Bootloader - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 Software Upgrading

Hi! Can someone thell me how to upgrade bootloader&

What's wrong with the one you have or this a killing question?

You can't upgrade the bootloader, it comes with a ROM. I have no idea why you find it necessary to upgrade the bootloader since it has nothing to do with the OS it loads - in fact, I'd rather upgrade just the ROM alone if I could. New bootloaders tend to have additional, unwanted restrictions in place...

I've tried to upgrade my device, but my little brother've pressed "reset", and all process of upgrading was stopped. Now I've magician only with bootloader, and when I'm trying to flash it, it buzzes
.In my oppinion there is only one way to fix it - reflashing bootloader.

New to ROM update, need help

Hi all,
I have read alot of your articles to update to WM 6.5. I have a Palm Treo 750I downloaded the CeetahUnlocker.exe and the Cheeimg.nbh. I ran the CeetahUnlocker.exe and clicked on the "Flash SPL" which after my second try worked fine. My phone boots with the Palm logo and not the AT&T logo it initially had. The other thing when I hold the media key and do a soft reset the phone enters the Bootloader program, therefore I think the "Flash SPL" went okay. The problem I am having is that the second step "Unlock Radio" does not work that is a ERROR message happens after the phone goes into the Bootloader mode. Can you guys tell me If my phone was unlocked to use my local carrier do I have to unlock the radio ect. Please help as this is becoming very fustrating.
thank you in advance
Anthony
Come on guys... anyone, someone pls help...
Hi, u just need to use the Athena_unlocker at that point to unlock ur carrier and thats it
I bought my phone unlock so do I still need to do this. Their are 2 Carrier in my country and I can use the simm card of anyone of them...
If your phone was unlocked, then you don't need to do it again. Flashing ROMs using Hard SPL will not change its status in that regard.
Can you tell me then the steps for updtaing to WM 6.5 please
Assuming you have correctly run the HardSPL, there are many threads in this section that describe how to flash a ROM, so there's no reason to re-hash the instructions yet again here.
Pick your preferred version of WM6.5 (keeping in mind they all still have major bugs) and flash it. If you don't like it, then keep trying until you find one you like.
The WM6.1 ROM is the most stable and bug free however, just as an FYI. The WM6.5 ROMs are fun to play with, but I wouldn't recommend them as a permanent install for most people unless the known bugs don't affect functions you regularly use.

Do you have it developer unlocked first?
HTC Have 2 OEM Update after Mango
if you updated your Phone with Second OEM Update, you can not Interop Unlock your phone
yes i have a dev account from app hub.
how do i find out if im running second oem? do you have the build number handy? the os version i have is 7.10.7720.68
It's not the OS build number, people. HTC controls the firmware number, not the OS number (that's Microsoft code). 7720.68 just means the RTM release of Mango. I swear, I write this so often...
If the third digit grouping of your firmware starts with 4 - that is, if your firmware version matches *.*.4XXXX.* - or lower, you can use the HTC Interop Unlock XAP. It *might* even be possible with *.*.50XXX.*, but I don't think so, and it certainly isn't possible with *.*.51XXX.* or newer.
well that helps a lot, ya my firmware shows 51004. so are there any workarounds as of yet?
The only work-around I know of is to downgrade. You can roll back a Zune restore point from before the firmware update(s) was installed, interop-unlock, and then reinstall the updates if you want (I've elected to semi-permanently keep my phone a few versions outdated on firmware). You could also flash a stock ROM that includes an older firmware. Be aware, however, that either option will lose some data - everything newer than the backup if you restore, everything on the phone if you flash a stock ROM.

Hey thanks for the information, I was wondering if there were any guides you can point me to on how to flash from a stock ROM. I have an HTC HD7.
Thanks again for your help. i know sometimes its tiring explaining the same thing over and over, but it is much appreciated.
Go to the HD7 ("Schubert") portion of the XDA-Devs wiki (http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki). I'm pretty sure you can find the download links for stock ROMs there. You could also try the HD7-specific forum section. You'll download a tool called a RUU (ROM Update Utility) that will have some image files (extensions like .NBH and .NB) along with it. You put the phone in bootloader mode (four bars of different color - you have to boot the phone while holding the Volume Down button). It should have yellow text, and at the bottom should say "Serial". Connect the phone to USB. Your PC will need to install a driver (normally this will happen automatically, if not, use Device Manager to tell the computer to search Windows Update for the driver). Once the driver is installed, the "Serial" will be replaced by "USB". You can now run the RUU program.
I *strongly* recommend creating a backup first! The RUU will wipe all data on the phone, and if the flash fails for whatever reason, you'll be unable to boot the phone again.
Ok Thanks, That was helpful. i read a few guides and I think Im ready to try. i just wanted to ask a quick question before diving in. Hope you dont mind. Some threads make refrences to certain Bootloaders being unable to go through the downgrade process (by flashing a Stock Rom). Is this correct? My bootloader version is:
5.10.2250.0(132968)
If it doesnt matter than are there any other things that would prevent me from doing this process?
And one more question and I promise to leave you alone lol. I plan on backing up my phone before beginning, but if the flash fails for whatever reason and the phone is unable to boot again as you warned, will I still be able to connect it to Zune and restore my backup? Thanks again. Hopefullyone day I can give more to the community once I get used to it.
Booting the phone while holding the Camera button will put it in backup/restore mode. If you connect the phone to the PC while it is in this mode, and the Zune software is running, it should automaticlaly try to restore.
Your bootloader (SPL) version is too high to install HSPL (needed for custom ROMs), and it's high enough that it won't automatically downgrade just by installing a stock ROM. However, you should be able to install the other parts of a stock ROM (in particular, the firmware) just fine.
If needed, there are a couple ways to downgrade the SPL; search the dev&hacking sub-forum for info. I would generally recommend GoldCard, but that will require a little bit of equipment. Apparently, "SLSPL" flashing will allow you to downgrade the SPL safely as well, though I haven't tried it. These are mostly for preparing to install a custom ROM, though - stock ROMs should be installable on any SPL version.
it not work with my trophy verizon

Flashing Custom ROM's on WP7

hey guys, really noob question.
im running Mango on my HTC HD7 and im thinking of flashing nextgen+ 3.1 onto it. i was wondering, do i have to revert to NoDo before i get HSPL/RSPL, then flash the ROM? im just not sure about the order. but the main question, can i do it on mango, or is it better to revert to nodo? thanks
The existing OS is irrelevant when you flash a new one. That's more-or-less the point of flashing a new OS; may as well ask if you need to downgrade from Win7 to XP before you reformat your hard drive and install Linux (very roughly analogous).
The original SPL (bootloader) on the phone is *critical* before you install RSPL/HSPL though; the newer bootloaders will break semi-permanently (it's a total pain to recover them) if you try to unlock the bootloader. You should read the HSPL info very carefully. You will almost certainly need to downgrade your bootloader, and there are various ways you can do that depending on what version you currently have.
k thanks, and how do i figure out which version i have of the bootloader? is it the reboot while holding down volume down? if so, what do i look for?
also, how would i downgrade the bootloader if i do decide to flash another rom? one more thing too, im assuming i would lose all of my apps, SMS, email settings etc. ?
Your SPL (bootloader) version is shown in About, along with your firmware and radio versions (under More). It is also shown on the screen with the colored horizontal bands, which is (I believe) the only you referred to.
You need SPL 3.1 or lower to use HSPL. If you have 4.x, I believe you can download by simply installing a stock 3.1 SPL update (look for a radio ROM for your phone, and remove the radio part, just flash the SPL part). If you have 5.x, you'll need to try something like SL SPL. I don't know much about that whole area of WP7; I focus on apps, unlocks, and features for stock ROMs.
Flashing a custom ROM will wipe your phone, yes.

[Q] Please help??

Hey, I have a HTC surround running windows 7.5 the os version is 7.10.7720.68
And I recently have tried to developer unlock my phone using chevronwp7.
But everytime I press unlock, it says I'm having problems connecting to your device, make sure it is pin unlocked and Zune is running; which it is. Can someone PLEASE guide me in the right direction? Thank you guys so much
Zune must be closed and your HTC should not be on the lock screen
Wrong thread!
I thought Zune must be OPEN. Anyways, I tried it without and it didn't work. Is my phone os too new? What else can I do? Thanks so much for your reply too

Have you installed Windows Phone SDK?
Have you installed Windows Phone Support Tool?
Have you installed Microsoft .NET Framework 4?
If yes read here ChevronWP7 Labs FAQ or contact support Chevron for solve your problem
Okay I'm still very new to windows phone 7, as I stated, I have wp7.5, os:7.10.7720.68.I have boot loader: 4.3.2250.0(128976). can someone please tell me how I would go about flashing a stock ruu? Do I have to mess with rspl/hspl yet? Please can someone help? I'm sorry for taking your time as well. Thank you much.
And also, sorry for being such a dreaded noob, but what application should I install for the bootloader mode when connect my surround in? Im on windows xp. Thanks again so much, I don't know what I would do without you guys.
Okayyyyy... a few things.
First. it looks like you're trying to use the original ChevronWP7 unlock. That tool is dead, and has been for over a year (it only worked on pre-NoDo ROMs). This is well documented. I'm not sure why people keep trying it... you'd think they'd read up a little before trying to use a hack on their phone.
Second. Why do you want to flash a stock ROM? (RUU = ROM Update Utility) In any case, the procedure is simple: turn the phone off, hold the Volume Down button, press Power to start the phone again. It'll boot to a screen with bands of color and yellow text. Next, connect it to the PC. You'll need the relevant drivers; Vista and up will install them automatically but for some reason you're still running an 11-year-old OS on your PC so you might need to install them manually (I think they are included with the Windows Mobile Device Center download from Microsoft). The phone should say USB at the bottom when it's connected; at that point just run the RUU program.
Thrid. RSPL / HSPL are replacement bootloaders for WP7. They allow installing custom ROMs. If you want to do that, you'll need to first downgrade your current bootloader; SPL 4.3 is too high for using RSPL. Since you're not on SPL 5.X yet, I think you can downgrade just by installing an older stock ROM or radio update. Otherwise, there are a number of guides for how to downgrade the SPL.
That's the reason I need to downgrade lol thanks
By chance, do you know the new way to unlock or do I have to flash a custom rom? Thanks
You are on a developer-locked HTC phone? The first option is to try getting dev-unlocked, for example by getting an AppHub account or a friend who has one. They're free for students (go through Dreamspark). The second option is to use a custom ROM. The third option is to wait until a new hack is found.
Once you're dev-unlocked, you can use the Interop-Unlock app from Heathcliff74 (the HTC one, specifically) to allow unlimited sideloading. Then, you can install WP7 Root Tools 0.9 to get nearly full access to the device.
Thanks so much. Will report back with results.
So sorry, but I did all the research I could and couldn't find an updated method of going through dreamspark. I registered and man I hate myself for this, but can anyone help me please?
EDIT: I am enjoying interop unlock on intrinsic ROM and I love it!!! Thank you all so much for your help! My next and hopefully last question is, is it okay to update my radio while I have hspl? Or do I have to ospl first thanks!

[Q] bootmanager problem HTC HD7

I have a problem on my HTC HD7. I tried to flash the Rom and the process didn't go well.. Now on the bootmanager (colored screen) is not written serial or usb in the bottom and my PC doesn't recognise it in this mode, but zune recognise it when it's Turned on. How can I solve that problem?
P.S. I had another problem, my device rebooted automatically sometimes.. And it show me a message "Storage card did non work"
Thank you
Franci4396
Were you trying to flash a custom ROM? There's a very clear warning on the RSPL program not to use it on bootloader (SPL) versions 4 or greater. It sounds like you had version 4, based ont eh error you report...
The best way that I know of to fix the problem is GoldCard, though installing an official update CAB that includes a new bootloader (basically, any HTC firmware CAB for your phone) has been reported to work too.
The "storage card" error sounds like there's a problem with the internal microSD that the HD7 uses to store data. They come loose sometimes. You can replace that card, but getting to it without voiding your phone's warranty is difficult. If you're already out of warranty, though, it's not too hard if you have a set of small screwdrivers.
Can you give me a goldcard cab site??
For either GoldCard or a suitable update CAB (they are *not* the same thing), search the dev&hacking sub-forum. You'll need an OEM CAB that is for your phone and newer than your current firmware, if you want to go that route. Note, however, that it will lock your bootloader down even more. You can't flash right now anyhow, so unless you just want to flash a stock ROM I wouldn't bother fixing the bootloader that way.
