Want to get Qtek9000 - Which ROM to use ? - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro ROM Development

Hi all,
I'm thinking of selling of my ETEN X500 and getting a Qtek9000 (I need big sized screen) and wondering which ROM to use. I'm in SIngapore now.
TQ.
Techx

There is no "Correct ROM to use" - the best thing to do is buy your QTek 9000 and then test all of the various ROMs that are available
Trust me, the Universal is an EXCELLENT device (even considering hyow old it is)
Also there are a number of threads on "which ROM is the best":

Oh, and one last thing: Welcome to the HTC Universal community!

PLEASE RESPOND

I currently have a PDA2K BlueAngel, I know that there is no official upgrade to WM5.0 and that some are working on hacking one but it probably won't be for a while.
What I wanted to know is which devices do have an upgrade to WM5.0 as personnaly I don't like the HTC Universal and don't want to spend another $900.00 for a new model, I just want the upgrade.[/b]
There's an upgrade in this forum for the Himalaya. The last time I checked, it was in ver. 1.60 a (I think). Hopefully this helps
Do you know if it will work on the Andes? From what I understand its the same device just a better camera.
it's not the same device with a better cam it have a different cpu and wifi if i recall correct
no rom have been transported from one device to another that i know of
So can anyone tell me which devices that are currently available have WM5.0 tried and tested on them.
Like what the sale name is?
i.e. O2 XDA ??, PDA??
of the htc family only the himalayas and at that it's
not the final 2005 but a beta version
it's not more likely to get the final version then the rest of the
htc devices i guess
himalaya are xda2 mda2 qtek2020 and the other names you can see under their forum

The cleanest WM6.0/1 ROM

Hi,
I have a G4 Wizard (T-Mobile Mda Vario to be exact). It'll be my first flashing. So I've done a good deal of reading and searching the net.
And here comes the big decision - which ROM to choose. I want an English language WM 6.0 or 6.1 ROM for G4. That still isn't a big problem since there are many of them.
But I'd like to ask you guys what's the cleanest (emptiest) ROM? (WM6.0/1 for G4)
What I mean by that is I don't want too many applications coming with it - I want to install what I need on my own.
Of course I want it to have the basic applications that normally come with WM (when you're buying a WM6 device) such as phone, camera, office and all that.
I've found that there had been a topic about this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298969&highlight=cleanest+rom), but that one is more than a year old and I guess new ROMs have come out.
Thanks in advance,
Alex(ander)

Try this.The lite version
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=388229
Or this.The Vanilla Edition
I use the HTC business edition ROM. It's WWE, smal and very stable...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=376667
thank you very much
I tried the SNN Edition Version 3.0 LITE but it didn't work (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2172475).
Before I used the Mun RUU fraham replied and I tried HTC business edition ROM which seemed better for me (I've read all 12 pages about SNN and all 13 about HTC Business Edition).
Works great
I say, cook your own. that's the cleanest you will ever get

Cooked vs OEM / hacked - Efficiency over OEM 6.1 / 6.5?

Hi guys,
My HTC Polaris / TC is getting very shabby (looks) and technically a bit "steam powered" for a lot of new swanky UI's etc...
While I like all the new UI's/iPhones / iPads etc - on this device I'd rather go for stability and efficient OS, versus animated clocks and desktops etc.
Can someone confirm for me - is doing all this cool UI stuff etc on what is actually a rather old phone these days, basically "overwhleming" the hardware - i.e is it using more HW resource to run the cool stuff, versus the original / clean WM6.1 / 6.5?
Hi,
in reply to your message...
I think best rom for polaris is 3LIT3 ROM.
I'm currently using the version VIII (8°) of 3LIT3 FULL (ITA)
and onestly it is not bad at all...
...but in my personal opinion,
"the best" ROM (in terms of responsivness, global usability of the phone)
(I keeped for more than 6 months),
is the 3LIT3 ROM version V (5°)...
and you can have different versions of 3LIT3 too...
(one is called CLEAN, another NAKED (means essential)
another one is COMPLETE and mine is FULL)
The sad thing is that currently on the xda forum
it is not very easy to find old version of 3LIT3 ROMs
but I can share my version V (but it is a FULL ITA, not WWE)
or you can post a request...someone else here will help for sure!
Good Luck
For me Megan is another good rom , and caravalho too.. did you try those?
Best radio never tried 1.59.44.02, like you use.
being an old speed from from the early artemis section, i strongly advise you to dump the stock rom once you start thinking about speed!!!
i just received my p3650 with stock rom on it and i thought "holy cow, if that is what the improvements over my old p3300 are all about, i am gonna dump this p3650 right away!"
well, good to see old habbits stay...so i went about fiddling with them various roms from the polar section and i am currently sticking with 3LIT3...not dumping the p3650

[Q] Touch Pro 5.2 upgrade

Hello,
I have HTC Touch pro that i got from my sister in Australia (3). The phone has:
os 5.2.21916
I am using this in Canada on Fido.
Now the question I have is:
- Is there any official upgrade i can do to this phone? WM 6, 6.1, 6.5??
- As you see I am using a Australian phone in Canada.. I dont really need data. I do use WiFi.. What would be a good ROM for the following criteria:
- FAST
- Bug Free
- Do not care as much for a lot of apps except MS office
- Will be installing Garmin XT
I am a total noob to this whole ROM thingi.. Please help...
no 6.5 official roms exist, official 6.1 and below exist. you can install garmin on any version. NATF (not a treo fan) used to make v. good roms, some versions include stripped down roms for max performance.
some people complain that the sense interface slows down that phone, so check and if you don't like it, you can disable it.
double post, plz delete.
Thanks for the reply..
So I guess the next question is how do I get the official 6.1 ROM (not a cooked one) for this phone.
I checked the HTC site but they don't have anything that I can find....I tried the HTC australia site and the last release is:2008-12-04
From the HTC www site I see there is: 2009-08-30
htc.com/www/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=140&act=sd&cat=2
Can someone confirm that i can put this on my phone which has OS5.1 currently?
Sorry for spammin.. but I guess my confusion is from the fact that..
After I installed the ENERGY 6.5 ROM, the Settings>about tells me that OS is 6.5
but when i do settings>Phone info>SW info: It says Os version is: 5.2.21916
So I guess the question is how do I updated my phone's base OS to 6.1
You should do a little more research before posting
I'm not trying to be rude, but you're going to run people down really quick with this line of questioning. Most of the answers to your questions could be answered by just reading more threads, maybe even a little wikipedia. I'll give you one hint: your phone does not have (nor did it ever have) Windows Mobile 5, and there is no such thing as WinMo 5.1 or 5.2. Unless your sister installed a new ROM, you've got Windows Mobile 6.1.
Now, go back and do some more research and decide for yourself: what ROM do you want to install? Is there a reason you don't want a cooked ROM? (is it because you believe that the "official" ROMs somehow are better?)
Good luck!
You can test what rom you like by flashing different ones rather than ask "what rom is the best?" I have no idea what your tastes are. It doesn't hurt to flash different roms as long as you back up your data
In my opinion, the custom roms blow away official roms in terms of performance and cosmetics. (All my opinion, you choose for yourself)

Toshiba TG01 FTW, yeh the htc touch pro has better software, but if you get the tg01, install the htc roms that our fantastic chefs cook! the one in my signature is IMHO the best sense ROM, gives it a near perfect expeirience to the htc hd2. and its a snapdragon! my friend has the touch hd, very simiiliar CPU to the touch pro and it is much slower. anyway the touch pro has been suceeded by tp2. the screen of the tg01 is wvga, so it is clearer. personally imho the touch pro is outdated and , get the tg01!
ok guys, due to lady bad luck the toshiba was sold and best next one was the htc touch pro. now i need you're help in finding a good os/updates/apps/something to get it 'rollin' . i would like something stable not that ported android beta os. any advice is welcomed.
and thank you oly for that quick response
IMHO,go for the hTC touch pro...Its a good device when you compare it to the Tosh... Also, the service network of Toshiba is in shambles....Need i say more after you read this?
tnks shr. but i have already bought it... now what OS do you recomend? apps.. everything. i am open to advices/links
please i would realy need another rom because this one lag-s!!
Have a look at the one in my Signature.
Also look at newer TAEL 2.5 sense & Energy ROMs.
TAEL ROM is smooth for me but user tweaking & the ability to read instructions & threads makes the diference between good & bad user experiences !
Tarkin Keyboard button driver is a must, will list some more stuff when have 10 minutes to spare, in middle of catching flight so just a quick reply.
oh, thank you very much! i do appreciate it! but unfortunate, i am a noob. i have never flashed a phone. all i had till now where symbian phones. this is first WM and HTC experience for me .
TG01 Roms
Hi I have been roaming around this forum for a few years now.
I too have a TG01, The best bit of advise I can give is to stay away from any win7 roms, the TG was not designed to ever run it. Win7 is very slow.
There are some very good roms out there, I have found that anything from mirolg tends to be stable.
With regards to flashing a new Rom Check out the "how to Guide" in the TG01 section (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=654674) if you are still finding it a little hard have a search for the problem, but if you still cant work it out drop me a PM.
Hope you have a good time finding your perfect Rom.

We were all virgins to flashing at one point.
Do some research & follow guidelines for 6.5 install & run in period from energy & all should be well ! quite simple really ...
In my opinion 2.1 sense is better option on touch pro but some of the newer 2.5 sense ROMs are supposedly fast but do consume more memory resources & battery power.
