Access is Denied error... - General Topics

Just got my iPaq 6915 and am trying to copy my own ringtones to it. In windows, I get an Access is Denied error. On my XDAIIi, it used to let me put them in without trouble. I've downloaded Total Commander to both the phone and my PC, but am not sure how to transfer between the two? I looked at the properties for the Windows folder on the phone and it had Read Only and System unchecked, but still denied me access to copy files over to the Rings sub-folder. Can anyone offer a hand?
Thanks,
Karl

I'm not completely clear on what you're trying to do or on what device. But, thumbs.db is a "hidden" Windows file. Don't copy that over. Then you won't get that error.
oh its the 8125
but what i did was hard reset and when the at&t cab was going to pop up i just soft reset and it didnt install it but im just trying to skin my 8125's wm player
try to use USB_to_HDD.cab instead of copying via activesync. It's much better

Need Help!!please

I have a Touch Diamond and i have a problem:
Im trying to install .zip files from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2772381#post2772381
but when i go to the /windows directory and trying to copy and replace the files from my computer to the mobile it says i have not enough storage space...
Any ideas how i can fix this?
I have tryed the Total commander, but i cant get it to work, can anyone help with that part? plz
Try to see if you can deactivate the plugin, soft reset, and then try to copy the files... It might not be a problem of storage but rather of the files being used at the time of replacement. Hope this helps.
It woun't let you overwrite protected fies with file explorer so best to use is like Total Commander (Free) or Resco Explorer (commercial). Either of them will let you replace a protected file.
Active Sync works pretty well too if you have access to a pc.

extract files from \windows

Hello guys,
I've got a little question :
I need to extract some files from \windows, like manila.exe for example, but the problem is that even with resco explorer and total commander, it won't allow me to do so
I know there is a tool to do it but I can't find it back!
Please help me because it is quite urgent as i'm beta testing some few apps here and the guys needs my files
Cheers
I've never had problems with total commander. Try copying instead of cutting them out. If you are trying to cut them out and the files are active they can't be moved.
no no I'm just trying to copy it....
you're trying to copy files and it tells you you can't? what exactly is the error message?
With resco explorer, I've got "Access denied" :
And with Total Commander here is what I get :
I've tried either to copy on the internal memory and the SD card....
First I thought it was because TF3D wasn't inactivated, but I've bot the same problem if I disable the TF3D...
No.. this is stranger than i thought. I can copy everything from the windows folder.
This is weird.. but check out the properties of your windows folder..
Also, try using your PC to copy the files.
nop...even from the PC I can't copy it...
Maybe I try something else, is there a tool that can allow me to extract the file directly from the ROM files ? I mean from the .nbh file
little up guys

Access Denied!!

Really hoping this isn't one of those annoying noob questions, just spent an hour searching but can't find the answer.
Earlier today I decided to have my first go at modifying a .dll file (shellres.dll.0409) just a minor change to some of the display text. Managed to extract it (using Windows Explorer) unsign it, make the change, resign it, and overwrite it by copying it to my SD Card and pasting into Windows with RescoExplorer. All good.
Unfortunately, after a soft reset, my phone (HD2 stock 1.66 ROM) got stuck at the windows screen while booting. Tried reset 2 or 3 times but the only thing I could do was a hard reset.
Phone is now back to stock and working fine so I thought I would have another go at changing the .dll file.
I now can't even extract the file.
Dragging it to the desktop (which worked earlier) using Windows explorer gives an "Access Denied" error message. Copying it with RescoExplorer and trying to past it to the SD Card also gives the same "Access Denied" message??
Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong or what has changed?

That's the problem mate, can't get it to my desktop!
This afternoon copied it to desktop using Explorer, unsigned, edited, resigned etc.
Now get "Access Denied" when I try to copy it to desktop or copy>paste in RescoExplorer??
Anyone?

Permission denied when trying to push file

I'm trying to push a file to the S2. I have the Tizen IDE installed. I can connect to the watch ok. I'm trying to move a file to /opt/usr/media/Documents/ and I get a permission denied error. I can move the file to /opt/usr/media/Downloads/
I've tried this through sdb and through the connection manager in the IDE. I get the same result.
The Documents directory has read/write for user, but not group and other. I don't have permission to chmod on Documents.
I am very new to this so I may be missing something very obvious. I've spent several hours on this and am stuck. Any ideas?
Thanks.
I'm still not able to get this to work. I don't have root access to the watch. But I don't think I would need it to move something to the documents folder. Do I need to log in as a specific account some how? It seems like this should be easy? Can anyone help?
