I've tried to upgrade my Wizard to last version of Faria ROM, but can't do it with Windows Vista. Now i'm running WM6 yet, but last time upgraded with XP box.
Is there any way to get this working? For my Hermes, i can put the drivers for boot mode from ActiveSync 4.5 and RUU works with Vista, but when i execute the upgrade soft for Wizard version 2.5.2, gives me an error like this:

Thanks for the help...
me too, I can't uprom on Vista (i used driver from AS 4.5). However, I install Virtual Machine (Parallels, VMWare Machine, Virtual PC 2007) on Vista and install Windows XP on this Virtual Machine and install AS 4.5 on XP and UP Rom completed, Good work.
Notice : don't install Virtual PC 2007, it don't support USB.
try right clicking on the RUU, and Run As Administrator...see if that does the trick...
Please give me more detailt
I am also looking the way to flash the ROM with Vista. I saw some post talking about VistaRUU but it doesn't work with my Wizard. Does anyone know or have any idea?

Thanks for the reply. I do this in the past (recent past jeje) but VMWare for Vista is still in beta fase, and give me same problems with the USB drivers.
I was thinking in RUU soft that works for Vista.
Thanks anyway

You try install Parallels on Vista (i using this Virtual Machine), good work to me. USB no problem. However, first, You must uncheck USB on Windows Mobile Center on Vista.
You can use pdocwrite.exe in Vista
I flashed OS only against stock T-Mobile 2.26 using pdocwrite.exe in Vista. See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298613 it will refer you to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293480. That one intros shelltool which is just a wrapper for pdocwrite.exe. It's part of itsme's awesome suite of low-level hacking tools available here: http://www.xs4all.nl/~itsme/projects/xda/tools.html
I didn't use the shelltool since I already had pdocwrite.exe. It's really fairly simple to do it either way.

See my signature. It's a complete tutorial. Hope it helps.
ATT 8525 latest WM6 ROM from HTC, inlcudes all the files needed to flash from Vista (new RUU), and does not need any driver hacks and so on.
Just it would be good that someone knowledgeble would take a look at them and extraxct all the needed files from that executable.
I tried to do that, but it is using RUU_signed.nbh instead of nk.nbf and I am not sure how to change that.

I found NBHextract and that works to break open the RUU_Signed.nbh but that is as far as I have gotten, I'm still researching porting. But NBHExtract works nicely.
so maybe we should package nk.nbf into RUU_Signed.nbh, and then it would work with those new RUU update executables?

I'm planning to buy a qtek s200.
Did anyone tryed to upgrade the rom using vista - i've read that active sync won't work with Vista.
In my opinion "Vista" do not require Activesync as it has some builtin system.

it does not work, use the shearch funtion in the forum, there is allredy several threads asking the same thing.
Only on Vista 32 bit imho...
The upgrade software does not work correctly with any version of Vista, so if you want to brick your device try it
Vista has a new Mobile Device Center that replaces activesync. Don't try to upgarde with Vista. I maintain an old notebook as spare running XP just for flashing purposes. Or install XP on a different partition and flash from there.
I Try To Do It , But It Cannot Upgrade.
My PC Uses Windows Vista Ultimate With Windows Mobile Device Center
I Have JASJAR With WM5
What's My Problem ?
Thanks.
Your problem is windows vista, the drivers that come with WMDC are not compatible with the upgrade program. You need to either use XP or get the drivers from Activesync and install them instead of the WMDC drivers.
Thanks .
But From Where I Can Download Drivers ?
Read his post again.
get the drivers from Activesync
Meaning, use Activesync.

Do you mean install Activesync in Vista? Is that possible? Will Activesync run with Vista?

I used to have this working at the beginning of the month, using RUU 2.01 + WMDC 6.1 x64 Driver.
All of sudden it does not work anymore.
Tried all other RUU versions (2.03, 3.xx), no help.
Anyone with good luck please give me some hint!
Thanks a lot!
i had issues with digital signed drivers even if i turned digital signature check off during boot and so i chose a different path for flashin my phone. i installed VMware workstation. Its a program that creates a virtual machine withing windows within which u can install XP. So basically i have XP running within Vista through a virtual machine. another suggestion is dual boot vista and XP. search in google on how to do this and you will find instrucations. good luck.
Read this Guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=428469
though its for another device, but the steps are same for all the devices
Enjoy

I think karhoe moved everything to his blog. The Vista instructions are embedded in the pictorial. I don't think you can SuperCID in Vista.
FYI, I've used the Windows XP mode within Windows 7 RC and it works great for ROM flashing since, unlike, Virtual PC 2007, the new Virtual Windows XP can access the USB ports.
