USB Sync issues Vista mobile device center - Palm Treo 750

I have the latest Windows Vista Mobile Device Center installed (the new actviesync replacment) It was working great with my new Treo 750 for a few days. For some reason I can no longer establish a USB connection. Instead of the normal postive sounds (boo beep) you hear three (boo boo boo) when you plug it in. Also, why do you have to push the button on the USB cable before it does anything? My previous non Palm Windows Mobile devices didnt have that.
boo = low tone
beep = high tone
So again, no more boo beep, only a very quick boo-boo-boo. I still get the BEE boo when I unplug it or the phone shuts back off though. Shoot what heck is wrong? My ipaq 6900 had no issues on the same computer for many months.
I tried reinstalling Mobile Device Center
I tried a new USB port
I tried softresetting the Treo
What else should I check out before I try a hard reset?
Does anyone else have connection issues?
The connection issue sucks, because now I cant use PDANet for my USB internet connection as well.
Any advice?

I uninstalled PDANet from both windows vista and the treo
I uninstalled windows mobile device center (and the driver update) via control panel, pograms, remove
I rebooted windows vista (32 bit by the way)
I reinstalled windows mobile device center
I plugged in my treo 750, hit the button on the cord, boo BEEP
"USB Device Not Recognized One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message"
Ok, so my next task will be to test this on another Vista machine to rule out if it's the phone or windows that has the problem. :-/

I've got same problem, but I never sync treo with pc completly error is (Server is bussy) code 0x80072EFF
pc see my treo but don't sync contacts anything.
I was reinstall wmdc and make hard reset on treo ... it's terrible .. maybee wm6 will help.

media sync problems
I have no problems with WMDC using USB and Bluetooth. Sometimes I get an error but I just hit Sync and it syncs up.
I'm having problems when syncing media. The Treo disconnects after a few songs are synced so I have to remove the cable then plug it in again many times before a sync is complete.
Have you tried checking if WMDC is allowed through Windows Firewall?

S4czech,
Can you give a try for the tip described below :

Is My iPAQ Hosed?

Hi
Please forgive an OT posting from a newbie on this forum, but I have tried elsewhere with no results.
I have inherited an old iPAQ 3630 that I want to get going but am well stuck with the following problem.
New installation of XP Pro + SP2 from original media on modern P4 with motherboard BIOS at latest rev. All ports work OK with other devices.
Firewall OFF.
New installation of Outlook 2003.
No other software installed (e.g. AV).
Soft reset iPAQ.
Install ActiveSync 3.8 as Local Administrator.
At the Get Connected screen insert iPAQ into USB cradle, turn on and plug into USB port on the back of the computer.
Plug and Play does its thing and iPAQ appears correctly in Device Manager.
iPAQ briefly displays Connecting to Host.
On the host Get Connected screen disappears and ActiveSync icon appears in System Tray.
Open ActiveSync on host and the green thing rotates; ActiveSync says Connecting - forever.
The ActiveSync never connects to the iPAQ. Never get to set up a Partnership.
Tried two other computers, Windows 2000, Outlook 2000, ActiveSync 4.0, Serial Connection. Same problem.
Tried hard reset of the iPAQ.
I have never seen this iPAQ connected. I was assured it worked. It has had an upgrade to PPC 2002 at some time in its life.
I have tried a couple of other forums but just get responses stating the obvious. So I thought I'd try the real experts.
Any ideas please guys?

Windows Mobile Device Manager Problem, Can't sync VISTA with my HTC Universal

Hello!
I have a HTC Universal (hard reseted) and a laptop with a fresh installation of windows vista rc2 (5744).
I can't make vista install the appropriate drivers to be able to connect to HTC.
I can open WMDC but it keeps saying "not connected". When I connect my HTC to laptop, via USB, nothing happens. Seams that vista doesnt recognize my PPC. Onether thing, perhaps without importance, I tried to connect a flash disk Pen and nothing happened either! It seams that Plug and Play device discovery is not functioning on vista. Is it normal?
Can anyone help me?
Thanks a lot!

Plug and play issue on vista?
Hi!
I'm having problems with instalation of HTC and Vista Windows Mobile Device Manager!
The device is not recognized by Vista, I mean, I connect the USB cable to laptop and nothing happens! But I can open WMDC but always says "not connected".
The wierdest thing is that I've connected 3 Pen Drives and nothing happened too!
Is this a general issue problem with Plug and Play discovering devices or is this nonsense and not related?
Please help! I'm getting desperate!

USB Issue
If you can't access a pen-drive then you probably have a driver issue with regards to your USB ports and will be unable to access your Windows Mobile device via USB. If you have bluetooth you might want to try connecting via that. The general Beta release only has basic support for WM devices (There will either be a seperate download or it might make the gold code) if you are part of the vista beta you can download the enhanced support (duplicates ActiveSync functionality) from the connect site.

Windows Mobile device Center on Vista has gone mad!

Hi!
I want to sync my HTC Artemis with my Vista Laptop.
The problem is that I cannot open Windows Mobile Device Center on Windows Vista.
When I run it, theres only this Connection settings dialog appearing... everytime i open it! Normally there should pop up this bigger green nice designed window with many function (one of them the connection settings)
So I can nothing do!!
Though I can connect to my phone by USB and Bluetooth (I can browse the files on the device) I cannot set up WM Device Center to pair for a Sync connection.
It is also strange that all my contacts, etc. were gone when I tried this first.
I think this is because I had my device still paired but installed Vista new on my Laptop.
Can anybody help me?
you should search first grasshopper, or atleast check the second page of this forum.

I have outlook installed
new installation of WMDC helped! thank you very much!!

s710 connects on Vista but not XP ?

Well, did a successful reflash from E650 to S710. Played with it a bit on my work machine thats Vista'ed. Now, i bring it home, plug it into XP machine and nothing...nada. ActiveSync 4.5 is installed (like 5 times over...). What gives ? Device is shown as connected in device manager.
*SORTED*
Disabled "advenced networking" thingamy in settings>connections>USB2PC and it started to sync as it was supposed to.
Before that tried to mess with firewalls, netlimiter, but that was not the problem apparently...

WMDC doesn't create a new partnership on Windows 7 [SOLVED]

Hello,
After I created a new install of Windows 7, I'm not able to sync my Touch Pro.
If I boot on my previous Windows 7 installation (I kept it on the same computer), sync is OK.
I uninstalled (and reinstalled) many times WMDC, "PocketPC USB sync" and "Windows Mobile Remote Adapter" drivers.
There is some trouble : obviously WMDC doesn't recognize my device.
Both "USB to PC" modes are not able to start WMDC.
Any help?
If you have the Pro version, you should be able to run a virtualized instance of XP, and therefore set it up under as ActiveSync in XP. That is with the official release from what we trained on, 22nd is that date... This allows ANY program to run that was supported by XP 100%
I'm using Windows 7 on my laptop and PC, sync with TP no problem at all. I've done installation on few computers too and they are all good. Things that you might check:
- Check your USB Sync cables and/or your USB port, just to make sure
- Open Windows Mobile Device Center and delete all partnership, then reconnect back
- If possible, try to change your TP ID, so that Windows recognize different device.
Hope it helps.
To supratt93 :
Good idea I'm going to try this
To u2pop :
- I've 2 Win7 installed with a boot selector. Sync works with the forst one and not with the other one, so the cables and USB ports are OK.
- I have never been able to create a partnership. Win7 installed the drivers and WMDC never started. Something goes wrong with the installation of the drivers
- Sometimes I receive a message telling me about a problem with installed drivers (nothing about which device is concerned)
I solved my problem today:
After a reinstallation of the last chipset drivers of my Asus P5k motherboard and a reboot, WMDC started and allowed me to sync my Touch Pro.
I hope that will help someone!
I know that this is solved, however I had the same problem.
I reinstalled WMDC, etc.
In the end a simple swap of the usb port that the USB cable was plugged into and it solved the problem.
