Does anyone know how to do this within the contacts? Personally I would like the option to look up contacts via first name etc.
Also, does anyone know how to sync with a Motorola V3?

Workaround
A workaround:
Open each contact in Outlook, and change the "Store as" value..
(Default is "Surname, firstname")
Then save contact and move along to the next one..
A pain in the a** if you have a lot of contacts..
There might be some tools out there though..
What about a solution WithOUT the outlook workAround?
you can save the persons whole name under one section. eg first name 'steve dibs' last name ......
just click the down facing triangle then enter the name in one of the sections.

it's probably not what you want i know but i gave up with contacts list when i got this app from this site ,it is a fantastic little app

i was told this would be an area to look in for changing the last name first name lay out of contacts in my Imate jam

however i know extremely little about changing registy items.

this was apparantly one for changing the display for another device
so i was kind of looking for something similar but it eludes me

comments about switching contacts managers are unwelcome....i havent found another which i feel intergrates well.

excellent! not quite what i was after in terms of usage, but does the required function
"FileAsFL.arm.CAB v 1.0" is the cab to get it in the ver last post.
doesnt actually automatically change the way it displays the name, however it does let you change the way it is viewed after an entry has been made. so after you enter the name you need to select it and choose file as from the tools menu in contacts....or just "ctrl A" to select all then change the file as from tools menu.
very nice simple work around.

Do as in the picture, and that will fiks all yor current contacts to "First Middle LastName"

The new version also gives you the opportunity to add the Company name to the File As field. It will then file the contacts as: "Firstname Middlename Lastname (Companyname)".
The new version will only run on WM 5.0 devices. Both Pocket PC's and SmartPhones.

My Pocket Word doesnt start with a blank document. I guess it's because I don't have the Templates installed. Can anybody post a Pocket-Word-Template-File (*.pwt)? Couldn't find one myself in the net.

Looks like *.pwt is the old format for templates. The new is *.dot. I've created an empty *.dot and have copied it into the /windows/ folder. But I still get the error on opening a NEW document:
"An Error has occured. The document could not be opened."

So you are my last chance! I want to create my own letter shapes for calligrapher (.lss) to get best word recognition.

Ok.... Here goes (at the risk of being torn apart by the senior chefs)(and I did search)...
I am using the thread by _Alex_ and the recommended programs and have started cooking my own roms... Lots of usefull information, and with the software by Ervius, I can make a rom... Yay! Also with the software by Ervius, I can turn a cab file into a Package... Yay... I have done that successfully with various cabs and cooked and flashed... Until this one...
JetWareMobile 1.30 (used to add extended capabilities to the current bluetooth stacks for use with certain car kits)
When I click the "Go" button to start building the .NB file it errors out when I include or only include this package.
It errors somewhere reading the .RGU file with the registry information.. It stops on a line that points to this line...

I installed it manually, compared the registry with the .rgu file and that it references to the Program Files Directory...
I have not tried manually making the .rgu file say just that, but before I did, and probably will while waiting on a reply, try this, I would like some expert opinions on this....

During the manual install, it asks, "do you wish to load the stacks now?" type question, and you have to click yes or no, to finish the install...
I have tried it also as a OperatorPKG install, and it hangs the whole install process with no visible way to continue the process.

It seemed to work in the flash... I ran the program, and it asked to enable the stacks. so it should be ok.
Ever since my days of owning the Tmobile SDA (tornado), Tmobile HP pda, and then the Tmobile MDA (wizard) and now an ATT Tilt (Kaiser), I have tried sooo many roms that the Chefs here have created...
I would like to create one now for the XDA community.

i'm searching for something to open opendocument files
i mean, the file made with openoffice and other ISO/IEC 26300:2006 compliant programs (i.e .odt, .ods and like)

i tried Thinkpad free (i got for free in my SGS) and also other apps i don't remember (even one i paid for it x.x ) but noone will open my odt files ;_;
the only solution i got is Offiviewer who don't "read" document files, but send them to a server who convert into pdf and send back... :\
do you know an app who can let me read my documents?

Sorry for answering such an old answer, but maybe the thread's author is still following this...
A colleague and I were working hard on such an app. It's released on the Android Market for a while now, and it's called OpenOffice Document Reader.
Feel free to tell me what you think and suggest new features (yes, we're working on editting ).
I'm going to create a new thread for this app in a few minutes here on XDA...
