is there any way to disable or reasign explorer and windows media key on smart?
If anyone know, please help with guide.
Thx...
go to \Windows folder and look for these:
Short_AP1.lnk = Explorer
Short_AP3.lnk = Player
open then with a text editor and change the targeted apps.
Go to this place:
http://www.surrealnetworks.com/mpx/SDAapps.htm
Find the file called "tcpmp hot keys". It is a cab file w/ some xml file there that reassigns those keys to TCPMP, but the xml can be modified to point them at whatever you want.
thx a lot m8s

they are :
Code:
Short_AP1.lnk for Contacts button (sp5) or Internet button (sp5m)
Short_AP2.lnk for Messages button (sp5) or Previous button (sp5)
Short_AP3.lnk for Play button (sp5m only)
Short_AP4.lnk for Next button (sp5m only)
Long_Home.lnk for long press Home key
Long_VolDown.lnk for long press Volume Down key (VolUp not supported on WM6 - don't know if supported on WM6.1)
Short_Camera.lnk for short press Camera button
Long_Camera.lnk for long press Camera button
Long_POC.lnk for long press Communication Manager button
Just change those shortcut files (located in \Windows) to point to your desired applications.
1) copy to storage
2) Edit them
3) copy back to replace

Hi
I need to remap a hardware button to run a program, but I haven't been able to find a reg tweak for it.
I've found these:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\KeyMaps
But from that I can only figure out how to disable or switch the mapping around.
Does anyone know how to do a reg tweak so I can map a hardware button to launch a specific program?
Thanks
Create a lnk file (shortcut) to your desired application, with one of the following names and put it in \Windows folder.
Short_Home - Home
Long_Home - Home
Short_CAMERA - camera
Long_CAMERA - camera
Long_POC - IE button (the one from above long volume up button)
Short_POC- IE button
Aditionaly:
Short_AP1
Long_AP1
Short_AP2
Long_AP2
Short_AP3
Long_AP3
Short_AP4
Long_AP4
for the phones with the 4 extra buttons above softkeys.
eg:
If we want CoolCamera to open at a long press of Camera button:
- make a shortcut to CoolCamera.exe (with Resco Explorer for example)
- rename the shortcut to Long_CAMERA.lnk
- copy the shortcut to \Windows with overwriting.
Aditionaly you can map Long_VolDown & Long_VolUp.
Edit: more info about HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\KeyMaps:

Thanks, but that doesn't work on the C500.
I don't have any shortcuts called anything like that in my windows folder. I tried creating one to test it out, and it was a no go
Any other ideas?
Not exactly what you are after, but you do know that you can assign programs in your start menu to speed dial right? Sorry if you already knew that. Another option is AEButton or whatever its called, but its pay software.

What OS do you have? WM5.0?
PS: that works fine on my HTC Tornado with WM5.0 and WM6.0
try this:
the instructions remain, just the shortcuts filename will change as follow:
CaLP & CaSP - camera
HomeLP - home
LP is coming from long press
SP is coming from short press
What do you have to to do make programs appear on the "programs" menu in wm6? I installed a new ROM and have soem apps installed in the storage card that I would like to put back under the programs section.
Thanks in advance
You have to create a shortcut to the app that you want, and then copy it to /windows/start menu/programs
Greetings

Or, if you have installed "Resco Explorer", tap and hold on the ".exe" file then select "Send to" -> "Start Menu as Shortcut". After add all the shortcuts, soft reset the device and the added shortcuts should go to "Start" -> "Programs", (otherwise, they are staying under "Start").
i have a very easy solution ;-)
(if you know how to do shortcuts on a Windows System)
Open 2 Windows with the explorer. With the one you go to the Mobile-Device/Windows/Start Menu/Programs/ - Folder
and the other one you go to the directory of your storagecard, where the exe of the program is.
now do it like in Windows.
Right click and Hold the exe-file, and drag&drop it to the other Window with Start-Menu open. And click "Create Shortcut here"
Here's a solution if you don't want to install a third party application or don't have access to activesync
Thanks to mobinauts for this.
i) Open your File Explorer (default application).
ii) Locate the application's .exe file that u wish to create a shortcut for (usually found in its application folder and also usually the most outstanding icon in that folder).
iii) Tap and hold on it and under the sub-menu that appears, tap 'Copy'.
iv) Go to 'My Device\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\' folder.
v) Tap and hold on an empty space and select 'Paste Shortcut'.
vi) U can then rename the shortcut file by doing a tap-and-hold on the file and selecting 'Rename' (e.g. 'Shortcut to Bejeweled.exe.lnk' to just 'Bejeweled.lnk' or just BW.lnk).
vii) Done = u should be able to access your application from the Start>Programs menu.
On an earlier ROM that I flashed (forgot which one) there was an option to assign ' <Close> ' to Button 2 (Start>Settings>Buttons>Select a button>Assign a program)
Currently only <OK/Close> is available to be assigned to that button but that doesn't necessarily actually close the open app, it sometimes just minimizes it depending on the app.
How can I use button 2 (the IE button) to actually/really close an app?
Perhaps put a <Close> into the assign options, but how?
I-Mate K-Jam, TNT 19199 Professional Wizard V.2
here is what I use:
Put the exe in the \windows folder and the shortcut in the
\windows\start menu\programs folder, then assign it to your button
.
Thank you, that works well....
but what if I just want to close the application that is currently open, not all of them?
oh Yea...sorry about that..You could try Smartskey, it has the option of assigning a long press of the right soft key to truly close the current app

Hello, I'd like to change that long press HOME key to celetask, does anyone know the registry that handles this
thanks
I give up, I can't figure it out
cook your rom
or
make a cab file to overwrite the taskmgr shortcut.. put the celetask shortcut using the original shortcut file name.. this will load celetask instead.
Does anybody know how to make shortcut from SD card folder to programs in Topaz?
Thanx
Do you mean how to make a program .exe file that is stored on your SD card so that the program appears in the program list?
If so I use the free "Total Commander" program that is a much better file manager than the WM effort. It has a facility under "File/>>>>>>/Create shortcut" you then select "Tree" and choose where you want the shortcut to appear.
Can't you make a shortcut (.lnk file) and place it in the "start menu" folder?
This is how a .lnk file that points to an app on my internal storge on D1 looks:
59#"\Programfiler\htcAddicts cleanRAM\htcAddicts_cleanRAM.exe"

I'm not sure but probably no. I haven't found in windows folder.exe file for shortcut creating. There are only .exe files for individual settings.
i've created a shortcut to the file and placed it in program files but it doesn't show up on my programs list. i've also tried changing the regestry but it still doesn't show up on the applications list. instead it appears on my start shortcuts with the icon as an empty folder, and it still doesn't open. i'm also having trouble creating the .ink file. can someone please give me more information on how to create the .ink file and where to store it.
thanks
WOW is this really so hard?? Start>File Explorer>Navigate to file>Press and hold>Send Shortcut to Programs then go to the programs tab and click a button and find it.
Step-by-step instructions for HD2:
1. Open File Explorer
2. Open IGO8 folder
3. Find IGO8.exe, press and hold, Copy
4. Press Up, Press Up, Open Windows (Main Menu)
5. Open Start Menu
6. Open Programs
7. Press Menu, select Edit, select Paste Shortcut
8. Optional - rename - delete "Shortcut to" so only IGO8 appears on Programs list
9. Optional - use Edit Quicklinks (must have Co0kies Home Tab & Editor installed) from Home page to install the icon into your home page quick links.

Uhm, yeah this thread is about a year old now, so they've probably figured it out by now....
BTW, its easier to create the shortcut with Total Commander.
