im trying to setup and use my skype service but it keeps telling me unable to connect to skype network, im connected to my wifi network cos im able to surf the web can anyone tell me is this skype program set to only work in america or does it work here in UK too?

Are you sure you're connected to your WiFi and not your GPRS? Skype can be set to only work over WiFi (might be standard setting) and will give that message if you try connecting over any other connection. Double check your connection.
... and yes, it works very well world-wide.
i was definately connected thru wifi, iv only just managed to get my gprs working, oh well ill try and get it sorted! cheers matey!

Could just have been that the Skype network was down, but I've been on it all day at work so don't think so... can't think of anything else that would stop you connecting, unless your firewall is preventing something, but that's reaching a bit.

Before I start I would like to thank everyone for there contribution to the scene. I've been learning so much and didn't realise so many people were enjoying the Universal as much as I.
Now to the point.
I was wondering if anyone has had any problems when connecting to windows live messenger over a 3G or GPRS Connection?
I can sign in with no problems using wi-fi but keeps showing a message about possible poor signal etc. Although, Skype works 100% with all connection types including 3G.
Any feedback welcome and thanks for your time.

yep, same problem with me.
can connect only through activesync when radio is OFF (havent tried wifi).
when radio is on it doesnt even connect through the activesync, and nor the 3G.
I have no problem with 3G or GPRS. It is Wifi or AS that I'm facing. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't. Anyway did you install any software? I believe some of the software may cause connection problem. One case I encountered was CE-Star 2.8R2. Then moment I remove it, my WLM was able to connect to 3G/GPRS/Wifi.

Yes had various softwares installed. Gonna clean boot it and try without additional software. will post the results once tried. Thanks
Out of interest are you using WEP or WPA Encryption, because there has been a bug in most builds relating to WPA.

I used WEP mostly so can't comment on the bug with WPA. Might want to share and see if any members have ways to overcome it.

I had the same problem and found the answer. Go to Settings>connections>WLAN settings>Power mode in power mode change the power save mode to Best performance instead of Auto. Once this is done it should work.
Stupid that it comes configured not to work out of the box. I was getting ready to return mine before I found the solution online. Hope it works for you.

hey i'm kinda having the same problem..
i've read over almost all the threads on the board but just wanted to confirm..I have to setup manually a GPRS network in order for DATA via GSM to work? I'm in Canada and data here is insanely expensive so I only want to use Wifi. Just trying to make sure that it won't connect without me knowing it.
Also when the right LED at the top blinks green, meaning its connected to the network. Does that mean its connected for regular voice, or connected for Data?

What you have to do is go to comm manager and press 6. Let me know if work. Good luck!!!

I have the same issue, and Comm Manager the option 6 is grayed out and not available. Is that because I need the admin rights ??

Does anyone have the solution for this problem. I also have the problem that my s710 connects with my wifi-internet, but the internet itself cannot be used. I get the error "cannot connect the internet".

Hey guys just installed this on my Tilt. My Phone won't Sync Over to my exchange server now.
and when i turn on 3G. My phone just won't connect to the cell towers anymore.
It trys to connect to GPRS (media net) it connects. I can browse the internet
It sees i have email but fails.
If i connect to a wireless network it works great.

Just got my Touch Pro! Love it, except on thing.. When im connected to my wifi-network, it seems very unstable... Try to load up a web page in Opera and it takes forever.. suddenly it may work, but shortly after its slow and sometimes it doesnt work at all
Same goes with Youtube, so Its weird.. Anyone got any ideas?

You haven't mentioned what kind of signal strength you're getting. Tap the wireless icon at the top of the screen and it will tell you.
99% of problems with Wi-Fi are purely down to poor signal or interference from other Wi-Fi sources. If your phone can see lots of networks in your area, you might want to change channels on your Wi-Fi router to help avoid interference from the other networks.
I doubt the problem is with your phone.

Wifi works fine for me here... tested with WPA Linksys router at home and WPE Access Point at office... no problems, works as fast as the internet connection does.

I got a lg optimus 3d for a week now and i love it ! i only have 1 problem... and thats wifi. my mobile will not connect to my wireless connection at home.
Before this phone i had a nokia n900 and i never had any problems with connecting to wifi. i searched on the internet for possible answers but i havent found any.
This is what i do :
step 1 : i turn wifi on
step 2 : i'll search for my internet connection and enter the WEP code
step 3 : this is where the problems start, my mobile keeps saying :
connecting.... disconnected.... scanning.... connecting.... disconnected... scanning and this goes on and on and on till i turn off wifi
Last friday i turned off my router and modem and after i turned it on again my wifi worked but not for long because since this morning its doing the same thing connecting.... disconnected.... scanning etc.
What am i doing wrong ? i even tried my new sim card in my old nokia n900 and no problems at all....
I really dont know what to do and i hope you guys can help me.
mobile internet is working fine btw but i really want wifi at home because its faster

You can try 2 things to see whats the problem:
Find another router and try with that one.
Try to connect to another network and see if it works.
If none of the above works, then we are talking of a defective phone most probably.
EDIT: Something that you can try right away is to switch the authentication on the router to something else for example WPA2 and see if that helps.
EDIT2: Also be sure that the DHCP on the router is active. Kinda lame I know but it can cause such problems.

thnx for the response the thing i just dont get is why it did work for like 2 days ? i just had to reset the router... but ill check it with a different wifi connection in a couple of days because i first have to find one lol but thnx ill try those things

Try to switch the authentication first if you havent done it already. Just to try to do something while waiting 2 days
Go to your neighbour and try to connect on his wifi ,if it works then you have to reconfigure your network,if not then it's probably phone defect ..

yeah ill try that sometime because i just resetted my router again and now my wifi works again
