Hi!
I have 2 exchange accounts. The first one is the clubimate, that came with my K-jam, the second is the one I use at work.
When I write in the details for the clubimate and do a successful sync, the fields for domain and user name gets grayed out, so I can't change them.
I need to edit these fields so I can use my work account.
Does anybody know how to solve this one?
Regards,
Knut
Activesync will not let you change the account username, only the password. You have to remove the sync account and setup the new one. It's a pain! I have a customer that wanted to do the same but I have not found a work around.
yeah AFAIK there is no work around because this is done for "security"
how do you remove the sync account?

I may be the only one interested in this but I finally figured out how to accesss my premium hotmail account from Outlook Mobile in WM6.1. I was hitting a wall when trying to setup a new account in Outlook. When I entered [email protected] on the first setup screen and hit next, I would get the screen with the link to Windows Live Hotmail. Here is how I got it to work.
When adding a new account I entered [email protected] in the email address box. This allowed me to get to the next available settings needed to configure the account. Once I configured and setup the account, I went back into the account settings and changed the email address to [email protected]. Works now!
I'm sure all of these talented people on this website already knew that but I couldnt find it anywhere.
try this

Try this for http.
Sorry for this.
Sorry to bump such an old thread, but google sent me this way.
Does this treat it as a pop e-mail though, or like an IMAP account?
This is great advice! I tried this approach and it worked beautifully. No additional programs required on my little device so I can check all my accounts together.
Okay, so I've been using nuevasync for a while to wirelessly sync my phone with my google calendar. Just saw that Google now as their own sync so figured I'd use theirs... less likely to run into upgrade issues if Google reconfigures anything with their calendar.
So, I went into the settings and put in google's website then hit next. Now I'm stuck! The "User name" and "Domain" fields are locked! It won't let me change these at all. Any one know why these would be locked and how I get them editable?
Thanks.
here are some suggestions...
1) Edit the Reg files for it
HKCU/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/ACTIVESYNC/PARTNERS/0DD8685C-...etc
Here you should find the values you need to edit "Domain"and "username"
2) delete the partnership from activesync then create a new one. - This can be done by opening activesync and clicking on menu (bottom right) then selecting options and delete.
Option 2 deletes all the exchange sync stuff though, so be sure to use PIMBACKUP to keep the information.
removing an exchange server only deletes contacts related to your exchange server.. it doesn't delete all contacts... same thing about mail and messaging.
hi, just wondering whether anyone's had this annoying problem. it's windows mobile 6 and the problem is adding an email account. i had a previous email account linked to pop/smtp in which i could not edit account options, so i deleted the account. now, when i go to start -> programs -> messaging -> menu -> tools -> new account, nothing happens. i.e i cant add a new email messenging account. there's no error message...
can anyone assist?!
which device do you have?
an htc cruise.
How may messaging accounts do you have already? This includes SMS, MMS and the standard Outlook. There is a maximun number, think it's 7.
an active sms account. and the outlook and email sample ones which i dont use
so, 3 existing ones
Thats not it then, i have SMS and 5 email accounts and the option to add another is still there.
5???
thats a lot

2 domain based POP3, one Hotmail, one gmail and one mail2web. The penalty, i suppose, of having a split personality on line. I have a work related profile and a personal one.
Hehe, i also use 2 Gmails and 2 POP3.. and sometimes hotmail, messenger dependent.
anyways, try this:
delete whatever accounts you have on your device and delete any pc partnerships on your device. pair your device with your PC again and then try creating an account. if this doesn't work, i suggest creating a _setup.xml file which will be cabbed containing your email preferences. If the first solution doesn't work, let me know and i'll guide you thru creating that cab file.

cheers. be safe.
-After setting up your phone Open the email app (not gmail) Select exchange account.
-For Domain/Username put in "/[email protected]"(or "/[email protected]" or google apps users) without quotes. The password should be filled in from the previous field. The Exchange server is "m.google.com" without quotes. Check both boxes below for ssl and encryption and hit next.
-Select the checking frequency(push will notify you as soon as a new email is delivered) and amount to synchronize (up to a month). then select next.
-Put in an account name and display name, then hit done. If you have corporate calendar installed, then your calendar will synchronize and so will your contacts and email.
Now go to your account sync settings and turn off all syncs for your gmail account, but make sure sync and exchange are turned on so that it updates when new emails or contacts come in.
This is a great temporary fix until on of the devs finally figues out how to get the real gmail sync working
-Thanks to ebg10 via eugene373 for the great idea

I have gotten google sync working in this rom and all other 2.0 roms through exchange. It syncs mail, contacts, and calendar without the need for google apps. To get this working make a new exchange account and put in your gmail email address and password and then select manual setup. Select exchange account. For Domain/Username put in "/[email protected]" without quotes. The password should be filled in from the previous field. The Exchange server is "m.google.com" without quotes. Check both boxes below and hit next. Select the checking frequency(or push) and amount to synchronize. Select which options you want below, then select next. Put in an account name and display name, then hit done. If you have corporate calendar installed, then your calendar will synchronize and so will your contacts and email. Now you have push gmail, contacts, and calendar. Because exchange will only synchronize a month of emails, I also setup my gmail as an IMAP account so I still have access to my old emails. The android email app is not as good as the gmail app IMHO, but it is a temporary solution, and new emails seem to show up faster this way!

I didn't do it, the Above Member had figured it out. Credit goes to him. & All sync to Gapps need turned Off. as Exchange uses it's own sync & it's not apart go gapps at all.
settings>accounts & Sync> Turn off Auto-sync feature.
Slight problem I'm encountering. It doesn't work for me at all. Using a G1 with AOSP17.
And btw, is it meant to be a '/' or a '\'?

thats probably not a very constructive reply.
Meh, it just won't work for me properly. I finally made it work but it slows everything down for some reason.
Back to using Auto-Sync turn-on-and-off
I tried this but it keeps telling me authentication failed. All details are correct, checked three times. Any ideas?
I have a problem with exchange... after I set it up, my emails don't come in to the mail app. I have tried sending a new email and it doesn't show up in the mail app. I have also allowed it to sync and it still does not work. No emails show up in the mail app. Is anyone else having this problem?
OK that's strange but after giving me authentication errors earlier it has now synchronised my calendar. Funky..
Google Sync over exchange officially only works in the U.S. That might be causing some of the problems.
so I have 2 accounts in my phone on google, my work one and my home one. contact sync is off on my work account and is only on on my home account. When I add a contact, at the top it says google (meaning that is going to be where it stores it). I put it in and save it and it saves it to my work account on my phone. I can't find anyway to pick what account should be the default contacts account. Or for that matter, why the hell is is putting it in a contact list that isn't set up to sync (yes I verified that). Does anyone know how I can choose a default contact accout (not for viewing, for saving to)

Dafault is Google, but when you create a new contact tap google then it going to open 3 choices> where to be saved
on the Phone or Sim or Google. its your choice.
nvm: thought you have one account in your phone an the other on Google. :/
I do have a choice. But I don't want a choice. I just want it to be my main phones account
