First post here...be gentle...
I know that phoneAlarm exists..and it is a very nice app. Problem is..it does way too much for what I need, not quite they way I prefer, and I don't want to use its mandatory plugin on my Today screen.
I was wondering if anyone would be interested in creating a utility that controls the behavior of the Treo 700w/x LED (not sound/ring, just the LED) for each notification type individually (System Notifications, Reminders, Missed Calls, Voicemail, SMS, MMS, Email).
For instance show the notification type in a drop-down box, and for each type have a checkbox to indicate if you want to control the LED for that type, and specify the blink rate and if possible the color.
I would prefer the standard OS actions (like Open email/MMS/SMS, Call Voicemail, Dismiss notification etc.) to make the LED resume its normal behavior of displaying network status or charging state.
Anyone!??!?!

I'm not sure if this is a setting or a byproduct of TF3D, but I can't stand the way that alerts work.
If I have a reminder for an upcoming appointment, the notification toast doesn't appear at the bottom like it did with my Mogul and other WM devices. The chime goes off and the alert icon appears on the menu bar, so I hit that, I get the menu bar selection screen and then if I hit the alarm bell, the toast displays at the bottom.
I'm running the default Sprint ROM for now, with some of the basic tweaks. This (and the inability to use a 4-pin headset) are my only real remaining beefs.
Is there a config or tweak I can do, is this just the way it is?

I have a ATT fuze so I dont know how much of difference the set up is...Did you look in system, sounds and notifications then notifications then scroll to reminders and make sure display message on screen is checked...What else have you installed that could be interferring?
Slawcops hint did the trick here.
After upgrading to the newest HTC official (dutch) ROM, TF3D was always in front of such system messages.
By going into the setting menu, sounds and notifications, notifications tab
then selecting "Reminders" (I guess thats what's it called in the english version) in the dropdown box and enabling the "show message in screen" my problem was solved.
Hope this helps!
edit: It would seem this action is needed every time after a soft-reset...if anyone knows where and if this value is stored in the registry, I would really like to know.
Dont know if this should go in applications section?but.......
NoSignalAlert can use the led to blink blue, I personally cant find an app anywere that you can change the colour of the led for different things like with nueled for windows mobile.Tis app was able o set led for signal and notifications to certain colours.
When i was searching i found something called ubercolourpicker but i dont think it works. Any help is much appreciated
I believe there is an ap in the market called "Spare Parts" that will alow you to change the LED color based on notification...
**EDIT** Upon looking its not Spare Parts that does it. (thought it hat alot of good settings) I use an app called missed call, Sets up different notification services, and allows you to choose the color.
Is that only for missed call alerts? Ideally i'd like to set the blue light constantly when i have a signal, With No signal alert it only does this for 10 secs
The missed call app has severial different services, missed call, sms, BT; but I don't believe it has one especially for signal....
Thanks, Exactly what i need (minus signal notification)
Love Handcent, however notifications don't seem to work how I would like them to. I close pop up window, clear notification bar, however unread messages pop back up in notification bar and led starts blinking again after screen timesout to off. Only way I get the led to stop blinking is by marking message read, which I don't always want to do, as I might forget. No other sms notifications on in other apps are active.
Anyone know of settings to make it so the led does not re-blink on screen timeout after closing pop up window (preferred method), or clearing notification bar? I like seeing the green line next to sms for later when I get an actual moment to reply.
Hello,
i own a now a bit aged Vox as second phone.
The point is, that it DOESN'T blink with new SMS arrived!
- the led works but it simply doesn't notify my, if there's a missed SMS/Email!
Any way to fix this?
tried notif blinker from i780, just activates vibration and can't be stopped till uninstalled!
seems to be wrong LED number set by default fpr htc vox. - vibration is listed as LED in i780 too!
im on "offical 6.5"
thanks for help!
Install the AutoKeylock from maniac - it supports many notification types and you can select what shall be notified and how: http://maniac.fschreiner.de/dmdocuments/Keylock_WM5.CAB
Main purpose is to lock the device - as the name says.
There is also "Don't Forget" something specialized on notifications - but I remember it had eaten some more CPU (in early versions - may be), check for yourself: http://magazin.softimage.cz/dontforget/download/
Is there a 3rd party app perhaps that lets you add a custom Quick panel shortcut to disable/enable notifications from either a certain/multiple/all apps? Something like "Do not disturb" except it doesn't turn your phone into silent mode, it just turns off the text notification/s. Like if I receive an email, the Gmail icon would still show a +1 counter or even trigger the new email sound, but I wouldn't receive any notification at the top of my screen. Like if I'm showing my photo gallery to a friend, I don't want a random email or SMS or whatever from whomever to pop up and my friend sees it - it's none of their business. I know I can also go manually into Settings, Apps & turn Notifications off completely for specific apps, but I just want a quick 1 tap shortcut like I have for "Do not disturb" mode and also not disable them completely, but just the text notification at the top.
