Flashed english WM6 but need AZERTY keyboard

Hi,
I flashed WM6 - crossbow 1.5 - on a french qtek so I have a french keyboard. I tried to change the registry with the registry editor Total commander; I opened the program on the device and went to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Keybd]. I created a New String Value name: Locale; I typed in the Value Data: 040c (for french keyboard) and I held the powerbutton for a few seconds until asked if I really wanted to switch your device off, and clicked on YES then restarted it...
and I am still in QWERTY mode when I type on my AZERTY keyboard :-(
Any ideas?

Did you wait 30 seconds to 1 minute before turning off the phone? In WM6 registry entries can be lost if you change them then immediately soft reset the device. Is your registry change still there? If not try again. If it is, I'll have to defer to someone that knows more about switching the keyboard type.

I indeed for sure did not wait any time before soft reseting the phone
Althoug now I waited one minute... it still not working
I am locked into an english keyboard. I can see the registry entry being there and being the one I made and .. not working...
Should I change anything else to make it work?

But i always have trouble with my keyboard who is in "qwerty" and i can't put ii in "azerty". Can U describe type of new registry key that we must create to change keyboard?

cab for the tilt keayboard

I have upgraded to AT&T ROM, found on this forum, which finally has solved the issue of phone calls freezing my HTC kaiser
But now I have a little issue: the tilt keyboard button mismatch: for example the combination for the symbol "!" returns the symbol "@"... almost 50% of symbols are misplaced from their screen print.
Is there a cab to restore the keyboard of HTC model?
Please find attached the keyboard of my kaiser:

Here is a hint...there is button above you that says search...I guarantee that you will find this issue that has already been addressed and solved.
Here is also another hint. Look in the the sticky by the author Dutty that has already posted a fix for this in a .cab file.

Unfortunately I have done it.
1.
I have tried cabs from Dutty from the sticky thread
2.
I have tried to tweak the registry, using the french mapping the english mapping, the Chinese mapping, which I found in another thread.
Even after resetting Kaiser KEEPS the current mapping: when I press FN+Q I receive a "!" instead of "@"
Viceversa, if I press FN+W I receive a "@" instead of "!"
If I press FN+Sym I CANNOT receive the symbol list, as before upgrade!

Dear Alltheway.
I am looking at sticky posts: there is none from Dutty: he has authored several ROMs, but none of his posts is sticky.
Can you be so kind to post the link of this cab which you mention will rolve the "mismatched key mapping" issue?

I had the same problem and it was solved by this way:
Find this key: HKLM\Hardware\Devicemap\Keybd
Either delete "CWSLayout" or set it = 0
After that SR!
Have fun!

Yes Urprey: I tried that cab but no improvement, because that cab for designed for owners of ATT devices willing to try HTC or Orange or whatever ROMs.
My case is the opposite: I have a HTC device and I am trialing ATT ROM!
Any other suggestions?

Xt9 - how to turn it off!

Hi guys, i just updated my Artemis to use WM6 "[11/11/07] Artemis Touch 3.01 WM6 WWE ROM, 5.2.1921 SDHC (Full, Lite and Vanilla)". And it comes with XT9, which for me.. is REALLY anoying... i really don't use it at all, and since i'm dutch the english words arn't really representive for me.
searched the forum for Xt9 doesn't give me any results, and online i can only find hacks that also disable the shift key or whatever. I can disable it temporarily by changing to one of the other keyboard layouts, choose ABC and then turn to the regular keyboard.. But after a few seconds it will reapear.
Also a site said that alt+spacebar gives you a selection screen to turn it off.. But then again the onscreen keyboard hasn't got a alt key......
So how can i permenantly turn it off, without losing any other functionality?

use sip change that will change the default unput method for the soft keyboard

Hi, AstainHellbring.... I found V1.1 on the forum, but it let's me choose the input method but doesn't allow me to disable xt9..... can't find any newer version.

Multiple SIPs

On my sisters Herald/Wing, she can press a hardware button and swap between the US-EN and RU keyboard. Anyone know how to allow this?

If you are speaking for the hardware keyboard I am using AEKmap on my Wizard to switch between GR & EN. You can find it there http://ae.inc.ru/aekmap.php

FN key doesn't work

I just installed the EasyROM 2.0 on my HTC Touch Pro (Italian) nad I also changed the key in the regitery for the Italian Keyboard, BUT some keys continue to don't work, and the most imnportant the FN (green) key, without that kay a can0t do any symbols or other letters
Any one have a solution for that ?

i had the same problem when i installed the Elite RC3 Rom.
Then about a month later i got a SMS from my service provider saying "you will shortly receive handset settings for Data Services, pls save and activate these settings"
From then on my keypad worked normally.
Dunno if that helps.

Where did u get this rom from, i couldnt find it here in the forum
Anyways, if its a fuze rom u maybe will look here.
