Hi,
I just received my XDA and I am already seeking for a rom on WM6
Which rom did you think the most stable on WM6 for a XDA exec?
Which rom are you using and why?
Where this rom can be found?
Thank you very much.

its a matter of choice
I was using Helmi's 1.1 from the start
not sure who's r60 50 6n tbh, but im on ROM: 2.02.00....
seems to me to be the best so far. never have to reset, never have any memory leaks etc. seems to be as fast as it needs, even after i install all of my usual apps for the device, i dont, however use any extra items on my today screen, i just have date, owner, message inbox, calender and device lock, so its going to be fast anyway.
for me this is the best rom.
I've found that for my needs, the Jwrightmscp ROMs are the best. I have much the same setup as joey jojo, minimal today usage and pretty minimal install, but it's fast. I do have a couple of glitches with it, but think that's more from dodgy program installs, need to do a hard reset I think.
I would certainly say one of Jwrights, but it is pretty user dependant. Also, must take into consideration your Radio version, it willl make a huge impact on the performance of your device re. stability and functionality.
Good hunting.

thinking back, i think thats the one im on, ive just upgraded the radio to 1.15 so ill see if this makes any performance differences.
the only problems i have ever experienced with any rom is lack of signal strength, but i only have this issue at home, so ill just put that down as a local operator coverage problem. (my operator sucks for coverage)
do not install any of them if you are not ready to experiment...nither of them does not have video call (so front camera has become useless),and there are anough bugs to challenge you..
The perfect ROM is clear ROM....WM5 is clear ROM (everything here is just variations of it).So if you do not want to experiment...stay on WM5....
Right now I am using Laurentuis "Vanilla" and it looks like this

Firstly, I apologie for my english, it is not perfect...
Thank you all for your answers, tin2404 sayed there is no video call with WM6, but I've seen yesturday in this forum a program correcting this... Is it working?

hey guys, just started working at att and i requested the tilt as my company phone. well i got it yesterday, but i am completely pda/smartphone illiterate..
and i have been skimming over this forum but it minus well have been written in chinese...
so i read that quick gps is already loaded on the phone? i went through file explorer and couldn't find it anywhere... did i over look it?
also, the phone seems really laggy... from the screen switching from potrait to landscape... and there seems to be alot of lag in pressing the numbers on the touchscreen.
i've seen all the rom flashes and such... but is there a dummy guide to flashing the rom? do i download it onto my comp then move it over using active sync? does it matter what folder i put it under?
sorry for the stupid questions, but i tried my best to read through the threads but i couldn't seem to absorb anything...
-tj
mail me your phone, ill put quickgps on it and whatever custom rom you want..
couple of things
first off, try advanced search for the kaiser thread
second, coming from att might get you banned here... seems anyone that mentions xda on att forums gets banned
(i for one have been happy with the customer service)
there are plenty of guides to flashing, but basically you need to be careful. hook up to active sync and install hardspl, it won't look like anything happened so verify that you did it. then you're ready to flash your rom of choice. I use XDA Live, just keep in mind that flashing is risky and so you need to read read read... I'd stick with the stock rom for awhile anyway
quickgps is under programs BTW
this thread might be deleted just on the principal that there are a hundred like it
thanks for the info....
didn't know there was so much animosity between att workers and xda people...
i just work there to pay the bills and put food in the mouth... hopefully some of you know where im coming from...
also, to get my today screen to look like this....

not really interested in the bee in the background but more the layout of the today screen... im guessing that would require a rom flash? it just looks so much cleaner then the standard today screen...
-tj
To make your screen look like that, background excluded, all you need to do is to fing HTC Home cab file and install it. You do not need to change the ROM. Search... grasshopper...er bumble bee

Nothing. Great.
I wouldn't expect any major improvements from a .1 release anyway. It's alot of welcome changes though, and any speed increase is definitely an upgrade.
In short the news:
1. SMS Chat View Mode
2. Speed
3. Getting Started
4. PIE Zoom Out
5. Managed Programs
6. Task Manager
7. Office One Note

To me this could be the great strength of the new Windows Mobile 6.1, this case is being tested in a HTC X7500 Advantage a machine by nature very quickly, that with this new version was even more, imagine, before the terminal took about 50 seconds to restart at the moment with the WM6.1 takes only 30 seconds, in the navigation menus is irreproachable.

Hmmm, nothing great? #1 - Threaded SMS. Easier to read SMS's, no big deal. #2 - Speed. Yep, faster device. Nothing great about that. #4 PIE Zoom Out. Yep, nothing there either. #6 - Better task manager. Can't possibly be anything worthwhile there.
In the end, is this a huge revision to v6? Not really, that's why it's a .1 release, like everyone else is saying. But perhaps we're getting closer to what v6 should have been from the get go. Look for major improvements with v7, whenever that is.
It runs damn fine on my Touch and the memory leak is gone. Good stuff! I don't really get the getting started though, what's that supposed to be for?
imo mem leak problem removal is VERY important, if it is really fixed.
i do not need ANY new apps, nor touch ****.

Someone in another thread said it wasn't fixed but that hasn't been confirmed. Several people noticed a huge improvement, myself included.
Been using it all weekend on my HTC Wing. I love it. Would not go back to WM6. Its definately better.
wm imho always had a pretty slow evolution rather then any revolution steps
"I will be releasing a new rom tomorrow with an up-to-date version of pointui home, it will be named.... you guessed it!! PointU2ROM!! there will be other minor improvements as well.
This is a simple rom that i built using superjustkitchen. It is based off windows 6.5 (23031)... You must flash this rom through an sd card(not sdhc).
This rom has a few of my favorite apps including pointUI 1.51 and the new resco picture viewer alpha.
BluetoothSetting
BT_Explorer_1_2_29199_1
BT_SAP_2_02_02
Camera_4_04_27385_02
CommManager(I suggest using pointUIs built in commManager)
Deviceinfo_1_1_0_0
PhoneSettings
PointUI Home 1.51a
resco picture viewer alpha
WLANSettings_1_0_0_1
xdaShutDownBlack
NetCF3.5
... and a couple more too pointless to name.
now includes facebook 1_0_0_7b and s2p
I have stripped Office because I rarely use it.
53MB free rom
25MB free ram

Slick looking ROM, but I have one question.
Correct me if I'm wrong here, but isn't Resco Photo Viewer a paid app? Doesn't that make it illegal to distribute it in a rom?
not their alpha version, this is their new touch friendly version thats being tested... I love it so i included it
Is it publicly available? Where can I get it?
sure bro, let me dig up the link for you...

Hah, a continuation of my PointROM, but with WM6.5!
So, you got PointUI to automatically boot up and all?
I know 1.51 is the favorite around here, but are either you or ace interested in making a ROM with the new version in it?
I made one with a new version but its only a trial... he charges for it now... 19.95 usd i believe
And ace, i didnt even know about the PointRom, Im sorry if this rom is in any way conflicting with yours, just tell me and I'll be glad to take it down.

PointUI Home 2 (Non-Pro) is free.
Haha, you never knew about the PointROM? I'm like, hmmm, same name, LOL. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=541210
But yea, it's fine. Mine was WinMo 6.1 (because you really don't see the Start Menu at all), but yea, I don't care. It's good that someone made a WM6.5 version.

and why to close program is not in task manger. ??
Hi, guys!
After much waiting, begging and whatnot, I got a brand new, used Qtek S100 from a friend of mine.
Now, I've been messing around with the ROMs, and got MA_DT_WWE_DutchRetail_11200_550_11200_Ship installed.
Now, what is the ROM you guys advise me to install, to better make use of my Magician?
Of course, I'd like to not have problems with Blutooth or the camera, so what is the most stable release available,
not needing to be the most recent?
Thanks all.

Hi, simurgh.
I've tried out all cotulla rom releases and i think that the "HTCMAG_ROM_WWE_O3" is the best upgrade for your Magician.
of course if you wanna try windows mobile 6.5 you're gonna have to give up your camera 'cause current release of WM6.5 has its camera removed.

That table is just class.
I believe it really is the best option.
I'm also wondering how the configuration of sms/mms/calls go.
Any help on this as well?

"Voice Call" and "SMS" don't need to be configured.
Non of these Roms supports "MMS" configuration but you can install "MMS service pack" on WWE_03, I didn't test this service pack on other roms but i think it should work as well.
You can download "MMS service pack" from here:

Yeah, i remember that as well. Probably a similar case here rather than a real boost.

scores don't really matter. And it doesn't seem any bit faster, but then again I can't really tell since I haven't gotten it stable enough to test normal apps. The UI feels more smoother-ish, not quicker just less jumpy. *note i said "-ish", because there are no apps installed so obviously it's not gonna lag.
so far for me I have only gotten it to work on the first boot, and for some reason only when I don't flash gapps (and fyi, I'm using CM 6.1).

Still, that's amazing.
Here's a link to what I posted in the N1 forums containing the update.zip with some fixes.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9937499&postcount=105
This is not my work, its just some fixes on others works.
Have you tried any heavy duty real world applications? Like Angry Birds or Gallery? Kwaak3 would be another application that relies heavily on loading. Maybe a web browser.
Those are the only apps that I can think of that would benefit from faster loading.
