Hello all, this is my first post, so please bare with me, i know very little about XDA's and handheld/mobile computers in general...
The XDA lli has MobiControl, which i believe completely restricts it to the use of running ProMobile 3. I am aware it has all sorts of useful features such as Word and Calendars. This would be a really big help with my degree work
The only real menu option i have is to Exit, and that requires a password which i dont have, is there anyway around this.
Thanks in advance for any help

Anyone? Help much appreciated.

Hi all,
New here so be gentle.
I'm interested in developing an application that uses the gyro in my touch hd.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to find some resources on this?
many thanks

Hi logicalstep,
...it is an accelerometer, not a gyroscope. what do you want to do?
I'd liek to start building apps that make use of the accelerometer. Such as customizing actions such as a shake or when you turn the phone over.
Obviously this can be done as HTC make use of it to mute the sound on a phone call.
Do you have any experience wit this ? Can you point me in the right direction?
There must be a way to access the functions of the accelerometer through and API or something in visual studio?
Much appreciated.

Perhaps this link can be of use to you.

Fantastic, thats just what I want.
Many thanks.
I'll let you knwo if I ever get the chance to build an app worthy of XDA Devs!

I wasn't sure where anything like this would go, so I made sure to put it in a forum as general as possible.
I'm a beginning web designer, but seeing as I spend most of my free time on this site, I'm growing more of an interest in learning to code for the mobile platform. If anybody is willing to help, all I'm asking for is a few tips from developers here on where to begin.
I learned some very basic java in college, but was wondering if there is a better path to go on. Do I start with BASIC? Do I continue and go towards more advanced Java and stick with only one programming language?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
-Considering I've done almost everything that I can with my rooted EVO, all of you were the people I'd rather hear from. I appreciate all of the hard work that you all have done!
You can develop full market apps using the language I use called basic4android.
Its easy to use but very powerful, produces a native android apk (so no interpreters) and has regular updates.
There are free user contributed libraries that make it even better and it has been used to produce everything from live wallpapers and anti theft apps to games and gps software so is a good option to consider.
I wrote my first app after messing about with it for about an hour and was amazed how easy it makes things. Google basic4android and you will find its homepage for more info. I can't remember the address as it's saved as a bookmark on my pc not phone.
EDIT: did a google search and its at http://www.basic4ppc.com/

Moving to Q&A
Hi,
Is anyone able to tell me whether it is possible to develop a smart phone app (to include ipads and other mobile devices) that is able to limit the functionality of the device? I am looking to freeze certain features when the app is in operation.
Any help or comments would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Dave

Hello rocksdja, you're in the wrong section. This is about testing as stated on the link you clicked. Please post in the right section, which might be here -> General discussion > Questions and Answers
EDIT: No, no. Don't thank me. Oh wait... BTW: The advice "Titanium backup" you got is not the right tool for your needs.
Hello all xda-dev members!
I have a great idea for an app , It´s going to be a "Step By Step" app (how to/tutorial).
I want the app-design to be a simple and exciting.(not necessarily unique)
Could anyone help me out and get me started?
I am almost done with all the "Steps" that are going to be in the application.
I have tried to make an alpha version of the app in app-inventor ,but it ends up looking like an old windows 95 program..
I really appreciate helpful answers, and I am SUPER excited to learn more about app development.
Thanks a bunch!
Good night for everyone.
Actually i´m developing an app (social communication) that use a lot of pictures that users can upload to talk about it.
I have the screens (activities) and buttons done.
My question is. Where i can store all the data I´m lost.
Don´t ignore please. And thanks for the help.
