MP3 Ringtones - how set it up?

Does somebody know how to force Leo to play ringtones with mp3 extension? I already added some mp3's to windows/rings folder, but system doesn't see them.
its probably easiest using the MP3 Trimmer on the phone under the "MULTIMEDIA" folder...
Put the mp3 file in the "My Documents"-folder in the root of the mobile, not on the SD-card.
That is to say:
root/My Documents/mp3file.mp3
This mp3-file will work for both ringtone and sms-tone.
Hiya!
I am very curious if my Random Ringtone app works on the Leo.
If anybody wants to try it that would be appreciated.
If it doesnt work I would of course make it work.
Thanks in advance...

Meery Nwe yaer!
I have a folder called "my ringtones" in my documents on the device (not the sd card). Try adding some mp3's there! Works for me! You also wanna trim ur mp3's using a PC app couse the mp3 trimmer in WM sux bigtime!
Big thanks for You buddies for Your help but unfortunatelly - none works on my device. I already try to put my mp3 ringtone to My Documents and My Ringtones (later) folder as well, but system still doesn't see my mp3's . What's going on?. It can't be so difficult! Tell me - how do You set up Your ringtone on Your device? Settings/Sound&Display/Ringtone (or Notification Sounds)?
OK. After Soft Reset UMISS'es method works! Own ringtones are visible for system in My Documents folder. Thank You pal.

Hoi Gandalf
you should put the MP3 in : Computer\ HD2 T8585\\\My Documents\My Ringtones
Alarm sounds: are stored in the Windows dir
greetz
mp3 as ringtone
this setup is very simple:
take the built-in file explorer and go to mp3 folder. choose your favourite mp3 file, long tap on it and then "set as ringtone"
it works for me with my hd2
Ringtone
Pegasus
Indeed works like a charm. But then follows the second question:
How to make a MP3 for the other systems sound like Remainders, alarms, incoming email, incoming voice mail?
I've tried to put the files anywhere in the My documents folders, but no joy
someone? Please?
gr fred

i searched for the current notification sounds and found them in the Windows Folder.
so i copied my mp3 into Folder \Windows
now i can chande the notification sounds into my mp3

Hello
Do NOT waste valuable space from main memory for the mp3 ringtone which placed in My documents or /Windows.
Place the mp3 files in the root of the SD card without folders. It will show up and works great and You do not have to worry about flashing any custom rom. The files in the SD card stays.
Good luck
Happy new year

Pegasus,
Sometimes life is so simple. Thank you very much, your solution is the ONE. Works wonders.
reg. fred
for ringtones, u can have the mp3 in anywhere phone or SD memory, directly choose the file to be used as a ringtone in the file explorer...
for other notifications or messages or alarms, convert the file to wav and copy it to /windows folder ...then go to settings->menu->all settings->sounds and notifications n select the tune for the specific event.
HTC HD2 or iphone?
Hello guys. i was getting ready to buy an HD2 but now i see that simple things like diffirent mp3 for calls or for a caller or sms, alarms etc. are configured so hard, along with other hard questions like the difficult customizing of the hd2 have started make me thing again of the iphone. You people that alredy have an HD2 what do you suggest me? i do really care much about the easyness of synchronizing and the ability to synchro with other progs other than outlook. What would you suggest me?
Keep in mind,
if u use this Ringtone App u can change your ring directory as well as have multiple rings for each alarm.
thanks,
Keith
I used Mp3 trimmer to cut a song short. Now I cant seem to remove it from the device as I cant find it anyway. But it is still shoing up on the ring tone menu.

I dont seem to have a Windows folder on my HD2, but when trying to make the folder I was told I cant as it alreayd exists. Tryping the address into the bar tells me that it doesnt exist.... So I assume Windows Mobile Device Center is crap.

There's nothing difficult in changing the sounds. As you can see, there are many ways how to do that and they all work (for most users). There is nothing more simple then just copy your desired ringtones to windows folder and then just set it up.
Buying an iphone would be a terrible mistake, it's an old and inferior device compared to HD2.
MP3 Ringtone on SD Card
It's not recommended to save MP3 or any other big files into device memory. copy your MP3 files only to your "Storage Card".
It's so easy, just copy your MP3 song(s) to "\Storage Card\My Documents\My Ringtones" folder (and if you don't have "My Ringtones" folder just create one).

How to delete some music files form Music Library ?

My HD2 just searches all storage card for any music files and puts them into library.
Some of them are ringtones and other useless stuff. So I don't want them to be in my music library
Is there a way to choose folder where audio manager should search ?
I'm not sure why your library is showing ringtones. None of mine ever end up in the library.
I had Fring and Talkonout installed on storage card. I both have mp3 files for ringtones.
I deleted them both from storage card and files disappeared but that is not a solution :/
Is there a way to choose music folder ?

i got the same problem. all music files show in my music library when i pressed update library. +1 on how to choose music folder and disregard the rest.
mine does the same. My HD2 came preinstalled with Who Wants to Be a Millionaire game. The manila audio manager displays all the acc music files that came preinstalled... what a pain....
you can make HTC album to ignore some folders. Do the following:
Go to HKLM/Software/HTC/HTCAlbum/Ignore
and add a sting value with a name (choose whatever you want) and string (here you put the location of a particular folder)
So if I want HTC album to ignore My Music folder on my Storage card, I will add a new string value: name-My Music and string-\Storage Card\My Music
hope this helps
ah forgot to mention soft reset after that
Am I doing something wrong? I did a soft reset and still no exclusion from the folders I specified here:
Ignore not Ignored
Oh, should I rename that folder to ignore? Because my HD2's registry came like that with that folder called ingnored.
Maybe the TMOUS HD2 has the d added? Not sure why they would have done that.

Tap Library - Playlist - New playlist (for example playlist 1)
Tap playlist 1 - Add songs - All songs (on bottom of screen) - select all songs you need - Done
Tap 1 song in playlist 1. Music player will play that song and library will update to playlist 1.
I'm sorry about my English, I'm Vietnamese.
Good English! I understood great.
But, I did what you said about adding a playlist & adding songs and it seemed to work great, but then later I went back to play the playlist & nothing played at all. It is strange that this default player doesn't work anymore since I tried the playlist trick. In fact, when I try to find anything to play, the "Music Tab" just hangs and never populates with MP3s at all. I think I bricked my Music Tab of my HD2 (I don't know if I said that right but it sounded good ). Well, at least I didn't brick the entire phone! Now I am forced to use Windows Media Player for all music, which I don't mind at all, but it was nice to use the other player while on the road.
I may end up trying what they say here:

Well a lot of people noticed a problem with HTC Music tab. Library shows not only music but ring tones and other sounds. One way to stop it is to hide offending folders. One problem with that is if you hide for example ring tone folder you can not select your ring tones as they are hidden as well.
What I did is as goes. I have music on SD card, also there is tomtom, copilot and some other apps. I have hidden all of the apps that might have sounds so they do not show up in library. Obviously left folder with music not hidden.
That will take care of SD card.
For My Device sounds do steps below:
1. Start from removing your card and then going to music tab so it rescans and states no music found. (Skip to step 3 if you are starting from clean rom)
2. Go to registry editor of your choice and navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\AudioManager_Eng (for german it will be AudioManager_Ger)\Information
Delete all items in that folder. You will not be able to delete Information it self.
If you are on clean rom you will not even have that folder it is created 1st time when music tab finds music.
3. Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\Config
In there change:
"device_scan_path_path" from what ever there is to \Windows
"device_scan_path_path_0" from what ever there is to \Windows
"ring_tone_path" from what ever there is to \Windows
What this will do is exclude all files in windows folder. If you have any files in my documents they will show up. I assume if you just put "\" instead of "\Windows" it will exclude entire my device but did not test it.
4. Soft reset, insert your SD card and enjoy.

I didn't want to do it that way, but it looks as if I may have to. I liked the first way better (...HTCAlbum > Ignored...)
(I removed "Music" from my Home Screen Tabs as there was no reason to have it there anymore)
I just create playlist and do nothing else. I needn't edit registry.

need help mp3 ring tones ?

any one know how to ...
set the mp3 on the memory card to the ringtones ???
Not setting it to the SD card, but just copy the mp3 file you want as a ringtone to your phone's My Documents/My Ringtones folder and it will show up in available Ringtones.

I have saved my mp3 music in my storage device/ then I was able to set my ring tones and other tones from that.
I had to convert to WAV and put it in the root of my sd card, then it showed up in the list of available ringtones.
Make SD card/My Ringtones folder, copy *.mp3 to SD card/My Ringtones folder and set ringtone, but SMS ringtone, copy *.mp3 to windows\ folder and set ringtone for SMS.
I always copy my mp3 ringtone on \My Device\ApplicationData\Sounds folder.
The mp3 will automatically added to your ringtone list.
Thats very weird how there are so many different ways to do it but with mine i didnt have to create new folders or convert the songs.

.nomedia, audio, and ICS

Hoping someone can help me get my head around using these .nomedia files for audio in ICS - I have a bunch of ringtones etc. sitting in the media/audio/.. folders with a .nomedia file at the top level so these audio files don't show up in my music player, but by having that file there, I can no longer set them as my ringtone/alarm/notification. How can I have audio files show up in the sound choosers, but not the music app?

I'm not sure if this will be applicable to you. In my phone, all the ringtones are stored in the folder /sdcard/ringtones and these ringtones won't get read by the music app that I'm using, which my case is Google's Music Player. My songs are all stored in the folder /sdcard/music, the songs in it show up in the music app.
Thanks wlteh, I'll give that a try and see how it goes I'd read somewhere that additional ringtones were supposed to go in the /sdcard/media/audio/.. folder, but maybe that changed with ICS?
Do you have separate folders for ringtones, alarms, notifications in the /sdcard/ringtones folder?

Mp3 ringtones issue [Solved]

Ciao,
i've found and solve a ringtones issue on tuttoandroid.net forum, so i want to share this with anyone;
NOTE: despite the old nexus4, the nexus 5 does not like mp3 files; copy in the folder RINGTONES/ALARMS only .ogg files if you don't want to lose 1/10 call!
You can check this issue by copying an mp3 file and trying to tapping continously on preview in the list of ringtones to ear: mp3 will fail preview sometimes, despite .ogg files won't ever fail.
Try to convert your mp3 --> .ogg online of by some audio-converter
I hope give you help with anyone Bye Bye
