Realy great kitchen!!
congratulations my friend, you did!

You did - it! And you can be proud of it.
I just used it for cooking a XDA (terra) wing rom.
It was equal taking .nb or .bin file = it worked with every rom. Easily to delete things - to add packages.
BUT i made a mistake my own.
So you should now what you are doing.
lol

Can somebody please post a mirror for this?
Thanks!

Thanks much

Great job! This looks really nice and professional with the graphics and all... So since you mentioned Tadzio, does this do the Rom Packing like edhaas' rom packer kitchen does? You should also look at including the squeeze utility edhaas brought over so people can easily use that.
I'll download and play with this later (I'm taking a break after releasing 1.7 of my rom... I need to take a break for a bit).

Been waiting on this for a while now.....I knew you would put something out like this.
Will play with tonight, these are the last days of my MDA.

Nice, really nice...
Do you think i can use with my Hermes too?
Thanks for your work, man

jcespi2005, i've tried it but as this tool only expects a .nbf file instead of the hermes .nbh file, I've had to skip the firsts steps of the tutorial making the Dump folder manually & outside "Core Pro Kitchen" using NBHExtract, NBSplit, ImgfsFromNb & ImgfsToDump and in such a manner it haven't worked for me because i've got lost when trying to put missed files where bepe's package tool expected put them. I haven't could do that becasue i have not those missed files.
BTW, you, jcespi2005, do you know how to put files from a cab in a rom myself?
maybe using the tool in this package called "InitFlashFiles Generator" would do the job but as there is not a tutorial yet, i don't know how to get success on it.
After some months reading xda-devs i still haven't found the required & datailed steps needed to put files to a rom and to delete files from a rom to custom cook a rom for me. I always get lost using the bunch of tools found in this forum. Venga una ayudita a un paisano por favor...

Thanks goes to anichillus as I took a lot of inspiration from his great Hypercore Kitchen and to frauhottelmann for contributing on this kitchen with his oem packages and advices. And also to the geniuses here on xda dev who created all those wonderfull tools!
The kitchen is based on HTC_Vox_ARA_1.27.415.4_4.1.13.47_02.98.90.
Installation : The kitchen must be installed in \Vox Kitchen on the systemdrive (C:\Vox Kitchen for most of you) to work.
Organisation of the kitchen in 3 parts : Extract, Edit and Build
Extract : if you would like to use another base rom than the Ara one. But this part isn’t really developed yet…
Edit : to edit Registry (default.hv and user.hv), to create a splashscreen and also many tools for advanced rom cooking
Build : the final step. Also includes G’Reloc.
Using the kitchen :
Check out the WIKI
started by frauhottelmann. Don't hesitate to contribute, that's what wikis are for!
Reminder : Don't forget to flash your USPL before flashing any cooked rom !!! See here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=330909
It would be really good if someone with the appropiate skills could develop this... There is a huge gap for Vox ROMS
what is the process of removing apps from the rom.. for example if I want to remove the office 6.0 and have office 6.1 by default..
You should delete the Office folders in \SYS and create an OEM package (if there isn't already one available for office 6.1, I don't know...)you will copy in the \OEM folder. You can learn how to do that here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1374154&postcount=138
This thread applies to the Hypercore kitchen though but the process is the same.
Keep in mind everything won't probably work the first time and that cooking roms is very time consuming!
which files do i need to edit/ remove so as to remove any traces of the arabic language settings. im trying to build an eng (us) rom but i have come up to a snag.
my t9 defaults to arabic and the keyboard isnt responding
the arabic cab came up after the initial load
much thanks
First of all you can delete smartarabiser.cab somewhere in the \OEM folder. You can also delete the T9 arabic dll files which you should find easily in \OEM\OEMAPPS folder.
Then there is going to be some registry editing!
You should know that the registry keys I will give can be repeated through several .rgu files and also in default.hv and user.hv. So don't forget to look for all the instances of these keys. You can find them using a search program with the ability to search text inside files. For example I used SuperFinder for my rom cooking needs. And always search in OEM and SYS folders. Not only in SYS.
Here is the list of the registry keys you will have to find and how to edit them.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Tegic\eT9]
-Edit "DefaultLanguage"=dword:0000010
This is the default language use for T9. Change the dword value to 00000109 for english if I remember correctly !
-Edit "AvailableLanguages"
These are the available languages for T9. The order is also the order they will display in the t9 language selection menu. Remove 0801 to get rid of the arabic option.
Ok that should do it. I hope I haven't forgotten any.. And sorry if it is not very clear, I wrote this fast.
Happy cooking!
Maybe I should release a version of this kitchen with arabic language already removed. Maybe you could release the kitchen once you made this modification and tested it? Many thanks if you do this as I don't have time for it myself right now.
I really hope we will get more people interested in cooking rom for our devices.
It's so possible to change the time for the longpress on the keyboard ???
if i want some chr like ; : / ( ) ... you musst press first Fn ... or hold the key a while ... and this while is realy long -.- ... like 500ms or something ... an i want so set this to 200ms ... or more less ... to write faster
thanks,
i gave that a try and some how i have lost the ability to type anything on the keyboard.
anyway that you could zip up your rgu and hv's from your french rom, i could get a test rom going after i understand the changes in your rom and the ara one
Here you go
There is also something that I forgot to mention wich is sometimes the keys are even repeated in the same file !
I don't really know why they are repeated and if it would be safe to delete those copies..
here are the changes i made to your kitchen.
if anyone is looking for the acutal changes i have left ; as a comment to the line that i have added the change to make this kitchen for north america
i have also found the provxml that will set the time zone as making the timezone changes in the rgu was very futile, well maybe excecpt finding the one for automatic time/ timezone updates. i have also included reg.chm if anyone wants to take a look at the timezone reference numbers, mind you it was pre2007 changes
if someone could oem'ize the apps in the kitchen so as to make fully customizable please do so for the greater good, lol
all creds go to Dr Gonzo for his mighty effort in bringing this kitchen to the masses, all i did was hack it for north america
so enjoy, and merry xmas
hey so this isnt probably the best response, i just got my vox and entered the world of hacking . modding a phone is new to me (flashed many other devices) so can someone real quickly tell me what flashing with something like 'the kitchen' rom allows us to do?
I don't really know if I undrstood your question but the kitchen is not actually a rom. It is a term used here on xda dev to describe an organised set of tools to modify an preexisting rom. The kitchen is where you "cook" roms. And users of the kitchens are called "cooks"
oh ok, that makes sense! now flashing a rom, like the ARA rom, will that enhance the performance of the phone and make the interface also look better? just curious to what 'roms' provide the user. Also, what is the most preferred rom for the Vox at the moment? thanks again for your quick reply, appreciate it
Flashing an official rom like the Ara one won't change your interface. It made my phone faster though

oh ok, but what about flashing using your rom, will it make it run faster (cause i love your interface). my phones never been flashed, could you direct me on how i'd go about getting it flashed? do i need a storage card, cause right now i dont have one. thanks again
Great new kitchen !
Easier to use and understand.
so do i need a storage device inorder to flash it? has anyone written a tutorial on it yet? what are the basic steps i have to do, also read about backing up my original rom, i would like to do this too incase i brick it, lol. thanks for all your help guys
No need for a storage card, just an activesync connection
I can not help you to backup your existing rom as I never did it. hope others will e able to explain this to you.
However if you've never flashed a rom I don't recommand you to start cooking already. If you want to try my rom however you should have asked your question in this thread. I'm currently adding a very quick guide on how to install the rom. You will find it at the end of my first post.
"Download Vox Kitchen" link is dead or it's me ?
yes it's dead I wanted to take it down before improving it, I restarted from scratch to make something cleaner. Uploading it now

[03-04-2008] Slim 19199 WM 6.1 Rom

This is basically a clone of Merlin reloaded's slim wm 6.1 however the build has been upgraded from 19716 to 19199. The files were ported from the hermes build and I have verified that internet sharing DOES work on this build unlike build 19716. This build does not contain Merlin's font. The SYS portion is vanilla. The oem portion contains some basic apps such as camera, wm5torage etc.
Nothing has been done to prevent you from dumping this rom and using it as a base. On the contrary I ENCOURAGE you to and will also be including the Slim_19199_Cooking_Kit.zip which contains the ROM, SYS and OEM folders used to help with this.
Application List:
* TodayAgenda
* wm5torage
* HTC Album
* HTC Camera
* Total Commander CE
* BT Explorer
* WiFiFoFum
* Disabled Customer Feedback
* Standard Games
* Office 2007
* Touch Dialer
* Touch Duo Commmgr
* Alt-Tab + Smartskey
* DotFred TaskMgr
* PocketXPDF
* NetworkWizard
* HTC AudioManager
* Btcrawler
* Minimal footprint!
* WLAN G-Mode enabled!
* Touch Scroll only
* Arcsoft MMS
OS only! No EXTROM/IPL/SPL included! This rom does NOT include splash screens 1 and 2 so whatever you are currently using will remain showing.

Update (03/07/08) To those interested in "Activesync over Bluetooth" I am attached a replacement SYS\Bluetooth folder you can recook into the rom which uses a dll from another rom and should enable this functionality. Let me know if it does or does not work for you since I don't use this feature.
For those who don't want to recook you can replace the "bthasplugin.dll" from this package in the \Windows dir and reboot the phone. This has been confirmed to work by user pirlone.
Donations NOT required but always appreciated.
downloading now - thanks for this
Yay.
Thank you for making this post, i just released my rom on the older build and i was having issues with MMS and camera. It looks like i will be porting my rom from the old to the new. Thanks.
wow...
have you tried the bluetooth? that was my problem in merlins rom... have you fixed that? or its there a fix for that? have you already applied the weak for sms?
Thanks for the builld
Everything is working with this rom.
bravo, famewolf , bravo.
Sounds and looks very good.
checking it out now...
fwiw, this is how releases should be... thanks for the format and "community friendly" approach. vanilla-ish, cookable, credits, good links... although from what i've seen famewolf has always been like this many thanks
Many thanks for this, I have been waiting for a 'cookable' version of this base ROM
I think I have hit a problem extracting the XIP with this though - it might be me, but when I attempt to extract the XIP is complains about a missing file
Code:
xip2.bin: No such file or directory
I am using the HyperCore tools which I have used before with other ROMs and I don't remember seeing this error previously
It's possible it's just me making a mistake as it is late here and I really should be in bed. I have tried it a few times now and I get the same error each time, I have even re-installed the HyperCore tools...
Any idea what I am doing wrong?
Thanks
Andy

Hypercore does not correctly extract the XIP for wm 6.1 roms. You can either follow the instructions in the hypercore thread on how to use msflshtool to do it or download the cooking kit which includes the XIP already in the ROM folder for you.

Thank you, I knew it was something I was doing wrong.... I must admit I haven't been following the HyperCore thread too closely so I must have missed the posts about it not being able extract the XIP correctly.
Can I still use HyperCore to re-build the ROM or do I need another kitchen?
Does anyone know if VoIP works with this ROM? This is one of the reasons I have stayed with ItsRight's TNT 1933 ROM (or at least my re-cooking of his base ROM) as I use VoIP (it isn't fantastic but it is usable). Is there a package I can add in for VoIP when I re-cook this?
Thanks
Andy

I have only one visual issue, that pops up on some roms - but not on others. There is a white triangle on the top bar beside the "E" icon that does not go away. It just sits there - does not activate anything ??
I've had similar issue with Merlin Rom - and others.
Does not effect any operational functions - just do not know what it is - or what it is supposed to do.
Very nice rom - thank you
Have a good one

I built the rom using hypercore.... download the cooking kit....unzip the SYS, OEM and ROM folders to your BUILD directory after removing old ones........from there you should be able to do a normal hypercore build. As for voip...youll just have to find or build the oem packages and add to oem folder.

Thanks again. I noticed in the Hermes forums that Faria has released a ROM based on 5.2.19199 and he lists VoIP as being included. Does anyone know if the VoIP components he used are updated? Will they work on the Wizard or do I need to extract the older drivers/files that have been floating around for a while?
Sorry if this is slightly off topic...
Thanks

If the "white triangle" is sitting above the strength meter lines it's an antenna...you can disable it with a regedit I think. It may indicate roaming.

Since I don't use VOIP all I can suggest is that you try it. OEM packages should work almost everywhere. To my knowledge VOIP is NOT part of the SYS Hermes build which means he added it.

This may be out of place to ask here but I'm going to anyway.
I currently using merlins rom on my wizard and I am downloading this rom to flash. Do I need to flash my rom back to an original rom before flashing to this rom? Do I directly flash to this one? Or do I go all the way back to square one including downgrading my IPL/SPL and GSM? Thanks for any help and sorry if it is out of place to ask here.

It's always a good idea to flash a provider rom first to wipe out any "extended rom corruption" which can cause the battery to drain faster due to the phone trying to read an area over and over. When in doubt browse the "how to flash a rom" sticky at the top of the forum which has alot of good information.

No, it's not on top of the strength meter.
If I start from the right side of the screen, there is the the time, then the volume icon, then the stength meter, the either the "E" or "G" icon depending on network, and then a white triangle..........continue over - then you have the start and windows icons on the far left side.
The triangle is the same height as the E/G square icon and sits right beside it, between it and the start menu .
No biggie, like I said - does not effect anything at all.
I do not have any screen capture software - but there is a picture in this post that shows the area I am talking about.
It shows the E icon with the arrows - well, the white triangle on my screen is just left of that.

Great!!!Thank you,Nitro..
Hi Nitro
THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!
Rolling up my sleeves...
God bless you!
THANK YOU!!
Edit: For v5.2.19202 or any other version, can I simply replace the original ROM with my intended version?
Thanks
Please guys, provide other mirrors. Rapidshare is very very slow (5kb/s).
Many thanks for that!
One question... I would like to add my custom apps to the kitchen. I understand I have to place the files to C:\Torn\WORK\OEM\App_name, put registry entries to RGU file, and make appropriate initflashfiles.txt and option.xml files.
But how to choose names for DSM and RGU files? Does it only have to be uniqe?

You need to replace the system files too (SYS directory) with the newer ones. The original ROM is used only for the XIP (kernel). I've never had the free time to use this kitchen with the new OS, btw.

There is a utility from Microsoft for generating those names. But I simply use a random name and it works.

Thanks Nitro. I will play around with it. Probably I can get the system files using Molskis kitchen and move them over. Will keep you posted. Edit: too risky... dare not risk my old faithful
I did some cooking test. However, apps that were omitted were in the nk.nbf eg. Celetask and a few others. Is anything wrong or my doing is incorrect?
Thanks again.
Edit: Since NiTro isnt full time with us here, hopefully someone can followup on this and upgrade it for WM6.1. OR someone with the expertise can give a guide on which WM6.1 files to populate which folders in the kitchen remembering to keep NiTro's fantastic tweaks! That would be very helpful. (I use Molskis' kitchen to view contents of the nk.nbf, so that wont be too difficult, for me I think, to proceed.)
@SysAdmin please make this sticky.
Thanks

I have not come across a stable cooked WM6.1 ROM yet. I tried one which can be found elsewhere in this Tornado forum was quite buggy. (Probably that's the ROM I was commenting on that you are now referring to. There was talk of extracting from the emulator. So, if someone could do a successful extraction then it could be used to populate Nitro's kitchen which used v5.2.1711 instead of v5.2.19202.
@NiTroGenious...Can you post screenshots please...and what's the difference of this ROM of yours to WM6.1?

thanks, this kitchen is great
i've been surprised to have the windows media player 'fullscreen - problem' with this rom. somewhere in the discussion i understood that this is fixed now. but unfortunately it is not, wmp stays only some seconds in fullscreen. or did i miss something?
another surprise is that wmp does not support youtube streaming by default - well yes that is a microsoft feature. i have tried some fixes/tools posted in this forum but could not get it working.
and i realised that the wmp is very much slower than the old wm5 one. again i'm not sure if this is already known, but i even tried to play around with the processor speed to get some performance out of wmp. is there a fix anywhere?
of course i checked this forum for solutions, but i found no real hint.
so dear nitro, even if something is very good there are allways buggers that will find something to gossip about.
Dear Nitrogenius, how to cook appliacations in this rom?
Today i have successfully extracted the WM6.1 Emulator Rom. I want to Cook a Rom on this base soon

New (broken :D) rom from htc s740

I've played all day with a dump of latest htc smartphone. Some nice little new things. I've been able to build something but I don't have time to finish it and fixing/testing everything.
So if someone feels like finishing the task here are all the files :
OEM, SYS and ROM folders I've done so far.
original OEM and SYS folders from s740
new things that work :
-new skinning for calling screens with new shortcuts, for exple pressing up arrow puts loudspeaker on
-new audomanager with album art
-new htc sliding panels with a weather panel that works wonderfully
-new htc album
-new jbed
-audiobooster
-new arcsoft mms manager
-sms and mms are now stored under the same one account
-I made the rom UC capable
.....
Things that don't work :
-sliding keyboard : some letters don't work (seems to be only the keys that can be used to type numbers)
-connection setup doesn't work. (so I haven't been able to test if mms work)
-scrolling is slower than in my 19700 rom. I guess it's because some chinese guys hacked (I found the rom on a chinese forum) a file to make it better but I can't locate it. This was a nice feature that I miss.
-I couldn't get usb to pc to work (a new feature in s740 rom). but since we have WM5torage it doesn't really matter
-probably other things !
Good luck to the one who will build on this !
Sorry I typed all this in a hurry maybe some things don't make sense.
the files are not finished uploading yet. Give it 30mins or so..
Htc S740
Wow ,that are great news because I love the Style and Homescreen of the S740 .So please ,could you make a cab for the homescreen .
Thanks
(and sorry for my bad english)
Thanks Dr. Gonzo.
I'm playing with this new SYS too, it works well (except Bluetooth, i'm searching a solution).
Bye.
I wish you finish this project. Your 19700 Rom is awesome
Could we have a cab of the homescreen please?
Roland

thank you for your resouce. Dr. Martin

Nop, Hikey search for the new xip, included in s740 rom, not in Windows.nb from Dr Gonzo.
XIP is not present in *.raw from Erofich.
Bye.
Nice feeling. After many days everybody seems to be active once again. All stalwarts together for a single cause. We can expect some great results soon.
Thanks to everybody.
Once thereany Is a Flashable ROM out I will gladly Beta test and post any errors or detail things that are not working like I did on Dr. Gs original WM 6.1 ROM. Wish I was clever enough to help you guys port the ROM to the VOX, but will help the cause anyway that I can.
Roland

I played with the files today, so far, it's works pretty good, for a fresh start (I remember the 96dpi debacle when nothing worked lol) I love the home screen design. HTC Audiomanager is great too. I haven't been able to test the weather app. because I forgot to include xt9 at all. So I couldn't type in my Wifi password lol!
hey how u guys test it?????
hikey says that i may brick my device....
frauhottelmann what do u mean u played with the files??? how?
I used a kitchen and older ROMs. And then I used some of the new packages and the new SYS. And so far it's working!

StrippedKitchen V2.1 - Stripped Down WM6.5 Kitchen

Stripped Kitchen WM6.5!
I take no credit for the building of this kitchen!!! I just added and removed somethings! A lot of hard work and time has gone into projects such as these so if you like their work please donate to them!
I take no responsibility if your phone, computer, or anything else that exists breaks.
This is a stripped down version of HollysKitchen. Which was originally Ivans kitchen... before that i don't know lol anyways.. I have Broken it down to an even more basic level. Its up to you what you want in your rom. Since i had so many requests on my thread i decided this might be easier.
There are two files to download now:
StrippedKitchen V2.1 - Stripped Down WM6.5 Version of HollysKitchen
Stripped Add-ons - Contains all Removed SYS files, more programs you can add to the OEM Folder, Package Creator v2.7, and WinImage, Dutty's, & HTC Tools.
--------------------------------
I would suggest Reading this and this before you do anything. Just to get a sense of what your dealing with.
---------------------------------
Extracting the Kitchen:
*Follow the instructions for HollyKitchen. Ace has made this great TUTORIAL to go by.
---------------------------------
The kitchen is Based on my "Striptease Series" roms.
25.32 MB Free RAM and 64.73 MB Free Storage
PLEASE READ THE WHOLE TUTORIAL AND BUILD A BASIC ROM FIRST.
Once you know it works and how it works then you can start adding things.
---------------------------------
Now extract the Stripped Add-ons to Desktop (For easy Access):
---------------------------------
Now open StrippedKitchen V2.1 and Stripped Add-ons and put them side by side.
Like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Now open your Working_Folder from your Kitchen:
Now open you SYS folder:
SYS file open:
-------------------------------
Now back to your Stripped Add-ons:
Click on "Copy to SYS if" folder:
Notice all the "You Want..." folders?
----
Lets say you want Media Player..
Well you go to the "you want Media Player" Folder
-Open it
-There are 4 folders (MediaOS, MediaOS_dpi_96_resh_240_resv_320, MediaOS_Lang_0409, MediaOSFiles)
Highlight all 4, right click and copy
------------
Back to your " Working_folder/SYS" folder:
Right click in your SYS Folder and Paste the 4 "Media" Subfolders.
Thats it! You now have Media Player in your Build.
Repeat the same steps for any other "SYS" Files you want from the "Stripped Add-ons" folder.
-------------
Its the same process for the OEM Files. I have included about 10 OEM folders in the "Add-ons" Folder.
-----------------
CAB To OEM Via Package Creator
Follow these Instructions By ACE
-----------------
Once you have finish tweaking your Working_folder go back to the instructions and start at Number 6.
If it doesn't Work you did it wrong , its happened to us all
MORE INFO AND SCREENS COMING....

well all im doign is add a couple of cabs and thats it
Some cabs don't like to be used with the Creator. Try a different version if possible or try to find the OEM files
I made a ROM with your kitchen.
Now you don't have to cry yourself to sleep. Are you happy Mr. Ill?
Can anyone else verify the kitchen works? Guntcent kept getting an error after th PPchanger screen... which has never happened to me.. I have deleted it from my comp and re downloaded it and it cooked fine for me.
edit: i should be uploading an updated one later on today, depends when i get off
I tried last night following the instructions and all I get after I select (2) build rom is a message that says "system cannot find the batch label specified". Any ideas what I'm doing wrong.
are you running XP? I had that problem originally with hollys kitchen. i installed SP2 and NetFrame 3.5 and once i nstalled AVG Internet security it worked lol no idea why some security thing i think. Anyone else have an idea?
Yeah running XP

Lol, that should be listed as a "Terrible" feature of your kitchen, Mr. Ill. LOL. That is EXTREMELY weird. How da hell does virus software have anything to do with ROM creation? And I don't have a speck of AVG on my computer, either. Idk. Soo weird.
lol its not my Kitchen though. When i installed HollysKitchen on my XP i had the same problem. It was the weirdest. I should work out a deal with AVG since this will get them customers lmao

I still like Ill-Holly-Ivan-Bepe based kitchens more than Ivan's SuperJustKitchen though. Holly's OEM folders were quality, I think that's my favorite part of it.
Why are you still here?? LMAO Go play with your TP2!!!!
