Hi all,
I have an O2 Mini and now I'd like to pass it to my dad. However, I must change its ROM from english to chinese beforehands.
I tried to do a search here before asking, but most of them indicated only changing from other langauges to english but not the way I needed.
Can anyone please tell me how it can be done in detail (like step by step) as I'm not quite an IT guy.
Any help is much appreciated.

U can download the O2 mini chinese rom in xda ftp, and run romupdate with no pain.
not possible. My friend tried to flash a Chinese Mini O2 with an English ROM (with NoID upgrade utility), yet it fails.
I don't know why...
Anyone have a better idea how to flash different language?
How does it fail specifically? Does the flasher report an error on the computer or does the Mini fail to start, or such?
basically, it just did not start. error with country code not found or something like that" any idea is appreciated.

You mentioned using the NoID upgrade utility. You did try it at least three times in sucession, right? The NoID supposedly only kicks in after the second or third attempt to upgrade.

That 's right, I used the NoID ROM upgrade...with 1st attempt failed and I continue with 2nd attempt, also failed

copy the file "enterBL" into yr device and run it , will become boot mode and upgrade the CHT 2003 SE Version ..

I tried to upgrading my ROM for my O2 XDA II Mini, but I think I used the wrong ROM and now all that comes on my screen is Serial v1.00 or USB v1.00. There was some error that came up as it was flashing, about being the wrong model.
I bought the English version in Hong Kong and I think it might have been shipped from Australia. I have spoken to technical support and they have suggested I need to take it back to them for a 5 day repair.
Can anybody advise how to get out of this situation?
Every time I try to upgrade the ROM now it comes up with wrong country ID.
Also is it possible to flash and O2 XDA Mini with the I-Mate JAM ROM as I don’t think I can find the correct ROM for this model and country phone?
Where to download the latest ROM? Would it be on the CD I got with the phone? I have also tried hard reset but no hope.

Log into the XDA Developers FTP Site and download the original rom that shipped with your device.
Connect your device and run the rom upgrade, it should be fine.

Just comming up with country ID error. Going to try another ROM.
There arent to many O2 XDA Mini shipped ROM upgrades in the FTP.
Is there a way to change the country ID?
If you suggest using GetDeviceData.exe it keeps saying not a vaild win32 application. How to get this working?
Not without the passwords for the roms. These are hard to come by and I'm not aware of them being available yet.
What rom were you running before you did this latest upgrade?

Looks like i'm taking the phone back to the shoop tomorrow. Not gonna try the upgrade again!.
Maybe I will try a back up and psot the rom here. There seems to be no O2 XDA Mini ROM's ion this site.

pls, pls, pls follow the threads about 'TMO official 1.13 ROM' or 'upgrade to radio 1.13'.
The 1.13 TMO is WWE, Means English, and requires flashing . You'll need the maugradeut_noid.exe too, as you're changing the language.
Hope this helps, cause I don't feel happy posting the whole procedure again. It's well described in those threads & there's the sticky topic on rom upgrading too.

As long as it is a magician you can use the TMO-rom. Keep your O2 original ext-rom at a save place though, you might need it for some specific settings. When you skip the TMO branding you got a plain 1.13 installation. I recommend the camera patch & BT patch though as a minimum, they're not branded.

Did you unzip it first? You'll need to unzip this one & put the maupgradeut_noid.exe in the same folder. Then execute the maupgradeut_noid.exe instead of the maupgrade.exe. Might be you need to run it twice, don't know why. Editting the RUU.conf helps too I read here.
Edit ruu.conf with notepad add on top [CHECKCEID_TYPE]=1

Don't know there are a lot of unspecified shipped roms on the ftp, maybe you can find out with a hex-editor which brand they are.
When you reload the current ext-rom there shouldn't be a problem for O2 settings though .

I have an XDA Mini and I used the english ROM. You have to use the "noid" version of the ROM updater. Search the forum for instructions. The error you got was country code, correct?

hey guys, is there any XDA neo official english rom available?
Xda Neo is for German market only, so obviously there will not be an English ROM for Xda Neo. But as you know Xda Neo is a brand of HTC Prophet, which has other similar brands like Qtek S200, i-mate JAmin, Dopod 818Pro... and all these products have English ROM, so you can upgrade your Neo with these English ROM image. Unfortunately i dont know any method how to upgrade to another language other than using JAFWM USB device.
Tamagochi:
You can download either the new qtek wwe or imate jaming rom (i'll suggest you use the i-jaming rom. It is more stable and has no memory leak like the qtek rom.) to upgrade it the english version. But then , you will have to get rid of the CID check. It you search the prophet section you will find information on how to override the CID check. The best method is to use the hack provided by machinegod (once again search through the forum). Instruction on "How TO" is provided.

I tried some things yesterday to change the ROM of XDA NEO
I first tried to install the
JAMin_WWE_213923_2139123_022021_ship
this failed with error 294 invalid Vender ID
I tried to search the forum and there I can accross
one posting where I can unlock the CID, using
Enable Rapi.bat
I again tried the same executable but it again failed
with the same error
Then I came accross another executable to unlock the
CID
romupdateutility.exe
and there was a rom associated with that
RUU_Prophet_2151327_21513121_021921_DOP_ASIA_WWE_Ship.exe
I installed that and it worked
Most of the Posting here says that
JAMin_WWE_213923_2139123_022021_ship is the best for XDA NEO
As the CID lock is now removed so I thought I should
be able to indtall the JAmin Rom and tried that but
that failed with this error
Error [296] upgrade only
This NBF file cannot be used for your PDA phone please
get newer NBF File
Can you please guide me if its good to install the JAmin Rom, if yes how can i do that and avoid this 296 error

This is possible....
Download the latest ROM update from I-mate Website or rather ftp.clubimate.com - and extract the ROM to a folder and replace the romupdateutil.exe from MachineGod into the folder.
Now you can check for a thread in the forum for this exe file(look for VendorID hack). Right now I don't have it. But if you can't find it lave me an email will send you once I'm back home on Monday.
All thanks to MachineGod for the altered Util with the verdorID hack.
It works great on my phone.. since past two weeks.... I had a German Version of XDA Neo which is now loaded with the latest WWE ROM for Imate JaMin.

what you have done actually..
o2 has official rom at o2 site...
o2 germany.. you can download from there..
I have the same problem.
I went back to a pdaviet wm5 version and then applied the official o2 update.
Everything worked fine except for the boot screens. I cannot change the first one (HTC screen).
I'm urgently looking for a working nk.nbf file which will restore my o2 bootscreen (the blue bubble screen) so that I can send in my HTC prophet for waranty.

i am from germany, and i bought my samsung sgh-i780 in the US.
now i want to update my windows mobile to a newer version, but i am having trouble doing so:
the phones ID is: DXHD1
i am using the phone in english language just as i received it. but it seems like the phone has been imported to the US from eastern asia ?? right??
the official samsung page "http://www.samsungmobile.com/support/i780/index.jsp" doesnt work for me because my code isnt accepted in UK (i dont want a different language other than english or german)
what am i supposed to do now, in order to update my phone to a new wm version?
i read through the forums but i didnt find a fitting answer

try using UK and BVHF1 to get upgrader!
then tell me if you were able to update using this tool!

it should be possible to upgrade to russian rom(full eboot pda phone) with mirage
then apply e1 update pda part only (with mirage)
after this i supose official uk update from page above can be used to upgrad e phone to pdxib1 =) which is newest and std for actual roms'!

I am very confused... i dont understand all the terms u used because im not into this topic as u are
could u explain those steps for someone who is a complete noob as to that topic please? i dont know how any of the things u have been talking about

first get official pdxib1(or how irt is spelled!) using the link provided in previous post!
and then edit it as decribed unter the same link!
i use xvi32 as hexeditor =)
tell me if this leads you to succes!

so first there are 3 things:
bootloader: starts windowsmobile! (called: eboot)
then operationsystem: windowsmobile(called: pda)
third is phonecomponentfirmware(calledhone)
you have to update these three using a russian rom!(romis a packet including one or all this three sections!)
then you've to get english software code! for this apply e1 rom to your i780! (it flashes pda sektion)
then it should be possible to use official english upgrader obtained by the samsung website!
this updater makes your mobile run dixb1 in phone and pda section (or how this reccomended version is spelled!).
after this you can overide pda section using a dxib1 based rom likeironeagles or dreamtheater39 or heineken ones... =)

second way described is very easy just get two files!
then edit one of them and there you are!( i think it is the seccond that has to be edited!)
official updater by samsung:
PDXIB1-XP
XVI32
what is to edit using xvi32? see middle of this post!
drivers
install xvi32 and the drivers!
then extract the updater with 7zip or winrar!
open biggest .exe with xvi32 and search for "DXIB1"... you will find it two times.
rename it both times to the same!
replace with what?
leaf the ib1 and replace the first two letters with the first two your phone has!

your code works when selection malaysian! =)
if you want to use uk version edit it like described in treath above!
but i think malaysian is english too!

now i looked at my phone and everything works fine its upgradet to 6.1
PS.: I could have used the Malaysian one? maaaaan i should have tried that

pdxib1 IS malaysian! =) its unbranded version =) its offcial version from samsung not for brandet devices!
i will modify pdxib1 to update my german phone...
dont forget now you can update to cooked wm6.5!
most common bug is artefact when moving courser!

AND DONT FORGET: GPS FIX! use it for every programm! w/o portsplitter!

cooked means edititen in a certain view.
so wm 6.1 is official
wm6.5.3 which u can obtain by using those "cooked" roms has a totaly reworked startmenu
it has other slidingpanels(titanium)
it might be faster. rom cookers (the persons building cooked roms) apply patches for stability ;more ram/space/pagepool new themes.
in wm 6.5 theres no real advantage than new startmenu and ne ie6 mobile.
i suppose to give ironeagle or heinekens rom a try and if you dont like it just flash old wm 6.1 back =)
its up to everyone to decide self wheater it is usefull or not.
on my old htc vox i always jused latest wm obtainable becuase of new features speed and stability
but the flexcable broke^^ so i got a new phone as vox is allways damaged somewhere.
and yes i'm german and i've just payed my new i780 =)
so it will arrive maybe around 29/30/31 this month =)
