Use TomTom keyboard as default - General Topics

I love the TomTom keyboard, so easy to see and I can enter text with my fingers.
Any ideas how this could be done, or other virtual / software keyboards that are similar?

Another Keyboard Question

I have the PocketCM Keyboard installed, I like this because I have fat fingers and it does the job, however if I got to select this keyboard I get the default "white keyboard", not only this, I can't select the PocketCM keyboard in the settings and input selection as it just defaults to the normal keyboard.
Any ideas?

Thanks Rudegar, that did the trick.

ShapeWriter Menu switch?

I recently started using shapewriter on my Nexus one. Not really sure why it gets a bad wrap since after I got used to it, I can type about twice as fast with fewer errors as using a regular soft keyboard or keyboard replacement which was welcome since I lost my HW G1 keyboard switching to Nexus. And hell it's free and legal. But I had a couple of quick questions in case anybody else on here uses it.
1. Sometimes I want to use the regular android keyboard for apps like terminal, is there a menu key to let me switch to the android keyboard. On the regular keyboard it's just hold down 123 button and switch inputs. I can't seem to find an equivalent in shapewriter unless I go back to the android settings page and shutoff shapewriter manually in there.
2. anyway to set a gesture to launch the voice input stuff since there isn't a voice input shortcut on the keyboard.
Thanks!

I'm looking for a keyboard that has the secondary characters over the primary ones as well as the voice input key.
I didn't like shapewriter and better keyboard seems to be missing the voice input keys.
Like the stock keyboard, but hate having to push a seperate key to get numbers and then again for the letters.
To change the keyboard just hold down on the text field until the menu pops up and select input method

That is a very useful tip and almost exactly what I need. The one app that tip doesn't seem to work for is terminal, which is the app I mainly need to switch back to the stock keyboard as it is the only one supported. or perhaps I should find a better terminal program.
Though its not as good as the HTC IME keyboard with a Voice to Text, a Long press on '.' will bring up a menu to select punctuation. I just found this out yesterday.

Map button to popup on screen keyboard?

Is there a way to map a button (prefer the PPT button) so that when you push it, the onscreen keyboard appears?
Thanks!
Not too sure ...
AFAIK, the keyboard can only popup when the OS recognises you are in an environment where text input is allowed by the foreground application.
If that is the case, then a crude way of doing this would be to write a mortscript to "click" the screen at the coordinates where the keyboard icon is. This script could then be linked to one of the many keyboard mappers available (Have a look at AE Button Plus at http://ae.inc.ru/aebplus.php). This is crude however - I realise the position of the keyboard icon can vary from the middle to the rhs of the screen depending on application.
Why not just use the real keyboard ?

The reason is that I'm trying to get Windows 95 to run on my Fuze - and I got everything working except that I need to hit the F12 key. For that I installed VGA_Keyboard which has that - but the issue I'm having is figuring out how to get the keyboard to popup so I can actually hit the damn F12 key...hahaha...so close.....yet so far away...grrrrr
W95? Wow, that's interesting!
Sounds like the keyboard will be a w95 thing rather than a ppc thing? If so, is it not a w95 soft keyboard you need? Anyway, sorry, don't think I can help :-(

[Q] Send event to IME/soft keyboard

I'm running CM7 which has the ability to interface with Bluetooth keyboards. I have a Bluetooth numeric keypad, and it correctly syncs with my EVO. The key scancodes are accurately detected once synced.
Basically, I wanted to know if it is possible to send an event to a soft keyboard. The HTC soft keyboard IME has a T9 keyboard setting, and I wanted to link the scancodes of my physical keypad to the T9 softkeys. However, I don't have any idea how to interact with the soft keyboard IME and set up a key map. If anyone has some ideas, that would be most helpful.
Thanks!

[Q] turn off/stop virtual keboard when using dock?

Is there a way to stop the virtual keyboard from popping up on screen when it is in the keyboard dock, also is there a way to stop the text I am writing into the stock browser from dissapearing under the full screen keyboard when typing?
Thanks
I couldn't find a way, but I got round it by clicking the v on the bottom menu (Next to home) which closes the onscreen keyboard down. Its a bit of a faff tbh. But at least you can get to type on fullscreen. To see what you're typing, just use the arrow keys/the text tag and scroll down.
Has anyone found a solution to this problem? It is so annoying. Everytime i touch the screen to edit, the virtual keyboard pops up. I use the up/down keyboard Key, below the Enter Key on the virtual keyboard to minimize the virtual keyboard. I have cheked the settings and there is no option to disable the virtual keyboard. Any suggestions anyone?
I don't have a dock but use a bluetooth keyboard from time to time. To avoid the same problem I have installed null keyboard from Google Play store which works well for me.
Works brilliantly thanks just what i was after. I've got the note docked and the keyboard hasn't appeared on screen once while typing this. Only thing i had to do was set it to the default keyboard first in the settings under input.
