Write Texts using PC, Connected Thru ActiveSync - General Topics

Hi All,
Just wondered if it is possible to write and send texts using a PC when the Phone is linked up through ActiveSync, it would certainly speed things up for me, because texting on my Artemis takes an eternity!
Any help would be great!!

Do a google search for "Jeyo Mobile Extender" This allows you to send sms via outlook on your PC when sync'd with PPC.
You could also use "TrueConnect" which can be found at link below

You can use Microsoft remote display control (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/wce/downloads/ppctoys.mspx). You can control, ie type, view and click , on your phone using your PC keyboard and mouse.

Or you could look at the project right here on XDA-Developers, which does exactly this! (Also allows you to dial out from your PC via ActiveSync)
You can read the thread here- and, because it's open source, you can make any changes or improvements that you want!

thanks for the replies!! they all work brilliantly!!

sms texting...

Hi all,
let me apologise for asking a simple question, but I cant get the search function to work in here tonight...
Ok to what I want, I've seen a piece of software for a standard mobile phone that allows users to text using the computer screen to type the message and then send using the phone....
Does anyone know if there's anything like that for our devices?
Thanks
PB
Jeyo mobile extender can do this.
A free option & more versatile method is "my mobiler" this will enable you to bring up your PPC screen onto your PC & control your pda with your PC mouse & keyboard.
I use this to send sms & mms while working from my desktop with my PPC connected via Active Sync, plus you can check incoming messages/calls ect without picking up your PDA.
My mobiler can be found here. http://www.pdamagician.com/software.html

I want to send SMS from my PC using the Windows Mobile connected via Active Sync. Though there are numerous software available to do so, the specific feature I am looking is sending the SMS from excel file in which one column contains the Phone No and another the personlized SMS for each number.
I had searched a lot on the internet and could't find one.
Can you please help ?
Thanks in advance !!!

Hmmm, sounds to me like he wants to spam people rather than sending standard messages - can't think of another reason why you would want to have Excel List prepeared messages. If it wouldn't be meant to send out large amount of SMS, a SMS template would do!
I hate people doing that - here in the US you have to pay even for incoming messages, regardless if it was wanted or not!
Could be he wants to do a blanket "Happy New Year" message to all his friends.
Actually scrub that, you could just do one SMS to already existing contacts very easily so why the need to prepare an Excel sheet.
For remote control etc i use Jeyo Mobile Companion.

Hey !
I am not spamming anything, I want to send personalized SMS to my friends, relatives. etc.
I have to send around 250 SMS on this New Year and has made an excel containing the phone number and the personalized SMS.
Generally in India, people send standard SMS to everybody on such days but I just want to add my personal touch to it !!!
Spamming means to send standard SMS/emails to many recipients, but after reading your reply, it seems that your definition of spamming is very much different !!!
I do have Jeyo mobile, but copy and pasting each number and SMS will be bit difficult.
Hmmm,
I just wonder why you copied / wrote all the messages into an Excel sheet in first place?
As far as I remember, Outlook 2007 somehow supports sending out short messages - it has to be configured once but then it should work just fine.

I had not written all the SMS, just changed the standard SMS according to the person, like his/her name, saluation, etc. Basic text of all the SMS is same.
Excel provides tools like concanate, etc to create SMS with variable fields and that why I used it.
However I can convert that excel file onto .txt file also but the basic requirement remains the same, I want to send particular SMS to particular number only.
Jeyo Mobile Companion

Anyways I did the using Jeyo Mobile and manually copying and pasting each SMS there.
I opened this new thread as I know one software which can be used with CDMA handset to send SMS from excel and that software is free.
I used it and it works like a charm.
I thought there would be some software for GSM also.
But anyways all your help was appreciated !

SMS typing on PC

Does anybody know how can I type my SMSes on PC and send through my HTC?
I used to do that on my N95 and it was great, but I've never seen a winmo version of the same. The closest I have come is to use MyMobiler (http://www.mymobiler.com) which gives you remote control of the phone on your PC.
You can use i-nigma reader.
Then create a barcode and select SMS, you enter in the number and the text then scan it in.
It's pretty neat.

Or you could just post something that is 100% irrelevant to the question. Whatever.
Excuse me?
If you install the app 'i-nigma reader' from opnmarket or find it online. You can then create an SMS message on your PC using that link I supplied. It will then create a barcode which you scan in on your phone and you press send. It then sends it through your HTC, while writing it on your PC.
It's not irrelvant whatsoever. It's an extremely good app/alternative to what he wanted.
Thanks.
Korv's post of course is not irrelevant, but rather silly workaround (shame to HTC not Korv). Really weird that HTC/ WinMobile does not have the functionality that does have every mobile phone (

All you need
easiest is http://miqlive.com/
You just sync your phone and can send and receive in realtime sms!
and yes.....I use it with my HD2!
mymobiler works well just tried it and really easy to control your phone, didn't show hard buttons though and was slightly laggy, but very easy to type and send msgs quickly using the comp.
Also u can use:
Efficasoft Mobile Express v1.5.2
This sync SMSes and contacts with your phone and then u can create and send SMS from PC.

How send SMS from PC

Hey everyone,
my question is rather simple. Does anyone know of a program, that I could use to send text messages from the computer, rather than my touch pro 2?
Managing sms from the computer would be nice aswell, but it's not necessary.
Thanks a lot.

A quick bit of googling for FreeSMS 1.4.6 should point you in the right direction! I have no idea if its freeware or not!
Thanks...
But I was thinking more in the likes of this:
Microsoft Office Add-in: Microsoft Outlook SMS Add-in (MOSA)
(I can't post outside links)
Ideally, I would like a software, that connects to the TP2, gets all the texts, manages them and lets me write texts to phone numbers stored on the phone.
Hi again,
Yippie! I found one.
Here it goes:
Efficasoft Mobile Express
Moved as not software release.
Go to txt2day.com voila!

[Q] Desktop SMS application

Hi Gurus!
Is there any possibility exists to develop an desktop application to send and receive SMS for WP7 ??
Regards
I was actually thinking about making something like this, but there's a problem...A developer cannot send SMS or mail without user intervention, so all we can do is create the SMS, send it to the SMS function, and then the user has to press send himself. As far as I can see, it's not possible to automate it...
It can be automated if you write it as homebrew (ie. not for sale in the marketplace).
That said, this isn't something I would spend time on. I believe Microsoft has said they will bring back SMS sync to WP7 in which case you could send/receive directly from Outlook on the PC. Actually, I do this already as my carrier offers this as a free add-on service.

Guys, as of yet, we haven't figured out how to access the lower level SMS files. It probably won't be a reality for a while.. maybe until complete R/W filesystem access is achieved. At that point, you would have to make it device independent also which would increase the difficulty of doing such a thing. I would wait a while and monitor the threads discussing the different registry and filesystem findings before thinking of doing this. Right now it's a waste of time.
