Do any of the current roms have this included? If not where can i install it?
Thanks
question is, how to UNINSTALL it...
That's the SQM not SQL ... little confusion
If I'm not mistaken ... something like Service Quality Module...Management ..whatever
According to one of the cookers they removed the SQL (SQL Server) Mobile from the ROM to allow other apps to be added.
I seem to have it in my rom.
Actually it comes from mun, because I used his aRTM as a base.
Although I don't know if it's functionall and how to test that.
SQL Mobile is included in all official WM6 (Professional) releases and provides a framework for databases to communicate on PPC devices. It is NOT needed by most casual PPC users as most of the applications that require it are enterprise related and built for specific functions. Hence, why my ROM release was named "Business Edition". It can be removed quite easily, but it has an EXTENSIVE registry presence. It is included as a package in the registry I think, so perhaps this can be removed in double_ofour's new kitchen.

I agree with the "EXTENSIVE registry presence"
It's alot of it in there.
Is SQLCE the same thing? If so, that comes (the runtime) with Pocket e-Sword (Bible program) as I have to install that on my phone to use it. Its part of the install (and in the add remove programs shows up as a seperate install from e-sword itself so you can install, then uninstall e-sword if you don't want it).

Should be the same ...
SQL .CE
That file should not be removed (sqlce30). It has a different function.
sql ce is not SQL Mobile.

Ok I have done quite a bit of trial and testing before posting this and feel now is the time.
I have installed and tested a good number or custom WM6 roms. See list below:
NBD 7.9
NBD 8.0
NBD 8.1
NBD 8.2
NBD 8.3
NBD 9.0
NBD 9.1
OCTAIVOI's Wizard 3.2
OCTAIVOI's Wizard 4.5
TNT 4.0 Professional
Black Diamond 2.0 Touch
faria-htc wizard...WWE WM6 ROM- [the real thing]
Windows Mobile 6 - Titanium 2 (WM6Ti)
I love flashing new WM6 roms and testing them out but I also rely heavily on 3rd party software that I have to install after the flashing is complete. For every one of these roms mentioned above, I have experienced performance issues(slows down to a crawl) when installing larger amounts of 3rd party software not included in rom.
On thie flip side, when I install T-Mobile's official WM5 rom and then install large amounts of 3rd party software, the performance of the phone isn't affected in the least.
What I would like to see, is a custom WM6 rom with the performance of WM5 after installing large amounts of software. I believe the only way to do this is to change the page pool to 12mb because other than software installed, the pagepool is pretty much the only difference between these WM6 roms and and official WM5 rom I downloaded from T-Mobile.
Here is what I install on every rom I use:
Wisbar Advance 2
Palm Threaded SMS (WM5 or WM6 depending on what rom I am using)
Inesoft Address Book
Resco Explorer
Resco Registry Add-in
Resco Keyboard pro
Batterystatus
Weatherpanel
Chronos
Coreplayer
For WM5 roms I also install:
Touch WMP skin
HTC audio manager
Touch syle dialpad skin
10 button comm manager
When I am running T-Mobile WM5 then installing all of these programs does not impede the performance of the phone whatsoever but every WM6 rom I have tried to date has slowed down to a crawl when installing this software. I dont understand why... It just does.
Right now I dont even have all of my software installed. This is all the software I have installed, not already included in rom:
Wisbar Advance 2
Inesoft Address Book
WM6 Palm Threaded SMS
Thats it and it is running so slow I can't stand it...
of course will find WM 5.0 more stable than WM 6.0 if you install all of these 3rd party apps, WM 5.0 compatibles with all the Apps listed, not like WM 6.0.
- What you have to do??
- find the app effecting on WM6.0 and replace it with newer version (if available).

That sounds like a good idea but when it comes down to it, most of the software I use isn't really available for WM6 yet. For example: Wisbar Advance 2 and Inesoft Address Book.

i didn't read correctly, are you using Inesoft Address Book!! it is the most effector on the system (at least WM 6.0).
we are looking for many of 3rd party applications we are not really using them, so revise yourself and check out the most important apps for your really using and install them, test this thing for a week, then you will know which important, the stability or too many apps .
thats not means i'm not a 3rd party applications user

I am going to try installing Windows Mobile 6 Titanium 2 again and install 1 app per day untill I find the one that is killing the performance of the rom. Thanks for the idea.
hey everyone
first of all i would like to congratulate Dr. Martin Gonzo for his amazing ROM.
now, since i've seen that many people have already tried and are currently using his rom, you definitely have some of your other apps instaled
what i would like to know is:
wich apps do you think work best with the Windows Mobile 6.1 version
or that you find them practical or indespensable
if you can, put a thumbnail of you 6.1 screen
would like to see come cool backgrounds with the 6.1
please share the links if possible
cheers everyone
there is a best apps thread here for wm6.0.
i guess it should be pretty much the same applications for wm6.1 also.
Check out the CHome Configurator. It'll let you customize your sliding panel home screen easily. Here's the link to the excalibur thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=393104
Total Commander, Its got to be the best Freeware File Manager for Windows Mobile. It allows you to work with files in ROM unlike File Explorer, allows you to edit the registry and even has an ftp client built in.

There should be an option to turn off the notificaition, under your personal settings.

Lots of free apps for every need.
Now here's a small installation guide so you don't leave comments on the site asking for help installing:
CAB files - Put directly on your device (or on your memory card) and find it in File Explorer then click on it.
TSK files - These are themes. They work just like CABs.
EXE files - Some will run from your computer (most of them) and others will run from your devices. The latter require no installation, there is just the executable and nothing else (generally).
I know how customize and basic programing, but I can't know how use the OPERATOR and the FAVERS.
1- Where i found one "Manilla 2D how to"?
2- How I can use home plug-ins like batery monitor, or touch shell? I use the Touch Flow Detacher, but i can't config plug-ins! (M2DC and M2D Dev is instaled too)
3- No one jar or jad files run under MIDlet Manager, have one best java running enviroment to run java under wm6.1 I create one appz in java mobile and run into java device emulator, but don't run into real device with MIDlet Manager? (SUPERWABA VM is instaled too)
4- CAUTION ALL have one trojan running into devices with WinMobile, I was invaded when I reinstal my antivirus today, the S.M.F. (seek m... f...) delet all my storage card, but my W.M.D.C. (Windows Mobile Device Center) restore all files, but i needed reinstall all appz.
LONG LIVE A FREE WORLD, DAMNED ALL TROJANS AND MALWARES PLAGES, AND ITS CREATORS.
I just bought a Windows CE 6.0 device called the A81 MID that has the following specs
7 inch 800x480 lcd screen
Arm Cortex A8 600mhz
256mb ram
WinCE 6.0
I bought this thinking since i can use alot of wince apps on WM phones it would work the other way around too
Im trying to install Skyfire and Opera on the device because IE sucks on this device.
Every time I try to install a .cab ile I get the error "not a valid windows ce setup file"
Whats strange is that a lot of programs i have that is designed to run on WinCE won't open on 6.0 either
one example was FinalBurn CE .14, nothing happens when i open the .exe
Even the classic CAB installer to manage cabs from self destructing when installing fails to open and gives me the error "not a valid windows CE application"
Is this problem unique to this device or to WinCE 6.0?
The CAB files include some information saying on which platform and/or version of the OS it can be installed. IMO this is the only issue that prevents the application to be installed on your notebook, and this will also result in the error message you wrote. It's the same message that appears for instance when you try to install an application that requires WM 6 on a PPC 2003 device.
Since WM is based on Windows CE it's usually no problem running WM applications on Windows CE, unless you don't access any telephony APIs or any other similar stuff explicitly available only on the WM platforms.
So you can just go ahead and extract the files and registry settings from the CAB and install them manually, or re-create the CAB with different version requirements. If it doesn't work then I dare to say it's 100% the reason that some special WM APIs are used.
I managed to run some WM application on a Windows CE emulator. They are actually working fine, though the GUI doesn't look very good because they are optimized for Mobile phone screens and not adapted to the Windows CE "Desktop" OS.
I also have a Windows CE notebook and I'm planing on porting Nitrogen to it. If I have the time. Some day. Eventually. Yes.
Edit: problem of some WinCE applications not running on your machine might be that they are designed for WinCE 5. WinCE 6 has a re-designed kernel and some APIs are obsolete.... It's the same problem that will happen when we'll be switching from WM 6 to WM 7.
any ideas on how i can extract the registry and files? ive tried a couple of cab extractor and they all end up giving files with weird names and extensions such as skyfir34580.001 and other rubbish like that. Winrar gives me even worst filenames. is there any kind of tutorial you can point me too? i have no programing skills so porting would be way over my head.
have you had anyluck installing skyfire 1.5 or opera 10 on a wince device? also have you ever gotten finalburn to run on your wince devices?
search for MSCEInfEn

thx for the explication RAMMANN --
i plan to buy a windows ce '7" mini netbook' and i want to use all WM6/6 progs from PPC (if hardware supports it, of course)
