Xda Orbit Question - General Questions and Answers

Hello All,
I have had my XDA Orbit now since Wednesday, and I am really impressed, it is much much better than my MDA Compact II and the WIFI and GPS just add that WOW factor!
My question is that on my MDA the date on the today screen displays the day and I have looked in all the settings and I don't know how to get it on the XDA Orbit!
Thanks
MASTERCHILLEN!

think the day thing was added on aku2, that made the time plugin 2 lines, everyone complained so it was dropped and put back to 1 line in all versions after. if the feature hasnt been removed altogether, theres possibly a reg setting to bring it back but i cant seem to find one.

Here's the info:
From the wiki. (This is WM5 specific, NOT device specific.)
Change the display of the clock in the taskbar
The clock in the taskbar can be changed to show not only the time, but also the date, or just the date, or nothing at all.
To show nothing:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\TBOpt = 0 (DWORD decimal)
To show just the clock:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\TBOpt = 1 (DWORD decimal)
To show just the date:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\TBOpt = 2 (DWORD decimal)
To show both the date and the clock:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\TBOpt = 3 (DWORD decimal)
Note 1: If you switch to the Analog clock display, the date will remain visible -through- the Analog clock
Note 2: Setting the clock to show 'nothing' will still keep the reserved space, showing the taskbar background, and obscure any icons that will shift to the right.
Note 3: Your date may get obscured by the space reserved for the OK/Close button in the top-right. You can fix this my adding spaces at the end of your 'Short Date Format'. See also the tweak on 'Change the Short Date Format'

I have my short date format set to "ddd M/d " (that's 2 trailing spaces for proper spacing) without quotes. It reads "Sat 12/2"
NOTE: Any references to month in date formatting need to be capitalized, or they won't display correctly.
-Enjoy!

Application for "shift key" indicator

Hi guys,
I recently bought a 2nd hand Wizard with an WM6 "underground edition" ROM on it.
What struck me was that while using the sliding keyboard, there was an indicator on the lower part of the screen which showed whether I was on shift, or on the special characters mode.
When I changed the ROM to an SNN WM 6.1, this feature disappeared.
How can I bring it back?

yea, i removed that feature, i will put it back when i release the next version of my rom. your not the only one that wanted that feature.
Simple regedit will get it back.
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd

lol thanks for the info, i really need to learn how to tweak roms using regedits. i'm at best a "junior chef" right now.
I've tried the regedit but it doesn't seem to be working. Capnotify doesn't seem to want to start. Any Ideas?
Never mind, it didn't take the registry edit before. I don't know why. All's good now!

I also use Advance Tool 3.3 to "try" add and change it... but is not working.... ~>_<~
2) The Task bar icon...
i have also follow the FInixNOver setting thread... it is success, but it always go back to the old icon, only some situation the colourful icon comes up...
it is because Diamond got less icon ? or TP have too many different icon ?
Both question i have try to check the solution from other thread and the reply thread... but people only ask for Diamond situation, not much for TP !!!

O2 Mini S Keyboard mapping problem

I am using an O2 UK G3 device, I have flashed the latest WM6.1 SNN 3.1 rom as well as previously the XDA Mobile 6 Release 5 rom and have come across a problem. I thought it was just my device until I notice someone else had posted the question elsewhere.

I love the ROM to date, however I've got three problems:
a ) How do I get the battery status to show top right next to the clock?
b ) Major hardware keyboard issue with symbols:
- ! = ~
- @ = !
- # = @
- $ = #
- % = $
- & = %
- * = &
- = = *
- + = =
- £ = +
etc. etc. Basically, each symbol on the keyboard writes the symbol next to the one pictured on the keyboard. The exception being all the symbols on the far right 3 keys on all four rows, which work as expected.
Basically, how do I fix these issues? I'm a UK 02 user...

Any suggestions or explanations anybody? Could it be a US v. UK hardware layout?
I have the same problem. The only solution I could find was to use AEKmap to remap the buttons, but after downloading it and looking at the config files my head hurt.. so I just decided to live with it.
If anyone has more patience than me and actually got round to making a config file for the MiniS, I'd love a copy.

I see what you mean about a headache, I looked at one of the Wizard calculator config files on the website and that was enough!

I've just created a small software to activate my french external keyboard (used for example, after flashing a rom).
I've haded some more languages and so you should give it a try and tell me if that solved your problem...
Regards.

Can you identify your keyboard language in this list ?
http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/reference/winxp/xp-lcid.mspx
I don't give up ;-)
It should be English_United_Kingdom, but it seems that when HTC branded the phone for the UK O2 network they moved the symbols about or something. Either that or more likely the other networks are using a US layout. I don't have a T-Mobile Vario or other Wizard to compare the keyboard layout with though.

Calender snooze

Hey everybody,
does some known how to put extra feature on the snooze when the reminder is activeted.
What I mean like on the old windows 6.1 that you could snooze the reminder for 5, 15 minutes or 1 hours and so on.
Is they a modification in the register that could be done or is they a program that could add this feature.
Please any advice would be really appreciated.
Thanks
Gigino
+1
It's again a problem for me, but I've not solution
Yes. With any registry editor, you have to go to :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Shell\Notification\OEM and then rename the following string "CustomUIDLL" in "CustomUIDLLX" ; then you can go back if you need. Soft reset and voilà !
Thanks a lot, guys

Change date appearance on Manila Home Screen

Hi All,
first of all best wishes for 2010!!
Can someone help me to change the date format on the Manila homepage of my HD2?? Whatever I change in the regional/country settings, the date on my HD2 Dutch 1.48 ROM shows di, 5 jan (tue, 5 jan). I want it to show 5-1-2010 or 5 jan 2010. Is this possible? Can somebody point me into the right direction?
Thanks in advance, Kuzibri
Manip on reg
If you want to do it yourself, go to the windows folder and find the file "17956b33_manila. Copy it onto your PC, open it with a text editor (eg notepad + +). Seeking two lines:
<trans-unit id="IDS_DATEFORMAT"> -> is the date displayed on the home below the weather
<trans-unit id="IDS_DATEFORMAT_SMALLVIEW"> -> is the date displayed on the small bar at the top when you display all the shortcuts on the home.
Then change the line right here, for me the better "d MM ddd" which will "Wednesday, December 25" For the day, if you put "ddd" you have the whole day if you put "dd" you will have the first three letters with a dot. Same for the month. For the year, yyy, yy if you put he should put 09 (I have not tested).
Then it remains you to transfer the new file to your phone and put it in the folder windows. A small soft reset, and that's it
Hope it helps
Franky
the Dutch file for changing the date format on the home screen is: 4dd5e23b_manila. Thanks to BeeGee_Tokyo.
Does anyone, by any chance, know what file to edit for the danish ROM?
Thanks in advance
