Folks,
I have used this forum for awhile now, and used its's advice to modify my old O2 XDAII along with Buszdev.net. Both have been extremly helpful. I thank everyone for their advice and help. I moved up to the new Treo 750.
I was disappointed to find out that the Treo 750 for Cingular does not work with the Treo 750v Blackberry Connect software. I have seen this before in other HTC produced devices where the ROM does not match the requirments in the CAB. For instance diffrent versions of the TMOBILE wizard would work with BBC, but later versions of the Cingular 8125 would not run the software.
I would like to flash the Cingular 750 over to the Vodafone 750v. I am willing to dump the Cingular ROM in my device if folks are wanting to play with it. My question is, how do I take the dumped Vodafone 750v files on the FTP server and flash my device over. The device is unlocked...I just need to know next steps. I flashed before, but never with the raw dump. If this info is elsewhere in the forum please let me know where...I am not noob, but not an expert any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
MH
Hi M8,
Looks more that for dumping the ROM is not as simple as with the other PDA. Thgis Treo looks a bit tought.
More i have been asking on this forum for the ROM and looks like nobody is helping me. I have tried hard to look into the FTP and on the upload center but no luck at all.
So you have a working version even if blackberry is not working or things like that please consider yourself lucky. I have tried hard to flah mince in german language where i don't understand anything with no luck as looks like that the ROM files are a so precious stuff to get...
Sorry for these bad news m8.
Cheers
Goblin
Hi Guys,
Because the device is new, there aren't any ROM updates out yet. Once they start to come out, we should be able to switch ROMs, but it seems clear you can't install a dumped ROM, we'll need downloaded upgrades...

All,
Just wanted to add my thanks to all the talented people who roam these forums ! I've benefited greatly from your work. Particular thanks to faria who provided me with working ROMs when I was beginning to wonder if I should just go buy another phone. Also to funman who guided me through building my own Roms when I thought that was beyond my skills.
I'm heading over to the Hermes forums now. A friend gave up on figuring his out and so he sold it to me for $200 (he didn't know about xda-developers!). I couldn't pass that up! I hope the guys over there are as nice !
Best wishes to you all!

Lucky Dog!! Bring back the ggod stuff you find over there!
You're in good company over there...
A few of us are in the Hermes FORUM, myself and Jose included.
Jump in, the water's fine!
See you there
Got myself a hermes today. Insurance company typo so got a vario 2 instead of 1 .
Just flashed olipro hard spl followed by pro black 3. Happy days
Helpful bunch too
Great to hear!
I've gotten off to a terrific start thanks to the Hermes forums. Installed Custel 2.5 WM6 and I'm back to almost the same setup that I had on my Wizard. I was very happy to find most everything transfered over (PocketBreeze, iLauncher, PocketWeather, phonealarm, rlToday, IM+, muns keyboard skin, and the JPL big button phone dialer !! About the only thing missing is BatteryStatus. The FAQ says there's no overclocking software for the Hermes?
And the speed using 3G! WOW!!! Absolutely worth it !!
To everyone that has a hermes,
There are already offical WM6 versions out.. maybe you should test some first before you brick your phone... i dont mean to sound the way it does but i'm still hoping t-mobile or at&t are gonna release an offical Wm6 for my MDA.. so i do haev to say good luck to everyone with there new hermes

I did. The first thing I did upon receiving the phone was load the official Cingular WM6 rom on it. Given that there was a WM6 for the hermes, I thought that maybe I'd just stick with that version.
However, I ran into some small annoyances (activesync problems) and it was missing some software apps that I gotten used to having (Task Manager as an example), so that's when I decided to try one of the "unofficial" roms. I did my homework and read through the load process and basically followed the instructions. Custel focuses on making Cingular compatible roms, so it was a good fit for my needs.
I guess I was very cautious about installing custom roms when I first got my wizard (prior to my hermes). But after all the annoyances with it (daily soft-resets, monthly hard-resets, ongoing network problems, etc., etc.), if I hadn't installed one, I would have given up on the phone. Another example of that: I got my hermes because a friend got fed up with it and got a Treo instead. From installing custom roms, I got into customizing them myself using faria's kitchen apps.
It's not for everyone and I understand that, but I've greatly benefited from the efforts of the guys who work so hard to build these custom roms !
Hi,
Is there anyone who knows if it's possible to upgrade my old Qtek9100 to WM6 (english) and how (mini installations guide)?
If this is possible do anyone know if it's possible to install HTC Home Plugin a la HTC Touch on my Qtek9100?
Look forward hearing from all of you...
Sure that you can upgrade to WM6 (because I, am a newbie, did it my self). Just follow instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298613
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=285435
Do EXACTLY step-by-step and it'll naturally done, not complicated at all!
About HTC Touch & Plugin, i dont know because have never used. I'll try later...
The best thing is to READ first then ask questions...
One more useless topic!
Sigh...
thanks a lot
...but where do I find the WM6 for my Qtek9100 or is it the T-Mobile 2.26 ROM (and is this in german) who is the WM6? If not do you know if I can have free WM6 for my Qtek9100?

Oh no you can't! WM6 for the Wizard would cost you at least a hundred bucks...
Well maybe I have THE solution for you:
Once again: READ! for God's sake!
Dear Quiyaro
OK I didn't know that and maybe this is why I ask. I hope not I get you to be angry because it's seems that I did that. I have been trying to find out by reading but I can't find the answers I looking for therefore I'm asking again.
In the first place I was only asking if I could upgrade my Qtek9100 from WM5 to WM6 and I got a long list of things that I should do before but nobody told me before you that I should buy a WM6 also.
Thanks in advance. I think I'll drop to upgrade my PDA because it seems to be a little bit to complicated for me but if you can help me I'll be glad anyway...

He's messing with you. Read those topics carefully especially if you have a g4. it shoud tell you how to tell. You'll figure it out and soon be a rom addict like us.
Hi, I am new here and to windows mobile. I just purchased a HTC Tornado and I am looking for a thread that tells me how to upgrade it from WM5 to WM6. The problem is, when I search for HTC Tornado all the threads show a different Tornado phone then what I have. I have the HTC Tornado from Tmobile. Would I upgrade it the same way you upgrade the Tornado I keep seeing in this section?? Do I have a older model or something? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I attached a picture of the Torando that I have.
Thanks
You have a regular Tornado, simply the music edition. It's identical to mine and you can use without problem any of the WM6 that are available here
The insides are the same as the tornado, T-Mobile just puts their case on it. Many companies do the same.
I have the exact same version. Also called SP5m for the music edition. Be *very* careful to burn only those ROMS made for the Tornado. HTC Faraday for example looks very similar and many people have "bricked" their phone (made it totally useless) by installing that ROM.
Good luck.
Thanks for the help guys.. Anyone know where I can view a help section for newbs? I take it ROMS are programs?? And when you say my Tornado is the music edition, the other tornado can't play music? Can I update from WM5 right to WM6?
Thanks
It is the same HTC Tornado as any other. It has the exact same specs and features. The only differenece is the case. You can use any ROM for HTC Tornado.
other tornado don't have special buttons(play, next, previous), but they play music just the same as your SP5m does. ROMs are programs to upgrade your OS(operating system), it's like changing the PC OS from XP to Vista having a special software to help you do that more easily, there is no forum/section for newbs, as an advice, read all FAQs and other instructions here in Tornado section, and when you think you are ready - upgrade you WM5 to WM6, but if you aren't sure in smth better ask here before you make a step in nowhere..
good luck
Is there any big advantages to upgrade WM5 to WM6? Hard to do for a newb?
WM6 is lot better than WM5. I like it lot more. And it is not hard to upgrade to WM6. Basically you just need to superCID your phone, format BINFS and run the ROM Update Utility. Read this for more info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=324557
Thanks for the help. My phone should be here anyday now. Can't wait to mess around with it Is there anywhere anyone knows of where I can get newbie info on all the terms such as SuperCID, BINFS etc..
try the wiki. Look at the links at the top of the forums.
Hope someone can help, ive read through the posts here till my head hurts and cant work a couple of things out.
Ive just bought a 2nd hand Vodafone branded Treo 750 and tried unlocking it using Cheetahunlocker. I got through steps 1 & 2 and then the program crashed every time after this point so I just copied the athena unlocker over to the handset, ran that and that has worked fine. i cant however run step 3 of cheetahunlocker to flash the radio back to it. Is this a problem or can i carry on usin it in this state ?
Before running the unlocker I did a hard reset and somehow all the vodafone branding disapeared. is this right ?
I'm using the device on O2-UK, what would be the best WM6 rom to upgrade using ?
Many Thanks
Another New Guy!
Hi!
I'm a new Treo 750 owner too. I guess you and I really came late to this party!
There are so many new terms, and so much stuff here, I feel like I'll never learn it!
I can't help much, since I'm only about 24 hours ahead of you. But I do recall reading in this forum that the "radio" modification should be "undone" because it has some bugs in it, and your phone may not be as reliable with it installed.
If I understand it right, the radio mod has to be done in order to do the unlock, then the radio mod needs to be undone.
Hopefully someone will answer you (and me!) and we can join the ranks of the happliy-unlocked!
Good luck!
Do you guys know her ID here?
From her post in ppcgeeks, we need PM her to get the unlocker.
thanks
you have it!
I also need GSM Hard-SPL/Unlocker.
How to pm her in this forum? Is her ID cmonex?
can I have a copy of GSM hard spl as well? is there WM 6.5 rom for gsm version ? thx
I'd greatly appreciate getting in contact with her as well!
Oh and can I still donate for that cause? I really would like to, if that's an incentive or a good way of saying thanks for all the time & work!
(I'd be glad to help with testing too though, of course!)

i would like a copy of the unlocker too
I have PM'd her for the GSM version too. No reply yet tho....
Soon guys, soon!
Hey Guys!
Like the rest of you, I'm heaps excited about the fact that the CDMA version of a HardSPL for the Treo Pro is now available..
Seems finally, we are going to see some Custom-ROMing activity on the Treo Pro!
From what I understand, the GSM version of Hard-SPL / Unlocker is still a work-in-progress, but when I PM'd cmonex, she is hoping to get it done soon.
So, all we can do for now help her speed things along, is to continue giving her donations (mainly so she can get a Treo Pro GSM to speed up testing etc. and give her incentive!!), AND show continued interest in a GSM version of a Treo Pro HardSPL.. after all, if there's no interest, she won't see the need to do it!
Make sure the donations go directly to her account! I know mine has!! http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=322932
Keep up the good work cmonex!!! Seeing that Palm has abandoned us, you're the only one who can stop our Treo Pros from becoming very shiny doorstops!!
Just sent my donation, I hope things work out!
All the best, cmonex!
hey any sign of the gsm hard spl
Guys, I wouldnt sweat not having an unlocker for the GSM Treo Pro. After trying Windows Mobile 6.5 several times, I have gone back to the sprint stock rom. We have no cooks and no organization at all as well as no testers. I was very disappointed with the last release by Cfay, installed rom, setup everything, installed my own software then the software wouldnt run. Seems portions of .Net were broken or something. Good luck guys!!
sorry for double post

Hi - I would love to get ANY GSM ROM. 6.1, the one that comes with the phone in the USA, whatever...
I bought my phone second hand (here in China, where I live) and it is not a great version
WM 6.1
CE OS 5.2.19216 (Build 19216.1.0.5)
Software Version T850UNA-1.01-TST
Firmware Version 1.65.28.25
So if anyone has any decent working version of a GSM ROM, I would be greatly appreciative.
Thank you so much.
I am really hoping this actually happens! I would love to get a 6.5 rom on my gsm treo pro
