New Beta of Windows Live Messnger for WM5 - General Topics

I saw posted in another thread that a new version of the Beta for Windows Live Messenger exists. Can someone post the Smartphone version here?
The current SP version expired April 1st and is no longer useable.
If Windows Live adds Calendar sync support, that would make it a must have utility and boost the usability of the Live Calendar.

It has been posted here:

How to detect support for Exchange 2007 SP1 (ActiveSync Protocol v12.1)

Hi,
Does anyone know how to detect which AS protocol version is installed on a Mobile 6 Pro device? The 'new' features in Exchange 2007 SP1 require an updated protocol 12.1 and Mobile 6 came with 12.0 as standard.
We want to use some Polaris', but can't get a definate answer on this.
Is there any way to check it on the phone? Anyway to upgrade existing phones (Hermes, Kaiser)?
Any help appreciated!
George.
Sorry to be so obnoxious and on my first post (in 15 months), but I could really use some help.

HTC Touch Cruise with XDA-developers ROM

Hello all,
I'm totally new to this so please be a little patient with me.
Last week I bought a second hand HTC Touch Cruise. After playing a while and learning hoe to use I noticed some discrepancies between the software and the manual.
In ROM settings I found:
Released at XDA-developers.com
Polaris (Build 0.60)
(c)2007 bepe @ Polaris Project
Thanks to: maimach, ...
Edition: Full
ROM date: 17.03.2008
Build time: 15:11:29
My questions:
1. So this is not an original Windows Mobile 6.1?
2. Should I upgrade this, if yes: how?
3. I'm missing the Windows Live Messenger
4. I totally do not like the Opera Browser, but this seams fixed and automatically being used
5. Windows Update is gone; do I miss something there
6. Is it possible to go back to the original Windows? And what would I miss with that?
Thanks for your patience, and hopefully someone can guide me through this.
Greetings,

Yes, you have a custom version of Windows Mobile installed on your device. HTC has not yet released a Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM for the Touch Cruise yet. From factory, they all come with Windows Mobile 6.0 installed. The factory version has Pocket IE setup as the default browser, along with Opera 8.65 installed. Also, the factory version does not have threaded SMS and zooming in IE, since those are features of WM6.1, not WM6.0. If I were in your shoes, I'd keep the Bepe ROM just a little while longer as the official HTC WM6.1 release should (fingers crossed) be here any day now. I'd upgrade to that, instead of going back the the official WM6.0 ROM at this point only to upgrade to the official ROM when its released shortly.
Also, you might want to go to Opera.com and download the Opera Mobile 9.5 Beta. Its a much improved browser akin to the iPhone Safari experience.
Hello,
Thanks for your advice.
Yes, I will wait.
I installed the Opera 9.5beta, but I still get the problem of extreme miniaturized webpages, so I will stick to IE for now.
What about Live Messenger? I cannot get int from the Microsoft site. Is it available here?
Thanks, Arnie
Hi -- the legwork for all your questions has already been completed -- try out the forum search feature, it works very well.

Do some browsing around these forums and you'll discover a lot. A search for Live messenger cab will reveal some download links. Double tapping on the screen will zoom in when using Opera Mobile 9.5. Double tapping again will zoom you back out.

Windows mobile 6.5 announce

Yep seems like MS will be launching another update before 7.0 is released
for more info follow this link
Thanks for sharing
But nothing about a possible release date yet, I don´t think we will see 6.5 before may or june 09 (hope i´m wrong)
Maybe they will rename WM 6.1 AKU 1.5(6).x to WM 6.5 like they did with WM6 AKU1 (which became WM6.1) i talk for the professional version not the standart one
So far in aku 1.4/5 they have added the new Internet Explorer Mobile, Flash Lite 3.1 (up to 3.5) finger scrolling builtin the OS, and more minor changes.
In near future we must expect zune services integration and silverlight mobile - with these added we will have Windows Mobile 6.5
Sounds like good news to me!
The odds of me getting a WM7 upgrade for my Polaris is as close to zero as it gets. But an upgrade to WM6.5 is very much possible indeed. That means more fun and a better phone.
Keep your fingers crossed!

Information on Windows Mobile 6.5 leaked

Hi Guys,
This is just a heads up. According to msmobiles, windows mobile 6.5 is out there.
http://msmobiles.com/news.php/7803.html
World Exclusive: Windows Mobile 6.5 in pictures ...
While the arrival of Windows Mobile 6.5 for the year 2009 was announced here and there, then confirmed by Steve Balmer himself at the PDC 2008, Smartphone France is very pleased to present exclusive World 2 first screenshots of what should be Windows Mobile 6.5.
If for the moment there is no real information on the new version of Windows Mobile, what is happening is that Microsoft has finally decided to redesign the interface of the aging systems to try to catch up with his lags behind its competitors.
At visual we can see that Windows Mobile 6.5 is very close to what should be Windows Mobile 7. Does it mean that Microsoft has decided to completely revise their copy as regards WM7 and we propose intermediate version which should be initially WM7? In all what whatever happens in a case closely monitor ... although it will take many months before seeing a new version of Windows Mobile on the market.
MOD Edit: Revised thread title to avoid confusion.
Information about the OS has been released, the OS has not.

Lotus Easysync / WM 6.1 finally works

Folks,
previously, there were several issues with Lotus Easysync 4.2.6 to work on more recent WM 6.1 ROMs, especially with more recent HTC Devices like the HD or Diamond Pro. A workaround using Mortscriipt was puslished in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-481691.html which solved the problem but involved doing some extra stuff.
Now, a new version of Easysync was released in January - 4.2.7. Also, the IBM release information explicitly states that it was built to cure the "newer HTC Devices" problem (see: http://www-01.ibm.com/common/ssi/cgi-bin/ssialias?subtype=ca&infotype=an&appname=iSource&supplier=897&letternum=ENUS210-021). There it says:
IBM® Lotus® EasySync® Pro 4.2.7 adds support to the following:
- Federated Calendar support for IBM Lotus Notes® 8.5 or later
- Windows® Mobile 6.5
- New 2009 phones from HTC (High Tech Computer Corporation)
I tried it on my Stock HTC ROM with WM6.1 and it works now. No need for any workarounds with MortScript or the like - just a plain install.
Hope this information is helpful for those who got stuck with Easysync 4.2.6 or did not want to try out the workarounds.
