As posted in the announcements by Flar:
1. Search before posting
Use one of our search functions before posting, whether you have a question or something new to share, it's very likely someone already asked that question or shared that news.
2. Be polite and respect your fellow xda-dev user.
There is no need for cursing, flaming, racism or personal attacks. There are a lot of different nationalities on this forum all with different cultures, this means that no matter what you're like, you'll have to adjust to people that are most definitely not like you. It will gain you a lot of respect if you help to keep the peace. It's disrespectful and therefore not permitted to create Alias Member names in an attempt to deceive others.
3. Post only using a clear subject and message.
You're most likely to receive a helpful answer to your question if you use a short subject title that describes your problem and a message that explains in detail what your problem is and what you've tried to solve it.
4. Use the English language.
We understand that with all the different nationalities not everyone speaks English well, but please try. If you're really unable to post in English use an online translator, You're free to include your original message in your own language below the English translation.
5. Post a message only once.
As a large forum we don't need unnecessary clutter, You're free to edit your message as you like, so if you do not receive an answer revisit your message and see if you can describe your problem better. Not everyone is online at the same time, it might take a while before you receive an answer.
6. Do not post warez.
If a piece of software requires you to pay to use it, either pay or find your cracks and serials somewhere else. We do not accept warez nor do we permit any member to promote or describe ways in which Warez, cracks, serial codes or other means of avoiding payment, can be obtained.
7. Do not spam.
If you wish to advertise a product, contact us we provide ads. But do not post it in the forums, it will be removed and you're likely to receive a ban.
You are however allowed to sell used goods like your own device, parts of your device or accessories for your device in the marketplace forum, please read the rules there before posting.
8. Donations.
We appreciate all donations to xda-developers.com, it keeps our forum online and well maintained. As a user you're allowed to ask for donations in your signature as a thank you for your hard work. However donations up front are not allowed, this forum is about sharing, not about getting paid to do something, that's what your job is for.
9. Don't get us in trouble.
Don't post copyrighted materials or do other things that will obviously lead to legal trouble. If you wouldn't do it on your own homepage, you probably don't want to do it here either. This does not mean we agree with everything the software piracy lobby try to impose on us, it simply means you cannot break any laws here, since we'll end up dealing with legal hassle caused by you. Please use common sense: respect the forum, its users, and those that write great code.
10. Help others if you can.
If you see posts from others where you can help out, please do. This place exists because people are helping each other, and even if you are relatively new to the matter, there's probably already quite a few people newer than you that would benefit from what you've learned. Don't be shy.
Er Joel...
Arn't there two stickies for this already. One by Peter and one by Vijay?
I've put the thread in the moderation queue for now so only we can see it
Dave
must have missed it
Just posted it thinking it needed a permanent location for signature linkers (didn't realize they updated peters post) i'll leave this up so you can see my response.... but you are more than welcome to delete
Thanks for the heads up
What's up Techies? What I was wondering - is where the line is drawn? How do you know your are commiting the action or process with what files?
From what I gather it is the illegal distribution Of copyrighted materials. I was reading and it seemed a guy just mentioned a program and he was chastised and boom thread closed. He may have posted a link and I didn't realize - I can't find the thread again, I was just meandering about the forums....
Mr. Clown shut his arse down though... And a couple other tech peeps were like hey bro, no no...
Just Wondering.

Wikipedia said:
Warez refers primarily to copyrighted works distributed without fees or royalties, and may be traded, in general violation of copyright law. The term generally refers to unauthorized releases by organized groups, as opposed to file sharing between friends or large groups of people with similar interest using a darknet. It usually does not refer to commercial software counterfeiting.

That sums it up.
Ok. So posting a link to help someone out would be ok, so long as its not copyrighted I guess?
Appreciate it.

The way I've always looked at warez was... Is it full version, not beta or trial, and are you paying for it?
In other words, are you downloading something that you'd otherwise have to pay for in order to use?
Links to sources of that kind of material, even though it is not an actual warez item, are just as bad.
Inspired Ace 1.0.1¦ XDA Premium
Warez is obtaining paid software for free or circumventing ways to pay for it. Providing links to sites/materials is just as bad and won't fly here.
We all need to read the Stickies, too. This is discussed in there. I think the post you referred to was asking for Warez, which is taboo here at XDA. The history is that access to, and discussions of, Warez\Pirated software threatened to shut down XDA several years ago. Imagine what life would be like without XDA.
Warez talks (solicitating links, request, posting, discussion or any talk) by any kind in threads or PM's will be shut down
@ Everybody - Rock On and thanks. That's a big ten four. Glad I asked...

Hi Guys,
I am opening this thread for discussion on the ever growing problem of some users in this forum breaking the warez rules here on Xda.
My warning here seems to be doing no good as there has been now many users banned or perm banned and totally ignoring it, although more the fool them for risking it.
So, if any of you want to contribute to a discussion on this then i am all ears also if you have been banned or infracted then give your views on why you did it as i would like to know why you did it?
Look forward to your replies guys and your thoughts on this topic.

Maybe you have a problem understanding what Warez is then as i have looked at your proflile and you have 2 infractions against your name. One was for asking for somebody to upload you a paid app and the other for posting a link where you could download paid games for free.
Please read the warez rule and tell me which part you do not understand??

No, high traffic forums have 2 but all forums across the board are looked over by senior moderators from time to time and they are always at hand.
can we evading the rule by Google "abcxyz mediafire" . I dont blame mediafire but the trust is mediafire have alot of paid apk
Or sent though private ms
Or just say "Go and buy it"
I guess, Private Messaging is fine and nothing beats telling them to buy it...
@colussus
Please clarify the google bit?

Just say "go and buy it" it is as simple as that, suggesting ways of finding it falls in the rules.
What nobody has explained to me is why this forum is far worse than any other i cover?
I get no joy in banning users, mostly all of us are here for the love tech and i am no different to you. Banning somebody for breaking this rule is dis-heartening as it can easily be prevented but i am confused why so many ignore the rules and warnings??
One guy yesterday started a thread here breaking the warez rules, he had already been infracted for this previously, i closed it and infracted him and his response was to start opening more and more so in the end got a months ban. How pointless was that??
- May be create an account is too easy so people dont care about rule
- trying to sabotage XDA
Just go over these suggestions please.
- maybe you could add some filters that will prevent people with less than say 10 posts from posting a URL?
- Maybe the first 10 posts need to be approved by a moderator?

Any ideas are welcome buddy and thankyou for your input. Your 10 posts before being allowed to posts a URL seems a good idea and i will check that out with admin.
Do you guys think the Warez rule no 6 wants making clearer, do you think that maybe this is a problem for some or do you think the ones who keep breaking it just do not care??

Yes, there will always be users who join just to cause havoc, i think you will find that in most forums but they soon show on our radar and are given the boot very quickly.

yes, it could be a little clearer.....
i was infracted for just mentioning about a warez software (no link or anything else whatsoever)....but i hadnt read the rules earlier so i kinda deserved that for ignorance....
after i read the rules, it says that "do not post warez"....instead it could be a little more wide...
like "do not ask for warez, nor help any one with warez...if you see a thread/post which contains direct download link for a software/game/app which requires you to pay/buy it for its use, then please report it"
^^just my suggestion...making them a little more clearer should help....
btw what are the infraction points u need for a temp ban and a permanent ban?
afaik 15 points means a temp ban if you're a senior member.
I think also, no 6 could be clearer and in its effect "stronger". To say, "We do not accept warez nor do we permit any member to promote or describe ways in which Warez, cracks, serial codes or other means of avoiding payment, can be obtained." without an effect, which has very often no direct reaction, is too weak. For example, Aspire's suggestions should have regarded to.
Ah well first of all thanks for making thus topic. To answer your question well the people that come to this specific forum are in the age of 14 to 18 and are mainly noobs who have no idea about what rules are I have also moderated one of the big communities in orkut and I now what its like to handle such a vast variety of people from noobs (just saying) to developers. And about solving the problem well its one hell of a task and can hardly be achieved. But some strict rules should be applied to this forum

Xda is here to help and support developers, how publishing a guide on how to steal the developers hard work supporting developers?
It is against XDA rules read them and you would have gotten your answer
ok got it man
btw i'm a developer myself and i hack others work for leisure time
btw2 hacking helps developers finding weak points in their apps
btw3 hacking is not about stealing others work, otherwise it could've been easier for me to post cracked apps on warez sites and get credit for it..

Sure but why not work with the developers, talk about there weak points and not let a large user base steal there work....
because one developer once put a text file inside his published apk saying "hello hackers"
he will regret this forever
no seriuously hacking uses known (or new) exploits for any given platform, so pointing it out will help bring that platform better (except for windows because microsoft )
One way or another its against XDA rules

I suppose that we should be grateful you asked beforehand, however had you read the forum rules or even used a little common sense you could have answered your own question.
Warez is not tolerated here at XDA developer and neither is discussion of it.

Okay, so, basically im tired of these games where chinese players are clearly hacking, (unless theyre actually spending $20k a month), to win the games, while me and friends dish out over $200/wk on games like this. Its ridiculous. I can send all tje screenshots i want to in-game support staff to prove cheating, but the dont do anything. Half the time not even reoly. So, im coming to the best place i know, filled with the best developers on earth, the XDA forums. (Was that enough buttering up? I can keep going lol).
So anyways, ive looked into an app called "APK Editor" (not pro version because ive heard its the same as free), and im hoping there is a way to hack the gake with it. I mean i can easily enough do the simple things like edit images, sounds, songs, etc etc... but finding it difficult to find where i might be able to change in game values, or bypass google play services to give me those gold packs for free.
Overall im just tired of throwing money into a game where chinese hackers have found ways to cheat and win every time. Any help would be great. Thanks
Apologies for any typos above, was rushing.
Still pretty new here, dont know if bumping posts is acceptable. But heres a bump.
