i am using currently AKU3.3 jester b1 and want to install JAMin's old ROM but the flasher is giving an error and asking to use a newer version of nbf file.
is there a way to install an old ROM to my device ?
try to cook a rom with the nk.nbf from your "old rom" using this tutorial
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=271043
this rom will install on spl 2.20 also if it's for spl 2.15
when you tried installing your "old rom" it stops at 95% right?
i had the same problem with my german rom and after using this tutorial i can now use the spl 2.15 rom with my spl 2.20 prophet
good luck
this can brick my phone as it is vey risky.
is there a simple way just to flash my phone to an old ROM i mean from 2.20.7.34 to 2.13.9.23 ?
If you had read the post of risidero carefully you would know that it could NOT brick your phone
it modifies your rom so it doesnt contain any IPL nor SPL data. they are staying untouched
the only risk is a non booting ROM which you can simply flash againt when going to bootloader (hold camera button while soft reset)

By following this tutorial, you're removing both the bootloaders (IPL and SPL) from a rom of your choice. This means that, if you don't make errors while 'cooking' the rom, you cannot completely destroy (brick) your phone. Sure, you could end up with a non-booting rom but, as long as you can get to the three colors screen (the bootloader screen) you'll always be able to install a different (or your previous) working rom.
On the other hand, messing with IPL and SPL (i.e. installing a rom containing IPL and SPL in a CID locked device) is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS and MUST be avoided in most cases!!!
Installing a 2.xx rom without messing with your phone's IPL and SPL is exactly what this tutorial tries to explain.

I was wondering if it is possible to use the patched RUU instead of shell tool to flash roms on a CID Locked G4 Wizard. I have the RUU that comes with wizard love, its a foreign language. With that RUU I can flash Wizard Love just by running it. I tried mfrazz's logo update patch which comes with the english RUU but that gave me an error, the with english RUU that came with the Cingular Radio rom. However, when I copied to nk.nbf files and used the Wizard Love RUU installed I was able to install it. I'm wondering now, if I can just use the the wizard love RUU installer to install an OS rom, instead of using ShellTool. Does anyone know if this is possible?
Thanks.
It should be NO. It is confirmed that the only advantage of a unlocked G4 is the ability to use RUU to flash ROMs without G3 IPL/SPL.
And the RUU used must still be NoID version.
Just to add to the post above - if you do fully CID unlock your G4 you have the ability to flash bootloaders made for G4. Certain ROMs contain the new G4 version of IPL/SPL3.08 BUT make sure you read about the ROM first before attempting any bootloader flash. I think the AKU3 ROM from German T-mobile contains it.
I'm a little confused with the bootloader stuff. I just wanted to know if it would be possible to use the RUU tool to flash and OS on the my wizard instead of shelltool.
Also is there a sure way to check if you are CID locked on a G4 wizard?
Thanks

I see where you're coming from, but it's not possible to flash a WM6 rom with the RUU. Let's try to explain:
The RUU works for certain 2.26 roms (like wizard_love) and things other than OS like splash screen and radio only roms. When you use the RUU with WM6 it will go to 100%, but the OS that will be loaded afterwards is your old OS because of the CID-lock.
If you pay to unlock your CID, then you can use OS-only RUU to flash.
hI!! i just want to ask, do i have to execute hardspl everytime i change wm6 rom?
i have g4 device here. i think it is already hardsl because the spl ends with xxxolip. thanks masters!!
As long as the SPL version is *.olip, you don't need to run HardSPL again.
thanks! if that's so, i will just run the Rom Upgrade Utility directly right? btw,are the roms posted here safe for G4?
As soon as you are using HardSPL/SoftSPL, any ROMs that doesn't include IPL and SPL are safe to flash (All WM6 ROMs here should be safe, of course)
well one thing u have to find the ruu mun that will let u flash any rom and make sure about ipl spl and should be fine

ok sir!!!! so i will just straightly run the mun's RUU with the rom to flash it into my G4? no need to use shelltool?
Hi,
Is it true that once you upgrade a radio version you can't go down to a lower version. I've successfully managed to install version 1.34.405.1_4.1.13.54_03.10.90 from Radio 4.1.13.54_03.10.90 (don't ask why) but my phone still says I have Radio 4.1.13.54_03.10.90.
Thanks
No that is not true. That is the exact same radio version you posted. Some ROM's do not flash a radio. The best bet is to flash a stand alone.
Once you are finished flashing your ROM and happy with your device. Patch SPL using the regular SPL method and then run FLASH from within the SPL folder, this will flash a patched SPL to your device and act as a Soft SPL. From here you can flash any radio and number of times to test the best one.
Hope this helps you out.
I also tried many radio versions before setlling down. Ofcourse you can downgrade it as h4waii said
Thanks for the help.
Is the method given by jockyw2001 Soft SPL because if so that's what I've been using.
Btw, what does SPL stand for?
Thanks
It should be in the Wiki, the uSPL is by jockyw2001 and it is loading a patched SPL from RAM. Flashing the uSPL over the ROM SPL will turn it into a "soft SPL".
SPL stands for Secondary Program Loader
Hi,
My old Dopod 818 originally showed the following when booting:
IPL 1.00
SPL 2.15.0000
GSM 02.19.21
OS 2.15.13.27
I used "Prophet Upgrade 2.6 - bikertibi" to upgrade it to WM6.1. I selected HardSPL in that program, and flashed it. This worked fine (scary moment
However, when I boot it now, it STILL shows the exact same IPL, SPL and GSM versions. Only the OS version has changed.
My question: is this normal? I thought the hardspl would change the IPL or SPL versions on the phone?
Is it possible or usefull to upgrade IPL/SPL also?
Second question: if I want to re-flash it again to another 6.5 ROM, can I just use this utility again, without hardspl selected, and without first downgrading back to WM5?
Thanks a lot...
Yup, it's normal because cooked roms don't include ipl/spl (prophet has 2 version : G3 and G4) and radio ... you wouldn't want to brick your device if flashing wrong ipl/spl would you?
However, it is recommended to install HardSPL so that if anything happen during flashing, you can recover the device via entering bootloader mode and only select your device version (G3 or G4) without selecting HardSPL.
ps : your device is G3 because it ends with 0000 .. read the wiki. TQ
Thanks for your reply. So I guess there is no need for me to upgrade IPL, SPL or radio.
How do I know if hardspl is installed?
And if I want to re-flash it again to another 6.5 ROM, can I just use this utility again, without hardspl selected, and without first downgrading back to WM5?
PS. I know my device is a G3, since I already flashed it (see above)
Thanks again.
HardSPL have number like this 2.G3.4PDA (for G3) or 2.G4.4PDA (for G4)... if you haven't HardSPL your device, you need to have HardSPL ticked before flashing. And if anything happen during flashing, your hope is to flash NVID flash.
If your device already HardSPL, you can just redo the flashing. No need to flash NVID unless HardSPL gets overwritten by stock ROM.
Hope this helps.
ps : lucky you .. G3 has more storage memory than G4 ... mine is G4 ...
So if hardspl is present, I should see something like SPL = 2.G3.4PDA at the bootscreen? This is not the case, I still see SPL 2.15.0000 like it did before the flashing. So I guess I don't have hardspl? But how can that be? I click on hardspl in the upgrade tool, and it didn't give an error message... Or do I need to add extra SPL files for this?
It's still unclear to me if I have hardspl installed or not :-( If it's "no", how could I have installed a cooked rom??? If it's "yes", how come I still see SPL 2.15.0000 at the boot screen?
Any help is appreciated!
From what I understand, bikertibi upgrade tools suppose to hardSPL the device but sometimes it seems to just load SoftSPL to the device so that it would temporarily make the device SuperCID? (will experimenting on this) Only SuperCID device can accept any rom. That's why if anything happen during the flashing, your device can only be recovered either by flashing specific CID (t-mobile/cingular/etc) rom or NVID (no specific vendor) rom if it doesn't HardSPLed. It will either reject the flashing process and the device will stuck in bootloader mode.
Since your device still shows SPL 2.15.0000 the answer is no, your device is not HardSPL. Cooked rom was flash successfully because SoftSPL in bikertibi 'tricked' the RUU to be SuperCID temporarily during flashing so it can finish writing a custom rom.
HardSPL for G3 can be download here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=353547
To flash a HardSPL, the device needs activesync/wmdc connection to load a special SoftSPL into the device before it can overwrite the stock SPL.
ps : I recommend you learn how to create SDcard dump if you don't want to HardSPL your device. This is because other than flashing stock ROM/NVID, your device can still be recovered using SDcard backup (it will overwrite everything including ipl/spl/os)
EDIT : Flashed my device to IPL/SPL 2.20.0001. bikertibi HardSPL ticked during flashing only send SoftSPL. Flashing was successful. Still need to flash HardSPL 2.G4.4PDA again after phone boots up normally to make it 'immune' from bricking
aze2learn,
Thank you very much for your help.
Indeed, after using the Prophet upgrade tools and activating "hardspl", hardspl was still not on the phone (so it must have used softspl). I installed it manually via the link you provided, and the SPL value changed! After that, I upgraded it to bikertibi's rom.
Very happy with the result.
Thanks again, I will also try the SDcard dump later.
Need help as I'm doing it for the first time
I have Radio 5.69.09.05a_22.50.50 and bootloader 4.3.2250
I want to flash RSPL and then DFT ROM, but as I see I need to downgrade bootloader to something like 1.52
If I flash Radio 5.66.09.09_22.46.50 from Mondrian Cingular 1.52.502.04 file on my device , will it brick it? can I flash 5.66 radio over 5.69? to downgrade bootloader?
or what should I do to get any Custom ROM?
You should actually be able to downgrade SPL 4.x directly (3.1 or lower is needed to install HSPL, which then lets you flash a custom ROM). Have you tried just rolling back to an old restor point (NoDo, perhaps) or flashing just the SPL (you can do this using the RUU) of an old ROM?
I downgraded my SPL from 4.5 to 3.1 by doing this. I'm still using a stock ROM, but until I install an update that overwrites the SPL, I know I *can* install R/HSPL any time I want to.

I restored with zune to NoDo and bootloader is still 4.3
I'm afraid to flash directly as it was said by Cotulla that flashin 4.xx MANGO `SPL-s will brick the phone. so can I just flash a lower radio version that downgrades the SPL, or I need a goldcard method?
With 4.x you should be able to use a radio/SPL image to downgrade. It's still installed using RUU, but you don't need a full ROM. There's even a configuration that won't wipe the phone when you flash it (obviously not useful for a full ROM, but I found it handy when I was trying different methods but didn't want to need to restore a backup to get my data back).
I pulled the download for my phone (radio + SPL pre-loaded in a RUU set up to not wipe the data) from the HD7-specific forum.
Dear Mr. GoodDayToDie
Could you please point us to where we can get the RUU file for the Surround device.
I have the Exact situation as Mr. DJSave Have.
Thanks in advance
Thanks a lot my problems solved her:
