Bricked your prophet?...read this - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 Software Upgrading

Hi, I'm one of many people who have bricked there prophets. And after weeks of reading and research I have come across a few points of interest. Maybe someone will be able to do something with this information which is beyond me.
What i have found is that the gold card project would likely not work even if it ever does get completed according to this:
http://www.spv-developers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5153
apparently this guy says at the end of the fourm that a G3 prophet flashed with a G4 rom can be fixed but, the information is not free and the only option is to use a program called jTag.
So in doing more research about jTag i found this site which is a free download of jTag.
http://openwince.sourceforge.net/jtag/
If someone can get a hold of doctorx maybe he could update?

[HOW TO]Jtag a HTC Touch Elf(in)

I have searched, and have not found any information that can help me.
I have a touch that the Service Centre want £90 to repair - new motherboard. Is this fixable with a jtag - If so, does the Holly Gates Schematics for a Jtag Dongle work here?
Has anyone successfully JTAG'd an ELF? If so, was it due to a similar circumstance as myself?
Anything I have come across goes to Russian sites - I'm not russian, nor can I read it.
I have seen posts for other devices, but these seem to all be based on a Samsung Chipset, apposed to our OMAP devices?
Any help would be great, even if it is just to go read a post that I have missed when searching.
Stu
Hey, not sure if anyone would care all to much.
I have found a jtag setup I am curently preparing to use, I am going to hopefully be trying to do this tomorrow. I am working on a guide as I do it - as I haven't been able to find one. If this would be useful to anyone let me know, and I will upload it as soon as I have tested it on my broken elfin to make sure it works!
Hey mate, we care and keep us posted with any results.
Good luck!
hey just come into a bit of a stuck point. I have no images to support this.
I am trying to fix the cables to the main board on the jtag points. Aout 5mm wide. I dont really want to solder them on. Does anyone have any suggestions on how best to affix them? I'll try and get some pictures up tomorrow when i can.
Stu
Unable to do pictures today, I will do them tomorrow hopefully on my lunch break, so people can make suggestions.
I am a little scpetical about if this will work. I do not know the history of the device I am tinkering with, but I hope this will fix it.
If anyone has a broken elf they would like to part with for me to test, that would be great (I would pay ofc)
Pic
Hey,
Please see attached image.
This points out the JTAG test points, labelled to what they do (in theory) and what pin they connect to the JTAG device from the LPT cable.
I think these are very small to be able to tape them on, I also do not think that they would give a good enough connection. I am going to try to solder the cables on tonight - but in the mean time, if anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to let me know. Any ideas are good!
Stu
Hi captainstu72,
I have a completely dead HTC Touch P3450. Really dead. Even when I plug the charger to the device, the orange light (as a sign that the phone is charging now) can not light on.
A service man asked me to replace the machine for USD 80, as he said we can not do j-tag to HTC ELF
Your thread is very exciting. Please keep posting, I'll follow this thread.
Thanks

Hey bombom81,
I'm glad this can be useful for others. I just want to make sure that people don't get their hopes up too soon, thats the thing, I don't know if it is definately able to work, but I know it has been done on other phones with a very similar chipset to ours.
If I have any major break through tonight, I will definately be doing a write up on it tomorrow in my lunch, and If you'd like I can PM you when done so you can give it ago.
Your ELF sounds as though it is in a similar state to mine, so hopefully, if I get this fixed, it may well work on yours!

Yes..I had this problem months ago and I've made a thread for it :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=582913
Unfortunately, every suggestions I got from people here didn't work in my device. And I could not even claim a warranty for it as the seller said that the product warranty is already expired too long ago (in the end I knew that the product was his present from his office, and when he said it is new, means that, It is new because He never used it...LOL, not "new" from the factory). So I just keep it in my cupboard.
I think It will be more valuable for others if we discuss here, on your thread, than PM, as I think there are many people are having the same problem like us (as many as I can find after I google "Repair Totally Dead ELF" )
Please, kindly also check this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=602233
This guy also found a similar thing like yours. I actually don't know a thing about JTAG. In the future, please forgive me if I might ask you some questions about it and I hope you don't mind about my questions.
Thanks for your kind to share your experience with us, I'll keep watching this thread and hopefully you'll be success with your experiment so it can bring the joy for all of us.
Best Regards,

Hey,
Likewise, every suggestion I could find had no luck, which I why I decided to dig deeper.
I did come across GallegoT's thread, however, I sent him a PM to see if he had got anything sorted, but I have never heard back - So I created a new one.
I was going to keep this thread posted, don't worry, I was only going to PM you when it was finished - to save you keep checking it
Had a few issues with it last night, tried soldering to the board, but my soldering iron doesn't get hot enough, hasn't got a thin enough tip, and my hands weren't steady enough - Also the wires I was using were fairly wide, I have swapped these for a thinner Kynar wire, and will more then likely be remaking the whole of my setup to make it easier.
Just so you have an idea - I currently have an LPT (male to male) cable which I have taken the end off, and soldered wires to 2 3 4 6 11 and 18-25. 18-25 link then into one wire, as this is to ground the device. 2 3 4 6 and 11 are connected to 100Ω resistors each. These are then connected to wires, which are ready to be connected to the device.
Thats the basics of the device - I do not have an image of what I have planned out avaliable, but you can get the idea of it from what is in this post, and using my image posted earlier.
Maybe you guys have better tools - soldering equipment etc then I do.
When this is done you need to run a program called HJtag, and NoIce. I have an idea on what to do for these, however, I have not tested it yet to want to post it on here.
Like I have said though, I will be making a guide that is as full as I can.
I will try some more tonight, to get the cables connected, and hopefully then will be able to give the whole process a go.
Thanks for your interest in this thread, even if I only manage to help one person, at least then I feel as though I will be giving something back to the community on this site.
(I'll point out now - I did not have a clue about Jtag before now - but I also have some links I will post which make some interesting reading!)
Stu
Hey to anyone who is still watching this.
I have just got my elfin all wired up, ready to go, circuit is fully continuous and there are no bridges (I haven't soldered for more then 8 years!)
However, I have been a bit stupid, my pc doesn't have a parallel port. I'm going to buy one tomorrow and get going - very annoyed about this set back, i'm such an idiot for not checking!
I'll try it tomorrow night hopefully, worst case would be friday/saturday - A long time since starting this projct, but my hopes are high and I really hope I can help some of you guys out there!
Just thought I should update you all, I don't want this thread to become dead... like our elfs
Stu
LOL..no need to worry that your thread is dead.
I'll visit this thread everyday to see how it's going
BTW...do we really need the LPT Socket to do the JTAG? if so, then I will have to ask my IT man in my company to find me a "no-used" LPT socket, lucky I have an old Pentium 3 PC that I might be able to use it for this JTAG matter.
Please update the step-by-step tutorial here with photos so I can follow you easily. FYI, I am blind in this JTAG matter, so please do not mind to answer my next "silly questions".
Keep going! Thanks
Parallel is the only interface I have found to do it on - I would have much prefered usb or something more up to date, but we can't always have what we want.
Below are a few links that I read through before doing anything, just so I could get a vague understanding. I'm workign on the guide today on my lunch - the last part will have to be in theory.
Jtag Introduction
Someone Jtag'd an Ipaq (not the same but the concept)
Has some links to JTAG
Program we will be using for the jtag
NoIceDebugger - A program I will be using
What I think our Processor is
OMAP 850
Again, I will be making a an actual guide, this is just some reading before hand that i did that may be useful!
Stu
hey, well, i have a parallel port and have attempted the jtag.
It didn't work.
My guess is i was using too long cables, or something has come loose. My continuity tester has now died so i will be testing again on the weekend.
I'm going to post the guide i am working and what i did tomorrow. Maybe someone (bom81) would be able to give it a go and do well as i'm sure he will.
Sorry for the failure, but i am really optimistic that it will work, and that it didn't only because of something i may have wired wrong that someone else does right. I'm going to try and get a thirc elf to break and fix as well as it may just be the one i am doing is beyond repair.
Bom81, if you give this a go, good luck. I'm sure you'll have some luck!
If anyone else tries when i have the guide up, please please let this thread know, even if it doesn't work.
Stu
Hi Stu..
Can you give me the russian forum that explain about this jtag on HTC Touch.
I'm going to learn it there.
BTW, how long have you made the cable? have you cut it shorter and try again the connection?
Try to read this thread : http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f98/htc-elf-dead-after-wrting-elfin-rom-650359/
This guy has the same problem with us but finally (or luckily?), the device could come to Bootloader mode. I'm going to try to PM him, so he can explain how did he get the device work.
Thanks for your try.
Regards,
Bom81
This is for the wizard - same omap 850 http://pda2u.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=348
I can't find my link for the touch, it may be on my home pc, but it was on the same website iirc.
Cable was about 50cm's - Too long, so I am remaking it to around 15cms tonight, but will be fun as I do not have my continuity tester to make sure that the circuit has the right resistance etc. before I think I was going over by too much due to cable length.
I have started the guide, I just need a few files off my home PC, so I will do this tonight again.
It really annoys me when other threads/sites do not put everything down they have tried, the internet is for information, not for saying, "ha, i've done it!"
I'll try again tonight and tomorrow, I think I have my LPT PCB sockets waiting to be collected, all the way from China, so this will be easier for me to do ultimately.
I haven't yet given up hope, and I'm sure that if I get my document made, someone will be able to tweak it and further help us.
I just don't know how many people are using the Elf's anymore, its fine there being a thread saying we have 900's htc touch's, but how many still use them and are active on this community.... but I digress.
I am really sorry that I am not good in Electronic thing, nor that I know how the electronic equipment works.
But I will try to learn from the website url you provided. Afterall, my HTC is already dead, it will not be a big problem if I make some experiments on it. If I'm lucky enough, I might wake a Frankenstein from his dead. LOL !!
Thanks,
Bom81
JTAG HTC device
Thanks first of all for your effort captainstu72 and bombom81, very interesting thread.
I am also in the same situation - having a bricked device (flashed wrong ROM and/or wrong carrier) and thus also interested in getting a serial cable hooked up to it no bootloader - no reset. The device is therefore software-wise dead.
I would therefore also love to try your procedure to getting a JTAG connection to the device. I have not been dealing with soldering on electronic devices since I did this on commodore 64... quite a few years ago as you imagine but therefore even more exciting.
I will check this thread and get a serial cable. Oh does the H-JTAG Software also run from linux since I only work on linux on this machine?
Thanks in advance and let me know if I can be of any help in this.
Oliver
Hi Stu and ITCons (welcome to the thread)
I've read the Russian website and have made a translation of the thread from Russian to English using Google Traslate.
Unfortunately, as I said before, I have no competency in electronic, but I'll try to learn.
All credits for the compiled document will go to user id : MEDUSH and ARCC in the Russian Forum (PDA2U.Ru), as they mentioned this document might be reprinted by their copyright.
Please have a read to the document I attached...I'll come back if I'm finding out something (as this week I'll face my busiest week of the month, there are some reports in my daily jobs that I need to prepare to my Boss...LOL).
Thanks for your kind attention.
Regards,
Bom81
Thank you very much Bom81
I have found another thread on this forum as well in the gene section, which shows how they did it on the gene too (omap 850 processor as well) I have posted on there to ask if anyone can relink to the revised download, but so far, there has been no update.
I'm going to go through what you have posted tonight bom, it matches most of what I was going which is always good (from my point of view, as it means i wasn't chasing a lost cause)
Sorry for not posting the guide yet, i'm slacking! But now, obviously, it does not matter so much as bom has posted an excellent guide in his post.
ITcons - I have had a (very) quick look, I don't think HJTAG runs on linux, although I would be interested to see how it would work in cedega/wine (this is not something I can test personally), I hope it would be able to use the LPT ports etc correctly - but again, nothing I really have a whole lot of experience about.
I'll see how it goes tonight, hopefully I should have remade my circuit again, and will be ready to test once more! - This time I am using an LPT PCB Socket - hopefully easier to do as there will be less in the way of resistance from excess cables.

[Q] Hard Bricked Samsung Galaxy Note i717 ATT

Hi everyone,
I would like to clear out some points before posting my issue.
1-I have been reading hard brick threads on this device in this forum for 3 days, I am posting my question because I want to get clear answers on what my options are at this point. I have not seen not even 1 solution via Jig, which seems to be the easiest method.
2- The reason I bricked my phone is [most likely] I flashed a kernel that was intended for the N7000 model, although this might not make sense to some of you , for the sake of getting proper help, please hold back on comments that point out how much of a non skilled fan I am and how could I have got caught on such an obvious mistake. Comments like the ones I am describing just wont help so please you might as well keep them to yourselves.
3- Please do not take me as a pedantic person, I just happened to have read enough answers to know that there are highly skilled people who want to help others while some others just love to spend their free time spamming threads. I certainly do not have enough knowledge and skills to perform the jtag method since I cant even solder.
I was trying the JellyBeer rom and I flashed their kernel on TeamWin Recovery, what I do not understand is why did it brick, because I actually realized my mistake soon enough and I performed a restore to my previous rom/kernel, to my understanding, this brick should not have happened in the first place. But when I went ahead and rebooted the phone, it just turned off in the middle of rebooting never to turn on again. Its dead, it wouldnt even charge nor go into download mode or recovery, no vibration no nothing...
Returning the phone to the store is not an option for me as I brought this phone from the states to my country (Dominican Republic ) and is out of warranty.
To me it almost means that I dont have no choice but to keep using my sisters pink motorola that btw is like 10 yrs old until I can wait till some day to have that kind of money again and get a new one. I am leaving the final answer to the experts in this forum.
..If you actually read the whole thing I must thank you, because I know its waaay to long. Counting on you guys.

Hello, a week ago I was trying to restore my phone back to the stock rom, it is a Samsung Galaxy i727, and now is dead or HardBrick, I´m from Dominican Republic, searching in the internet I found a local Mobile Repair Center offering the Jtag service in just 24 hour my phone is back, their name is ALUMUN, if you are in Dominican Republic they are the best, you can find them in google as ALUMUN
I agree with you, we need help not lip service. I too bricked my phone, the site I got my roms added the galaxy 2 rom to the site not thinking it would be a bad thing to add it since they added it to the group of roms I could download for my phone, well that was the wrong thing to do!! I don't live in the Dominican Republic so I need to fix this myself.....HELP PLEASE!! Thanks guys

[Completed] [Q] Rooting

I hate to waste ur time over something that there is so much info on already. my issue is the low space msg. I have spent the past week reading and re-reading all the threads. The links for clockwork and unrevoked r dead ends. i have googled those files and i cant seem to find what i need. Im ready to pull all my hair out, and when im done doing that i think i may find a stick and poke myself in the eye, its gotta be less painful than trying to root this phone. I have put about 50 hours into this project and i am no closer to rooting my phone today than i was when i started. I love this phone, as a matter a fact i just bought it off ebay and changed from my iphone 4s to the incredible. i bought a 64g sd card thinking that would solve the space problem, and well as you know it didnt. Is there anything else u can tell me that might solve this issue? or help me with the files i need. anything??? Not being able to root this phone and complete this project i started is making me CRAZY!!!!!!!!! Thank you for your time, and i completely understand if u call me an idiot and demand i step away from the phone!! !Hahahahahahaha
Hi there,
Can you please tell me what kind of smartphone do you have, and exactly what you want to do?
Thank you
Thread closed, thank you.

[Completed] (Unbranded device) Seeking root info. Possibly an Alps M8?

Greetings again forum.
I haven't been around the forum for a while since my old ass HTC touch pro days lol. But you all seem to be the end all/beat all resource for information on rooting devices. I've rooted a number of devices with help from the tutorials posted here.
Here's my issue. My wife just recieved a new phone for a present for her birthday. Her dad bought it off the "WISH" app on his tablet. From what I can tell this app is for cheap asses who wanna try and get a deal. Here's the problem. It is an unbranded phone. It says M8 under the model number yet there is no HTC branding anywhere. This seemed fishy to me so I started looking things up. Turns out he thought he was ordering a HTC M8 according to the description but ended up with this hunk of Chinese crap. It's not even a clone of anything, to the best I can tell.
I am familiar with clones and Chinese knock offs etc. I actually have an iclone. Here's what I was able to find during my research. It's sold on aliexpress which is known to rip people off. However this device is fairly decent. I can forward the link in a PM if need be. Not sure why it thinks I'm a new user I've been a member for over 8 years lol.
The information on the alixpress site is as shady as it gets. The description says quad core, but the info below says dual core. There are other errors but that's not what I'm here to discuss.
I've attached screenshots of the about page. It should have all the relevant info that someone more familiar than myself would need. Ideally if I can root what's on it with an app or a free one click root, that would be awesome.
If not I am ok with putting clockwork mod recovery on it, if there's a guide on how to. And/or cyanogen or another rooted rom that's compatible with this handset.
If anything more is needed to help me, just post up. I'm more than willing to do what needs to be done to solve this conundrum.
Thanks in advance.

Hi
Thank you for using xda assist
You can try posting here and check if someone knows something about the device you have
hope someone can help you out
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2259645
Well I've managed to figure it out by googling all the numbers and letters from the build etc.
As it seems the actual hardware is irrelevant, the software build is what triggered results on Google. It lead me to the name of the rom build and it turns out that it's not really a complicated rom. Seems these Chinese knock off artists took the lazy way out and stuck a vanilla rom on this thing cobbled together with accompanying adware laden software. I wouldn't wish this thing on anyone.. The phone is confirmed as an ALPS M8 with a MTK6580 chipset. Here's what I have done since the post.
Uninstalled the ad riddled software they preloaded onto it.
Removed all the camouflaged affiliate "Google" and "yahoo" bookmarks they preloaded. Buncha sneaky bastards had it running through clickserve ad services.
loaded up king root and it worked like a champ.
Loaded titanium backup, finished removing the rest of the ad revenue crap they cooked into the rom.
It's clean, and the version of King root that worked was the latest as of this date.
Thank you for the referral though, this can be marked as solved. Hopefully it'll add the tag "ALPS M8" to the index so search can find this post. Hope it helps someone else.

Palm pvg100 questions

I am seeking an app that would make the power button also the volume button. I have come across several apps that make the volume button turn into the power button but none for the power. Also does anyone know where to get a replacement sim card tray for the PVG100 or if a sim tray from another device would work in it. Thanks
Hi guys!
I think I found the source code/bootloader for the PVG100. After a whole lot of digging, I now have this .zip from the founder himself, and it is for the original 2018 firmware, not with any of the updates. I'll attach it below.
I am definitely a novice tinkerer, not a developer. I don't have any of the skills or tools to make a custom ROM, though I very much want one to remove the bloatware and enable hotspot tethering etc. Stormskeeker, could you please post whatever you have managed to find so far, or explain how you have been able to tweak it?
I also have a couple of these that are inoperable for various reasons that I have thoroughly dissected. So if anyone needs to buy any of my spare parts, or wants to just know more about the Palm's guts, then hit me up!
This is SUCH a rad little phone. Biggest complaint by far is battery life, and I would LOVE if someone help me figure out how to power this phone with a bigger battery. I found a Oneplus battery has the same connector, but it won't work when I connect it (unless it's plugged in to a wall adapter)... does this have something to do with the firmware not accepting a different battery? Does Anyone know how I can get around this??

I am seeking an app that would make the power button also the volume button. I have come across several apps that make the volume button turn into the power button but none for the power. Also does anyone know where to get a replacement sim card tray for the PVG100 or if a sim tray from another device would work in it. Thanks

There is nothing we can do about your situation, why did you come here to ask about this issue? Don't waste your time here with a question like that.

Questions about how to root this device are relevant, but you didn't ask about that in your previous post, did you? No, you didnt, you asked an irrelevant question about the SIM tray that has nothing to do with XDA or what we do here.
My point is, this forum is about android software development and Windows mobile software development. Given that fact, questions posted here in this Palm pvg 100 thread should be questions about Palm pvg 100 software. Your question is about your device's manufacturer and their practices concerning the SIM tray issue. That question is irrelevant here at XDA because it has absolutely nothing to do with android, android software development, Windows mobile, Windows mobile development or the software on your Palm pvg 100.
Sure, your question is related to the Palm pvg 100, but that doesn't mean anything.
If this were an automobile repair forum, the question you posted would be like going to an automotive repair forum to ask why Toyota has stopped making a certain part or making that part available to the public. How would the people in the forum know why Toyota is doing that? They, wouldn't, Toyota would. What could the people in that forum actually do about the availability of that part? Absolutely nothing. So why waste your time asking them if they don't know and can't do anything about it? Do you see my point now?
If you want to know if there is a known rooting method for your device, do a Google search for:
"How to root (your model number)"
If that doesn't find anything, there is not a known rooting method for that device. If you find nothing, you'll have to experiment for yourself to find working method.
If searching doesn't find anything specific, you'll have to try the various universal rooting programs on PC or the various android rooting apps, try all of them that you can possibly find.
If the universal rooting programs or apps don't work, you can try finding a copy of your stock firmware, then extract the boot.img from the firmware then use Magisk on PC to patch the boot.img then flash that boot.img on your device then install the Magisk Manager app on your device. But, if your bootloader is locked, you will not be able to flash the patched boot.img.
If you want to know how to flash your device, do a google search for:
"How to flash stock firmware (your model number)"
Or
"Return to stock (your model number)"
That should find guides for flashing your device.
Notice that the Google searches are simple and to the point,
"How to (the thing you're looking for) (your model number)"
It isn't difficult to use Google to find answers, you just have to keep your search terms simple and direct.

XDA itself is not involved in which devices do or don't get support or custom development.
It is up to the community of members, it is the members that figure out rooting methods and it is members that create the custom developments that are available here. It isn't like XDA has a team of people that are tasked with developing for every single android device model that is created/sold.
Devices that do not have known rooting methods or have no custom development of any kind are due to several reasons, such as:
1) there are not enough users in the community that own the device
2) the device has no stock firmware available and/or does not have a stock source code that is available to the public. Without these, custom ROMs can not be created.
3) there are no users or developers with the experience or skills to create custom software that own the device. Developers only build for devices they personally own and real developers don't buy cheap, off-brand, unpopular devices. If someone here owned a device like yours and had the skills to build ROMs, there would probably already be ROMs for your device.
If your device does not have a stock firmware that is available and has no stock source code available and you do not have the necessary developer skills, you are out of luck when it comes to customizing your device or ever seeing custom development for your device.
If your stock source code was available, you could have tried paying a developer to develop ROMs your device, but it would have required you buying another device like yours and sending that device to the developer so they could use it for testing what they build before releasing their development to the community here.
If you really want to blame someone, blame yourself for buying a device that no developer would ever care about working with.
If you want to be able to customize a device, here is some advice.
1) don't buy cheap, low end, off brand, unpopular devices, it doesn't have to be an expensive flagship device, there are some decent mid-range devices that receive custom development.
2) don't buy a device that does not have stock firmware available and/or has no stock source code available.
3) you are going about it all wrong, don't go buy a device and then come here looking to see if anything is available here for the device. Come here first and see what devices have available development here and what those developments are and use that information to choose which device to go buy and THEN go buy the device.
So, you see, there is a lot more to the story than just.....

Whether or not the stock firmware and stock source code is available or not is absolutely essential to building custom ROMs.
Ok, have it your way then. Continue wasting your time and money on devices that will probably never have anything posted here to root or modify them.
As I said, not all devices get rooting methods and custom development posted here, only the ones owned by people who had the experience to root the device and/or build custom ROMs, they find a rooting method for their device themselves then post the method here or they create custom development for their device themselves then post it here.
You don't understand how things actually work here or where the information posted here actually comes from. It comes from users just like you and I that figure it out for themselves if nothing is here and then post it here for others. There is no way to know which devices will gain root until AFTER it has already been figured out, we can not know BEFORE. We can not look into the future and predict when or if "this" or "that" device will have a rooting method discovered, it can't be done, so there is no point in asking "When will this device have root?" because an answer to that question does not exist.
No one knows which devices will receive development or rooting methods. That depends on who buys one of the devices and if they decide to modify the device, if they have the knowledge to do so.
You will just have to wait and see.
In my honest opinion, that device will probably never have anything useful posted here. I can go ahead and tell you that device is, more than likely, not popular enough to receive support here at XDA.
If you feel like you would like to try and learn how to root the device and learn how to develop custom ROMs and such, by all means, go ahead. You will probably gain root and have custom development for your device sooner if you just do it yourself. Your only other option is to wait to see if someone else figures something out that works on your device, which isn't very likely to happen any time soon. It doesn't matter how cool the device is or what the specs are, if no one with experience buys the device, it doesn't get support in this community.
By the way, depending on the security measures that have been implemented in your devices stock firmware, adb can be used to remove bloatware without root.
Do a Google search for:
"Remove bloatware without root"
You'll find lots of information about using adb to remove bloatware.
Good luck

You can disable (for all) or "uninstall" for the current user most the bloatware. A few things are tied to receiving SMS but you can read about the ones you can safely remove in the battery life thread I created. That thread assumes you're not too bothered about automatic updates as they are pushed by verizon.
www (i.e. google) also works for replacement SIM tray for Palm PVG 100. js.

....dude...whatever you're trying to ask or trying to do, I can guarantee that this is NOT the forum to do it in. Please don't post on this site anymore unless you have done your research into the topic first, by reading what others have posted, and what info is available for your device. Posting is primarily for discussion and contribution. If everyone just posts any random questions they have without even googling it first, then the threads become completely flooded and then unhelpful for those who are actually trying to discuss something.
And fyi, we are still working on a root solution. We have a temp root, but can't get into the bootloader.

If the phone hasn’t a permanent root yet, does that mean no apks can be extracted from it?
I’m looking to try and figure out how to get the palm launcher on my own device, but I don’t see anyone’s who ported it or extracted it as of yet, and I’d hate to ask someone to try if I know they aren’t able to.

As long as you do it while the device is rooted, you shouldn't have a problem.

Thank you, got it on my device!
For anyone trying this themselves, I had to decompile the app, modify the manifest and remove the sharedUserId, and recompile and resign to get it to install. Then I had to give it secure settings permissions via root so it wouldn't crash.
Since my phone is larger and a has a QHD display, the apps were a bit small and it didn't fit well. Changing DPI did not fix, the launcher seems to only look at resolution, not DPI. So, I then changed the resolution of my device to match the Palm and decreased my dpi to make other apps still usable. Not sure what the default palm DPI and text size are, but I found a happy medium for me.
Only issue is for some reason the google search bar up top doesn't appear on the home screen but I can still click the area and get to search, not sure why, but works well otherwise. The left pane on the home screen is also black but I don't know what's supposed to go there. Probably some other dependency I don't know about. Widget pane on the right works though.
Overall pleased, thanks again!
Edit: got it to work perfectly by setting is as a privileged app and turning off dark mode. Left side pane is google now page, and top search bar now appears properly.
Hello, Is there a way to edit the APN. It seems to be locked.
