Getting a dump rom off the mini sd card. - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario ROM Development

I have a dump of wim6 that I want to transfer off the transflash card. I have been doing a lot of reading around the entire forum regarding this. Most people say once you backup using the r2sd method your windows machine will no longer read the sd card. True, sorta. There's a hex editor out there that can read the disk and this is the method you can use to extract content. The information I have found is vague and sparce but it does seem possible. Does anyone have any experience with this and can you guide me?
Thanks much!

URGENT HELP RE EXE ROM & 4gig SD Card

HI.. m Oicnev.. this is regarding extracting the files from the EXE rom.. have download both the 131 and 132 (a later version, as told), but couldn't extract the files.
Have tried using winrar and winzip, but to no avail.. tried right-clicking, but no option to extract, only add to archive.. tried accessing from within winrar. there was the option to extract, but it always returned, no archive file/s in there..
tried running the EXE rom, it ran, posted extracting files, and the showed its dialog box.. then, as told, it returned an error in the end..
i used netants as downloader..
is there anything i further need to do to be able to extract the files? Is there any other way i could get the files? PLS HELP!!!
ALSO, i bought a 4gig SD Card.. the problem is my xda mini couldn't access it, unless, as it prompted, it formats it "to make it readable." This i did, and yes it became readable, but it got converted to 2.1gig. i returned it to the seller, had it replaced, thank goodness the seller was kind.. but now, i don't know what to do.. the SD Card is accessible as 4gig from my card reader though... will the rom upgrade fix the problem? Is there any other software that i need to have? PLS HELP!!!
MANY MANY THANKS, in advance!
You used one of the ROMs from this site's FTP right? I've tried several and all of them extract just fine! If you're looking for the latest ROM that is used widely without any problems, 1.13 T-Mobile ROM, that can be found here.
From there you can use kta's + ampda's guides or my own guide to run you through the upgrade process!
Thanks... only that... Stil problem - 4gig SD Card vs. Mini
Ey, know what, i finally solved my puzzle re EXE ROM.. have managed to extract the files... i tried running the EXE file, clicking next til the last one before it would start to upgrade, but without clicking it (i read from one of your guides).. then i searched for the files in my hidden windows temp folders... found them.. and ran the upgrade.. It went perfectly, i liked it..
But my BIG other problem remained.. still, my XDA Mini couldn't access my 4gig SD Card, despite all the upgrades.. it was still prompting me to format it (beccause it couldn't read it), which must not be done, coz it will convert it to 2.1gig.
I read in one forum to try partitioning the SD Card into two 2gig partitions.. i found it sound.. i followed the instructions.. i ran "compmgmt.msc" from my pc through "start/run".. I was trying to make the first step of deleting the partition through 'Disk Management', but to no avail.. Yes, there was a 'delete partition' option shown in the menus, but unlit; meaning option not available.. So, i was already stalled, couldn't proceed anymore...
Anyone with more options out there? please help...
Many thanks
Your device formatted the memory card as FAT16. This is only supported up to 2 GB:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File_Allocation_Table#Final_FAT16
Just format the memory card with your card reader as "FAT32" and you will have 4 GB capacity.
RE FAT16
Hi... i checked through my card reader.. its in fat32 format...
@esackbauer,
are you sure the fat16 fat32 topic is the answer to the problems with 4 gig cards? to mee, it doesnt seem so!

Can't make goldcard Please Help

Hello,
ive tried multiple guides with creating a goldcard but no luck at all
ive tried
showthread.php?t=547557
but it didn't work for me becuase everytime i created it and i save it in HxD Hex Editor it just asks me to Format the SD i tried this with the 2GB card that came with my G1 also, an 8Gb Transcend and a 4gb Kingston, but not of them get the job done as being a goldcard.
i did this in my laptop but i get the same when its still in my phone, i copy the code paste it into HxD Save it and... then it pops up Format when i try to open it, or the phone says its a Bad SD and needs to Format it..
this id my 2gb card:
03534453553032478041273ed5008b04
reversed
000850ed731204782403533545343500
(from hexrev.soaa.me/hexrev.php?)
when i manually reverse it i get:
008b00d53e2741804732305553445303

Help Rooting my G1!!!

I am a novice and I am trying to Root my G1 to upgrade to android 2.0 or 2.1. I followed youtube vids and blogs/sites thoroughly and I am on a MAC and do not have a SD card reader. Can someone give me VERY simple and specific step by step instructions how to do this from the 1.6 firmware on? I have no clue how find out if I need to change the FAT to FAT 32? This 1.6 is BORING AND LAME! HELP!!
thanks
I'm a n00b too and I just followed the written (not the video) directions and was able to load CM5 with no issues. The directions were over at theunlockr dot com (sorry I'm not allowed to post links yet). Just make sure to do a full format via Fat32 (not quick) to the SD card before putting the original .nbh on the card.
Thanks! I checked the unlockr.com as well but I came across a site that walked me through every step! Fonefrenzy.com

[Q] Partitioning SD Card GT550

Hi, I've been trawling through the XDA archives and found noting that can directly help me so;
What I'm trying to do is move some [not all] apps to my SD card. My phone is GT540 running 2.1.
Ideally I would prefer to move the apps to the card on the device without rooting [I am able to root though] but as far as I know that's not possible, so I found Links2SD on market which has pretty good reviews but requires me to have a second partition on the card.
How would I go about doing this. If anyone has any better way of moving apps please tell, either way thank you in advance.

Please explain like I'm 5 (years old) how to use Magisk to use an SD card to hold obb

Hello, I am having a bit of a problem with .obb files and my internal storage, and any help you can give would be appreciated.
To begin, I must say that I am pretty much a complete novice when it comes to rooting, modding, and anything else having to do with nay unconventional use to android tablets, although I am an experienced pirate and know how to install modded games/apps and where to find them.
That being said, I did download adb, and I figured out how to use it to make a 128gb micro sd card function as internal memory - and as my only current tablet is an ASUS Z300M with only 16gb of space (and most of that taken up with bloatware), I am happy about that. But I have run into a problem - while I can install or move apps or games to the Micro SD card, the .obb files remain in the main hard drive of the tablet. I like to download lots of games, so this is killing me.
I have heard that I can use Magisk to move the .obb files into the Micro SD card and have the tablet actually recognize them there, but honestly, I have absolutely no clue how to do that, and all the guides I have seen on the web just send me down rabbit holes talking about twrp, flashing, fastboot, and other things that make it seem like anything I try will wipe my tablet completely or direct me to a site where they want me to take a survey and steal my credit card information. Can some kind person please walk me through the steps on how to use Magisk (or anything else) to get my ASUS Zenpad Z300M to recognize obb files on my micro sd card so I don't run out of space multiple times a day anymore?
Thank you n advance for any help you can give.

That isn't how it works here, we don't lead anyone by the hand step by step and we don't spoonfeed anyone. You do your own searching and reading and then ask questions about what you don't understand.
First, as the guides instruct, you can flash TWRP custom recovery onto the device and then flash Magisk to root the device using TWRP, then make your modifications to your .obb files.
Or, you can flash a modified boot.img and then install Magisk to root the device, then modify your .obb files.
Choose the method you are most comfortable with, research how the method works and then ask questions about the parts of that method that you don't understand.
