ZEDSOFT

just read the new flashing FAQ (and rather good it is too )
so having been prompted to back up my text messages i downloaded the pimbackup software (dotfred) to find that it wont work with vista
can anyone suggest another app to do a backup of my device.
many thanks
PIMBackup is for use on PPC, not on your desktop-computer....
arse, talking about looking like an idiot
i assumed that you ran the exe and then it installed on your phone.
RTFM for me
Hi, I was using the guide here: http://karhoe.net/content/view/21/1/#josc641 to upgrade my phone from WM5 to WM6.1 using Standard ROM from XDA-Developers, made by illi & rickywatt.
before flashing, i transferred a copy of the pim.vol file to my computer. after flashing, I try to transfer it back into the new WM6.1 OS to restore my contact. But after that, when i try to access my contacts, just the title page pops up momentarily for like 1 second and then it's gone.
anyone know how to fix?
thank you

why u not use PimBackup before flashing?
i didn't know such a software existed. excuse my ignorance.. what can i do now?
--> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=269237
Looks like the structur of the pim.vol file changed from WM5 to WM6. I'm afraid you're copy is useless unless you find a way to extract your contacts.
A solution might be to reflash WM5, use your pim.vol-copy to restore the ontatcs & then use another way of backing up your contacts before flashing WM6.

I 've had the same problem and it was solved by doing the following:
1)Open the File Explorer
2)Click Menu--> View Options
3)Tick "Show all files"
I don't know if that's the case but it worked for me.
hi bro, i download the program frm HTC website, i install it on my PC, what is the next step? after installed, i try to back up, an error message prompt out Please Ensure Sprite Backup is install in your device, can anyone guide me?
i try to run the setup file in my phone but it cant install
thanks.
Wish I could remember exactly how to set it up, but I can't. What I do remember clearly though is that you have to run it from your PC the first time - it can't be run from the device initially. Did you get the app' onto the device via Activesync? I seem to remember it working through Activesync the first time, but like you I failed to start it on the device, so I'd give up trying that way - it's a waste of time. Persevere with it like I did, and you'll get there!
Thanks. can download and backup already.
I've always used SKtools (only) to remove installed apps with the previous windows phones. Is it adviced to use SKtools with HD2 too?

Hello,
what experience do you have with SKTools-backup after a
HardReset or ROM-Update?
I updated my O2-ROM from 1.48 to 1.72. Then I tried a backup
with SKTools, but my HD2 stopped working.
I could not switch it off, so I had problems to do a new HardReset.
After I managed this, I tried to backup the pim data.
But no success. Now I'm unconfused about the backup tool.
I understand that a ROM-update is a complex thing
(also 1.48 is not much different from 1.72).
But I expect as a minimum that I can backup the pim data.
My final question is, can I expect from SKTools a (more or less)
full backup after a HardReset.
Thanks

You are doing backup, right? Why should there be any problem?
OK, I never do any backup after a hard reset. I have done uncountably many SKTool backups, and have done a handful of SKTools restore after hard resets (fortunately not on HD2).
Why do you need to do a backup after a hard reset? If you want to go back to that status, you just hard reset again.
Move installed software.. not all possible??
Can anybody of you tell me, how I could move progs from internal storage to storage card, that do not have this option in SKTools?
Mostly this is regarding games that do not have the option to chose where to install to. They only have the option to deeply check intallation.
Is there another way to move istalled software/games than with SKTools??
Thanks for any Hint.
No help for me..?
FWIW, eshd's scenario happens to my Imagio. I recently got a refurbished unit from Verizon to replace my old Imagio (broken send key), and I used the complete backup and restore process with SKTools. Both the backup file and SKTools were on my storage card, so I just swapped the card into the new unit.
After programming the new unit over the air, I started SKTools and pointed it to the 160MB full backup. The unit automatically soft reset itself, and SKTools appeared to begin the restore process (progress screen with countdown of files transferred).
Once all the files transferred, however, the unit soft reset again and hung on the HTC logo screen. I tried this twice, and both times got the same result (I waited 20 minutes on the second time). I plan to try Sprite Backup next, as I just do not relish the idea of manually restoring all my settings to the new phone!

No, or (perhaps) not always!
After a HardReset I had no success with a backup with SKTools.

Hi, I just found this link download for Sprite backup. Not sure if it is a trial version or not, but it is working fine with no restictions with my HD2. Definately isn't Warez
Link is
http://handheld.softpedia.com/progDownload/Sprite-Backup-Download-58811.html
I have backed up and restored no problems, but I am wondering if anyone else has used this to restore after changing to a new ROM?
I dont want to test it in case anything goes wrong
Thanks
Edit************
Definately a trial verison for 10 days, but still good if you want to check out the software.
The link you posted is a trial version - it clearly says so on the site linked to.
I haven't used Sprite on my HD2 but used it on my TyTN II and used it to restore having upgraded the ROM from WM6 to 6.1 without a problem. However, don't take that as a guarantee that it will work on an HD2!
May you be warned.

I am trying out SPB Backup. Hopefully, it will rescue my hardwork the next time my HD2 becomes uncontrollable.
You mean your HD2 didn't come with Sprite backup? HK versions is bundled with a full version.
Sprite Backup
Yes, I have a Malaysian device that also comes with it. Write now, after a hard reset I can't find it anymore to reinstall it. Can you help me?
thanks for the link
I tried Sprite, then bought the retail version. It does exactly what it says on the tin.
What it CAN'T do is a restore if a new rom is put on the HD2 - just won't work!
Having said that, I like it, and perform a backup frequently.
I never could get it to restore properly either
after flashing even a new ROM update. It says you can do it. They also stopped their forum and said they were just going to handle questions through support. Two emails to support never answered.
If you restore from SD card it is quick. You need to re-set your restore options each and every time. If you restore from PC you have to re-enter all your software registration data. Kind of a pain.
Restore options should be delete all files and replace not merge.
If I had it to do over again I think would try SPB Backup. Only heard good things about it.
