Smartdial not so smart? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario ROM Development

Is there any way to make Smartdial ignore area codes? I have area codes for all my contacts even the local contacts, in case of roaming. When I begin dialing a local number it doesn't find the correct contact unless I start by dialing the area code, which I wouldn't normally do for local numbers. I know my typhoon w/ WM2003SE did ignore area codes.
I am running the Faria Final "Cook you own" Rom, but I know all other ROM's I have ran this problem occurs in all of them.
Any ideas?
(Please don't say remove the area codes from my contacts, I put them there for a reason!)

Call Area code recognition software?

Is there a program out there that can recognise the area code of an incoming call (for a telephone number that isn't in your contacts list) and tell you where the call is coming from? I guess it would simply a matter of having a small database of all the UK (or whichever country you were interested in) area codes and taking the first five digits of the incoming call and matching it to the area code.
Such a program would be quite useful especially when you get a missed call from a number you don't recognise. If you new which town the call came from, you might be able to guess who it was (obviously this system wouldn't work for all calls, blocked or mobile numbers for example wouldn't work).
Any programs out there? If not anyone care to make one
good idea!
yeah that would be a great program!! Anyone??

Prefix dialing and dialing rules

I'm looking for the ability to contact certain people using prefxes such as international access numbers, pin numbers, suffex dialing for extensions, etc without having to edit each contact manually (i.e. entering commas for hard pauses and what not). If you manually edit contacts for automatic dialing sequences they lose their original formating and so you run into problems with caller ID and sms functionality. For example if you have an x number of contacts whose numbers begin with the same international access number it will get confused and think all the contact entries are the same.
A program like this could also support other dialing prefixes such as *67 for anonymous calling, (11) + 10-digit phone number for direct voicemail calling. It can also be used to setup automatic dialing sequences for those who need to access voice mails on other numbers, so no and so forth.
Up until now I have only been able to find one program that supports this for WM2003 (MyPrefixDial), but I don't think it works for WM5. There's only one prefix dialer called long distance dialer for WM5 but it's too basic of a program.
Anyone have plans or know of plans the development of a more complete program? I currently find that there are more applications for the Palm OS interface, which I find rather strange...any other ideas on the subject?

Can't match # to a contact without the area code first!!

I've been frustrated with this problem since day one, and no ROM has a fix... I've set the area code, put contacts numbers in (###) ###-#### form, ###-#### form (which works with dialing but SMS won't work right), and ########## form, BUT NONE WILL LET ME DIAL THE NUMBER WITHOUT AN AREA CODE AND MATCH A CONTACT WITH IT!! If I dial someone's number WITH the area code, it matches a contact. With the area code, nothing gets matched!!!!!!! IS THERE A FIX TO THIS

[solved] Problem with Contacts and International Country Codes

So Ive been using my HTC Ozone (6.5 Standard, 3VO rom) for a while in israel, and the way the cellular network works is as follows:
country code is +972
the number that shows up on an incoming call is 052-555-5555.
The number that shows up on an incoming text is +972-52-555-5555.
The number that shows up on an outgoing call when dialing without the country code (aka 052-555-5555) is +972-052-555-5555.
All of these differences mean that if I have a number saved in the contact manager (in only one of the above forms), it isnt displayed 2/3rds of the time. If i send a text to ME(052-555-5555), the reply comes back from an unsaved number, in a new thread is +972-52-555-5555.
Is there a way for me to just save the base number (052-555-5555), and have the phone's contact manager realize that its the same number is the +92 equivalent? My current workround is saving all the forms of a number to a contact, but 1. its tedium to go through all my contacts and do this, and 2. you can only save so many numbers to a contact, which means im screwed if the contact has two different numbers.
I see all these fields in the "current country" setting, but I have no idea what they mean, or if that is even the solution.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
hey , i got the same problem on my Omnia 2 with windows mobile version 6.5
The local incoming call won't show the country code, and sms does the opposite way.
check through all my phone setting, can not find any related option for this.
Thanks for anyone can provide a resolution.
i just resolved my problem. hope this way can help you as well.
get a regedit software on your windows mobile phone.
go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/ControlPanel/Phone
under it, you should able to see a key name "CallIdMatch", change the value to maybe 8 or 9, which means it will match the last 8 or 9 numbers for each incoming call or sms. (use decimal) after the changing, reboot your phone.
Wow, it worked!!
Thanks a lot man!
thanks for the tip jason_ma!
i was also wondering about it.
Anyone know how to edit CalIidMatch an an HTC hero

[Q] can't dial numbers with +(country code) prefix - HTC Diamond 2 (WM6.5)

Help...
I have my whole phone book in outlook set with international prefix dialing codes (for ex. Israeli numbers are stored +972).
I had no issues dialing in the past on my HTC Tytn. I upgraded the phone to Diamond 2 (WM 6.5), and I cannot dial anymore numbers that begin with "+".
for ex +972-9-xxxxxxx is replied with a voice message from the operator "the number you dialed is not in the system", while dialing 00-972-9-xxxxxxx does work.
where is the "+" translated to the international dialing code in Israel "00")?
You can use 00 instead of +.
+3630..... is the same like 003630.....
thanks Adolf.
Yes I can use 00, but this is OK for calls initiated from Israel. In the US I need 011.
I am also getting the phonebook from an exchange server with the "+" already in the number. Editing hundreds of numbers is not something I am looking forward to...
As my old Tytn did dial the "+" sign with no issues, I know this is possible.
Does anyone knows how to make the "plus code dialing" tab appear under the phone settings? For some reason, all I see under network services is:
"Call Forwording" (Typo in original text)
"Call Waiting"
"Message Center"
I do not have the "plus dialing" item...
Any ideas?
where in WM6.5 registry do I edit the "+" dialing options?
I use the attached registry file to dial using the plus code while in the U.S. Hope it works for you. I received the settings from here. I have an HTC Imagio running Energy Sense 2.5 CHT ROM.
thanks.
What OS where u using? I think it works for 6.0/6.1 but not for 6.5
