I have imate ppc with radio version 1.8.00. i just installed it. But now a days radio version 1.9.00 published. which one is BEST and WHY?

1.9 came like a rogue in the night from a small operator
and have never been released by the big ones like tmobile and o2
havent heard about fixed issues or new issues in it
dont think that many people changed to it
you can use search function to find the other posts about it
I have been using 1.9 for about a year now and don't have any problem.
Light on the battery usage and good reception.
Works very well using Vivi's Flightmode.

I'm using 1.12 because there isn't any problem with AIS network in Thailand when it change from 800 -> 1800 or 1800 -> 800 (depends on the location), but with 1.18 and 1.19 , the signal usually gone. So I have to do a Softreset.What you get from 1.18-9 is the battery life.
The weak thing in 1.12 is that you cannot send fax. It's only work on 1.18 and 1.19.

I don't have an idea which cellphone you are using.
But for my XDAII, 1.12 works perfectly.
I just upgraded it from ppc2003/se to wm5 using:
llbasha-WM5-AKU35pp16c3R.rar
but it has no radio. I tried 1.19, 1.17. 1.18 which took me half day but to no avail. I read at:

But it took me a while to find out how I can install it. What I did was download this files:
1. HimaUpgradeUt_noID.exe
2. Radio 1.12(needs to get the file Radio_.nbf from it using rar software
Copy (1.) and (2.) on the same folder and run (1.) and wait for 30 minutes.
I was relieved after using radio 1.12 as the signal came out.

Forget the 3d acceleration that's probably never going to come. Probably aafter some serious threats, Htc will release better video playing support, drawing and eventually only 2d. Testing it, and I can say the radio is pretty good until now.

Thanx. Its a keeper as it has one bar plus at the signal, camera is good. Also this rom, or is it just me, has a smaller slowdown when touching the screen. It still is there, but less (probably my imagination). Anyway i now have the radio and i can flash another rom to see if it works (let's say duttys) . Cheers
How does this version compare to EU versions?
I have had this rom on my TyTn II since I got it over a month ago. It is very stable and just awsome compared to some of my other friends with different roms. enjoy it.
any further thoughts on speed/stability/reliability?

im downloading radio to flash now.. has anyone else flashed this yet? Do we know if this requires the new audio drivers that was used with the later ATT radio? If no one answers this i should be able to soon..

OK this does NOT use the same drivers as the ATT radio 1.27.14.09. When i flashed this radio over that one i get the no audio and never ending vibrate(im sure my wife would appreciate the upgrade)...

I flashed a rom that uses the older drivers and it works with those..
I flashed this to my phone and I can only really tell two differences:
My recption was shot to hell. I now am stuck at one or two bars. Before the flash I had a constant four bars present in my current location.
Touchscreen lag has been reduced. Such as scrolling through the contact list and games that use the touchscreen for input. Screen draw is still slow (ie scrolling though Programs or Settings is still choppy.)
Other than that there's not much news in there. No new (versions of the)apps, old CE-build etc.

Hey guys who did the radio only upgrade. Check your gps and see if you can get a lock. GPS Test on mine never could get past looking for gps device.
look at the ROM date... it's quite a dated ROM...

How do you see the date of the rom ?
Look at Laurentius26's post up there, number 14. It has the date. It should be in Device Information in settings... or in about... can't remember which.
Has updated German O2 XDA Orbit 2 on the English version. After that communications or not or very weak signal. Tried to update all radio:
Polaris Radio 1.58.21.23
Polaris Radio 1.58.25.14
Polaris Radio 1.58.26.20
Polaris Radio 1.64.06.04
Polaris Radio 1.64.08.21
Does not help. Has updated original German insertion - has not helped. Has updated Russian - has not helped. Help what to do?
I've the same issue in Belgium with the Proximus phone network.
Updated with last WWE ROM and everything but gps was finie. I then decided to update ROM radios to see if I could get a better GPS signal. Since then, I've got with all radio ROMs a very weak 3G signal.
Any idea?
Search the forums people... there's been loads of complaints about "Reception difficulties" "Bad reception" "bad signal" ....
Might want to try this: go to your phone settings, switch the top phone option from auto to GSM and NOT to wcdma. This might fix your issue.

Have you gone to Settings->Phone "Band" tab and set another of the 4 band options? (this is on the BEPE 0.67 ROM, not sure if it is on the release ROM though)
Hi everyone. I recently got an o2 Orbit 2 on a UK pay monthly contract and just decided to start playing with some ROMS. I read all the instruction, flashed the ROM and everything appeared to work just fine except now, batterystatus tells me that I have 34% signal strength (which is normal for where I am) but I can't get a connection to the o2 network. I've tried every single radio rom from the collection listed in the Polaris upgrades area but nothing seems to work. So if anyone could help me I would be over the moon or if anyone has a copy of the original o2 UK radio rom that I could flash my device with i'd love to hear from you.

i had the same problem...flash murata radio and everything will be ok
if you don't want the hard reset just use udk's custom ruu or flash the radio from microsd renaming the ruu_signed.nbh in POLAIMG.nbh (your device must be hard spl and in bootloader mode).... micro sd must be formatted in fat32 or it will not work

I've now flashed my orbit 2 with the murata rom and got a connection to o2 immediately but now i don't seem to have working bluetooth. I'm using udK's latest diamond rom for the touch cruise. Could this be the problem?

"Murata Radio" - to my mind only the one thing which can help us. By the way, Polaris is one of the top models of HTC. Then why on earth we have so many problems with it? GSM, Bluetooth, video etc.

What's the purpose of upgrading the radio rom? Will it give my prophet 3G network compatibility or something? Do you mind writing just 1 line of the benefiits of upgrading for each of your ROMS? I find you have contributed a lot but I just dont understand it. I've read the wiki too. I'm still using default ROM 2.15 with WM5

Flashing a Radio ROM will upgrade the software used for call handling, bluetooth and WiFi. It will not give you any functionality like 3G, but may increase Reception, and reliability of other Radios. It may also alter battery life.
If it's working fine at the moment, there is no real need to upgrade.
I'm download this Radio Rom and hoping it'll cure my problem.
How do I flash this Radio ROM? Do I use the Wizard Service Tool V4? A amature question so please bare. Unless it has its own execution then disregard my question
I enter the phone into Bootloader and ran Radio ROM 2.19.21 which is what I had original and program indicate "Error [300]: Invalid Update Tool. This update utility cannot be used for your PDA phone. Please get a newer Update Utility."
So I tried other version and getting the same message. I'm very confused, plz help.

I simple use the Prophet Tools Light and it worked! everything back to normal!

Guys.. I understand that what the radio rom is for... Wifi, GSM, Bluetooth etc.. and that 2.19.21 is THE recommended 1.. but.. can someone please explain why? whats the difference between 2.19.21 and the latest 2.69.21 etc? If someone can post a brief guide on the pro's and con's of each radio rom then that would be great! Im particularly interested in a rom that gives the best wifi distance if anyone can recommend one? Also.. If I upgrade the radio rom will that affect my ability to access certain networks in in different countries? Im in South Africa would like to continue being able to use it in South Africa.. but would like longer wifi range if possible.. Thanx

I recommend it, because last time I test it. This RADIO ROM is more stabil and has aa good battery usage.
But If you think that 2.69.21 is suitable for you. You can use it too.

Thnx Varanusvincent.. so i take it that upgrading the radio rom wont have an effect on which countries I can use the phone in? See the last time I tried to flash a fone it ended up only being able to work in Canada! Oopz Dnt Ask! Hehe
Anyway, it just seems to me that the reason people create upgrades is to increase stability rather than decrease it and maybe provide new features.. I doubt that radio roms will provide new features.. but I am hoping for longer wifi range no matter what the battery drain may be.. so think i'll just take a chance this weekend and play around with the radio roms and see what happens then.. Many thanks omaga, already looked and the closest was Official test 1.28.405.1 HTC ROM from xda-ftp. Not sure about using a test ROM.
My version 1.28.405.3 WWE.
There was a program i came across for the artemis to dump a ROM from it straight to the memory card, but can't remember where I saw it.

I "upgraded" the radio to a newer verson (old was 1.58, new was 1.64) and ever since then, my GSM reception has gone bad. Calls drop out, and I get maximum 2 bars reception. When wifi is on, it kills the GSM reception.
I downgraded the radio back to the original (1.58.21.23) but the problem persists. I even put the original SPL on there (so no more HardSPL) but still no luck. Even a hard reset didn't fix it.
Any suggestions?
I downloaded the WM6 rom from the HTC site, but that's an older version (1.25.405.1).

I use this. This according to me newer and better. This is a fast and stable version.

I have same problem, and have found WM6 (one of the official ROW roms) works ok with 1.54.30.10. WM6.1 is much worse.
If you are having a lot of problems dropping calls etc try going back to an official WM6 ROM.

I don't have this version. but this version is used by the main carrier's official WM6 ROM so it can't be that bad would it?

I have not tried this so I am not sure if it works. But I have an idea. If you install the hard SPL from Olipro. In step 2, it writes an older radio file (I think it was 1.15 or something) onto the device. if it works then you can flash it with any version of radio you like.
