Database Info

cab files cant be executed

Hi folks,
hope you can help me here cause my beloved german forum is dying out..
After a hard reset i was able to restore all my programs and settings quite fast (got used to it cause hard reset solved many recent problems *g*).
But suddenly neither the original file browser nor Smart Explorer can execute cab installation file.
The only changes i made might be some settings with the OS RegTweaker or AmpTweaks but cant find any that would explain it.
Anyone know the Regitry setting that might prevent user from executing cab files so i can undo this limitation?

Have you installed Documents to go app??
Because i faced the same problem when i installed the app. I dint find any way to reverse it. You would need to hard reset it again. or you will have to install apps from activesync

installed dutty's rom now keyboard problem please help

Hi guys, i've tried searching for the fix before posting but i was unsuccessful. i installed dutty's rom on my att tilt now i cant use my keyboard wen texting because of the xt9 and other keys not being mapped correctly. ive tried to mess with the xt9 settings and the word completion settings but nothing seems to fix it. when i type a text the predictive text pops up and i have to push over on the directional pad to move the curser over then continue typing. also some of the alternate characters dont match up to the keyboard. is there any way to fix it? thanx in advance..

.. to completely disable it use this zip
1. extract the folder .\disable_xT9\
2. connect device to PC
3. execute .\disable_xT9\start.bat
4. reset your device by pressing the off button for 5 sec

hallo, I'm italian and I can say it's a little difficult to catch everything you write here, but because of the love for Pda I'll do my best...
well I've just a little question... is there a thread or something that deals with toshiba g900? I boughted it a few months ago but I would like to improve his abilities, if possible...
and just onother thing... I had once a Qtek s100 but I got a virus that destroyed him... a file of this virus is placed in the installation file of the ppc, so even if I do the Hard Reset it keeps installing and shouting down the device... is there any way to solve this problem?

Welcome to the forum!
We generally deal only with devices made by HTC so you will find very little about Toshiba phones here.
As for the Qtek s100 there are two possibilities:
1) After hard reset when you done with initial setup (screen calibration etc.) soft reset the phone immediately before extended ROM is installed.
Then the virus will not be installed and you should be able to delete it.
2) Flash a new ROM. This will delete any file, even those that are not removed by hard reset.

I will do them as soon as I can... but I still Have one more question: how do I flash my S100 if I'm not able to make a connection usb??? first I have to solve the brick, haven't I? than can u link me the thread with tutorial on how to flash?? I go mad whenever I search something here...

This is the WiKi page for your device. You should find all the info you need there.
What you have to do is basically enter bootloader and flash from there.
As for searching this site - the built in search engine is crap unfortunately so you should use google to search this site.
You can do this in one of two ways:
1) Install a google toolbar in your browser.
2) type site:xda-developers.com before your search string on the google page.

To search xda-devs using google you can also use a link in my signature.

here am I again... u told me that here u work with htc so I've searched an HTC with the same sCreen as my toshiba... it's the HTC OMNI... I'm not able to find a thing about it here... am I doing something wrong?

Where can i find the stock slider icon?

Can anyone put me in the right direction where i would be able to locate the original (stock) slider for the HD2..i was reluctant to start this thread but im having no luck finding it.. soory and thanks

Do you have a stock ROM or Custom ROM?

Download a stock ROM and extrakt the stock icons with cfc_gui.

thanks for reply both..im running stock v1.72..i recently changed my slider but it wasnt how i expected so i want to revert bk to original until i find another..is there a cab hanging about? if there is i cant find it !

I don't remember me see a thread fore the original slider (every Stock Rom have it, and everyone will have something els)
But when you say you have install a other Slider, but you aren't satisfied. Was it a cab file? If it is a cab file, just removed it; and it will bring you back to the original slider.
I't just a Idea; maybe it can be useful fore you.

So you installed a cab and it won't uninstall? What cab was it? Try to reinstall it. If you have an error uninstalling, trying to reinstall the cab will usually complete the uninstall. If that doesn't work, if I know what cab it was I can figure out what files to extract to post them.

paten thanks but i think you misunderstood ..i have succesfully removed the unwanted cab but when i restart my device i have a system32.exe error(not services) so basically its missing a slider

It sounds like you have other problems then. When you uninstalled the cab successfully, your original slider should have returned. I would try to reinstall that cab again and then uninstall it to see if that fixed the problem. If that didn't work I would do a hard reset.

All those good themes but i dont know how to install them. I have tried to download cabs and installed them, installed newest framework and i still dont get same pictures on my phone as they are presented on screenshots. Any help???

Okay first of all tray sometimes to used the search engine.
But because you asked it here we go.
First of all make some attentions on witch WM version you have wm 6.5 ore WM 6.5.X not every thing is compatible fore these two versions.
Secondly download the cab version, if you do it with your PC transport the cab file to your SD and navigate to the folder where you have store the cab file and press on it; you will see a window who asked you where you will install the cab Internal memory ore SD select Internal memory, you will see it will install it and after installation in the most case you will see a window who ask you to restart your device now; select yes!
if you don't see this window do manually a soft reset.
Thats it.

Its normal sir read carefuller the instructions.
The theme is still under construction, not everything is finished.
And the one you see is coming from a previous work of djcedric look in his signature!!!
Ps; the next time you have a similar question it's more easier to place it in the thread where you download the cab.
Reason way!?
- The creator will see your post!? (ore do you think a creator will search in every thread fore see if there is a problem with his creation?)
- other users can helps you more easier because they know directly of witch theme you are talking about.
