I want to know this also!

No, it is absolutely not possible.
And just to save you the trouble of asking why:
It is because there are no tools for cooking ROM for this model and no leaked ROMs that can be used directly or as a base.

So do I. Unfortunately iMate, for some sily reason, does not want the public to get it.
Were did you come from, man? Did'nt you hear that they are not willing to release a WM6 OS for Universal? Read around first, please. ALL THE PEOPLE HERE ARE SPENDING THEIR TIME ONLY BECAUSE THERE IS NO SUCH THINK LIKE "ORIGINAL Universal WM6". Thanks to develpers here we can taste this on our unis, but please do not ask such questions, because it makes people mad.
Do not take it personal...

Um... What do you mean by this?
Did you mean:
1) The Original "Official" Release from I-Mate
Then your out of luck because that doesn't exist...
2) The Original ROM Base before the Developers started working on them
I'm sure if you PM the Developers nicely they may still have a copy. However, there is a reason that the Developers are Developers - they need to do much customisation and work on a ROM Base before it works enough for it to be considered okay for everyday use
3) A ROM that doesn't have all of the extra programs (ie a Pure Vanilla)
Now this we can do. Just look for any "Kitchen" and cook (build) your own ROM without any OEM packages
Enjoy!
Thanks for all your replies; I guess I'm out of this world then. I saw WM6 on many devices out in the market and i thought I could get the OFFICIAL ver for my JASJAR too. My bad. Sorry guys/gals

Treo Cingular/AT&T WM5 ROM

Does anyone know where I can find a copy of the Cingular or AT&T WM5 based ROM for the Treo 750? I would like to reflash my phone. I would prefer the most updated verssion possible, but I will take any version at least 1.13 or newer.
Thanks.
I have actually been looking for one of these myself. Can someone PM me if they have it and instructions if they are different than the instructions wen upgrading to WM6 ROM.
Thanks.
I am also looking for the WM5 ROM. I flashed my 750 with WM6 and need to reflash it with WM5.
I remember there is Cingular WM5 ROM around there.
I cant remember the link. I try to search my bookmark.

Latest rom for SDA?

what is the latest rom for teh sda/tornado/etc... my wm6 does not work too well and would want wm5 that is stable fast and can do anything... no need for mods to make it work right...
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TO4V7A0O
Thanks for this! I need to downgrade back to WM5 as well
That's too bad WM6 doesn't work well. I've been tempted to upgrade my SDA, I guess I'd better not.

I disagree -- WM6 does work well on the SDA. Using "Karhoe's Step-by-step pictorial guide to upgrade to Windows Mobile 6" referenced in this thread, I was very successful upgrading my SDA from WM5 to WM6. I've got everything I've tried so far working so I'm a happy camper!!!
I agree, I also have an SDA, and while I've had to play around with a few things to get it just right, I'm in a nice happy place. If you want a rom that's got most of the knicks worked out, try the Perfect English Edition Rom here.
Hi there,
I downloaded the file, but bevor I update my german SDA (with WM2003se) I want to ask if I can switch the language to german? Is this possible, and is this version (I downloaded) with Windows Mobile 5 ?
Tahnks for answers!

don't ever bother to upgrade because your device is a typhoon/feeler/amadeus variant which is running wm2003se. this ROM is for tornado variants only which is running wm5. however you can still upgrade it to wm5 or wm6. read here.
Thanks, but if read over 12 pages in this forum, but there are no instructions how to upgrade to wm5 could you send me a link (PM) ?
Thanks

Perhaps most things work well, but there is a post by Karhoe about WiFi not working. I use WiFi more than anything else. I can tolerate some bugs, but any that causes problems with WiFi will probably cause me a lot of grief.
I will probably try WM6 soon anyway. Grief or not, I can't help but upgrade to the newest version of everything even if it causes more problems than it solves.

Look here:

It's all very well explained.
As to which version of wm6 should put, it depends on you.
Greetings.
I use the crossbow 2.12.08 version. Initially with radio 1.15 then upgraded to radio 1.18.
Reason is that roaming with radio 1.18 seems to be better. but so far is seems only more unstable.
However the Crossbow is very nice and I can not find any major problems.
Very satisfied and been using it for some months now.
The link is easily found on this forum and after the download you simply connect the pda to your computer, unzip the program on your computer and run the application.
the rest is easy. no big issues or special knowledge required.
note my pda already was unlocked
just give it a try !
or download some wm6 and wm5 versions and try each one.
the installation is easy and more or less the same. probably best start trying the wm5 and then move on to wm6
good luck!

[question] Windows Mobile 6.1 Update

hello guys
i currently have WM 6.0
and if i want to burn a rom into my phone that is WM 6.1
would i need to update my WM first?
if i do can someone send me the link where i can update it?
because i cant seem to find it.
thanks guys for helping me
Before everybody tackles you, let me answe this lol
If you have an official WM6.0, you'll need hardspl to install ANY custom ROM. Just install that and then choose the ROM of your likings (many chefs and ROMs out there).

You are making a confusion: the ROM itself (as in Read Only Memory) is the Windows Operating System (among others).
If you have WM6.0, that means you are running a WM6.0 ROM.
If you want WM6.1 you will need to upgrade to WM6.1 ROM.
This is where you are making the confusion: to upgrade to WM6.1 = to "burn" (aka flash) a WM6.1 ROM.
Hope this clears the fog!

hmm.. i think i understand wht ur saying. if i flash a WM 6.1 rom into my phone i would have WM 6.1. and if i have a WM. 6.1 rom and i want a 6.0 rom i simply need to just flash a 6.0 rom onto my phone. correct?
so there is no need for the extra step, of me having to update before i flash a 6.1 rom on to my phone.
essentially, flashing a rom is "Updating" in the sense i think you had in your first post in this thread. There is no need to update anything on your stock ROM because you are entirely replacing it.
It's similar to reformatting a XP computer that's Vista capable and putting Vista on it. (Not that I would recommend that anyone do that to their poor PC.)
However, before you flash, make SURE you have followed all the steps and guides to CID (Security) Unlock your phone and have HardSPL installed properly, otherwise your Kaiser will be a $450 paperweight. SIM (Subsidy) Unlocking is NOT the same as CID unlocking, so make sure you've done it right before trying it out.

Absolutely. Link, which is included in the sticky thread I mentioned above, for you to learn more about ROM http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Kaiser#ROMx20.Upgrading
Remember: read carefully before attempting to do anything.
