Blackjack's WMP for other devices? - General Topics

I have scoured the net looking for an answer to this and I am really not able to find much information at all.
I am looking for information regarding the version of Windows Media Player that the Cingular Blackjack uses. I want to know if it's possible to get that version of the player to work on other devices.
I have never used the player, I have only seen screenshots of it. If it works as good as it seems it would, I think I would love to have this on my 8525.
Can anyone shed some light on the mystery of this elusive WMP version?
TIA

HTC Touch Streaming Media

hello.
l have and love my Bell Mobility HTC TOUCH.
I have TCMP installed works great. I have HTC Steaming Media installed , works not so good.
I want to apologize for beating this horse again, but I have used the search and I can't find my solutions. Everything I find is for other phones/devices.
I can not get rtsp or mss or any other Steaming links to work.
is there any fix, registry edits file edits, dll additions etc.for my device?
nothing would please me more about my TOUCH if I could watch sky sports streams, tv.tuga etc!
again I am sorry if I missed anything in my search regarding my enquiries .
thank you xda guru's
I'm curious myself also, my at&t hermes came with realplayer for streaming (terrible, no fullscreen!); I installed 'htc streaming media' but haven't been able to get it to work either; probably just a registry fix and/or a proxy setting, just don't know what yet.

Windows Media Player Mobile 11.X, what's new?

I only have WMP 10 on in my ROM and I haven't seen any version of WMP11 cabed anywhere.
Does anyone have an idea of what's new in 11.x?
Latest version I've seen is 11.2 but from what I can tell it looks 100 % identical to WMP 10.3 that is installe don my phone.
The 1x.xstep up suggest something pretty major though so I'm guessing MS has done some work under the hood.
Performance?
Codec/Filetype support?
Video or audio quality?
Does anyone have an idea or does anyone know if it's possible to install it (ie rip it out of a ROM that contains it)?

So you actually use WMP? compared to TCPMP or some of the other mediaplayers it does barely anything useful.
hey can ya provide me da link to download 11.2? even i use WMP bt havnt tried nethin other that 10.3 yet
thanks
I use Core Player and PocketTV (since the current core player doesn't support mpeg2).
Still, I've only used WMP 10.3, so that's why I'm asking if anything is improved in 11.2.
One reason for using it is that it "connects" with HTC Home and other media players (besides HTCs own) don't. Ie you can control WMP through the Home interface.
In any case: I just want to know what, if anything, has changed.
Also: Personally I really like the desktop WMP and I've always been a fan of using the apps that are built in to the OS (or at least developed by the same company as the OS) whenever possible.
So if WMP 11.2 is a step in the right direction then I would really like to know

I'm also looking for a link. I've only seen it in a screenshot of a cooked ROM based on the latest WinCE OS.
I don't really intend to flash my unit as it's not mine but if it's possible to "extract" it from another ROM and build a cab installer then that would be great.
Seriously, no one has used it?
So even if no one seems to have actually used it, does anyone have the app to share (in case you can install it seperately)
Here is my thread about new WMP version

Default app for AVRCP-buttons (stereo bluetooth)

I have finally gotten myself a TouchPro (my last device was TytnII), but have an "unusual" problem (one I never have experienced in any of my other WM devices).
When using A2DP (stereo bluetooth), it seems that the AVRCP-button-presses I do on my stereo headphones does not send to MortPlayer (my favorite) but to WindowsMedia player (if it is not is started it will start when I press one of the buttons on the headphones), it seems that on the TouchPro all AVRCP-button-calls goes to WMP and not MortPlayer.
...and I suspect this also is a problem for other people using other musicplayers on the TouchPro with StereoBluetooth!?
Is there some setting on the HTC Diamond (noticed the same on my girlfriends Diamond earlier) and HTC Touch Pro that oversteers other music apps in this area? If so, does anyone know how to get around it, with some registry key perhaps?
I have used A2DP for many years, and with several devices and headsets, so I not a total rookie in that area...and have gone though many issues with A2DP and AVRCP...but the last 2 years or so, everything has worked fine with all devices I have had...so it was a bit unexpected to get any issues with this. So any hint or tip is appreciated!
And yes, this might be a specific issue with MortPlayer and HTC Touch Diamond and Touch Pro...but this version of MortPlayer works fine in this area on all other WM phones I have tested it on (and that has been quite a few...HP's, Samsungs, and a lot of HTC models). ...so there probably is "something" special on the TouchPro...and hopefully something that can fairly easily be oversteered?
...cause starting to use "wired headphones" would be a bummer...it's so 80's! :-D
So I try to post a question in my beloved XDA-forum! Maybe some smart dude/gal has the answer?
Love the TouchPro though...especially the keyboard!
BTW, I checked the latest version (3.2) of Schaps Advanced Config, in case there was some trick there, and also looked a little through the registry, but did not find any answers there.
Same problem here, using Conduits Pocket Player. As far as I know, there's no solution yet, but the folks at Conduits are working on one.
Robrecht, thanks for info!
Then I at least know it is an general issue with TouchPro and Diamond, and not just specifically for MortPlayer on those...and that means more people have the issue...and gives more hope for a fix!
...and that Conduits might have an fix for their player...and hopefully that might help for MortPlayer too...og I might just have to convert!
OK...that is not very nice of me...hoping an issue afflicts MANY people, so it get fixed for me! :-D
Well, Pocket Player is really good and it works extremely well on a device with as much RAM as the Touch Pro. But with a little luck the Conduits guys will find a general solution that benefits users of all players.

Well if you put it that way... :-D Still, in a way, that's what this whole forum's about!
it effects me too, if media player isn't opened then it will just open music from the music tab on touch flo 3d. but I play stuff in coreplayer (mainly vids, but would like to be able to pause them more effectively.
Is there a solution yet for PocketPlayer and AVRCP?
Bummer. I was just asking about this problem over at ppcgeeks. I've tried both mortplayer and pocket player with no luck.

From what I've read on the Conduits forum HTC has somehow hardcoded the AVRCP mapping to the TF3D-buildin player. And the developers from Conduits had to do some tricks to find a workaround - here is a small statment from the conduits team:
We had to use some undocumented tricks to get this to work.

What I'm trying to say is, that there is no simple solution to get AVRCP running on an 3rd-party player. Thankfully Conduits has found a way but the developers from CorePlayer still have to work on this.

Best Media Player WinMo as of July 2009?

Alright I've looked around and would really like an answer to this question.
I looks like im unable to get a balance with media players on my winmo device. For example I love the Coreplayer for its settings and mainly its preamp but it runs really so on some files i encode. Windows Media Player has no trouble playing any file but its not loud enough. Do any of you guys have this problem? Any fixes or ideas? Any help would be much appreciated

Midi

Hi.
Just in case anyone starts shouting at me, I think I've searched everywhere for an answer so now I'm asking (feel defensive today - sorry)
Are WM phones capable of MIDI synthesis? I've been a little bit envious of the various instruments that are available for certain fruit-related machines that synthesise the sound, not play recordings and I am surprised that I can't find something similar on for WM.
Any ideas?
Cheers
p.s. current phone is HTC HD2 with 1.6 Stock ROM
Moved as not software release.

YES! I have been using commercial software that is a bit dated but still very usable on the past two generations of WM devices. You may still be able to buy it, but I must admit I have not seen it around for some time. It is by a company called IntelliArt, and is called "IntelliArt Midi Player". It was written in 2004/2005 and I think I must have bought it around that time. The web-site is www.intelliart.com (surprise!) and I have what think was the last version, version 4.0.0. It works with midi files and the intstrument sounds are pretty good. The GUI is a bit non standard in places, but very usable indeed. It has 16 channels, and a full set of standard GM Midi sounds. You can vary the tempo, mute channels etc. Played through speakers or headphones the sounds are pretty good but are never going to equal better PC samples. I use it for learning piano, creating midi files on a PC score writer. It is handy to have a portable midi player to carry about.
This might sound too enthusiastic but it is good - and NO, I do not work for them!
Hope you can find it?

Sorry to pop up again..... yes, I had tried all these and all found wanting compared to the one in my post above! I was into music/midi in a big way and investigated and trialled somewhat exhaustively. For example the midi sound samples that you can find to work with the GS Player are not great sounding. The IntelliArt player even has playlists which the others have not implemented as successfully.
I find that the enthusiasm for midi seems to have deserted the WM market place. There is a dearth of any good and new products. The Apple marketplace is buzzing, although it is not one I need to get into, despite the midi offerings. Like others, I have a big investment in WM software.
